The Reversed Vizard

» Name: Diana Etzel

Her name is of German Origin. Diana, a common German name, and also a roman goddess. Diana (which also means “divine” or heavenly), the Roman Goddess of the Hunt, Moon and Birthing, was one of the three maiden goddesses whom swore never to marry, which fits Diana, as she herself has a pure heart with pure intentions, and similarly to Diana of the Hunt, Diana Etzel is,despite being pure, is still a strong woman with much resolve and power.

Her surname, Etzel, is in reference to a German Legend; a tale in which Etzel was the name of a noble of one of the highest prestiges (was actually a great king and second husband to Queen, whose previous husband was Seigfried, one of the most well known characters of German Legend as well as Norse Mythology). Similarly, Diana is of noble birth, and as her name “Etzel” is one of Noble Derivation of a Legend, it is to symbolise that Diana is one of Noble Legend, or destined to be A Legend of Nobility. Etzel is also in reference to the hollow within her, as Etzel is the European name for “Irgun”, an armed Israeli Military Organisation of the underground. WIthin Diana, there is a hollow who is quite violent and always “armed” with her wits, will and most of all, hunger to fight.

The Title “Reverse Vizard” is in reference to one of her most obvious physical traits: the permanent hollow mask on her face. As she is originally of the Shinigami Race, and yet has a mask on that cannot be removed by standard means. As such, instead of a standard Vizard, where they don their mask, Diana’s mask is already on, and as a matter of fact, she can take it off and withhold the mask’s removed stasis for as long as a Vizard of her level could keep theirs on. As such, she was nicknamed “The Reversed Vizard”, as the way her mask operates is the opposite of a standard Vizard.

The Cursed Shinigami

As the pride of being a Shinigami would essentially be tainted when becoming a vizard, as they intake hollow powers, one of the Shinigami race’s natural enemies, and furthermore having to wear the mask permanently (well actually, it can be removed for a certain amount of time), it would be one of the worse things that could happen to a shinigami with extensive pride in being of such a race. With that, she also has the nickname “Cursed Shinigami”, as not only is she not normal among Shinigamis, and even outcasted, but she neither fits in with most Vizards. But such may be only her own speculation and personal feelings or delusions.

Pandora

The nickname “Pandora” was given in regards to the popularly known Pandora of Greek Mythology, primarily known in the story “Pandora’s Box”. Similarly to how Pandora opened the box for reasons of greed, and how in return she released all the negative things into the world, Diana was noted to have, despite relentlessly fending off the hollow which absorbed her initially, did not hesitate to use it’s powers. Despite her intentions not being ones of greed, it could be seen as taking advantage of the situation, and thus greedy of her to, albeit initially refuse the hollow, finally receive and embrace it’s assistance. Though one thing, in her opinion, was not received from her hollowification in which Pandora did receive: hope. One of the grandest things of the world. Excluding the major power boost, Diana did not feel that she had received something of purity and greatness that befell her along with such a cursed presence.

The White Yuudeshi Rose

As Diana is part of the Yuudeshi Clan (though not directly in it, as she is the niece of Haruko), she would naturally have a Yuudeshi Title. “The White Yuudeshi Rose” is a given title that refers to many aspects of herself. The White Rose is a German group which non-violently resisted the Nazi’s, and it is to be noted that they were a group of philosophical intellects, and as such, they were heavily endowed with peaceful view-points and strategical plans that involved minimum hardships. It is known that DIana prefered applying intellect rather than brute-force, and that along with her pure heart, she would rather take the diplomatic or peaceful option rather than one of brutal or oppressive tactic, which was often her view-point as, though not of narcissistic intent, she believed herself to be adequately powerful to deal with several situations, whether beneficial, violent, unadvantageous or otherwise. The White Rose title is also a medal of Finnish honour, which was bestowed upon the leaders of Finland, and was conceived by a Finland King. This is in reference to Diana’s noble birth; furthermore, the White Rose of Finland had affiliation with the Virgin Mary of Catholic Religion (the White Rose’s meaning is one of Purity, Beginnings and Innocence), just as the White Rose of York did, which was coined . As aforementioned, Diana was one of highly pure thoughts and emotions.

Due to an occurrence with the combined usage of her bankai and absorption into the Hollow which now resides within her, as a result Diana reverted back to her 8 year-old body. However, currently, there are some differences between herself when she was actually 8, and what she looks like now, furthermore, there are some instances where, and note that these instances are highly rare, without removing her mask, Diana may retain an adolescent or even her full grown body; in essence, her appearance age is variant.

Being approximately 520 makes her one of the older(-est) Yuudeshis, and also a being whose birth predates most cousins of hers, and inherently, their offspring. Due to her living to such a high number, she herself can only approximate her true age, as something that has repetitively continued on for her has at some point lost priority of knowledge. Her true age includes human years.

» Gender: Female

It is undoubted that Diana is female, but at some point, or rather, several points, she is gender-ambiguous, as a result of absorbing an excessive amount of hollow power, and even merging too closely with her inner hollow, despite it being of womanly appearance. In this case, she may even, though unthinkable for such a being as herself, utilise her gender-ambiguity for ulterior applications.

» Appearance Description:

As a child, Diana was a girl praised of adorability and beauty. Her blond hair would flow gracefully, her ends curling outwards and retaining, even to her later year, their luscious silky feel and bright yellow tone. Her hair would flow down as low as the bottom of her shoulderblades, and her bangs, in similar fashion to the ends of the back of her hair, would flow in a certain direction; the back of her hair would sharply curve upwards, whereas the bangs of her hair, which went as low as to cover her eyes sometimes, and generally all of her forehead at all times, swayed to the right.

Her eyebrows, which were thin and perfectly held a few centimeters above the ends of her short onyx-black eyelashes, had a yellow hue the same as her hair. Her facial skin was flawlessly maintained, as she, though not so strange for a child, was completely absent of any signs of possible facial hair. Her facial skin was flawless even down to her pores, which held no room for oils, though neither dry.

Her eyes were a beautiful golden shade, and they were gently caressed by short but thick eyelashes, especially excessive on her eyelid, which appeared to extend a long way, as her eyes were quite large, being capable of showing the entirety of her pupil even without her attempting to open her eyes widely. She was absent of bags or shadows under her eyes, as she never suffered from sleep depravity as a child, and especially bad genetics.

Moving further down and towards the center, Diana had a petite nose which was shaded in a slight pink hue at the tip, and was extremely potent in sense of smell. Even when young, Diana was capable of smelling the meaty breakfasts her family's chefs and maids would cook from an entire floor away. Nobody quite understood how, as even her parents did not have this, but nonetheless, it was a talent she possessed since, perhaps even birth.

Diana's cheekbones were hardly enunciated and hidden quite well under her soft white skin, coated in a constant rosy pink blush. Diana's cheekbones would generally make for a very wide face, however, they complimented her jaw-structure quite well, granting her a type of sharp-ovular facial structure, which fit her large eyes well and focused much of her beauty on her face, enunciating the fact that it lacked in imperfections.

One of Diana's most clear disparities which separated her from many people were her sharp ears, mimicking even that of a leprechaun or elf, and despite it normally being considered undesired, two thick locks of Diana's hair extended over the tips of her ears and outwards, as if like dog ears, which drew attention away from the side of her head, and made profile shots of her look more natural, again, shifting the focus to her actual face.

Her body shape would clearly be geared towards ¨loli¨, being only natural, considering this was when she was a child, but even for an eight year old she was rather small. Her skin was pale white, however, the smoothness and soft complexion of hers would make it an ¨attractive¨ type of pale, making her appear to have well maintained skin, rather than an physically uncouth ginger. Much of her skin in her upper body would be covered by her hair (specifically on her back).

Staying on her upper body, at this time, Diana had slender shoulders, yet retaining ample distance from her neck. Diana's neck had appropriate length to match her large head and balance out her unproportional body, as it was extremely petite. Her neck was rather thin, looking to be absent from much cervical muscular toning. Continuing on down, Diana's clavicle can be seen rather easily, but not to the extent in which the skin looks stretched out. Rather, it bulges out, rather than simply poking out. The collarbone continued to be visible up until a couple inches from her deltoids.

Being that she was a child, Diana's body shared similarities to a washboard: flat and straight, lacking practically any curves. Her chest is approximately the same size as her hips, and her waist just a tad smaller. Her feet were just as slender as the general shape of her body, also lacking curves. The balls of her ankles were quite visible and her foot size was approximately 7 in US childrens size.

The general type of clothing she wore was mostly dresses; specifically, white dresses with straps, in which in her shoulders and arms would be exposed. Her favorite article of clothing, the one piece dress she died in, was mainly white, with a slight pink hue to it, and a red bow with it's cloth lining the top of her dress covered the chest region, with it's strap going between her neck and shoulders, over her clavicle, and wrapping around her neck, forming another bow, covering the nape of her neck. Her back is exposed by the dresses design, however, most of it is generally covered by her hair anyways.

Aside from dresses, Diana wouldn't wear much. Sometimes she would even spend a large quantity of the day nude. But, she did however where clothing besides dresses. Shinobu favored warm colours over dark at this age, and especially red-oriented colours. Diana also had several t-shirts that had several different shades of red-- from dark scarlet hues to light hot pink. She often wore covers over her shirts, such as flannels or hoodies; much of her clothing would insinuate that she had a rather mature taste in articles of clothing.

Aside from flannels and hoodies, Diana would also wear much cuter covers such as coats, sweatshirts, and crew necks- a style slightly ahead of her generation. On different seasons, occasions and whatnot, the covers Diana would where would be quite appropriate and cute. When raining, Diana would wear a yellow raincoat, which went well with her yellow eyes and blonde hair. In winter, Diana would wear thick and fluffy snow jackets, mostly pink, white and red.

Her bottom half was often something exposing, such as skirts or shorts, and she would rarely wear pants. Her footwear was generally a pair of white sandals, and her favorite pair was a velcro sandal with a yellow flower and dark pink leaves on it. Other than that, she would often wear boots and most often white knee socks. Her boots were of assorted pairs, but generally, they were only boots in which they would fit the occasion/season, such as rain-boots, snow-boots, and sometimes just fluffy/furry boots just for protecting her calves and feet from the Autumn breeze.

Later on in her adolescent years, much changed about her. In her middle school years, which Diana spent in Japan, she wore large glasses that clouded her vision, as for some reason, it was too potent. Although one would generally be made fun of for that, her pure beauty simply added to the ¨moe¨ness in which the glasses provided. Her rosy cheekbones retained their pink colourisation, and her wide face stayed relatively the same, however, her jaw-line began to become sharper, giving her a look of maturity.

A noticeable change, or rather, the most noticeable change about her was the change in hairstyle. Diana's hair grew out much longer, capable of going down far below her posterior, and she changed the way in which she would prepare it. During the entering of adolescence, Diana began to shape her long, still quite luscious hair, into a braid. She would take a large portion of her hair, bring it over to her right shoulder, and let it flow over the front of her body in an extremely thick braid. The rest of her hair would flow down her back, as per usual. The ¨dog ear¨ locks of hair that covered the tip of her pointy ears stayed the same, as well as the length of her bangs.
