METHUSELAH
The Methuselah are not just mortal beings, they are altered human beings--former Earthlings from the 2180 colonizing mission to Mars known as the Red Mars Project. One of the colonists' first discoveries on Mars was an ancient artifact containing very advanced technology, which they called simply "Bacillus" (it would later be named "Kudlak" to distinguish it from the more powerful version, "Krusnik"). Studies showed that the Bacillus is actually a nanomachine, which can be integrated into the body, altering the host to adapt to the harsher conditions of Mars--greater strength and endurance, and extended life span being its original gifts. The colonies decided to use the Bacillus to help them survive the Martian environment. When word of the discovery got back to Earth, there was universal demand for its export back to the mother planet, and much dispute as to its ownership, which escalated into the devastating war.
It was after this war that the first wave of Martian colonists, called Returners, went back to Earth to see what could be salvaged from the ruins. They helped the remaining Terrans to rebuild society, but found that exposure to the Terran environment and especially the greater ultraviolet radiation caused the Bacillus to mutate. It created a state between alive and dead that was much like the ancient Quincy race (Able to use reishi and reitsu as well as go into the Soul Society). Now forced to attack the humans they had aided, they helplessly watched the goodwill between them and the Terrans evaporate.
When a second wave of Returners came from Mars, its intention was not to help but to take over the still-weakened Earth. The original Returners were forced to take sides, and many cast their lot with the Terrans. The alliance of Terrans and Good Returners, as the pro-Terran Methuselah are called, succeeded in driving the Second Returners into the East.
Methuselah have five forms. Each with an increment of 20% up until 100%. When at 100%, their powers are at their maximum, but normally their body can not handle the release for long. To release their power, they say their power's name followed by what percentage. All Methuselah have speed that rivals that of a Vice-Captain in the Gotei. They also have the ability to create a blade from the nanomachines. The blade is not like a Zanpakutou, but rather just a normal weapon. Their powers aren't completely unique, so it is possible that two or more possess the same power. All Methuselah can create barriers and such out of ambient Reitsu and Reishi.
KRUSNIKS
Krusniks are the "true leaders" of the Methuselah. They were injected with the Krusnik-class nanomachine and have stronger powers altogether. Krusniks can also be created via a mutation with the Kudlak nanomachines. There were originally four of Krusniks: Lilith (Krusnik 00), Cain (Krusnik 01), Abel (Krusnik 02), and Seth (Krusnik 03).
Abel and his siblings originally shared a bitter grudge against the humanity which had created them as mere tools and watchdogs, and returned to Earth among the second wave of Returners from Mars, which intended to conquer the planet.Their Krusnik powers gave the invasion a tremendous advantage, and humanity was on its knees. Lilith--Abel's beloved, and the fourth Krusnik--was outraged by their actions and decided to go to Earth to fight on the Terran side, bringing them technological secrets that had not been released to mere humankind. With her help the tide of battle was turned, and at a major battle in Paris, Lilith and the combined Terran forces brought the Night Lords' army to a standstill. At this point, Cain--who had long since permitted full 100% release of the Krusnik nanomachine in himself and allowed his mind to fuse with it-- requested a truce and a diplomatic meeting with Lilith to discuss terms. She returned to Cain's satellite to meet with him, only to be betrayed: Cain murdered her and claimed her technical secrets for himself. Lilith's death drove Abel temporarily insane. He battled his brother and literally threw him from space to Earth, then took Lilith's body and presented himself at the Vatican, begging for sanctuary and a chance to atone. This essentially brought the war to an end in a single day. The Vatican took Abel in and allowed him to bury Lilith in an underground catacomb, which he has guarded for centuries. Having seen what happened to Cain, he has never even once allowed 100% release of the nanomachine in himself. In his heart he still hopes that removing the nanomachine from Cain would restore his brother to his original self (he's said to have been a very kind and intelligent person and an excellent commanding officer, loved by his troops as well as his siblings) though realistically he knows it's not likely. However, after the fall from the sky, Cain has since disappeared.
Krusniks, being the stronger version of their bretheren, have only four forms. Their percentages are not of any increment, as they are more random than anything. The percentages are 30%, 50%, 90%, and 100%. Following in their weaker siblings' footsteps, they have the same release type. However, their powers are completely unique and are at least three times stronger than a Methuselah's power level. Each Krusnik gains a set of wings that allows flight and firing of electrical bursts. If the Krusnik has an actual weapon associated with them, it is made of their blood (since it is infused with the nanomachines). The Krusnik-class nanomachine also makes the Krusniks highly resistant to Death Energy. It would take almost ungodly amounts to have the energy affect them to any large extent.

Techniques
- Dei Tonitrua (God's Thunder): Dei Tonitrua is the Methuselah's version of Shunpo. It isn't nearly as fast, but instead requires almost no energy and can be used to actually confuse the opponents. When the Bismark was first attacked, it was attacked by slow-moving biplanes. The Bismark's advanced guns were actually too fast for the biplanes. They were missing because they were moving it too much and it fired too quickly. That is the idea behind Dei Tonitrua.
- Lancea Lucis (Lance of Light): By concentrating reishi around their hand, Methuselah will then use the electrical charge from their nanomachines to create a large lance-like attack that is quite powerful. Its power depends on the user and surroundings, though a Krusnik can create a more powerful version.
- Aegis Shield: By concentrating reishi around their arms, Methuselah can create a shield the size of an acoustic guitar. This shield can limit damage from elemental attacks and can block almost every kind of physical attack as well. However, it takes a lot out on the user and no electrical based-attacks can be used. It can only be used for two posts for non-Krusniks but for five for Krusniks.
- Doloris Gladius (Sword of Sorrow): Much like the Lancea Lucis, this ability creates a weapon of electricity and reishi. However, this creates a solid weapon like a Seele Schneider. It glows a bright yellow. The only part that is not vibrating and ultra-high speeds is wherever the Methuselah grab it. However, only Methuselah can grab it, or those injected with their nanomachines. A Krusnik's blade is crimson and has a much more unstable composition. It acts as a chainsaw rather than a blade though.
- Vox Tacet (Silent Noise): Vox Tacet is a short ranged attack that temporarily completely deafens the opponent. It is created by compressing air between two layers of reishi around the hand. When released in a punch, it creates a small sonic explosion near the opponent's ears. When a Krusnik does it, it may induce severe shellshock.
- Indignatione Papae (Wrath of the Pope): This is one of the few Krusnik-reliant abilities. It requires the high-level electrical manipulation. By concentrating electricity in one location and then surrounding it within a barrier of reishi, the Krusnik can essentially create an EMP mine or grenade.
