I. Personality

All things considered, Yuumon's personality is perhaps less gruff than one might expect from a Shoiki. He is generally composed, a calm reservation to all of his action. Of course, a great deal of that comes simply from the fact that he has tamed his natural passions in order to perfect his craft, but such is the way of life. When roused to anger or joy, this calmness is very quickly overtaken, and he becomes every bit as loud and energetic as one might expect of any Shoiki.

The defense of his family is one of the only things that Yuumon is particularly concerned with, and there is little he would not do to protect them, be it from harm or from ill repute. While of course the whole of the Zendan are, on some level, his family, he of course holds his children most dear. He has never married, not out of any lack of desire to do so, but simply because he feels that there is only one woman he could ever truly spend his life with, and fate has perhaps tragically left them separated.

I. History

As the eldest son of his household, Yuumon knew from an early age that he would need to take responsibility for his family. In particular, his household has had a longstanding tradition as artisans within the Zendan tribe, and while almost all Zendan pursue such things as distilling and cooking, Yuumon's household instead held onto ancient styles of tattooing and body paint. While most might simply have seen these things as ornamentation, Yuumon was raised practically from birth in the myriad subtleties of the arts. The meaning of each color, of each symbol, and in how to make both tattoos and paints last as long as was required. He loved every minute of it, but-

Not as much as he loved the woman who shared these passions with him, that one night. Chishiki Shihoin, a master of the very same arts as himself, had come to study the techniques of Yuumon's family. The two were, some might say, destined to be together, and their passion was nothing short of legendary. He had hoped to see her again, and wrote to her often enough that he suspected letters would reach her no sooner than she had already returned home. Yet, after weeks, he received only a short reply, that she could not return, as family matters had arisen. He understood what this meant, of course. Her family did not approve. He was hurt, yes, but he did not allow it to weigh upon him too heavily. There was still art to be done, a family to lead and to grow. Yuumon would live his life, with or without the woman he loved.

I. Racial Techniques/Abilities/Skills

» Physical Prowess: Perhaps unsurprisingly for a Shoiki, Yuumon's physical strength and martial technique are significantly above the average person's, even when much of his life has been dedicated solely to his craft. While he is hardly on the same caliber as one such as Suika Ibiki, Yuumon could nevertheless hold his own against many of the Gotei's men and women if such a need arose.

» Body Artist: Yuumon's true greatest talent by far, the man is perhaps the single greatest tattoo artist in all of the known Soul Society. His ability for minute detail is flawless, and with only a brief amount of study of one's body, he is able to discern how one's musculature, skin, and even potential future growth will influence his work. Put simply, Yuumon has never failed to put exactly what was intended upon the body of another.
