Knock. Knock. Knock.

Closed eyes began to open, the harsh light of day meeting them as the owner forced his lids closed once more. …Mmm… Hazy thoughts drifted back and forth, light stirring occurring. Two human hands gripped around the blankets, pulling them up and over the man's head. Beneath them, he slowly began to open his eyes once more, greeted with the color of the green sheet. Drawing it down, he allowed for the sunlight to pass over him once more, his eyes open as his body stretched beneath the blankets.

Old habits could die hard for a man who had once lived and breathed. He lay in his loose-fitting hikomori, shaking his head as he returned back to consciousness. Were the clothes necessary? Absolutely not. He could have worn whatever he liked, but this is what he defaulted to. Speaking of old habits…

"Give me a few minutes."

The clear noise passed from the speaker system at the front of the building, as a crevice in the nearby window opened. From the window's crack, a lazy line of smoke rose from the building, as the occupant took drag after drag of his worst habit. Finally, the smoke stopped pouring from the window, and it shut once more.

A few more moments passed, the door was slid to the side, a man appearing behind it. He wore dress pants and a clean white dress shirt, the butt of the cigarette still between his lips. His hair was a shining blonde, and a good bit longer than most men's, but not distastefully so. He seemed to have an athletic build, but the most striking thing about him was his eyes. Bright blue spheres stared directly at his visitor, his hands tucked into his pockets.

"…Hmm."

Kyu's mind was getting assailed with information. His Cyber Eye analyzed this woman, trying to get a reading of how strong she was. If she did not have something cloaking her energy, he would get a general idea of how much she was able to output, somewhere between blue, green, and red.

This woman's taste in clothing was also… surprising, to say the least. Long ago, he had been at least slightly obsessed with women like this. She was dressed so… fancily. It was striking to him. Although, considering he wore a suit and tie when he was active during the day, he supposed that he could not fault her for it.

"…Can I help you? Are you here on some kind of official business?" He asked her, getting an… unusual feeling. Truth be told, he wanted this woman to… Leave me alone, huh? How long has it been? You keep having to go to that awful place just so you can think straight. You could--… I could treat her like any other person. Kyu's mind drifted back and forth from a moment, moving at a million miles per second. On the surface, however, he appeared to be completely still, his eyes still looking at the blindfold she wore.

Finally. The two lands and the kingdoms had become one. It was due time, but finally, the two Kingdoms of Egypt, the Upper and Lower had become one. The pharaoh, the first pharaoh was the ruling law of the land. Being the first of his kind, he was known by many names and by no names. Some called him Narmer, others called him Menes or Scorpion. No one was truly sure of his real name. However, one thing was truly believed to be true. Like pharaohs that would come before him, he was seen as Horus in his human form until the time of his death where he would ascend to his dominion as Ra. Aside from the upheaval, there was much growing and development in the land. Agriculture was becoming quite common, and even some animals had been domesticated. The Egyptians were starting to get subtle glimpses of how to control the yearly overflows of the Nile river even though they were still many years ahead from fully understanding it.

Among the many known families, none was as widely known and respected as the direct family of the pharaoh. Nevertheless, there were a number of families that were of some considerable status and respected throughout the land. The Renenet's were among the most renowned. The patriarchs in the family were known for being fierce and loyal warriors and the woman in the family had a long history of being devoted to the gods and priesthood. Emu was no different. From an early age she was brought up with the goal to serve her pharaoh. What's more, her life was to be dedicated to the gods and the ruler who stood as a personification of Horus. It was never clear why her name was chosen. However, some may that at the time of her birth, the house was unusually surrounded by cats. Since cats were sacred and seen as a reflection of grace and poised, the sight was a welcomed one, and thus her name.

When she was of age, around her early to mid teenage years, she was sent to the Pharaoh's domain. Although young, her beauty was unmatched during the time. Even the Pharaoh's main wife, who was highly thought of as being the most beautiful woman to have ever been seen in Egypt until then was overshadowed by Emu's natural beauty. It was not long before the ruler's eyes were on her. But for the time being, it was thankfully only his eyes which explored her young body. At the temples, she was an active member of the prayers and worships of the gods and was always congratulated by the High Priest. Aside from the Pharaoh and his main wife, the High Priest was likely the other individual with the most power in the land.

As she spent her time in the temples, Emu rarely went to the outside or saw her family. It was not rare however. She always knew and was told that becoming a priestess would be an entirely new life for her. Having been devoted entirely to the plight of the people and their connection to their gods, she had been delivered to them and spared the human connections of blood she had had prior to becoming a woman of the gods. She was not the only one however. Though her fame and status was well known as one of the most fair and devoted maidens, there were quite a number of priestesses. For the most part, they were all very beautiful woman. They were all virgins as well, at least when they got there. Though the pharaoh had quite a lot of wives aside from his main spouse, he seemed to have a very keen interest on the maidens. The maidens of the gods, much like the pharaoh as the personification of human Horus were, supposedly, beyond the mortal realm. Thus, it was against the law for anyone to touch or engage in any vile, or sexual way with a virgin priest of the gods. It would seem the Pharaoh was an exception. Quite often, specially when he was bored, he would seek out the maidens and sleep with them, many of which had bared a child. None had really rejected him. As servants of the gods it would not be wise to upset the personification of Horus. Emu was somewhat different. Perhaps it had been because of her widely known status and popularity with the people when her name was heard, but she had not yet being touched in any incident way by the ruler. On the other hand however, no one was to touch the Pharaoh's wife. For anyone who did so, or laid a hand one a priestess, aside from the Pharaoh, the worst kind of torture and death awaited them.

Unlike what some would have believed, it was rather quickly that Emu and the ruler's wife befriended eachother. The wife was aware that Emu had yet to be touched by her husband. Also, the clear devotion and honesty of the virgin priestess was evident, and thus, Emu became her confidant. Her devotion to the gods and the spirits were such that, on rare occasions, she was seen speaking to herself or onto empty spaces of air. She was just thought to be commuting with spirits, and in a way, she was. Emu was able to see some spirits, and even converse with them.
