Psychological Analysis

At her surface, Hanae is a rather kind, gentle, and patient woman. She never speaks with a loud tone of voice, and never has much of an extreme emotion on her features, aside from a peaceful smile or frown depending on circumstance. She is rather outgoing, almost too friendly towards complete strangers, often spotting people and asking they spend a moment with her, be it a short chat or more than. Though those with a more observant eye can tell that, even with her rather kind and nurturing exterior, there is nothing but a dead look in her eyes, nary a glimmer of light present within them.

Though not quite for ulterior motives, underneath this kind and sociable exterior is an incredibly observant, calculating mind. By no means is she putting on a front just to appear more acceptable; the attitude she presents people is genuine, however not for the reasons they may think it's for. Hanae is always incredibly aware of her standing in a current situation, and will actively adapt to improve her circumstances. She will always behave in a way that she finds is advantageous, as her circumstances demanded such great attention to her inward and outward self.

Any and all indications of instinctive fear, hatred, or other similarly extreme and irrational emotions are analyzed and scrutinized to the point of being completely extinguished. She has no interest in allowing herself to behave in any spontaneous way, and thus will quite literally think them into silence if they're ever welling inside of her.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Born into a noble house, Harue Kuchiki lived a normal, uneventful childhood, expected and peaceful. She aspired to do well in her studies, having passed throughout the Academy as a rather upstanding student, respectful of those around her and hardworking to become a member of the Gotei. However, all of this was so… Dull, to the girl. Everything was simply so… Boring and predictable. Though she did find some solace in engaging with others, it wasn’t until her first mission into the world of the living that she felt a sense of awe.

She had never felt more alive than in that world. Unlike her home, the living world always had something new; the weather, the seasons, even the beings who lived within it. To it all, she admired these natural cycles. She wanted to learn all she could of it, keeping books of notes and drawings of what she had seen while she occupied it, from animals to plants to even people going about their days, never seeming to tread the same path twice.

However, there was one foolish idea she held onto - That death was the end. Whenever something died, or something ceased, that was it; for humans, either they completely lose themselves to their tainted hearts and become Hollows, or are sent to the Soul Society, where they live, unchanging until they perish there, too. Every Soul Burial she conducted was coupled with a sense of unease, knowing she was sending this person off to a circumstance where they likely could no longer grow.

She never shirked her duties or further training, despite her growing disgruntlement towards the Soul Society. She honestly didn’t believe her world would ever change, until she had learned of the events of the war against Aizen, the Arrancar he had created, and the shift within the Gotei that had occurred. Though not personally involved in what led to it, she was intrigued on what would come of it.

She became more and more enamored by the living world’s advancements, often spending her uneventful days watching the everchanging people go about. However, she hadn’t progressed much with her Zanpakuto, something she was confused about. She was under the impression she was doing all she could to get along with it, yet it kept confronting her with confusing questions that she couldn’t comfortably answer, about her understanding of the world, about what death truly meant, always challenging her… It felt like the thing was just being contrarian at times, often being left unfulfilled and no closer to getting along with it as she did before.

To her horror, the invasion had occurred, thousands of creatures descending upon the Earth and seeking to destroy everything with reckless abandon. The demons and hollows who dared come upon and destroy the world were met with violence and anger from her. She saw them as nothing more than parasites that wished to sully the living world at this point, and fought in kind. However, she was weak, and with that weakness came a sense of desperation to rid herself of the enemy, thus justifying crueler actions such as killing her enemies as they slept or destroying their homes.

It wasn’t until the aftermath of WW3, almost one-hundred years after it’s conclusion, that an ill fate would befall her. Hanae had taken to working almost exclusively in the living world, a deep grief and hatred for what occurred rested in her heart. She wished for these destructive beings to pay, but she had so little power, the most she could do was wipe out those who didn’t see her coming during the war, and felt as if she owed this world her aid.

One night, when she was finishing some work, a small human child had approached her, claiming to be lost. Her tender heart, feeling she owed this human everything for her failure to drive away those who sought to snuff them out, had gone out of her way to assist them. However, it was a trap - the child was not a human, but rather a demon.

Leading her to be unexpectantly jumped by it's comrades, she was captured and knocked unconscious. When she next woke, she was in a dark hole, with only her Zanpakuto at her side, chained up with the only way out behind high above her, the sound of laughter and mocking flowing through the bars. The demons who had captured her were members of a family who were angry with her for killing their kin during the war, the survivors remembering her and seeking vengeance.

Of course she tried to escape, but each attempt was a failure. She was pinned to the ground, not a single living thing in her tiny cell for her Zanpakuto to enhance, the bars above her reinforced with a spell that inflicted burning pain upon her any time she touched them. It was futile, and she was forced to remain in a dark, small, and filthy cell, unable to even lie down.

Over time, her strength failed her - Being mostly idle, as well as her exhaustive amount of attempts at escaping had weakened her. They had left her alone in pure darkness for several days to fully tire out from hunger and effort before doing anything to her, yanking her out near daily to do unspeakable amounts of harm to her. Not enough to kill her, never enough to kill her - they wanted her alive to feast off her pain and agony, and relish in her misery and futility, not even her sword could save her.

It was nothing but years, and years, of agony. Sometimes they would get bored of her and just drag her around their home like a limp doll, just to have something to make her do. Her hatred reached boiling points at times, her thoughts screaming, wondering if these creatures would ever get tired of using her like some plaything for some revenge. Her Zanpakuto held a strange pity for these infernal creatures, something she didn’t understand, until she was forced to think about it…

There wasn’t any point to this suffering. After a while, the supposed wish for justice was drowned away by boredom and normalcy. It just became the norm - she was just food to them. Did they ever really care about those who fell to her sword, or was that just a front to deepen her misery? To make her feel guilty and horrid? Did they really ever seek vindication in the first place?

Slowly, her hatred turned to pity. Pity that such empty creatures could exist. All they ever did was cause pain, to feed, and centralized their lives around it. They weren’t like humans, who have the capacity to cause pain, but there was much more to them beyond sustenance - they loved, they hated, they built. All these creatures ever did was destroy, because all they could ever do was take, and what a sad existence that was to Hanae - far worse than any ceasing of existence, a life of nothing but being slaves to their primal urges, hardly able to overcome and become more.

Finally, she begun to understand her spirit, and as her only companion in his horrible time, she spoke to them, and listened this time. Many conversations spent, many new understandings of things, from her situation to life itself, were made. Soon, she came to see everything in cycles - the Gotei, the Living World, Hollows, even herself. Even her present situation, no matter how long it would take, she was amidst a cycle that would come to a close, and a new one would be born at that closing. All she had to do… Was wait.

Days, weeks, months, even years of living in these conditions, she’d remain. Even if the air itself did not welcome here, she’d remain. Even if she was treated cruelly, worse than garbage, for years on end, she’d remain. She remained, for she knew transformation would come, but before such a thing could occur, she had to endure.

Many in her position would have succumbed and died, those who didn’t would have lost their mind. In a way, Hanae did lose it, but such a loss only occurred in her own transformation, from a lover to the observable, to the improvements in life, a hater of those who destroyed, to a patient, understanding woman, who adapted to her circumstances, regardless of how horrid it was, knowing with enough patience, transformation would occur; there was no such thing as an ‘end’, there was only ‘born anew’.

And yes, that cycle did meet it’s tail; she smiled, knowing this well, as the cool splash of blood dripping on her head was felt, not long after a series of screams and shouts - her captors were slain, slaves to the end, murdered and plundered by their enemies.

Despite her body being weakened by the many decades in captivity, this was her chance to escape. Her first time performing Shikai, her weak arms transformed into something inhuman, swinging up with incredible strength to destroy the bars, and once outside discovered she was not in the world of the living, but someplace completely alien; The Demon World. Though she could tell she felt despair towards her circumstance, she reasoned that wallowing in that despair would lead to her death; adapting and thriving was the only way she could persist.

In the meantime, she slowly regained her strength and finesse, fighting to survive in this entirely different world, avoiding settlements and living off the land. Over time, she regained her strength, enough for her to easily squash whatever demon tried to harm her. Unlike the righteous fury in killing them she felt before, she only killed them out of necessity, seeing it as necessary action as opposed to pointless destruction for reasons such as vengeance or a moral high ground.

Hanae would then find a demon who she coerced to make a way back to the world of the living, his thank you being in blood and a wish for peaceful rest - she did not want anyone following her. Finally having returned, the woman weighed her options - there was a chance her disappearance wasn’t treated as desertion, and the Gotei would allow her back, but there was a chance their laws had tightened again and any attempts at entering that world would be met with swords and execution, or in the most unlikely case, the Gotei was completely dissolved with nothing to go back to. She didn’t take her chances, wandering the wastes of the world instead.

She put herself against other opponents, not only to test those who currently dwelled in the world, to see where they had progressed, but also to sharpen her own skills. Eventually, she mastered her Shikai and went on to form her Bankai, her movements obviously not unseen. She knew very well the Gotei would discover her, so rather than have them come to her, she would go to them, reappearing in the Soul Society for the first time in ages.

Sorting out some things, she would then rejoin the Gotei, intrigued by how far they have come, and where they were to go from now.

NATURAL ATTRIBUTES

Survivalist: Having to survive in various physically and mentally taxing situations has led to Hanae developing not just an incredible sense of endurance, but knowledge and experience in surviving in such extremes. She is well equipped to survive in hostile environments, having the mental fortitude to continue going even if she is practically starving or weak. She also has plenty of know-how that would be useful, such as hunting, tool creation, navigation, etc. Overall, Hanae was forced to adapt to living in Demon World’s wilds, and that experience has given her a broad set of useful skills.

Incredible Physique: Due to the fast development and vitality of her cells, as well as all of the intense training her body would have had to undergo to survive her circumstances, Hanae has quite an impressive amount of physical strength despite her gentler appearance. She has been known to take on larger opponents such as hollows completely bare-handed with little to no issue if needed. While her strength is impressive, it’s not exactly out of the realm of the fathomable.

However, due to the aforementioned effect on her body that her Zanpakuto has, Hanae cannot afford to sit still for very long. She needs to keep herself consistently active and fed in order to maintain herself, or else she will quickly start becoming weaker, her body having acclimated to higher amounts of stress over time and thus needing it to be maintained. Otherwise, she will get physically weaker at several times the rate of someone who did not move for several days.

Hakuda: With only retained knowledge from her tutors and the academy, Hanae’s skill in Hakuda is rather average. She hadn’t been in a place where she could seek further teaching in any technique until recently, only getting by with what she learned so long ago. Although, due to growth and experience, she has plenty of potential to apply herself to grow in this area.

Kido: Similar to her Hakuda proficiency, she only has retained knowledge from when she was still an active member of the Gotei. Though she was a little more practiced in Kido than the average person previously, she presently is out of practice.

Deep Bond With Zanpakuto: Amidst her imprisonment, she had all the time and patience to interact with and bond with her zanpakuto spirit. It was her only ally at the time, and thus the only thing she could talk to and rely on. Her experiences in being captive and then having to survive had dispelled any previous frustration or misunderstanding towards it she held, the two of them rarely arguing or being at odds, apart from a few differences appearing to have a very similar temperament. Through these experiences, she learned it’s name and further bonded with it, ultimately unlocking Bankai.

Zanjutsu: As her Zanpakuto was her only weapon and closest companion, she is incredibly proficient at using it. Practically an extension of herself, her skill in using her sword is rather high, able to perform feats similar to that of a master wielder. Much of her skill is self taught and through experiences, but any who witness her in combat will say for certain she is a cut above the rest.

ZANPAKUTO ATTRIBUTES

Zanpakuto Name: Kimera [キメラ]
Zanpakuto Appearance (Physical): Kimera appears as a typical-looking Tanto, the only exceptions being the blade being far more curved, resembling a claw in shape, the hilt and handle's design resembling organic tissue.
Zanpakuto Spirit Appearance: They appear as a vast array of creatures, culminating into an impossible creature, best described thusly; They possess the head of a serpent, the fangs of a lion, the frills and ridges of a lizard, the antlers of a deer, the ears of a wolf, the eyes of a cat, the stance of a caribou, the paws of a lynx, the scales of a fish, the mane of a horse, the hind legs of an antelope, the forewings of a falcon, the hind wings of an insect, the claws of an owl, the fur of a mink, the feathers of a peacock, and finally the tail of a fox.

Inner World Appearance:

Hanae Kuchiki (FINISHED) LKkwbtX

Sealed Zanpakuto Abilities:

Vitality: Hanae's Zanpakuto has a natural restorative factor. Anything Hanae cuts with her Zanpakuto receives a dose of her Reiatsu, which acts as both fuel and instructions for the cells that make up whatever she cuts. However, since this ability has a much lower effectiveness compared to her Shikai, the most she can do with this is an advanced level of healing. This promotes controlled cell restoration and activity in order to heal wounds, grow back limbs or organs, fix bodily abnormalities, and more.

She has full control over what the cells nurtured by her Reiatsu do, and how much is done before ceasing. However, anyone or anything this is used on will feel tired afterwards, by how much depending on what was restored. For example, patching up some cuts isn't much of a burden on one's stamina, but anyone with massive wounds won't be able to keep going. Alternatively, she can use this ability to restore one's energy, however she is far more limited with restoring the energy of someone who she just healed, as giving them a boost would put too much stress on their body.

She is unable to cure say, illness, remove foreign objects, or dispel poisoning; it has to be entirely an issue with one's body.

SHIKAI

Release Phrase: Emerge, Kimera!

Appearance: Kimera fuses with Hanae's hands, transforming her fingers into long, flexible, blood-red claws with darker purple tips, her right index finger growing considerably in length, meanwhile up to her mid forearms change to resemble dark pink, scaly gauntlets.

Anything that Hanae stabs with her claws, if she so chooses, will receive a great dose of her Reiatsu. Several steps above her sealed ability, her energy is able to manipulate the cellular makeup of whatever it invades by her giving the cells conscious instructions of what to do. She could stab a plant and give it the instruction to grow faster, and it will, being given the resources and means to do so. However, this of course can be used offensively, such as if she stabbed an opponent and gave the instruction for their cells to grow out of control, any cells in and around the stab will do so.

As previously mentioned, the only cells Hanae has direct control over are the new ones nurtured by her Reiatsu, and thus as long as they exist, Hanae can instruct the cells to do whatever possible, even die en masse.

Hanae is able to use this ability on herself in a rather extreme manner; she can force her body to change and fit to whatever she may need, consciously amplifying one physical trait (+1 skill level to either Durability, Speed, or Strength, capped at Elite) to suit her needs.

BANKAI

Name: Genshi Kimera [原始キメラ]
Release Phrase: Emerge From The Depths, Genshi Kimera!

Completely losing the ability to alter other organisms, Hanae instead directs this cellular control wholly into herself. Her Zanpakuto completely fuses with her body and completely alters her biology, giving her a far more monstrous appearance, growing several feet, her head obscured by a helmet-like structure, forming a tail, etc. At this stage, her body is boiling hot with activity, though the pain and agony of existing in such a form is negated by her brain being flooded with chemicals in order to keep her active. While her Focus goes down two levels due to the level of intoxication required, all of Hanae's physical skills are increased by one.

While in this form, her healing factor is far more robust, even being able to shrug off horrible injuries that would normally leave someone out of commission. However, as opposed to her conscious instructions, all instructions given to her body at any time are completely unconscious; she merely physically adapts to the situation as it unfolds, forming new limbs or parts as needed.

However, due to the incredible stress her Bankai inflicts on her body and mind, she can only maintain it for up to 8 posts. Though she is completely unscathed when her Bankai disperses, she is unable to continue any fighting for the rest of the thread.

Sealed Zanpakuto Abilities:

..the most she can do with this is an advanced level of healing

Healing to this level in a sealed state is, frankly, a little too much for a sealed Zanpakuto. Being able to regrow limbs or organs is probably a little much and should be saved for the released states.

She is unable to cure say, illness, remove foreign objects, or dispel poisoning; it has to be entirely an issue with one's body.

Are illnesses or poisons not issues with one's body? Perhaps this point needs elaboration or clarification.

Shikai

However, this of course can be used offensively, such as if she stabbed an opponent and gave the instruction for their cells to grow out of control, any cells in and around the stab will do so.

Like, mechanically, how does this work? Does it take a while for this effect to kick in? What counterplay do opponents have beyond 'Just don't get hit lol'? Please elaborate.

As previously mentioned, the only cells Hanae has direct control over are the new ones nurtured by her Reiatsu, and thus as long as they exist, Hanae can instruct the cells to do whatever possible, even die en masse.

So if Hanae, say, regrew someone's limb, she could then cause this limb to immediately die at any point in the future regardless of her situation? Is there no restriction or duration on this control whatsoever? What would happen to such things should Hanae die? Would they die with her or?

Bankai

While her Focus goes down two levels due to the level of intoxication required, all of Hanae's physical skills are increased by one.

Firstly, these stat buffs need to cap out at Elite. Secondly, a general rule of thumb is that the buffs should be comparable to the debuffs, which is not quite the case when weighing two levels of focus against four other statistics.

Skill Sheet

Generally, I'm fine with most of these but not quite sure this character sits at an Elite level of Zanjutsu. Advanced seems to suit the character better with this current level of power and abilities.[/mod]
