Inter-Division Mingling [Mizu, Asami]

Mizu figured her aim would not strike true but didn't expect Asami to so thoroughly dismantle her attempted attack. She wasn't entirely surprised though given the dearth of her own skill. Still, she would not allow herself to be defeated so easily. Upon noticing Asami's main weapon start to come down Mizu guessed at her intention and, not wanting to be stripped of her only weapon, reached out with her left hand and rapidly spoke aloud "Hadō number 4: Byakurai!"

Instead of a small bolt of energy, Mizu's left hand was engulfed in blue light before a miniature explosion was set off around it by purposely misfiring the spell. Though it probably didn't have enough force to do much harm to Asami or send her reeling, that hadn't been the blonde Shinigami's goal anyway. Instead she meant to push her own weapon away and to her right, out of reach of her opponent's weapons, and shove herself back a few feet where she would land unceremoniously on her bottom, which would at least somewhat cushion her. If everything went well, or as well as they could given what she wanted to do, her hand would be singed and it's fingertips tingling, but she would still have her dear Shousenmaru at her side as she dragged herself to her feet and attempted to regain her composure, a determined look covering Mizu's face once more.

Thinking she may have bit off a bit more than she could chew, Mizu found herself being tossed through the air by her black garment before landing roughly on the dirt ground a few feet away. Luckily for her she managed to maneuver her body just enough so as to not have the wind knocked completely from her chest, though her bottom was accumulating quite a few battle scars at this point. In addition her left elbow struck the ground before the rest of her torso which would likely lead to bruising. The 5th Seat wondered if the gap between the two was this great, how could she justify them having the same rank in the Gotei, albeit within different Divisions? This moment of self-doubt solidified her commitment to their bout and so she decided to step things up a bit.

Having heard no objection to her use of Shinigami magic Mizu opted to utilize the art some more, as it was perhaps the one thing that could give her weaker physicality an advantage in this match of wills. From her position on the ground Mizu pushed both her hands out and silently cast a spell before placing her right hand into the form of a gun with the barrel, her index finger, pointed directly at her temporary foe. As she did Mizu said the second spell's name aloud to cast it: Hadō #1: Sho!" This spell would suddenly create a moderate amount of thrusting force toward Asami which, if all went well, could knock her off her feet and send her flying backward; if this succeeded, or if it failed and she noticed the effect of her first spell, Asami would bounce off the rubbery surface of a person-sized wall created by her own personal Zuishinkabe spell.

Hoping all had gone to plan Mizu, though knowing it may not have, Mizu stood quickly and placed her hands together before once again declaring the name of a Kido spell "Bakudo #4: Hainawa!" This most recent spell would involve the formation of a glowing yellow rope made of pure Reishi which would snake toward Asami through the air intending to wrap itself around her figure and bind her movements. With her Hainawa spell still moving to wrap up Asami Mizu realized her own breathing had turned more toward a beleaguered panting due to casting so many Shinigami spells in rapid succession, and silently hoped her plan would work on her superior foe.

Thus far Mizu had specifically avoided using dangerous Hadō spells as while it seemed alright to use Kido in this spar, she was not seeking to seriously harm Asami in what is, at it's core, a friendly bout. Perhaps, she thought to herself, it was arrogant to assume she even could harm this woman with more powerful spells; but her own brand of common sense won out and she remained convinced not to escalate things in that way. If she were to continue fighting she would have to rely on the fundamentals of Zankensoki without resorting to anything capable of maiming or worse. She assumed her opponent was operating under the same restrictions, but couldn't be entirely sure until the result of their match was apparent.

Renewed confidence flowed through the blonde Shinigami as her plan had gone off without a hitch. When the crackling rope of energy she'd created reached and enveloped her target Mizu was glad at her own quick thinking, though she quickly refocused as she knew not to become too self-satisfied or confident in battle. Apparently her opponent would not willingly give in just because her limbs and movement were restricted, opting to respond to Mizu's use of Kido with a threatening axe kick. Knowing if she was struck by Asami's attack she would likely be down for the count Mizu thought quickly and chose to use another fundamental Shinigami skill, Hohō, to just barely dodge to her right. At the same time she pulled down on the yellow chain extending from her hands to Asami's body with all her might, hoping to speed the woman's descent up enough to throw off her landing and do to the woman what she had done to her a handful of seconds prior, which is to say crash her into the ground.
