Nioh is a difficult person to summarise in a few words because Nioh is a myriad of different masks all woven together. A person that is insecure, unsatisfied and resentful. She is the person that wants something, tries and when the effort becomes too much she will give up or try to take a shortcut. She'll make excuses and hide behind them, she is a hypocrite who mocks those who are capable despite being a fraud. Despite her fragile and unstable core the only thing that Nioh excels at is lying, manipulation and acting. Convincing herself so much and becoming so lost that to her there is no distinction between delusion and reality anymore.

"I think it is so, then it must be so."

Even when presented with evidence she is so disconnected that she will still deny the reality before her. She's narcassistic, arrogant and a sociopath who looks at other people as being inferior to herself. Her family were holding her back when she was alive, if they weren't there to excel beyond her then she would've been better. Her zanpakuto is at fault for not giving her its name by now. The desire to take shortcuts will always be justified and excused as someone else that justified the path.

Because of that, she'll pick on those weaker than her or take fights that she feels sure she can win. As opposed to really challenging herself. Nioh is a bully, she is not an excellent or incredible sword prodigy. It is a gross overstatement to call her a swordsman due to the blantant disrespect she has towards it as an artform or discipline. However, Nioh wants to be the best swordsman but no one will recognise her, so what does she do? Rather than work towards that goal she made it a goal to kill and slaughter anyone who showed promise as a swordsman, take their skills and mock them. Once there is no other revered swordsman but herself then who will contest her as that title?

As much as she deludes herself though there is a great downside to her imposter syndrome where the actual thought of losing or being defeated is enough to make her have a nervous breakdown at the idea that her projected image could be overcome.


A soul that existed in the turbulent times of the Meiji Restoration, Nioh passed away and was sent to the Soul Society prior to transformation into a hollow. After entering into the Rukongai.

» Footwork: As an individual and despite his old age, Zetsu's speed is first-rate but it is not only his speed but his ability to utilise the stepping techniques of the shinigami as well as his own ones developed in seclusion on the mountain peaks of Soul Society. He evades like a swallow and strikes his foes like a hawk, on the uneven footholds of the mountains and cliffs Zetsu is able to use almost anything as a suitable foothold.

» Master Swordsman: Having held a blade longer than many other experiences of his life, Zetsu claims to have mastered over six thousand different sword styles in his millennia alive. All of that is culminated into his sword school which is called



» Jūnimon Niou-ryuu [十二門仁王流, Two Kings' School of Twelve Gates]
The sword style practiced by Nioh which is actually closer to twelve different styles all coalesced into a single school. Each one is defined by something stolen from twelve strong victims of great virtue, their legacy lives on as a mockery as bastardised and corrupted arts taken by Nioh as a way to lord her victory over them. For the sake of concision, only the strongest move of the styles will be mentioned as she can rarely display the full extent of it with her mask's timer.

Shizanketsuga [屍山血河]] is the first great technique of her Juunimon Niouryuu. It begins with a stance as she evaluates the surroundings before relying pure swordsmanship to cut everything before her to ribbons which litters the ground in corpses and leaves it raining blood for a moment. It is a combination of both moving fast enough to attack everything around her and attacking them from multiple angles at the same time. The man she stole it off was a pacifist who would show his finesse and skill by performing the technique with enough precision to leave everyone unharmed, Nioh has turned it into a move for slaughter.

Kanshishiketsu [乾屎々橛] is the second great technique of her Juunimon Niouryuu. It is a technique which involves feigning an attack from the front before repositioning behind the oppone

Kōshūbenjo [公衆便所] is the second great technique of her Juunimon Niouryuu.

Kodaimōsou [誇大妄想] is the third great technique of her Juunimon Niouryuu. It is a technique which parries an attack before delivering a strike of equal force.

» Zanpakuto Name: Unknown.

» Spirit Summary: There is little known about her zanpakuto, she's got a very low aptitude for imprinting on her zanpakuto which is why it has remained an asauchi for so long. This relationship is further atrophied by the fact that she relies so heavily on her hollow powers and neglects the spirit.

» Inner Hollow Name: Niou [二王]

» Inner Hollow: A hollow who is rather disinterested with everything. She borders on being nihilistic at times by the feeling that nothing drives her, the very nature of her ability determines that she does not have to try and she feels unsatisfied as a result. A foil to her host's own feelings who she is jealous of at times and quick to anger when it's brought up. She wants to struggle and demands it, she's placid and doesn't often try to take over Nioh apropos of nothing - the main times that she'll show herself is when her host is scared and trying to run away from something. Nioh will often try to take advantage of her weakened state of mind to force Nioh to keep fighting so that she can experience second-hand struggle.

» Inner Hollow Powers: The sole power of Niou is its ability to acquire all memories of their victim that they devours. What is distinct about this ability though is that Niou does not take just the thoughts of the target but the memories of their body as well. She acquires their muscle memory and motor skills which has made her a first-rate swordsman after devouring many different shinigami and mastered much of their swordsmanship.

» Vizard Powers: When wearing her mask, Nioh gains access to her inner hollow's stolen knowledge and shows a dramatic increase with her martial proficiency to the point that she is hailed in the Rukongai as a monstrous entity who appears and kills prospective swordsmen, steal their skills and move on. This is best represented that Nioh is only able to utilise her Juunimon Niouryuu, and the full extent of her Martial skill when she is wearing her hollow mask.
