Mirja, The Wolf of Eden

Mirja loved Russia. Not only was it the place where two cute girls came from, it was always a brilliant tundra that made her feel so at home. The snow was her home, after all, and nothing would ever stop that. There was also a cool shark guy that was around and while intimidating, he was really just a cuddly bear if you didn't annoy him. But, all that was not why she was here. No, she was here because of the surprisingly large shanty town that had appeared in the middle of Siberia. She wouldn't have thought many people would be able to handle the harshest part of Russia, but that they did. There was stalls for food, arctic equipment for those less prepared for this venture, mercenaries standing around looking tough, and a lot of smart looking people.

And then, milling around, were her people. Fighters, warriors, cultivators. This shanty town was filled with people of Wulin. It was hard to slot herself into this society, they were very closed off to people from the outside. But she managed it eventually by showing that she was also a Cultivator and she had the ability to make elixers. Basic elixers for the lesser fighters of Bronze and low Silver, but still elixers. And so she got in, and now she was here.

Were it not for the group of armed guards and tent surroundings it, Mirja would probably have missed the hatch that led underground to where everyone had gathered for. Whatever was down there was going to be magnificent, since what looked like a tomb had been sealed away with powerful Shen barriers that had only just been broken through. Sure they could have released some ancient evil onto the world, but that was the thrill of it. The fun that came with this sort of expedition. And speaking of fun, she had sent for her student of sorts, Steiner. She'd passed a fair bit onto him, and here she wanted to give him a hobby.

Steiner had spent two weeks within Vastime and already he had learned more than his fair share of how to fight and what to do when the situation got rough. Most of the people of Vastime didn't share his sunny disposition or his want to protect people and merely honed their craft for selfish reasons, which meant that most of the time Steiner had to pay out of pocket for a lesson or plead for a few seconds to learn something. It worked most of the time, but Steiner's pockets were a bit lighter than they had ever been before because of it, not that he cared because cash wasn't something he needed to make his life better. Then there were the libraries, though most of them were mere hole in the wall places, they were still adequate enough to offer him knowledge on subjects that he wanted to learn while the Wolf was away or busy with her own devices. He spent most of his time in these libraries, in fact some people could even jokingly say he lived in them due to his voracious hunger for battlefield knowledge. Still, nothing compared to the lessons he learned from Mirja and he was extremely thankful for her mentoring him.

It was on one particular afternoon that Steiner had received tell of Mirja summoning him to Siberia. This was the first time that the Wolf had not come and got him of her own accord, which worried him a bit, but also made him feel more important. After all, this was a personal summons, and not her dragging him off in the middle of the night while he was laying bed for some training session that involved him getting beaten to a pulp or almost being eaten. Still, her teaching style was yielding results, and Steiner was improving at a great rate, but he would need to keep working at it if he was ever going to be more than some powerless human with a sword and combat knowledge. So, upon receiving her summons, Steiner packed his cold weather gear, and a few other things before exiting his camping site and making his way to Siberia. Without the ability to travel at mach speeds, Steiner took public transportation: Buses, trains, and even a dog sled at the end of his voyage to arrive in the cold north. And when he said cold, what he really meant was frigid.

Stepping off the dog sled and tightening his jacket around him to keep the cold out, Steiner took a look around at the random shanty town he had been summoned at before looking at the message again, and then nodding his head. "This has to the place...", Steiner said as he walked his way through the town as the inhabitants looked at him with judgement in their eyes. He could tell they were sizing him up and that they were not really welcoming of his presence in the town, but Steiner didn't care about that, he was here to see what Mirja needed fo him. After passing by his third group of angry looking mercenaries with scowls and mocking grins on their face, he began to wonder if Mirja was even here. After all, if the wolf was around then she would have made her presence known by now right? Or was this another test? Send him to a den of cutthroats and try his best to survive? It sounded like Mirja's training method and that concerned him, but he had to keep going and have faith in his master's summons. Even if this were a test, he doubt she would just let him die out here, and that if he were in any real present danger she would jump out and spill blood here.

"Mirja...where are you?", Steiner asked as he kept passing by more and more mercenaries who kept sizing him up and laughing at him. Finally, Steiner spotted the Wolf, and let out a rather long sigh of relief. "What exactly are we doing in Siberia, Mirja?", Steiner asked as he walked up beside her, the guards giving him a glare as he did so, and he returned that glare in return. "I came as quickly as I could, but I can't really move at mach speeds so I had to take several forms of transportation to get here...I think I'm out of money now.", Steiner said as he looked at the open hatch and then back at Mirja. Something told him this day wasn't going to get any better.

Mirja, The Wolf of Eden

The whole town was filled with a feeling of power. Of eminent strength that Steiner wouldn't have been able to feel before meeting the Wolf. Each person he looked at would resonate within his Dantian and give him feedback about their reletive strength. Being at the very bottom of the ladder, he didn't get anything accurate, just to be told how far above him the people were. And for most, that was pretty far. When he found Mirja, she was stood talking to a beautiful woman with purple hair and the softest features he had ever seen. Even Mirja's perfect complexion seemed to be lesser in this stark comparison. And his Dantian throbbed immensely. To look upon this person was like looking upon the Sun itself.

And then Mirja waved emphatically and dragged him over. The feeling from her was that she was above him, but not in the incredibly Heaven And Earth way that he was to the purple haired girl, or even the men in the camp.
"Hey Steiner! This is Ci Lan Tsu. She's the leader of this expedition. Madam Tsu, this is Steiner. He is my new student" She introduced him. The radiant woman smiled, and took out a pouch from her Kimono.
"It is a pleasure to meet a new child. May this speed you on your way" she said, before giving Mirja a slight nod and leaving to tend to other parts of the camp. Inside the bag, would be some strange pills, and a few dried roots.
"I can promise you those pills will not kill you. They are basic elixiers that will help your cultivation improve. Don't take too many however. Space it out to about, two a week. Else you'll rupture your Dantian and that is not good. It's metaphysical, so you can't use your Tulpa to fix it" She said, before gesturing to the shanty town.

"As for where you are, this is the Shifting Bazaar. It moves all across the world, and it's hard to find without Tai Chi cultivation, which is how it keeps itself a secret, and while it is pretty random, sometimes it just appears where there is sufficient collection of cultivators. Most of the people here are Silver rank, with one or two Gold ranks. Madam Tsu is Black Gold, so try to be respectful, I don't want to scrap what's left of you off the floor if you incur her ire" she explained. There was a twinkle, but also the tone that she was entirely serious about it. And if someone like Mirja was speaking well of Tsu's combat prowess, then it was definitely something to watch out for. "Also, a lot of people are going to be looking down on you because you are the Bronze 1 student of a brutish Barbarian without a Cultivation Technique. That's me. Just gotta shoulder it and eventually you'll hit Black Gold and get to crush those who sneer at you" she exclaimed, giving him a famous Wolf Grin before turning to the tent covering the hatch.

"And that, is why we are here. Hell, it's why everyone is here. Some sort of, tomb that has only just been excavated. There were some really powerful Shen seals that prevented entry. The ones that prevented it from being discovered only faded off last week. And so we are going in there, to explore, see what treasures we can find, and then get rich of selling them off to other people. Sounds great, no?" she exclaimed, before heading off towards the hatch and jumping down, allowing Steiner to follow on his own.

It had been maybe two weeks since the first bit of explanations of what Tai Chi was had reached Steiner's ears from the Wolf's mouth, he had listened diligently, but at times he had been confused by how everything functioned. Still, he was an avid learner, and wished to know as much as he could so he kept asking questions, and kept reading about Tai Chi till his understanding of Tai Chi had been achieved. Every person here was above him, each and every single one present had a bright enough Dantian that it blinded him a bit to even look at them, but he tried his best to look strong in the face of that. That is when he felt Mirja grab a hold of him and once again he was being dragged, all the while Steiner heard the sound of the people in the camp laughing at the sight, he tried his best to ignore it, however as he was dragged toward another woman. Steiner had never met this person, but the way that Mirja introduced her by using the word "madam" gave off a sense of importance, so he bowed a bit, as was a custom from where he was from, and didn't relent until he was addressed.

Being called a child, was not something that the young man thought would happen, but he accepted it none the less as he lifted his head to see her reach into her kimono and procure a pouch. He held out both his hands as to be careful not to drop it and received the pouch, he bowed again as she left before saying: "Thank you, madam!" He stopped bowing the moment Mirja began to tell them the contents of the pouch and as he had done a hundred times before he listened to each and every single word she had to say taking it in with as much importance as the first words she had spoke to him. "Twice a week...got it!", Steiner said as he looked inside of the bag to make sure of the contents before putting them in the safest location in his duffel bag. He wondered how one could make such important pills from medicinal herbs on the go without an advanced laboratory, but he decided to save that question for another time as there were more important questions that were about to be answered.

He was given a minor history lesson of the Shifting Bazaar and he found himself quite curious as to how the bazaar had even formed in the beginning. "So this place is filled with people who are way stronger than me in the ways of Tai Chi, huh? And trust me, Mirja...I would never disrespect someone that you, yourself deem as honorable.", Steiner replied as he had no want to incur a viscous beating at the hands of the Mirja or Madam Tsu. Still this whole place intrigued him and he wanted to learn more about this place, but at that present moment it was very clear that he was an outsider or at the very least a beginner to these people. They didn't seem to friendly to him and he doubted him probing people for answers would yield anything more than even more disdain or a possible beat down. So instead, Steiner focused on the words of his mentor, and listened to what she had to say about the rest of them looking down on him because of Mirja. "I'm sure that isn't it, Mirja....you are really strong, its not your fault that these people can't see that.", Steiner said as he felt people glaring needles into him, a particularly large man who glowed like the sun to Steiner's untrained eyes had the look of a man who wanted to end him here and there. It sent chills down his spine a bit.

"So we are tomb raiders now?", Steiner grinned with a slight chuckle as he began to follow Mirja closely as she made her way toward the hatch. She went in first and Steiner for a moment hesitated to go inside, he could feel something down there, and that said something to him more than anything else. Normally he was the type to charge into things and ask questions later, but something inside of him told him to be particularly careful down in this dungeon. He took a big gulp and followed and as he did he began to see just what had lay behind the hatch. It was a huge, derelict stair case that seemed to lead itself way down deep, far beyond what his human eyes could see. The fact that it led on forever into darkness made him a bit unnerved, but he swallowed that feeling and put his intention to conquer this obstacle first and put worrying about what lay in the shadows as a last level priority. He was here with Mirja, to look for riches, and he suppose have some fun along the way. "So why did you call me here for this, Mirja?", Steiner asked as he continued his descent into darkness, he grabbed a flash light from his duffel bag, and flipped it on so he could better see around himself.

The deeper they went, the more in disrepair things got, and the more treacherous the descent became. The steps were falling apart and Steiner wondered if there was even solid ground underneath them, but his curiosity would not get the best of them. Finally, after what seemed like forever they reached a landing, it was a large room with several hallways leading in multiple directions all around, and Steiner raised his flashlight to look down each one from a safe distance. "Which way should we go first?", Steiner asked Mirja as he looked around at the walls which had several moldy frescoes on them that were either falling apart or too faded to understand. He wondered just what exactly this place had served as and he wondered if there were any answers to that question down here just waiting to be discovered. "Has anyone else been down here?", Steiner asked as he walked to the center of the landing to take everything in.

Mirja, The Wolf of Eden

The Tomb was bigger than she could have thought. No wonder people where enthusiastic about this. Something like this, could either store treasure of ages, or have another secret in the chapter of Tai Chi. As they walked along, she spotted some things that where almost there on the walls. Like her Qi-infused eyes needed a bit more power before she could see them. So, something on the walls so powerful she needed to be Silver rank just to perceive them? That was a bit worrying. What kind of tomb was this, that was so heavily sealed away, and so powerfully protected, even now?

"We aren't raiders, we are explorers. We are here to see what this place is, to study and catalog and then see if anything fits us. And if it does, then we get those as payment for services renders. A tomb raider would slip in, under cover of darkness, and steal everything. But we aren't here to steal, so we are explorers" She explained, nodding to him before walking further in. She was going to do a cool thing with her Runes, but he brought a flashlight, which was boring, but ok. She'd let him have that one. And while walking she came to realize how boring things were. This was why she nailed across the plains at mach 10. Walking was so boring, but they have to be vigilant or they would miss something. And something then came they couldn't miss, a broad and open courtyard thing, sorta.

"People came in here a day or two ago. Check for traps and such. Be careful by the way. There might be traps, and I don't want to have wasted all the effort getting you awesome just to see you bisected by a pendulum" she told him, before sniffing. She had a sharper nose than any human, and so could smell something. Following her nose, she found the dead body and gestured Steiner to shine his light on the cadaver. The look, was worrying. Dried out, sunken skin that clung to the bones, and no eyes. It would take months to turn a dead person into this. But, at the same time, nobody had been here in over a thousand years. This body, despite the impossibility, had to be fresh.
"Now, what could have happened to you? Strange mechanism for a trap. Effective, I'll admit, but-" she was cut off by the corpse jolting, and then slowly standing up.

Walking bodies was interesting, so she watched it for a few moments, and then it took a swipe at her, so she punched it in the chest and sent it soaring off down one of the passageways. In response, the sound of thudding footsteps, heavier than any human, began to sound from all around.
"Which way? Well, back the way we came sounds appealing. Alternatively we stay here, wait for whatever is coming to come, and punch the crap out of them all until they run out of things to throw at us" The options were both pretty good, considering.

Something going on under ground. JCRrxmK

Artist: Zack Hemsey - Song: See What I've Become - Word Count: 1,268

If Mirja watched her pupil closely she would see his stance change before her eyes as she mentioned the fact that they should stay and fight whatever was coming. This wasn't the stance of a boy who had no clue that she had met only a few weeks prior, no this was the stance of a man who was ready for the fight, and if she could see his face in the darkness she would see a smile on his face. Now was the time that Steiner would show Mirja just what he could accomplish with his drive and his desire to protect people and get stronger. "Oh hell no, we aren't leaving. You called me here to search this place and we are searching this place no matter how many things come walking through these halls toward us. Besides...if we run now it will just hurt your image more, right sensei?", Steiner said with a bit of a cocky laugh escaping his mouth.

Was he really the same Steiner from two weeks ago, no this was a completely different man. The old Steiner had been a shapeless mass that had yet to reach its potential, this new Steiner, however had honed himself by spending many sleepless nights practicing craft, and formulating the best ways to use his skills as limited as they were in combination with the things he had learned from Mirja. He reached into his duffel bag, pulling out the pouch with all of the medication he had been given, and popped one of the magic pills that could improve his cultivation, then he placed that bag on top of the duffel bag. Unceremoniously, Steiner would then unzip his jacket, and tossed it aside like it was dead weight revealing a multitude of different daggers, knives, and most importantly the broken sword Excalibur his primary weapon. He would glare into the dark as he dropped his flashlight, but left it on so it could illuminate the hall nearest to him. "No matter what, I will protect everyone, and I will get stronger just you all watch.", Steiner said to no in particular as he let out a deep sigh that sent steam from his mouth.

He drew Excalibur from his sheathe as his Reiki spread to it as his Dantian also seemed to flare up right before Mirja's eyes as the medicine began to be digested by his stomach acid to spread the special drug through out his body. Steiner had learned of weapons that could channel Reiki, Soul Forged weaponry, and in that same vein had tried to ascertain any of these types of weapons to work with his swordsmanship, however no such blade was cheap, and Steiner's funds had been non-existent. It was during one particular training session that the hero of honor had learned that the broken blade could be considered a Soul Forged weapon and for the rest of his time training he had honed his skills in sending Reiki into his most cherished weapon. This was the fruit of his labor, the blade seamlessly accepting his own personal energy that came from the very core of who he was, and that energy caused the blade to glow a vibrant whitish blue which cast the shadows of the two explorers across the walls of the landing.

Whatever was coming, its heavy foot steps were echoing closer, and as they did Steiner's stance switched to a sword style he had read about in the book that Mirja had given him. It wasn't perfect, but there it was '32 Form Taichi Sword', Steiner's stance mimicked the form of a basic Tai Chi stance, however the sword he was wielding would now be an extension of himself, adding extra reach to his already long arms, and allowing him to strike from a safer distance. Steiner had yet to perfect this stance or had even used it to fight anyone of any caliber, but he had practiced so hard and at this moment he wanted to show Mirja that he had not wasted her time in putting that much information in his hands. He also supposed now would be the perfect time to practice his skills against something that clearly sounded large and vastly not as quick as he was. For a moment he held this stance until the very first thing stepped out of the tunnel, a giant stone soldier appeared, and lumbered out of the opening as one would suspect. Instead of being shocked and instead of being confused, Steiner just let all the programming he had done to his body take over.

It was like a flash of moon light crescendo'd through the darkness, cutting diagonal along the stone soldier's body, and for a second it stepped for with horrible purpose, but in that second its body split in two from where the cut had formed. As it did so the body began to crumble and fell down into nothing, but dust as it did so. Another enemy entered the fray from Steiner's right, a shambling mound of flesh that had once been some life form from ancient times, and it didn't reach much farther than soldier had. Another slash of light blue light slashing along its' neck as Steiner swung his sword much like a practitioner of Tai Chi would swing their hand to deliver a chop. Its' head tumbled from its body as it let out a long, raspy, and pathetic moan in response for being beheaded. Steiner's body was like a coil, every time a new enemy would reach out of its' hovel on his side of the landing, Steiner would lash out, and destroy it with little thought to its' emotional state of mind or why it was there. At this point Steiner didn't care why these things were moving anyway.

His only thoughts extended to the fact that there were people above him, sure they were trained fighters, but the fact that there was clearly a lot of these things meant that regardless of how well trained they were they could be outnumbered and overwhelmed. He also remembered the lady he had met who had been so kind to hand him over the medication, he would protect her too, he owed her after all for the wonderful gift she had given him. Another enemy hostile appeared to his right and without a moment hesitation was cut clean in two from the top of his head to the bottom of his crotch. The stone soldier disintegrating before it even hit the ground. Steiner let out a few deep breaths, in truth there were a lot of these things, and he could hear them getting closer with little want to stop. Steiner's stamina pool was being doubly drained by channeling his Reiki into his sword and by maintaining his sense of battle awareness. Not to mention he still hadn't mastered this technique and it was becoming quite obvious that with each thing he took down he got closer and closer to exhaustion.

But he couldn't let Mirja see him falter here, not now, not ever. He had to prove his worth as a hero and as a man. Another enemy, no two enemies emerged at the same time, and Steiner performed a spinning strike departing the two zombies of their heads simultaneously as he did so. Steiner was breathing raggedly, but was maintaining his poise. He knew that Mirja could hold her own, but he had to prove that he could do the same. So he would not quit and would fight for as long as he could stand.

Mirja, The Wolf of Eden

Heh. Not that it was in doubt, but the kid had guts. It was cool to see. When faced with odds like this, and powerful warriors at your back, it was only natural to believe that you should go get help from people less liable to die. Dying kind of put all your plans on hold for the rest of the eternity. She could get fighting to the death while there was no other choice, but this was far from a no choice situation.
"Well, the good news is that the undead and stone soldiers would have triggered all the traps. No need to worry about them" She exclaimed, looking at the creatures while Steiner fought.

They were animated by something strange. Something that invigorated their bodies and made them tough and hard to cut. it looked from the outside that there was little resistance, but that was always true when you watched someone do something. And the way they crumbled rather than just collapsed, was a big giveaway on the idea that these guys were not exactly something that you'd find wandering around. They were being puppeted. This tomb was massive, running aimlessly would not do any good. So she reached into her pouch and fished out a pair of runes. Whispering to them, she threw them high, and they took off after their quarry.

"Bravery is commendable, but don't die. Know when to cut and run. It's not like you are going to put anyone up there at risk" She told him. Hopefully, he would take it on board because Mirja, was gone a few seconds after she had said that. following her runes in search of the master behind these puppets. She moved far to fast for them to ever try to catch her, and too fast for any traps she activated to hit her. A pressure pad causing spears to drop would see her on the other end of the hall before the spears had come half way.

Every second he felt the drain grow worse and worse, every moment he felt his breath become more ragged, and his finesse failing him at a rather rapid rate. While Steiner had trained for this moment to impress Mirja and to show he had the talent to be somebody who could be relied on in tough situations, he was now feeling the effects of not having trained against live opponents with these techniques. Each slash he would use with the sword drenched in his Reiki became less and less effective, he found himself having to chop twice to get through the stone soldiers, while once was more than enough to slash through the rotting flesh of a zombie. With each passing second it was becoming harder to maintain the necessary stamina or Reiki to keep on fighting this fight for much longer, but Steiner had made a pledge to himself. To keep fight for as long as he could stand and he was going to go through with that damn pledge.

He kept slicing and moving around even as more than five opponents decided to drag themselves out of the tunnels, Steiner continued to slash, and cut his way through them. That was until, surprisingly, the light that had emanated from his sword, and the Reiki he had gathered, faded away. Steiner was out of juice and as the broken sword collided with the monstrous stone soldier in front of him the sound metal shattering filled the catacombs to the brim. Steiner's eyes went wide as he realized that his only possession that he truly had cared for was now broken, it was no longer a sword, but just a hilt. "The sword...Valus...", Steiner murmured as the fist of the stone soldier nailed him the gut sending him flying a few feet back on to his back. Steiner spit up blood and let out a groan that was similar to the zombie nearing him, Steiner picked out a pair of daggers from his side holsters, and slashed its head off with a rather quick slice. The daggers wouldn't allow him the necessary range advantage as the sword had given him and neither were they Soul Forged, but Steiner knew they would at least be effective against the zombies marching toward him. The stone soldiers were another matter entirely.

What had originally been a battle of quick slashes from a sword enhanced by Reiki, now was a battle involving Steiner slashing as many zombies as he could with a set of dual daggers. With the switch in weaponry came a change in style, no longer was he relying on Tai Chi, but was relying on a combination of military CQC involving knife combat, and old Greek swordsmanship. It was effective against the slow moving zombies, but as soon as a stone soldier would arrive, Steiner had no answer for them as he would have to use his speed to out maneuver the moving stone behemoths. When he looked back to see where Mirja was, she was gone, and the realization that his master had left him to deal with these foes by himself struck him rather hard. He had no heard what she had said over the sound of combat and how much he had been focused on insuring that none would pass him and now he was alone because of it. She had to have good reasons, she wouldn't just abandon him to fight all of these things by himself. In a moment of thought, Steiner received another walloping from a stone soldier as it slammed its' fist hard against Steiner's rib cage and sent him sliding across the rough stone floor.

Steiner's skin was peeled away from the floor across his left leg and he could feel that one or two of his ribs were broken, and his twin daggers were stepped on by the now fourth soldier in the small landing. Steiner procured a short sword from another holster on his body, flipping it in his hands as he changed up his style to full Greek swordsmanship while he assessed the damages that had been done to him. His left leg was skinned badly and bleeding and he could feel that a few of his ribs were broken. Things could be worse, but this was definitely getting close to impossible for him. He focused on using the Tulpa to heal his bones to the point as if they were never broken, and it succeeded, but it had taken his focus off the fight again as a cluster of zombies began to tear at his flesh. "Get off me!", Steiner shouted as he slashed his way through them like a butcher cutting meat, and emerged from the pile of dismembered limbs looking pretty banged up. Steiner paused, looking around at the scene before him. There were so many enemies that he couldn't even extend his awareness to count them all.

Worst of all was his stamina, he was out of breath, and he was beginning to feel cramps through out his body as his muscles were just not wanting to cooperate with the hero in this particular instance. Yet, as Mirja had told him his belief in himself was his most important tool now, and his body responded almost instantly to his demands. "I'm not giving up...I'm not running...this is a fight I can win!", Steiner said in between ragged breaths as white orbs of light began to connect with his body to form his Personal Tulpa. Once again Steiner had dawned the Armor of the Heroic Defender and this time he had opponent's to smash before him with little to no regard. The armor, which appeared to be quite heavy to those outside was in fact extremely flexible, and matches Steiner's fighting style well while also providing a moderate increase to his own durability. He slammed his shield into a stone soldier, destroying it completely, and then with his offhand holding the short sword, Steiner cleaved a zombie's head from its' body.

A stone soldier tried to nail Steiner with a right, but Steiner's shield blocked it, and shoved it into another giant with such force that the two shattered into dust. A quick flick of the wrist and Steiner had ended another wretched undead with an abrupt slash straight down the middle. All the while reinforcements piled in, in fact it seemed the flow had only escalated as it had done so, and Steiner though he was wearing the Tulpa couldn't keep up with them in mass. Yet, he kept on fighting, because he had faith in his master, and to him that held value. He would keep fighting until she returned, with help or otherwise.

Mirja, The Wolf of Eden

After getting outside of the horde's range and following her runes, she eventually came to a very large door. Enpowered and crafted specifically with great care, it was not something that would break easily. But she had to get in there, and had to break whoever was doing this so she could protect her student. Steiner was too stupid to retreat, and so she drew three runes from her pouch, blew on them, and invested her will into them. It was a new trick, and something that she wasn't sure would even work. But she threw them behind her anyway. If all went well, they would find their way to Steiner, and prevent him from getting killed, if nothing else.

The Fight. Reading optional:

And then, it was all over. She was a mess. Her Territorial Tulpa was pushed to it's limit keeping her alive and even then she was barely on her feet. Bastard had her here for so long she had lost count of the hours. She had succeeded in her original goal. The puppets would have stopped moving shortly after he died, but then what would Steiner be thinking? Would he be worried when they fell apart and she didn't return? Would he go get someone to look for her? Or would he go looking for treasure, assuming that was what she was doing? The thought of treasure got her to look down at the dead body at her feet. She had turned it into minced meat as she burned through his Shen. Who would have thought. At the moment of death, he used Breath of Azure Dragon on himself. That was literally, undying determination.

But to the victor goes the spoils. So she leaned forward to grab the armlets and collapsed. Her body screamed at the idea of getting up, and so she just stayed there. pulling the armlets off what was left of his arms, she hugged them tight. And then conked off to sleep. Steiner would find her eventually, and consciousness was a battle harder fought than the one she had just finished.

Something going on under ground. JCRrxmK

Artist: N/A - Song: Samurai Jack OST Tomb Scene Theme - Word Count: 1,131

Was it over? The sound of heavy stone footsteps stepping on desecrated stone tiles could no longer be heard and neither could the sound of the moans that had once come from zombies that shuffled their way through the halls toward their destination on the landing. All that remained on the landing, was Steiner Franz. Standing in the middle of a huge pile of rubble and surrounded by the corpses of at least twenty five undead abominations, Steiner Franz stood tall in victory. Yet, even in victory, there had been a hefty price. All around him lay discarded and broken weaponry, while in his left hand the hilt of his most prized possession now destroyed existed. Steiner breathed heavily, his Tulpa falling to pieces around him as the armor was far too cracked to hold itself together after the massive battle that had taken place here, and eventually completely faded away revealing the damage that he had received in this fight. All over him were lacerations, two fingers on his right hand broken from where he had slammed the shield of his Tulpa so hard into a stone soldier that his hand at almost shattered, and above his right eye a rather large gash spilled blood causing him to close that eye entirely as to avoid pain on top of the pain he already felt.

His Territorial Tulpa had been expended completely by that point so there was no healing that he could give himself through his own special abilities. He stood there, motionless save for the motion of his chest signifying he was still breathing, and then began to collapse forward to the floor with a hard thud. For a moment Steiner lay there, his whole body feeling as though he was covered in a heavy cement, and his muscles refused to function the way that muscles usually did. In fact the only feeling outside of feeling like he was covered in drying cement that he could feel was the feeling of intense burning from all of his muscles. This burning was not pleasant, but Steiner had experienced worse and as he lay there trying to make his body listen to him the thoughts he was having were not focused on himself, but of Mirja. Mirja had not returned yet and that meant bad things had occurred down the tunnel that she had ran, but she had at least stopped the foes from marching down and beating the hell out of him he supposed, but that didn't make him feel any better. He was concerned for her safety. For as powerful as she was, Mirja was reckless sometimes, and he had come to realize that over the few weeks that he had known her.

They shared that quality in a lot of ways, but Steiner was not going to allow the wolf to get away with dying down here in the catacombs like this. No, he had a lot more he needed to learn from her, and to get to her he would crawl if he had to. And so he did. He crawled over to his duffel bag, grabbing the bag with the medicine it, and popped a root piece of root into his mouth, receiving a bitter taste through out, but he knew that he couldn't complain if this stuff was as good as Mirja had said it was. He then continued to crawl, moving over stone and corpse alike, until he finally reached the passage way that his mentor had taken. He let out a groan of disgust as the taste of the root would not go away and then let out an even louder groan of pain as he used his left hand to try and drag himself up to his feet. The hand grabbed on a stone in the archway that led down the path Mirja had ran and though his arm struggled to move his weight, Steiner's will would not be denied, and he pulled his whole weight to a standing base only to look down the dark and foreboding hall way.

Steiner took a few deep breaths and then began to drag himself along the right wall of the hallway, his body was unable to really stand on its' own, and the wall provided just the right amount of support for him to do this. So, for about an hour, Steiner dragged himself through the darkness while leaning against the wall, and basically followed the Wolf's trail of set off traps as he did so. Along the way he started to feel better and over time he began to be able to walk more on his own merits, but he still wasn't 100% capable of doing it on his own. His breath was still ragged and his body still ached from the amount of work he had put in to fight those things off, but none the less he couldn't give up now. There was a wolf to find after all! "Just hope she is okay...I don't know what I would do if...", Steiner began to say, but stopped himself short as he didn't want to think those thoughts or go down the path his mind was slowly coming to.

He had yet to the see Wolf and as he continued down the hall he doubted he would ever find her as his mind started going to a darker place, a place he didn't want to tread to. "Please just be alright...please just be...Mirja!", Steiner's mantra broke as he saw his mentor played out across the hard stone floor in front of him. For a moment his heart dropped and he rushed over to her, adrenaline making the pain go further away, and his mind rushing to what horrible being had caused his mentor this much distress. He felt for a pulse and let out a deep sigh as he felt one, still he didn't want to risk anything, and reached into the same bag of medicine he had earlier to grab a bit more root. For a few seconds he wondered if he could even get the root in her mouth, after all she had wolf qualities, and he doubted she would just let him open her mouth and put a bitter tasting root in there. Still, he had to try. "Open up Mirja...this root will help you heal.", he said as he went to open her mouth to put the root in. If she didn't open her mouth, he would probably have to find some other way to get her out of there. He supposed he could carry her out, but he doubted he had the physical strength left in him to do so, but that didn't matter. Mirja and himself were walking out of this catacomb one way or another.
