A Memory of the Pale (Private) Empty A Memory of the Pale (Private)

Tue Apr 01, 2014 12:37 pm

The dusk settled into the air, clouds slowly formed through the location. It was a rainy sky that was able to be seen through the night air, the dawn would be upon them soon. This was a day that had been burned into the memory of Tsubasa Unabara, his past was something cloudy at best. His clan knew truth, others only knew the deception that he played so well. His clan robe blew in the wind as he silently looked on at the situation. His crimson gaze seemed stretched on, the seven sins stood on standby with him. The assassins were ready to fight, though this was under the illusion it was a fair battle. Tsubasa wore the mask of the pale horse, the others wore masks of their respective symbols. Each sin had one after all, Pride lead the unit that guarded him on these missions. Known as the Seven Sins of the Unabara, Tsubasa had personally trained each of them into lethal killing machines. He listened quietly as the plan was discussed in the open by the seven, Pride seemed to be leaning towards his usual tactics.

Wrath and him argued constantly, he wished to rush in and fight with blood boiling. [color=red]"Enough."] Tsubasa's single word was enough to silence them, he'd on looked the situation now. They were out numbered and survival was on the line here, the Unabara would die against this enemy. That was clear to him, Tsubasa's body gave off that murderous aura as he looked at them. The choice was clear, they couldn't run nor could they fight. Tsubasa weighed the options for a moment as they looked at him. He and the seven couldn't do it even together, to many existed. Tsubasa wasn't frightened of the choice was about to make. He slowly drew his sword now as he got ready to do what was needed. "Quietly move the clan to section X, Nis will aid you." They protested as Tsubasa walked down towards the valley of the Pale. The place he would define himself as a person, Tsubasa would learn that anything could be done. His heart weighed with one word, survive he had to survive for Tsubaki.

He made a vow and it was here he would fight tooth and nail. Tsubasa raised his sword steadily now, his eyes looking on as the leader drank. The man had his back turned, surely an opening such as this. Tsubasa brushed past people, he wasn't noticed not yet. He raised his sword giving a single stroke of the blade down cutting the leader of this band in half, the man's blood stained Tsubasa's clothing. He gave his sword a flick as he glanced around, their were about fifteen hundred here that was quite the odds. But numbers were meaningless, would he release his Zanpakutō and wipe out as many as possible? No not yet, the Unabara were close but he needed to focus in on what was going on. Tsubasa dodged a sword strike of one slicing him and quickly hitting the next one before he could finish. Cutting two down he began instantly moving, Tsubasa was in survival mode and this was dangerous as his eyes glowed. This day would be looked upon as a slaughter by many as Tsubasa did it as such.

His form continued moving cutting enemies down a question came to him as he continued this butchery. Dodging a released shikai of a shinigami, he ran his sword along the edge before cutting the man's head clean off. His form was in constant motion when he wondered the questions, things began to dawn on his mind as he fought to survive. "What is strength? Is it what I'm doing here, is this strength?" The question remained as he had cut down one hundred of them at this point, using his Zanjutsu skills to do the task. Tsubasa's swordplay already surpassed that of most who claimed title of Master but that was due to his strict training. "What am I doing here? Why am I doing this, what's the reason?" Tsubasa would have to reach a conclusion as he cut down a giant of a man next using his Zanpakutō to slice the large man in half. His form moving around like a flash as the dusk and mist continued to cover the area. The one man war continued to be fought, but Tsubasa believed they would die.

He could hear names being called, the Demon of the Unabara, the Pale Horse has come to the Pale. Many called him names that made little sense to him as he continued fighting. His body felt exhausted but it wasn't an option his family needed to live. Is that it, is that why I am fighting a battle I can't win? Is it for my family, what else is there the world surely is bigger than a simple battlefield. The musing continued as he hit five hundred the place he fought was bodies that hadn't yet disappeared. Fights like this were common after all it was the Zeraki district before anything else came. Tsubasa had lost count here, he had been fighting for so long it felt like a battle that none would of imagined. He couldn't tell what was going on anymore he'd shut off everything his thinking and mind for now. Leaving only the barest instincts to handle the situation at hand. Using so far only his sword, he raised his hand releasing a massive Hadō 88 effortlessly and vaporizing many of the enemies before him. His eyes remained cold and empty as he continued.

The blade work and fighting was all left to him right now, he fired kidos when he saw the openings. Tsubasa was a skilled warrior in many aspects as he fought to kill. His swordplay left few if any survivors, but the question remained why did he murder this many? What was the purpose couldn't they have escaped with him, or did he catch them off guard? He lost count but only ten remained at this point, the night sky was slowly fading. The sun was rising as he looked on with empty eyes cutting down the last one. He had a couple injuries but nothing severe enough to stop him. His breathing was heavy as blood and sweat covered him. Could he catch up with his family or would he be dead here, the questions came back as he found himself resting by a campfire. The death count here was extreme as he began catching his breath. Looking around with his radar he detected nothing that seemed like threats.

Coughing slightly as he laid down his body was so tired, exhaustion finally took it's tool. But this journey wasn't over yet it had more of a toll to extract from him. Tsubasa's crimson gaze looked at the sky, ignoring the fact that he'd just killed fifteen hundred people on his own. Tsubasa defied the odds and won his families survival but why had he done it? Their isn't an answer Tsubasa decided, survival doesn't need one. His eyes closed as he calmed his breathing. Getting things out to clean his Zanpakutō of the blade, the steel was almost stained red as he would clean himself second. Tsubasa took care of his sword better than most people take care of family or even their lovers. He had one method to survive and it had to be at it's best everyday. He could hear a growl coming to him it sounded like a tiger, his eyes glanced at Byakko now petting it's head softly. The creature formed to keep him company more or less, not to mention watch over him.

After he finished cleaning, he brought his sword to rest against his shoulder softly. Despite a victory this wasn't over he only had destroyed this families advanced unit he expected more. But such a display would scare them he didn't doubt it, they would disappear in a couple days of course. The dead always did his eyes looked on as he glanced at his hands, blood trickled down them from how much he'd swung his sword. The invention of Nanobots was helpful as they tended to the torn muscles and body damage he inflicted on himself in this skirmish. Pride had children and family to return too, Tsubasa was but the man who lead them. More importance was their and he owed them a debt of honor. That man would return even if he did not, Tsubasa was loved in the family. But why love someone like him, he failed Tsubaki and that accident defined him. He was a killer nothing more, it was the truth but more existed than that surely. He studied endlessly and found ways to make himself better as he did his training.

The fog of a battle once fought never left his mind, Tsubasa knew the answer to a couple questions. But one would remain without an answer both now and later. What is Strength, what is it it plagued him so. Wasn't this strength, no that didn't feel right to him. Strength was something else, the power to kill your enemy wasn't strength not true strength anyways.

Somewhere, hidden beneath stacks of paper that circumnavigated around her desk, was Unohana Retsu, Captain of the Fourth Division and merit to the traditions upheld by the Gotei 13. With the amount of care that was needed to ensure the lives of those affected by Sousuke Aizen's treacherous deeds it was mandatory that their records were updated or marked as deceased as they permitted. She left the actual work to those that were below her, her Vice Captain taking charge of all matters. While she hadn't of minded tending to each patient in the bay herself, she felt the need to allow such training to be conducted for her division's members so that they would understand the stress and work that is taken during times of war. Even if the battle had been over for quite some while they were still treating members of the Gotei that had more long term effects and required additional attention. In the meantime, Unohana would tend to their records and make ensure that all was well with them on paper. Though the job was tedious, she saw little irritation in having to do so as it was a part of her job, and one she considered to paramount.

As she at her desk, her eyes dimly open as she sat with a keen posture, no flaw was found in the arch of her back and positioning of her shoulders. Slaying away, writing the condition of each and every member that attended her bay. She removed her eyes from the folder that was below her hand's motions and looked up to find a hell's butterfly proceeding to her direction. She carelessly placed her hand up and continued to work on as she awaited the butterfly to land on her index finger. She figured the message would be one that wouldn't require much attention, thus continued to work. The small black legs of the butterfly attached themselves to her nerves as the wings fluttered before lying still, the message beginning to transmit through her central nervous system and to her brain. All of this happening in a mere matter of seconds.

A voice riddled with fear, one that was unfamiliar to Unohana, emitted into her brain which cased her to remove attention from her work once more. She blankly stared in front of her, the mass wall of medical records blocking her from seeing anything past it. "A-an onslaught! Near... one-thous--no. Fifteen hundred deaths. Requiring medical attention immediately, Rukongai District 80!" It was obvious to Unohana that there was in no way that 1500 of the Gotei's members had made their way out to the Zaraki district, not without her own knowing. She knew that this was something that hardly required the attention of her and her men, but would seek to it that those that were laid to rest would find their way back to their families. Her eyes returned back to her paper as she finished writing the last few words that were required of her on the document, it'd only take her a minute before she lay her quill to rest. The Hell's butterfly disembarked from her nerves and flew off to its next destination.

She planted her hand on her desk and removed her rear from the chair that was beneath her. As she rose up she her eyes became dim once more as she placed her hands in one another, her sleeves hid them. She rounded her desk and grasped her Zanpakutō that was placed on a stand adjacent to her desk with her right hand and placed it over her shoulder and continued to move on toward the door gracefully. She could tell that her Vice Captain stood just at the door and stopped walking for a brief second in order to relay the message. "There has been an event in the Zaraki District of Rukongai, I will go ahead. You muster up the Division to prepare for mass casualties, we will need few people here so send all that are able to come." She spoke with complete calmness, not letting the situation at hand to disturb her thoughts or words. She would continue on through the doorway and pass her Vice Captain who was frozen at the door from shock, the Vice Captain formally bowed and then saluted her verbally before running off and barking orders.

Walking outside, Unohana released Minazuki, her Zanpakutō, the blade began to melt into a green fog that encompassed a large area in front of her before it slowly began to form into the large manta-ray that she would call friend. She walked aboard and softly pat the large green aquatic land creature as it let out small melodic cry before blasting off toward the walls of the Seireitei. As she approached them she ordered Minazuki to scale the wall at which she would not have to wait for the gate to be opened for her and she would have to find a way through the barrier. However, such a feet for her would be meager. She placed her hand in front of her, remaining seated, and released a Hadō with no incantation or name, but the size of it would be just enough for her and Minazuki to make its way through with no struggle. Passing through the barrier she placed her hand back into the grasp of the other and continued on toward the Zaraki Division. Nearing the area, Unohana removed herself from Minazuki as he continued on then turned around to settle down in a close proximity to her. She looked over at the manta ray giving it a subtle nod to which it nodded and let out another cry before opening its mouth and bringing the deceased to its stomach. While the manta ray was able to only carry but 10 or 12 comfortably within its stomach there would be no need for comfort with the deceased, allowing him to carry up to twenty of the fallen blood-battered men. There wasn't a place for any person to move without finding their footing on the wardrobe, or lack their of, of a fallen soldier. She crouched do to analyze the wound placed onto a few of the men around her, it was evident that the slashes were consistent and was the work of a sole being. She saw the garb that some of them wore holding an emblem that must have had some meaning, but she was unfamiliar with it. She stood up and looked to Minazuki who continued to pick up the bodies. "I trust you can make a better pile of these men. Returning them to their families may not be worth our merit. It seems that their family had died here on the ground with them for the most. We shall burn the bodies in remembrance, my squad members will follow your lead. I will tend elsewhere." She spoke, her voice slightly heightened due to the amount of space between the two. Minazuki would release yet another cry in compliance with her orders and continue on. She grasped the emblem of one of the fallen that seemed to be in smaller numbers compared to the others and tore it from it's robe and placed her hand back to her arm continuing off to a direction opposite of the battle. Her pace was casual as it was always, as she had determined that there was no need to rush her movement nor would their be a need for a weapon. If worse came to worse she'd result to kido to subdue the culprit. Though it wasn't her job, it seemed that other forces were taking their sweet time with arriving to the scene. There was little to be done medically so it would be a waste of her talent to just wait and watch as the men were piled up to be put to ash.

She could sense the presence of a spiritual being in the area, one that could only amount to the sort of kill count that had just been produced. She followed the trace of energy that he left behind, careless in his actions or unaware of them. She knew it not to be a trap as she could sense the fluctuation in his spiritual energy showing lack of control. As she neared the area a small fire was visible, to which she opened her eyes enough to see a man that looked near exhaustion sitting next to it. She proceeded on to the man leaving the element of surprise for her arrive out of the question, her footsteps would likely give her positioning away well before she would arrive. "To what do I owe the acquaintance of such a man and his sword... I take it you are aware of the consequences and have came here knowing that such efforts will not go unpunished in the Soul Society." Her words were gentle, but stern all the same. She kept to her posture and didn't remove her hands from each other, keeping them hidden to the man. Still holding on to the emblem, which proved to be something she wouldn't have needed in the first place as his robes were clearly displayed. "We will not let such a travesty go without trial, in the mean time you may lay your eyes to rest in the foundation of imprisonment. I ask you come quietly as I am unarmed and wish not to struggle with your capture. The easier this is for me, the better your trial will be." She moved slightly toward the man awaiting for him to stand up right so that she could lead him back to the Soul Society where he'd face a fair and well heard trial for his actions upon war within the Soul Society.

However, something bothered her about the man that was before her. She sensed that something troubled the soul, but not in the way that battle would. He seemed to have no sense of resentment of his actions, but more of in himself. She was only able to tell this from the readings she received from his reiatsu, but they were more than enough to diagnose his mental struggle, his facial readings transmitting the same message. She wished to know what troubled his mind, but saw it to be unprofessional and with time slowly burning away it was only a matter of time before the Second Division made their way here to arrest him. Time was of the essence...

His crimson gaze looked on at the female, he silently stood up sheathing his sword after being certain it was cleaned. "Give me a hand with this.." He said it calmly as he walked over towards one of the bodies softly wrapping the person up Tsubasa was many things but dishonorable wasn't one of them. He had prepared a fire as was their own custom. " I must honor their traditions." Tsubasa carefully went and began carrying each body to the flame, he'd been here a while certainly she had noticed it. His eyes of crimson had fire dancing with them as he gazed on at it. Perhaps you can tell me, why do people chase us..we desire nothing but peace, yet they come knives and swords drawn..Is this what's needed to survive in this world? What is strength, is it this..no..that can't be right, it must be more..the Old man was strong and he didn't settle on this. " Tsubasa said his words to Unohana, he couldn't tell what else to do. She'd most likely felt it a small settlement worth of people was running.

Tsubasa and perhaps eight others were capable fighters, though he didn't understand why these men wished this. They chased them, hounded them, never giving them a moment. Ever since these people showed up with Tsubaki they'd been angry wishing nothing but the demise of the clan. This group of people, he didn't know their name but understood they believed in being burned. Tsubasa would handle the dead as it was his duty. As the one who killed them he had made the mess and had the task of taking care of the people. He was young but had built a very strong foundation of what he was. Even to one such as Unohana, his eyes peered at her again now something about her felt contained. Was she holding something back, judging by her attire she was the Gotei 13's healer. His eyes looked at the fire as he than glanced up his Zanpakutō was letting out growls now and than. He could translate them rather effortlessly, yes Byakko could speak normally. But these were specially for him only, it was warnings to be careful about this one.

Tsubasa pulled some seed's from his clothing now, as he prepared soil for it. Blood stained hands able to farm, this was something he could do. [color=red]" I cannot yet allow myself to be arrested, sorry but for Tsubaki's sake I need to protect them. From this place and the darkness that follows us, survive...that's all we can do."[color] Tsubasa said calmly as he planted the seed, not many were as good as he was at the art of farming. But he seemed like a very talented youth, he pulled out notes from his clothing as well. Resting yet again, he wrote down a list of herbs that had certain effects. He was working on the medical journal of something massive, he had things on each races current medical practices. He listed the Gotei 13's healing as the higher quality. He didn't write about personalities his eyes looked on as he softly brought his sword up. Something about the way he handled it was delicate and somehow powerful.

Shunsui Kyoraku had heard about this young man from Damien a friend of his more than recently, a child with great skill who sought all knowledge. Just so he could aid them, protect his family. Tsubasa was the families number one medical mind as he continued moving on. His eyes looked around he'd not killed everyone as he softly pulled a couple seed's and herbs he softly lit the end on fire. Channeling a slight amount of his reiatsu into them, being delicate with his control did fifteen hundred people die here. Well almost, Tsubasa had gone and stabbed every single one through the heart. Some still breathed and he was tending to their injuries carefully. The method was similar to a sage method, the aroma filled the air as the herbs he chose to burn. Gave off a smell that covered this area soon, it was relaxing. The properties of the plants was to keep a person's mind going. It restored reiatsu and did happen to help some with injuries, his frame sat down watching the fire.

"It's my belief as the one who killed them, I must see them to other side..And help those I didn't kill, just a monster I suppose pretending to be someone." Tsubasa said it passively, he was talking only because she was here. His clan was not and he could openly do so, as a boy he spoke when away from them. Because well they needed to see the silent mind working constantly protecting them, it brought them comfort. He didn't realize it would reflect on him later as he got older. That silence would become a key personality trait for him, this was Unohana Retsu as he did admire her work as a medical professional. He was tempted to ask how she treated multiple wounds on many people his method was fine. But she certainly had better, that was something he was fairly sure on. How old was Tsubasa well that was something one could debt for an eternity but the fact is at this age he was young and still learning his power. He he swung his sword seventeen thousand times a day practicing control.

What an odd boy this one was, after slaying each and everyone he still found it to be necessary that they see their life to a proper end, not one filled with pain and agony; slowly bleeding out until little dignity was left in them. However, such a way of sincerity was common in a warrior. It was not just to let a worthy opponent, or any opponent be frank, fall to their death improperly. A slow death would be considered one that is ill-made, and shows that the man that slew them was not admirable enough as a warrior to kill them precisely. The actions of Tsubasa seemed to humble Unohana's first thoughts of him, which would make her job easier. However, she felt no need to heal the entirety of the battlefield as it wouldn't be beneficial to the Soul Society. The men that were spread upon the ground were, to Unohana, likely to be delinquents that caused havoc to where ever it was they resided. She looked over to the bodies around her and saw the feint amount of movement in either their back or chest, yet they made no noise. Perhaps this was in order to preserve their last moments alive, or maybe it was because they wished to make their death a bit more steadfast through asphyxiation. Either way, they were criminals and it would be Unohana's duty to see them to their death or see them to prison. It was not a choice that was to be made by her, even as the Captain of the Gotei 13. Bending the rules had never been a part of her persona and she didn't plan on changing herself anytime soon, not for the likes of these men, at least.

When the man asked her for assistance she slowly walked to his location, she'd stand where she was and watched as he picked up body after body and placed it to the fire he had created. "That is not the reason I have came here." She'd continue to watch him move the bodies and recognize the ones that still lived, leaving them for some other alternative. She'd passively ignore his query of strength.

Kneeling beside him glancing at the facial expressions that were created on his face. Puzzled them she looked to the herb to which he channeled his reiatsu to and lightly chuckled at his meager attempts to use herbs for healing. While it was a prosperous way to do so without the proper training, Unohana had lost interest in herbal healing a long time ago. It showed to require very little skill, too much knowledge, and no power. While she held the knowledge within her to do so it wouldn't be much of a task to mend the open wounds and internal damage set upon those still breathing. She'd simply place their reiatsu in tandem with her own and let their body repair itself with the guidance of her hand. She stood back and looked back toward her comrades that had slowly began to show up and began to help with the transfer of bodies to one location. "You will speak nothing of the things that happen on this day. I will watch over you in your healing in order to make sure that you don't send them to their improper grave. While I am mender of the soul, I cannot lend my hand to such criminals unless they are to be brought back with me. Through respect of your will and resolve, I will turn the other cheek if they were to flea." Her words did not flutter from her usual tone, stern yet gentle, her gaze never breaking from his figure. Though she was curious as to what he would think of her choice over the matter. "However, I trust you don't wish for these men to live for long, or for I maybe mistaken. As it seems that you wish to protect something, could it be something to do with this?" She flashed the emblem to him and then threw it to the ground, not to mean anything in a harsh demeanor. She simply saw it pointless to continue to hold to something he knew well.

She walked a few steps away facing her comrades watching to see if any seemed to be affixiated on what she was doing or why she had not did anything to restrain the culprit. Turning her head she was able to smell the aroma that began to fill the area, this would likely bring attention to them. "This is why I do not result my healing to herbs... you cannot do so quietly. You should take proper precautions to the area surrounding you before you do such things. Not a wise decision made, but I suppose I can do you one favor as serving as lookout is not what I intended to do here." She removed the grasp she frequently kept upon her forearms and stood in concentration for a moment. "Hachigyō..." She inhaled to an extent and rapidly put her hands together as she exhaled finishing the name of the protection barrier she was about to cast. "...Sōgai!" She said at a soft volume and high velocity as the orange barrier began to form at rapid speed and then vanish from sight to those outside of it. While it was a barrier that was primarily used by Vizards, Unohana had picked the Kido up from the division's Captain as he studied the race. For one reason or another he saw it paramount to provide Unohana with the information to insure a safe place in a time of war. Though her use was ill-brought, perhaps, she had a slight yearn to use it for sometime. The two were now concealed with the bodies spread upon the ground, however Unohana wished to still make herself clear.

She was aware that she had ignored his question of strength, it wasn't something that she had kept her mind on. She simply wished to see other things to their end before doing so. While she wished to enlighten the man on her opinion of strength, at this point she felt it to be a useless topic as she was unsure of the mental stability he held in him for such a touching matter. One's opinion on strength could be insulting to another and the last thing Unohana wanted to do was provoke someone that was able to scale to this amount of mass murder. Nonetheless, she felt a need to repeat herself of his future. "I did not come here to aid you in the proper death of the fallen, nor will I. I am simply here as an ambassador of the Gotei 13, while my main duty there is to heal it seems that fate has turned a leaf of luck in your favor. Had another Captain arrived to the scene first... I don't think I must finish that statement, I'm sure you're well aware of the harsh actions the Gotei 13 has committed in the past. There is little need to recall them to present." She turned back and head toward the man once more, she wished to stop him from continuing with his actions, but she didn't wish to provoke him to a state that she would be forced to act. There was something about this man that was unclear for Unohana and it wasn't something that seemed harmful to her. "Now, I am going to ask that you come to terms with your fate. As I said, you are lucky that I have a merit for life and one to my duty. I wish more from you than a quick death, as we need to pull some information from you on this situation. However, I will let you honor those that are here within this barrier, the others will be taken care of by my men." She wished for him to see some sort of light that would make him come one with these thoughts, though she was not too sure if whether or not he would. It seemed that he had become mentally scarred for the time being due to the battle, she would ease him into the right decision.

She watched as he sat down watching the flame ember up to the sky above, the barrier let the smoke escape from it's protective clause. He spoke and explained himself to be a monster that wished to be different. As apparent to Unohana that was she'd try to make her way into a healthier state of mind for the lad, as it would only make things easier in the end. "They say monsters hold a certain look to their eye and a grin to their face. Their mouth salivating in the sight of blood and their heart racing with each wale in pain. Tell me, do these things hold true to you, not just in battle but as a being. Have you let your past-life fade from you, do you hold no humanity within you to this day? I've yet to see a monster that holds to honor such as yourself. There is a difference between killing and slaughtering, with these numbers it is hard not to call it a slaughter. However, any person with the right mind of battle can look at these wounds and tell these men were killed and not slaughtered. While there is error in some, no one is perfect. A monster is capable of slaughtering, while a warrior is only capable of killing." She'd see to it her words made there point to Tsubasa, she'd near toward his position and look down on him. "Now, look me in the eyes and tell me you are a monster. I will be able to tell... as no monster lives on without knowing another..."

"Heh..than I shall you look at you as I did them..." His left hand softly came up and ran through the blonde hair, something about his aura changed. Crimson aura surrounded his body, the feeling of being stabbed was sent out everywhere. His eyes held the absolute desire to spill blood, it wasn't like they had purpose other than to die. His hand shook as though being restrained from the action it wished. Their was a demonic feeling, such blood lust was only common among the worst. However some hollows and demons were capable of similar, but for a young Shinigami to produce such a killing intent. This was perhaps the first time for Unohana to feel something like this. His eyes glowed crimson, it wasn't as though this would simply go away his eyes seemed to contain death in them, Tsubasa claimed to be just another monster. His voice came out something was colder than perhaps the harshness of most. Yet for some reason simple words which normally didn't have such an effect came out as such. "A monster exists within all."

His eyes closed as he exhaled a breath, trying to calm his murderous aura now letting the intent wash off him as though it did not exist. The feeling some got was simple, like an animal cornered it didn't care what enemy or battle stood before it. His eyes opened slowly as he looked back to the fire, letting them take in what he'd shown them. Tsubasa Unabara a puzzle, Damien had fought him and come to the conclusion that fighting him was dangerous. Because of how quickly he picked up things, his eyes regarded the spells slowly. Taking each one into vision, he seemed to be decoding them and learning rather quickly. His method was smaller than what most would understand, he didn't respond to many of Unohana's questions. Flipping that switch was tiring and something about it felt uneasy, he could feel the desire to slaughter everyone in one hundred yards in his chest. But turning it off and becoming the leader he needed to become.

That was something, the birds of the area had flown away due to the murderous aura he could produce. A warrior kills because he has to do so, Tsubasa Unabara brought the Warrior and Monster together. To become something of his own, a breed that didn't resemble anything of this age. His blonde hair blew softly in the wind as did his coat, he continued working letting her handle the people he'd not slain. Some were frightened saying that the man appeared out of no where and slew their leader..Man didn't understand how Tsubasa did this feat, but he had the power to erase his presence and walk through entire crowds of people undetected. Becoming like the wind and slipping passing by people, Tsubasa didn't seem ordinary a destiny was waiting for him larger than most could ever predict. His eyes closed, he'd not let out the spiritual pressure within him. Something strong lurked inside him, far more than most people his age could ever come to. But he seemed somewhat aware of his strength, as he restrained himself decently.

But at the moment when the switch had been flipped, a small amount slipped from his control. But it was enough to let the Female Captain glance inside of him, his Zanpakutō and just how far he'd come along. He was young and yet had already learned the art of Banaki on his own. Byakko and he had a close relationship, his form sat now letting the fire burn for a while. Something needed to happen to help his clan stay free of these, she allowed him to complete his task. The traditions of this clan would be upheld, he got up walking past several of her squad mates almost disappearing. Something about the way he moved seemed as though he moved with the very flow of air itself. Allowing him to almost distinguish the presence he gave off. A leader who stood among the grunts and believed in getting his hands dirty. He grabbed a couple more bodies carrying them effortlessly, his determined mind was set on seeing the people he killed off. Unohana would have words for him, of that he was certain.

He sat down once again, continuing to do little to nothing as he could of easily done something. His digits clenched slowly as he looked in the fire, he could feel Tsubaki's eyes on him. Tsubasa looked forward as their was only that direction for him to look, things were truly hard for those that looked backwards. Tsubasa stood at the back and yet at the front, he was the person who didn't move from his mistake. Killing Tsubaki made him a murderer, he had the eyes of someone who had done something they had held regret for. But what ever it was the layers he gave were far to complex to find exactly what it was. Perhaps even the great Unohana wouldn't be able to find her way through the maze of a boy that stood before her. Tsubasa was young compared to her and others, but his eyes held experience and knowledge. He already understood things that people twice his age could not, their was something about him an air he gave off that simply remained an enigma.

The boy's words seemed to rattle within the confines of her cranium as she walked leisurely to one of the wounded, clearly still breathing. A subtle smile came to her face as she took a knee beside his body. The man's hair was long and aggravated by the impurities of battle, however some sense of accomplishment seemed to be settled into the face of the man that was beside her. As though he had earned some right to do the work of a higher being, choosing the end the life one someone he knew little to none. It was evident that they had their grudges, insecurities, and felt hostile toward those that opposed them on this day, but it was hard to tell what all of these were compromised of. Where all these imperfections in a humble life began to brew or how they came about to such actions. Such actions that would lead to herself wiping the bloodied hair from the man's face to see the serene beauty that the man was able to capture in his last moments. However, her job would be to prevent them from being his last. Her hand moved gracefully down the cheek of his face as his eyes caught a glimpse of her own. "To what honor do I have to be seen by such a goddess?" The man inquired as he placed his nervous hands upon the pale skin of her hand. His digits trembled to keep curled around her hand, pain seemed to overcome his ability to stay still and blood loss only added to the effect. She simply made a soft giggle to the man's remark before grasping his hand and placing it upon his side. Closing her eyes she searched for the disruption in his spiritual pressure that tried to quickly heal the wounds to his body, but there was so much to be done on being. She could sense not only the physical damage that the man had endured but the mental damage as well. Yet, he still spoke the way he did about her. Death seemed to be no fear to those that spread themselves on the ground. She inhaled deeply, exhaling slowly throughout her nostrils as her hands began to glow a bright green hue encasing the body with her own inner life force reaching out to cycle her own with his. It was a risky thing to do, using a healing technique such as this, but she had grown used to the effects that came of it long ago and bringing this man to stability would be no great feat compared to her prior doings.

Near a minute had passed before she released the man of her spiritual energy. She watched the elevation of his chest change from a staggered raise to a more fluent one. Placing her hand on his chest and sliding her finger to a seem of his garment that was battle worn into a tear she checked for visual confirmation that her job was done well enough to leave him for later treatment. She pressed upon the ground relieving her knees of her body's weight bringing herself to her feet a position that she had come to know too much in her line of work. She looked to the man standing next to the flame as its embers rose up to the top of the orange ceiling that was comprised of spiritual energy. It had seemed that he had brought himself down from the ill-mannered endeavor that he had brought himself to, his words still seemed to ring in her ears the entirety of her healing process. Though her thoughts on them weren't exactly very flat, but rigid. There was a part of her that wanted to match his monstrosity with that of her own, perhaps then he would see what it truly meant to be a monster. Her power was nothing but a blood-thirsty tool that would be best used in the lines of torture, but her long years of work to keep that menacing side of herself from showing would not prove to be beneficial for the sake of one soul.

The man before her was readable to a certain extent, the aura that rose from him for the distinct moment and a small duration afterward opened up a conglomerate being. Someone that was composed of so much internal and physical capabilities that it made it near impossible for one to understand. Unohana, as old as she was, still kept a captive thought of the man brawling out toward her. However, at the same time she just felt as though he was searching for answers, then again, so was everyone else. No matter their walk of life. If she had it her way, she would reach out with her life's wisdom to spread light to the mans darkened path, however his actions were so distant of her. It seemed as though, while he wanted answers for his sins and wrong-doings in the name of his family he also did not want to lay distrust in his actions for them. An enigma to the eyes of Unohana, one that was internal and couldn't just be mended by force or kido. It was something that would have to be stitched one press of the needle at a time. Soon he would find his answers to be true, but the least she could do was be so kind to bring herself to the understanding that bringing this man in for questioning would do the Gotei 13 no good.

No, no, bringing in such being would prove no justice to what had come of this day. One man could not sit trial for the slaying of all of these men when it was done for a higher organization. One that wasn't familiar to her since she began to sit at the desk within the Fourth Division. She had lost a lot of the info that she once knew, as well as the certain authoritative right she once held. However, that was the reasoning to her leaving her former position. She was growing in age and the stress seemed to be showing during those days, while it ached to make such a life-changing decision she knew that the right to sit upon that chair would always be there for the taking if she so wished it to be. Nonetheless, bringing this man to justice for something that seemed to not be a confirmed choice of his own did not seem like the right thing to do in the situation.

She slowly approached his left side placing her hands at their rightful places as she gracefully made her way to him, as usual. However, the closer she came to the man the more aware she became of the extremities of being so close to a cold-blooded killer could be. Yet, it didn't seem to phase her visual facial expression. She seemed to be content as ever, he was no different than anyone else. As he said there was a monster in someone. Being but inches away from him she placed her right hand on his shoulder to provide some sort of motherly support, or to something of that effect. She cleared her throat in hesitation of her words, unsure of what exactly to the say to the man. "I'd dare to ask if you would even be considered a monster in the same light of some others. These casualties had purpose did they not? I'm sure you'd find yourself riddled with all sorts of things that you'd like to know from others that are much like yourself." She paused for a moment, her hand stuttered to leave his shoulder but did eventually as she turned away from him bringing her hand close to her chest. "Might it interest you to learn the true meaning of strength? As redundant as that question is, I ask in hesitation as I'm unsure the truth to the word is meant for the ears of your everyday monster. Yet, I do believe you might not fit the definition." She paced forward a few steps before bringing herself aimed back to his direction. She rose a brow as she finished speaking, curious to know the reaction she would obtain from such words.

A Memory of the Pale (Private) Empty Re: A Memory of the Pale (Private)

The murderous aura faded away as his eyes returned to their normal color, he spoke to her question. "Part of me..thinks it's a journey I must take..that their is no answer..Perhaps it's from killing these people to survive here day in and day out..But I do wish to know..perhaps foolish as it is.." Tsubasa was an enigma he knew answers that few others did, his form stood up as he stood up and pulled off the haori of his clan's leader as he spoke now. "Once we were farmers, once upon a time we mended this land.." Tsubasa said it softly, it was hard to believe to a degree such a power creature had been a farmer. His eyes of crimson looked forward at the body count, this number of dead was not worth it. Tsubasa had thought he would die, he needed to come up with a way to ensure death to go further into his mindset of keeping them alive. His understanding of kido was slight, but someday he would go even further into the form. Control if he could control his blows better, he could go further.

He slipped the haori back over his shoulders, his blonde hair blew in the breeze. "I always dreamed of being a hero..But I am a monster instead, that is the path I have to take..To protect Tsubaki's dreams and the future she wished no matter what comes of it..Just as I have taken dreams from them..here I must bare the burden that others cannot..I'm the monster who will carry the dreams on his back..That is all I can do Captain Unohana Retsu." Tsubasa seemed to of found a resolve from touching the haori he wore of his clan. He didn't know where it would lead him, this path was something only a couple could walk. A monster that would bare the burden of his families dead and living's dreams. This wasn't something he was anticipating to be easy by any means . Tsubasa looked at her, something about her felt comfortable he had been around no one besides Tsubaki who felt so familiar. She had died over three hundred years ago, it wasn't exactly a feeling he'd gotten. Nis was there for him and a friend he trusted.

But Nis never felt familiar, something about the way Unohana composed herself. Something about her touch on his shoulder, while motherly it felt like something else was in their. She was more than she let on and the young Shinigami's instincts were able to pick up on things easily. He saw the healing move she'd been using, he at first did something where he bit his thumb to make it bleed. He than focused replicating her healing move, Tsubasa studied it and figured out how it functioned. Using his energy as a means of healing was a rather intricate task. He understood basic medicine as he got up and walked to the wounded, he began working on the man soon. His hand was covered within a green glow similar to Unohana's, he rested it above the sword wound. Making sure to start small, a few of her division members were struck in silence. He was silently picking things up, Tsubasa learned at such a fast rate.

The power wasn't strange and using his energy this way was different. It required a great deal of control, to not simply explode the person's body due to his energy. Using only the just amount needed and making sure his power was used correctly. He watched as the injury was healed and than stepped back for a moment letting them bandage up the injuries he thought for a moment. Using common herbs wasn't a good answer but doing the medical practice would be helpful. He was a student in an ever changing world, he learned things he saw almost instantly. He'd changed his energy method and used it fairly quickly. His I.Q was well above even some genius levels with how quickly he could understand things. Tsubasa wasn't just a natural talent, a genius, he was a monster using the prowess he had. His sword style was growing from this, he thought about control about the way to do things. The quiet male would continue to heal those in need, Unohana was still in his eyes sight making sure she could see him.

He was listening calmly as he knew whatever it was would only serve to further his knowledge and help him down this path he'd chosen.

Listening to what Tsubasa first had to say she couldn't help but slightly chuckle and once again walk toward him, this time she'd bring herself to both knees beside him and fold her arms in her lap. Her posture held no flaw and her face held a smile that held her teeth behind her lips. She looked at him bending slightly forward, letting the fortitude of her posture loosen up slightly for the moment. She reached her hands to his arms, gripping his biceps firmly, giggling once more before she spoke. "I'd dare to say that seeking the answer to any question is hardly a fool's journey. However, I do believe that you may already know the answer to your question. Yet, you wish to find a different answer, which is also admirable of you. Wisdom isn't obtained in a matter of days, after all. There is much to be toiled before considering yourself to be wise in even one subject, let alone one that not everyone understands entirely..." She spoke in a joyful tone, but one that seemed to be something you'd hear from an overjoyed mother that was unable to be broken in her tone even when she was giving a stern lecture. Loosening her grip from his arms after shaking him slightly ever so often at key points in her speech, she rubbed the area then relinquished her grip from his body. Once again folding her hands in her lap and obtaining the perfect posture that she kept so easily. She was yet to finish speaking, though. "Some say the wise live from the experience of others, while fools learn for themselves. I'd find myself to be a fool time after time if that were true, but I'd find myself wise at times as well. Is there a balance to this? I'm not too sure, but I believe that neither make you wise or foolish. In the end it's what you do with these experiences of others and your own, what you have obtained from them and what you will achieve through them. It may be confusing, but I do believe you have learned from others experiences and from your own. Whether you like it or not." Tsubasa began to stand up as she spoke to him, she continued to speak though. She lowered her head and brought her eyes dim. As she finished speaking she looked up once more to see he had removed the haori he once wore. He spoke once more of how his family once lived a life on the farm.

She rose up from the ground and stayed a few feet behind his presence, her soft tone would still reach his ears and that was all that was needed. There was no longer a need to show a physical display of affection which she soon came to realize after his words. "I always dreamed of being a hero..But I am a monster instead, that is the path I have to take..To protect Tsubaki's dreams and the future she wished no matter what comes of it..Just as I have taken dreams from them..here I must bare the burden that others cannot..I'm the monster who will carry the dreams on his back..That is all I can do Captain Unohana Retsu." His words were slightly concerning to Unohana, it seemed to her that he was just a puppet. Though he chose to still be this way, Unohana was sure that he was aware that his skills could be applied other places for other reasons, but he continued to linger on whatever reasons he couldn't let go of. She curled her hand and placed before her mouth as her eyebrows arced downward showing her concern for the boy through her facial expression.

Lowering her hand from her face and placing it in company with the other, she watched as he began to inflict a small wound to his thumb. Confusing and startling all at once Unohana stood still to see what his next actions were. She watched as he mimicked the same healing technique that Unohana had just used on one of the wounded, while the wound was small his efforts were near perfection. It was remarkable, he had only witnessed what she had done and was able to not only understand it but put it into practice. She then realized that he truly was a monster, and much like herself. While she had no desire to learn different styles or techniques as she grew so keen to the ones she had grown so used to, she still was able to interpret and understand other techniques just through watching them visually. If able, she'd even be able to put the ability to use, though it would never be as well completed as Tsubasa's demonstration.

She walked closer to take a look at the wound attempting to grab his hand, but before she could he had began to walk toward a wounded man on the ground. Once again he was able to astonish Unohana Retsu, one of Soul Society's most renown healers and the captain of the Fourth Division. This ability was one that took years for others to pick up on and was not meant for those that didn't require the spiritual stability to do so. Yet, the boy before her was effectively using the ability on another soul it truly was an amazing sight for herself and those that surrounded them. Once again she walked toward him as he moved away and allowed the others to place bandages on the patient. She grabbed his hand and looked at it vigorously before turning and clearing her throat so that the other division members would move from her path. She looked over the wounds that were once there and it looked just as though how she had done it years ago. The wounds were still visible and would likely scar, but they were definitely healed. She smirked before standing up clearing her face of the weird sense of pride she felt for the man. "Remarkable, to say the least. I've never seen such a fast learner before myself, and it didn't seem to be driven from some other spiritual ability. Well, I'm no expert, but I am quite the interpreter of spiritual auras. That was..." She stopped herself from going on further as she couldn't let herself gawk in the sight of a criminal. She balled her fist and put it before mouth slightly clearing her throat into her hand before turning the other direction and speaking once more. "I don't quite understand you, as hard it is for me to say... You are unsolvable in many aspects, I have been left unable to utter a single word that would describe the kind of person you are or could be." She turned back to him, trying to analyze him further, but it was of no use she'd fail at every turn.

"Strength, some say that it is a physical feature, some a mental feature, some both. Everyone seems to have their own definition and it seems to be that each definition is just someone explaining how they see themselves. You can define it any way you wish, but you'll never truly know what strength is until you find it within yourself. Step forward and make the choices you believe are right, you'll find that the monster you think you are is just a figment of your imagination. One that was created through the thoughts and memories that you let become true. It seems that it is time for you to create your own reality instead of letting the dreams of others define what is you call strength."

A Memory of the Pale (Private) Empty Re: A Memory of the Pale (Private)

His orbs of crimson held the female, taking in everything like a newborn understanding. He nodded listening as she explained, so that was the answer. The answer to the question plaguing his soul, strength was something nobody could define. But she'd given him perhaps the best answer he could ever hope to obtain. "I see." He said now, letting his crimson eyes fall on her before he looked forward. His path was clear, blood would be shed people would die. He needed to do everything he could, this battle would mark a new beginning. Knowledge was power, he looked around as he knew he had talent in something. Tsubasa wasn't untalented and he knew it, he wasn't arrogant about it though. He embraced the idea of something new to learn everyday. This was simply the process of it all, the way the cookie would crumble. His world may of shattered into a million pieces once, but picking them up was his job. His hand raised the sheathed sword to his view, first he and his Zanpakutō would need to grow.

They needed to grow, death had to become a certainty not a maybe. Tsubasa had to accept when he drew this sword people died, the hero had to rest so the truth may be seen. No matter what happened someone lost and even though the winner wasn't always the last one standing. Nor was it often times the hero, Tsubasa knew somethings that people didn't. He was quiet now, thinking as the woman had said previously he couldn't really be solved. Many people had tried to understand him, he was a monster in his own rights. But this wasn't the end of the day he looked around at them. Observing Unohana now, as he listened to her he had a couple more things to handle. He needed to wrap up healing the people here that way he could go, he swore silently next time none would walk away. His skill was sloppy and they suffered needlessly. He knew trouble would come from it, they would unleash their dogs and he would kill them. This was the way the Zeraki District simply functioned.

Unohana perhaps knew it better than most, he walked over gently laying his hands above a wounded. Helping the Fourth Division, the man who'd earned a reputation here this day that would be cementing forever. His hand turned green as he exercised his healing power he just learned, but something was clear he was getting better. Each time he healed someone he got better, it was though he was learning faster than anyone could. His learning and understanding were extremely fast. Tsubasa seemed to pick things up naturally and just get better and better at using them. With the power to heal getting stronger, his rather limited methods were slowly becoming effective. He would not simply stay a one trick pony, he began pondering what would come next. Unohana had answered his questions, he knew that it was almost time for him to leave behind this place. To leave it forever in his memory, his memory of the place where the Pale Rider was born. The birth of the Pale would be a memory that wouldn't leave him soon.

Tsubasa looked on as he thought about many things, once a future was his to grasp. Once upon a time the dream to become a Captain like her was there, he spoke now softly to Unohana. "It's remarkable, how painful it is to chose between the selfish choice and the right choice." He wouldn't really elaborate on it, as that was simply the fact. He decided to protect his kin over following his life long dream. To become a Captain of the Gotei, as a child he admired Yamamoto greatly for his steady control but somethings weren't clear. He tried to modal himself after that man, but Tsubasa had begun to realize that wasn't possible. He had to be himself, someone that nobody else could be. His eyes stared outward towards the very unstable world ahead of him, he could only walk this edge of the knife. If he fell it would be the end and if he faltered it would mean death of those he loved. Perhaps, perhaps it was time to put it all away. To become the beast that Unohana herself hid.

This wasn't something he decided lightly, but the time for talk between these two had tragically come to a close. Tsubasa finished healing the last two, his level for it having risen drastically after putting it to practice. This was a simply matter of him, being good at what he did. Tsubasa was a man whom learned everything from the simple facts of being as powerful as he was. Tsubasa wasn't the type to really deal with things such as this. His eyes changed directions now, he could feel the changes of the world around him. This place would be a different place soon, he looked at Unohana. They both knew this would mark the end of their talk, if she still planned to arrest him that was up to her. It wouldn't do much good as he seemed to be but a young Shinigami trying to understand why fate was such a cruel thing. He simply stared into her eyes as he spoke. Thank you, I shall remember the Pale.."He said the last words before Tsubasa walked away using a couple shunpo to leave, he wouldn't see her again.

Not for many years, but he would think of Unohana often in the time to come. Her words would drive him, help him find comfort to push back those tears. To hide that child inside that just wanted to scream at the carnage, he knew he couldn't stay with her. Though some part of him felt attached too her, he didn't really have much else on his mind. He looked forward smiling perhaps the last time he would do that for centuries. Nis would be so angry with him, he could tell that off the bat. He'd killed several people, but that's all the Unabara would ever know. He'd not reveal to any of them, that Unohana had come to him. That she had been there, he found her to be an intelligent and attractive woman, but looked at her as a mother. She was someone who unlike his own maybe saw him for something else, perhaps Unohana despite not understanding him. Perhaps she found something about him that nobody else had, that Tsubasa had a future one neither one could see.
