Toshizo Hijikata~The Demon Commander~0-3+
A Quick Beginning (Hijikata and Yoruichi) O5p3s3

"It shouldn't be this hard to find one person." All in all it was just another normal day in the city of Karakura; though for one individual there was a slight problem. Then again, seeing as a Captain of the Gotei 13 was wandering around the world of the living, chances were most who could see him would assume that something was amiss. Of course, for this Captain, the man known as Hijikata Toshizo, what brought him here today was nothing too dire... or, well, anything official at all. Thankfully, at least in his mind, as he wandered around the city there didn't seem to be too many others out this day; though that could have to do with the fact that he wasn't necessarily traveling down the most used paths. It wasn't as if he were wandering around any dark or seedy back alleys, but for what he was looking for; he probably wouldn't be finding it out in the middle of town... at least not from what he had heard. Then again, seeing how this "thing" he was looking for wasn't actually a thing but a person, this lack of people could be a bit disconcerting; but at the very least he didn’t have to stop and explain to every passerby that there was no need to be alarmed at a Captain patrolling the city.

As for whom exactly it was that Hijikata was looking for... well, that was a bit of an interesting story. For starters, the individual in question was the woman known as Yoruichi Shihouin, but the reason why he was looking for was what made it interesting. As stated earlier, this search was not for any official business of the Gotei 13 or his Squad 3, but instead was for more of a personal matter, however, that's where things got a little more complicated. While Yoruichi had been a former Captain of Squad 2, and he had met her in passing once or twice while she was with the Gotei, it couldn't really be said that they actually knew each other; and really he doubted if she would even recognize him. However, if they didn't actually know each other, then that begged the question; why was Hijikata looking for her for a personal matter? And really, that could best be described by Yoruichi's title: The Flash Goddess. Well, that, and a little story.

Being a natural born warrior, as well as a Captain, Hijikata was always looking to improve his fighting skills; in particular the sword style he had created: Shinsengumi-Kenjutsu. All in all it was a rather effective style of fighting; combining powerful weapon strikes as well as hand-to-hand techniques to quickly overwhelm opponents and take on forces much larger than one's own. However, as it had been born from a number of different styles, as well as included many different types of weapons, the style was constantly evolving as Hijkata himself got better. Because of this, Hijikata was always finding areas of his techniques that he wanted to improve upon, and this brings us to why he was searching for Yoruichi today. With all that seemed to be happening in the world, Hijikata had taken it upon himself recently to work on refining the Shinsengumi-Kenjutsu style; finding its faults and working to cover them. Through this, he had come to notice one possible flaw n his style, though in reality t could simply be more with himself; that being that it was a little on the slow side. Now, this was not to say that Hijikata himself was a slow individual, as overall his speed ranked fairly well, but for a style designed to take on imposing odds, speed was kind of a necessity. Realizing this, Hijikata knew that he would have to train against someone who far outclassed him when it came to speed, and there was only one person he could think of; The Flash Goddess.

Of course, as Hijikata continued to wander around Karakura in search of Yoruichi, he began to wonder whether the information he had gotten was reliable. Seeing as he didn't know her as well as he would have wished to ask about training, he was forced to ask others where he might find the Goddess of Flash. While she was not quite as hard to find as when she had been an exile, there still wasn't really an exact address for him to check out aside from Urahara's store, and in all honesty he wasn't really in the mood to go asking the man where she might have been. He didn't have anything against him, but, well... there was always more than met the eye to that guy. Still, from what he had gathered, it did seem that Yoruichi was in the world of the living; and indeed once he had first arrived he had managed to find her spiritual pressure, but once he had gotten to that location she was nowhere to be found. It was actually a little ironic; normally Hijikata was having to evade women who wanted to fawn over his looks, but today he was having trouble finding just one woman... well, it wasn't a great comparison but still a touch ironic. "Granted... given what I've heard about her, chances are she already knows I'm looking for her" he said to himself, stopping for a moment to observe his surroundings.

A Quick Beginning

Eh uh... Fun factoid: Cats could sleep as much as twenty hours out of a twenty-four hour day time period. The key word here was 'could', for there was no getting around the fact that Yoruichi couldn't find a comfortable spot to lie down for more than thirty minutes. Karakura used to be a lot calmer of a town, but then science arrived and the entire place was turned on its head. It was just far too busy and bustling—leaving no solemn haven untarnished by activity. As much as the violet-haired cat lady desired her beauty sleep, this city was obviously not going to let her have it. Generally the plan was to camp out inside the old wayward hut owned by her eccentric childhood friend, where not that many traveled because Kisuke apparently didn't get the memo when it was time to upgrade to the next generation. Back to the main point though, she had her place; it just wasn't available today. On the occasion the mad man locked the place up for one or two dangerous experiments that usually tended to make the entire building inhospitable. Yoruichi remembered the last time she dismissed Urahara's warnings to take a walk into the city, and she had her fur singed off. She was too ashamed to change forms over the next week until it finally grew back to cover the sickly pink skin that was revealed.

So out she went, woken from the middle of sleep and now attempting to find some godforsaken hole in the city that didn't have screaming children running around or cars flying through the air at speeds of a hundred miles per hour. At this point it was too late to salvage anything; she was already pretty wide awake and only trying to find a good resting spot out of merit. She'd find some ledge, roof, any flat surface and attempt several different sleeping positions. Close her eyes and just hold them shut for a couple minutes until some obnoxious sound broke her out of her state of tranquility. All this lying around transformed her once silky smooth black coat of fur into a series of dirt-stained and greasy clumps. Her eyes were ringed with red, slightly taking away from the energetic vibe that was usually communicated through her amber hues. Exhausted and yet unable to find sleep, Yoruichi continued for the majority of the day in the epic quest for a suitable resting spot, to no avail. Her most recent endeavor involved a slanted shingle roof of a slummy liquor shop not so much more sightly than Urahara's dump. There were people inside, but they weren't making much noise, and there weren't many people wandering the adjacent street either. As an added benefit, the sun struck straight onto her sprawled out body, bringing a soothing warmth to her as lied on her back, paws in the air. Still, she expected something to come along and ruin it, and she wasn't disappointed in that respect.

Like a clumsy giant waddling through a village of tiny people, a Captain class signature of spiritual energy approached. Yoruichi's paw twitched in frustration, at this instance of time wishing the skills she'd learned in the past away, just so that she couldn't detect the vast presence. The worst bit was the fact that whatever presence this was, however seemingly aimless his path seemed, was inching its way ever closer to her location. She furrowed her brow and concentrated hard, masking her own presence until not even someone like Soifon would be able to catch a whiff of her. Oh so vigorously did she conceal herself, but to no avail. She let out a cat-sigh and resigned herself to the fate, too lazy to move, just waiting. She didn't have to open her eyes to tell when he was within earshot, she could sense the aura of energy he was putting off like a siren in her ear. She rolled back onto her stomach, allowing her front paws to fall over the edge of the roof, and finally opened her irritated eyes. She was met with the sight of a Shinigami who was not even attempting to be discreet. He practically flaunted his flowing white Captain robes, Zanpakutō on display at his side, right in the middle of the road. She watched him for a while as he strolled around like a clueless child, head turning from left to right and obviously looking for something. Then came the quiet note he made under her breath, that gave Yoruichi the urge to push her face into her palm, had it not been for the feline form she was using. "Oh yeah," she called out to him from her perch on the roof in her deep, hoarse masculine voice. The cynical jesting could already be heard from the greeting alone. "Because I really had to try hard for that one."

A Quick Beginning (Hijikata and Yoruichi) O5p3s3

A talking cat... well, that sure was out of the ordinary. Actually, given everything that existed in the spiritual world a talking cat kinda fit in an odd way. Hell, there had even been an anthropomorphic captain back in the day, so this really wasn't the biggest shock that there could have been. Of course, while the cat part of the equation didn't surprise Hijikata too much, well... seeing as he hadn't been expecting to find Yoruichi like this, along with the fact that he hadn't even noticed her, the sudden sound of her voice did manage to catch him slightly off guard. Sure, he did know that Yoruichi was capable of changing into the form of a cat; hell, most people who knew about her knew that already. Still... that voice was kinda misleading, and seeing as he had never actually met her in this form it did surprise Hijikata a bit. However, while it may have caught him off guard, Hijikata didn't actually show any outward signs of this; though it did take him a moment or two to get used to the idea of talking to a cat.

As the cat, er, Yoruichi spoke to him; the amount of cynical sarcasm in her tone was almost palpable. True, he hadn't actually done much if anything to hid his presence, save for lowering his spiritual pressure slightly so as not to harm anyone, but still, that hadn't quite been what he had meant by his words. Besides, when you were actually looking for someone and didn't intend to be hostile, why would you bother trying to hide your presence? Of course, while his natural instinct would have been to meet her sarcasm with his own witty... or angry retort; as he got a good look at the woman in her feline form, along with the tone of her voice, it was rather obvious that she probably wasn't in the best of moods. "Well, seeing as I'm not looking to assassinate you I really saw no need in trying to hide my presence; that would only make finding you all the more difficult" he replied; and though his words may have seemed a small bit snarky, his tone did not carry such an inflection. Seeing as he was here to ask for her help, there wasn't much sense in pissing her off, so he was trying his best to sound genuine. Granted, it wasn't that difficult; he was genuinely here to ask for her help, and he would much prefer to start things off on a good foot.

"Anyways, I do apologize if I am interrupting anything to... important, but if you'd hear me out, I have a favor that I wish to ask of you" Hijikata spoke, getting around to just why he had come here looking for her. Looking at Yoruichi in her cat form as he spoke, Hijikata did still feel a little "silly" for talking to a cat; though there wasn't much he could do about that as it were. "Well, not so much a favor, but I would like to ask for your help with something" he began to continue, before pausing for a moment, and then letting out a small chuckle. "Of course, it does seem a little rude to try and ask you for help without even an introduction, so allow me to remedy that; my name is Toshizo Hijikata" he introduced himself, bowing slightly afterwords to show respect. While he had at least come across her before once or twice in the Seireitei, he doubted that she would even know or remember who he was, let alone his name. Then again, it was actually a little refreshing to have to introduce himself to a woman, as normally they already knew quite well who he was... though once again that wasn't really much of an accurate comparison to this current situation. Standing back up straight, his gaze returned to feline fatale before continuing his request. "That aside, if you would be willing, I wish to train with you Shihouin Yoruichi... or more accurately, I need your help to refine my style" he finished, before awaiting her response.

A Quick Beginning

Half-lidded eyes; they insinuated an extreme volume of boredom within the cat, as the Captain—Gotei's finest—began to clarify himself. She blinked slowly at intermittently points of his explanation, further displaying the lack of interest as clear as still water. She had already assumed that he was looking for her, so she was simply waiting for him to get to the part where he actually explained why he was looking for her. The problem with that is that he wasn't arriving to that destination swiftly enough. He was more along the process of telling her that he had a favor to ask; no, nevermind that, just outright help. But before he asked for whatever it was he needed he had to introduce himself to her as if she hadn't met the fool already, and that was the point Yoruichi unleashed an obnoxiously loud growl that caused some of the passerbys to even glance her way in surprise. Ignoring the extra attention, the cat meant to cut him off with the noise before returning to a suitable volume to pick at him with. "I know who you are, you dork. You're the blockhead who couldn't even handle a good few Hollows by himself even with my professional support. You don't need to explain to me who you are, just tell me why you came all the way out here to bug me!" After getting all of that off her back, she released the pent up breath she didn't realize she was holding in her chest. Her eyes closed in frustration and she loosened her body up, trying to find an inner zen to relax. That miniature explosion there had put an unwarranted amount of stress on her for some reason, and she realized that at this point she was probably the grumpiest cat on the planet right now. She hadn't known just how much this abhorrent excuse for a morning really affected her... she needed her beauty sleep.

Given after that, the man would probably give his reason for being here finally, and Yoruichi would open her irritated, sleepless eyes to bore through him again. Train? He wanted to train with her? That was the big intention for disturbing her? Suddenly, calm was replaced by another flare of indignation struck the lady cat and caused her body to tense right up again. Her claws punctured straight into the solid metal wall of the building as they curled around the ledge of the roof, creating eight petite holes lined up next to each other. She was frozen like this for quite a while, trying exceptionally hard not to jump straight onto his face and claw his eyes out of his big fat dumb skull. Willpower, Yoruichi, willpower, she reiterated this chant in her mind manifold, just barely overcoming the urge after a while. It was quite a show for the Captain no doubt, for him to witness the aura of spiritual pressure that was seething out of her like the flicker of a flame—it would flare up for some time, before simmering down afterwards, back and forth as her frustrations wavered. Finally, just finally, Yoruichi managed to open her eyes calmly and release her talons from the face of the wall. "Here's the deal," she stated staunchly. "I'll help you train your style, but only under one condition." She raised her paw and made her best attempt to show one finger pointed up; her expression practically dared him to laugh at her right now.

"After I finish with the training, you'll have two weeks to fulfill my request. You must manage to take at least one single picture of Soifon while she's naked. If you do not do this, I will scratch you so hard that you'll have a massive scar on your body for the rest of your life." Her last sentence was just outright menacing in nature. Though, she would finish by moving her uplifted paw and licking it with her tongue as if to clean it.

Toshizo Hijikata~The Demon Commander~0-3+
A Quick Beginning (Hijikata and Yoruichi) O5p3s3

...Well now, it sure seemed like Hijikata had made a good move in deciding to try his best to be polite and respectful given Yoruichi's response. Just as he had speculated, it seemed quite clear that the feline was in a rather sour mood... though for all he knew maybe she just really didn't like him. Had she not been in her feline form, such a rude reception might have hurt his ego; however the fact that he was talking to a cat helped create a level of disconnect that kept him from actually taking the foul mood personally. Hell, most cats usually seemed to be in a foul mood, or were easily provoked to one, so in all honesty... it almost felt kinda normal. Of course, as soon as he had finished introducing himself, judging by Yoruichi's response... well, maybe the "slow and respectful" route wasn't best after all. "Hey, I-... I mean, I'm not here to argue about that, though I suppose I am glad to see that you remember me" He replied; quickly deciding against getting defensive to her insults... though only after he had opened his mouth. Still, it did make things a bit easier now that he knew she actually remembered him... though he did wish that she hadn't brought back that memory. He still stood by the fact that she had distracted him in that fight, and in all honesty he was much more proficient at fighting opponents of his own size, but there was nothing to gain from bringing back old arguments.

As he continued his request, Hijikata was well aware of the dramatic rise in Yoruichi's spiritual pressure; though given how hard it had been to find her there was no point in turning back now, even if she was getting angry. Of course, he still wasn't trying to make her angry, but by now it kinda seemed like that would be her reaction no matter what he said. While the spike in energy itself wasn't too much of a concern for Hijikata, the actual intent behind it did cause him to pause for thought; as it could be a very clear indication that she would deny his request. Then again, when he said that he needed her help training, in reality what he needed was for her to fight against him with her speed, so even should she deny his request... well, let's just say that there were still ways for him to get what he wanted. However, seeing as he really didn't want to have Yoruichi actually trying to kill him, it was best to stay away from such final resorts. Luckily for him, however, it seemed that Yoruichi was actually willing to comply to his request... though the added "under one condition" definitely worried him. Knowing her, there was a very good chance that this condition would be something unpleasant; but at the very least Hijikata did have to hear it out before deciding whether or not it was worth it.

"...You what now?" was all Hijikata could manage to say initially in response to Yoruichi's stipulation. Oh, he had heard quite clearly what she wanted him to do, he just didn't believe it. Well, actually, he did kinda believe it, as such a request really wasn't that odd for such a woman; but that didn't make it any more plausible. Hell, Soifon been on the short list of people whom he had considered asking for help with this, but he had decided against that route seeing as Soifon was more likely to just try and kill him than even listen to his request. "...You do realize that trying to get such a picture has far worse consequences than permanent scars from you, right?" he said, slightly over the initial shock as he spoke in a dry tone. Of course, having said that... well, there really weren't any other people he could turn to for the help he needed; as the aforementioned short list really only had 2 names on it. Placing his left hand against his forehead for a moment, Hijikata let out an audible sigh as he contemplated what to do; going over his rather crap options. "Is there nothing else that would serve as adequate compensation and wouldn't result in a rather unpleasant death?" he asked, now looking back up at the feline, a hint of irritation in his tone. Of course, as this conversation kept going, it only drove home just how different Yoruichi was from the other women he was used to dealing with. Well, so was Soifon, but that was a much different case; she just seemed to hate men... and anyone else who wasn't Yoruichi. Still, if t wasn't for the fact that she seemed able to get under his skin without even trying, he might have actually been interested in her; though as it stood he was quickly getting too agitated to even think about anything like that. Still, if there was absolutely no other way, then he guessed that he'd have to comply... and most likely deal with some rather unpleasant injuries from Yoruichi in about two weeks time.

A Quick Beginning

The dusky cat was cursory in its motion, arrogant in nature, rising from her slump with a yawn. It was rude, almost interrupting his desperate pleas for another stipulation; but once Yoruichi saw his dejection it, it only reinforced her desire to impose it upon him. It was clear as crystal as she stood so pompously, that there would be no changing her mind from this point. She waited patiently for him to finish imploring for her to let up, slow blinking throughout the entire time. Then, she finally let the bomb drop straight on his head without any remorse, smiling as devilishly as a cat could with her different facial muscles. "There will be no alternative. You either get me that picture, or..." She made her point here with her protruding claws, piercing the shingles of the roof she was sitting upon and dragging the sharp nails back across it with relative ease. It was like the screeching of a chalkboard, a high-pitched sound tearing at the ears, not yet causing pain but definitely inducing irritation. When she finally retracted her claws, the poor shingle that Yoruichi had demonstrated her punishment on slid slowly out of place, before finally falling over the edge in pieces. It littered the ground in several shards and a small volume of dust, which was quickly blown into the alley by the shallow wind. If that message hadn't been sent to the silly Captain, then Yoruichi did not know what would pierce that thick skull of his. "Of course, you may be right. Soifon might be more threatening..."

The cat began licking her paw again, pondering suddenly as her amber hues angled up towards the mid-morning sky. If Hijikata really knew what kind of person Yoruichi was, then he should have known just how poorly her consideration of the subject would go for him; he should have known that she was about to make matters worse. "Actually, your logic is undeniable," she finally stated, replacing her paw on the flat roofing that had been revealed by the absent shingle, looking down on her victim. "Rather, perhaps my scratch should go deep enough to confine you to your bed for a month... or maybe I should sever a limb. Oh, it could be a death threat, too. That would certainly be enough incentive for you would it not?" For a second it looked like Yoruichi was already in the process of thinking up more abhorrent consequences for his failure should he refuse to even attempt to snag a snapshot of the prized jewel. But then Yoruichi's serious demeanor would break and she would explode into laughter, most likely from the way Hijikata's face would change when he heard her new punishments. It would be a delightful thing to witness. To add on even further to the terror, she'd whip out a claw again and give him a menacing look. "Don't think I'm kidding. If you really cannot get me my picture, then I really hope you like tattoos."

A Quick Beginning (Hijikata and Yoruichi) O5p3s3

Well, this was going nowhere fast apparently. Actually, that wasn't quite true; it definitely going somewhere, just not where Hijikata had wanted... at all. Sure, he had expected for there to be some difficulty involved in his request; not just in finding Yoruichi, but also in getting her to agree, but he had not planned on it being this absurd. Hell, at this point it almost seemed like trying to get Soifon to help him would be a better idea... actually no, that was still more suicidal; but not as much as trying to get a nude picture of her. Still, it seemed quite clear by now that Yoruichi was not going to have any alternative; if anything his rebuttal had only made things worse for him. Then again, given how their first encounter had gone he really should have expected as much, especially given how much she seemed to enjoy pissing him off. However, even with all of that said, he did still need her help, and he was still more frightened of Soifon than her, so unless he wanted to have wasted his whole day with this task, he was gonna have to think up something fast; and he was not going to have wasted his day. Of course, there was one alternative Hijikata had left, though he had hoped he wouldn't have to fall back on it. While he did need her help in his current endeavor... he had never intended for her to teach him anything. What he really needed was someone of far superior speed to fight against not just to refine his sword style against speed, but to also work on his own speed; and while he did need to fight against Yoruichi to accomplish this... well, it didn't need to be consensual.

As Yoruichi finished speaking, one of her claws extended to add a menacing air, Hijikata simply turned his head down, a small chuckle emanating from his lips. Slowly, he raised his head back up, gaze returning to the feline, and upon his face he wore a rather dark grin. "You know... threatening a Captain is really not a wise move; though I shouldn't have to tell you that" he said, his tone... while not as serious, held a much darker tone than it had before. Though he had not wanted to resort to such methods, given the situation Hijikata really saw no other alternative; besides, perhaps if she wanted to kill hm he would get so much more out of this "training". "In fact, if I didn't know any better, I'd say that such a blatant threat could be seen as an open act of hostility the Gotei 13; regardless of any past affiliations" he began, his tone still holding that dark tone. "I mean, normally such comments might simply be ignored, but given your background, and your past transgressions against the Gotei 13... well I don't know how else I could take such threats but seriously" he added, a dark glint to his eyes. "And so, given all of this information, I really have no choice but to apprehend you and bring you back to the Seireitei for questioning... ignoring that any resistance on your part would simply fulfill my original goal" he finished, crossing his arms in such a way that his right hand rested just above the hilt of his Zanpakutō. Sure, this was a risky maneuver, and Hijikata did run the risk of Yoruichi absolutely hating him and wanting to kill him... but there was at least one up side. Yes, at the very least, this play would hopefully show Yoruichi that he wasn't just gonna roll over and let her mess with him. Besides, even if she did want to kill him... well, it definitely would make for one hell of a fight; one that Hijikata would most thoroughly enjoy. "So then... are you sure that I didn't misunderstand your response kitten?" he asked; leaving the course of events to come hanging on her answer.

A Quick Beginning

It was like the mere sound of his voice had some kind of mystical effect on her—the moment he began speaking, Yoruichi felt an overwhelming sense of irritation, and boredom. Her eyelids began to droop halfway down, indicating just how little she cared for his words at this point in time. Honestly, was it really this hard for him to be a little humbled and just accept the deal before he caused anymore damage? She should have known better, having to deal with so many before this guy who acted in the exact same way—names withheld—but they can't say she didn't start with a little bit of faith. She waited... and waited for him to get his semi-veiled threat out of the way. He was actually trying to strike fear into her on the basis of feeling threatened by her kitty claws, as if he was really going to go up to the Gotei's chain of command to report her so-called 'act of hostility'. And rather than assuming that he would perhaps have his rank of Captaincy reconsidered due to the nature of this situation, he believed that they would spend any resources whatsoever on detaining her and interrogating her. Either his threat was the largest bluff Yoruichi had ever seen, or the Gotei had fallen so far that the entire ordeal was laughable. Ever since old man Yamamoto had become deceased, she hadn't been fearful of the Gotei's power, and she had witnessed just how messy and unguided the organization was recently before she had left her post as Captain. If there was one thing she knew, it was that not this man before her, nor all of the forces of the Gotei Thirteen would be able to catch her... not even Soifon. So when Hijitaka chose to act like a tough guy and try to lay down the law here, in a run-down backwater alleyway within Karakura, the appropriate response would be to burst into laughter again.

Yoruichi sighed instead, looking intently into the violet hues of the Captain. "Hun, you don't seem to understand how this works, because apparently you have no sense of humor and don't respond to it well. That's fine, I'll work with it. Let's start with me explaining to you how this is supposed to play out." She paused, taking a breathe and maintaining an aura of calm. She pointed her index claw at him as she continued. "You don't get to threaten me; you can't, because it doesn't work. All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't catch me if they tried, provided they even lift a finger to help you when you come crying to them about being threatened by this little kitten. That aside! You came crawling to me about this dilemma of yours, so you have to play by my rules. And rule number one is you suck up your goddamned pride and live with my terms, because they aren't getting any better. I saw how weak you were last time we met, so I know it ain't gonna be easy... Plus I'm lazy. So I have to make it worth it for me somehow." Merely milliseconds after she finished her speech, the ebon cat vanished from her place on the roof, causing a small puff of dust to kick up from the top of the shingles from the shock of the sudden movement. She'd appear instantly inches in front of Hijitaka, glaring straight at him with her amber eyes. No, she didn't fall, as she in fact happened to be floating in mid-air, maintaining her elevation to keep their eyes locked. "Got it?" she inquired curtly, surprisingly louder now with the closer proximity.

If the answer was yes, then praise the heavens, Yoruichi would be pleased with herself. She would drop to the ground upon her paws with a dull thud, not stumbling even slightly in her graceful landing. "Good," she'd say before looking up at him in his ostentatious outfit. "You have like four layers of clothing, give me one, now." If he didn't quite understand at first, then the sudden eruption of dull smoke in his face would make him realize shortly. A dark-skinned human hand reached out through the smoke expectantly, waiting for some form of fabric to be deposited into her grasp before the veil faded. Best case scenario for him here would be that he rushed to get his Haori off his back and give it over without hesitation. It wouldn't take long for the smoke to begin clearing, revealing Yoruichi's face first. Had the expression she possessed not been so hardened, the new change of form would have been far more preferable. God help him if he did not manage to fulfill her first training request before the smoke dissipated below her chest.

If the answer was no... he'd soon feel the experience of being clawed on the cheek.

While Hijikata had not been naïve enough to think that his "threats" would actually scare Yoruichi... well, at the very least he had expected some kind of response to them. Hell, had she simply burst out laughing he wouldn't have been that surprised; but to simply not show any reaction had not been the most likely scenario in his head. Well, there was a bit of a reaction to be fair, the feline did sigh and there was an obvious hint of irritation to her appearance... then again most cats seemed to have "irritation" set as their default expression, so it was hard to tell. Either way, seeing as there was no actual sign of an aggressive response from Yoruich, Hijikata wasn't quite sure how to continue. Sure, he had been prepared for her to get angry at him and possibly even attack, but it was now quite obvious that wouldn't be happening. Thankfully, at least in terms of breaking the awkward tension, Yoruichi made the next move addressing his thinly veiled threat. As she spoke, not only did Hijikata obviously listen, but he also relaxed his posture; his arms moving back to his sides and away from the hilt of his Zanpakutō. Of course, as she finished her little speech it became quite clear to him not only why his earlier threat had not worked in the slightest, but also why she was getting agitated with him. Actually, that last one he had kinda been able to figure out on his own, but the clarification on just why his actions had annoyed her did help out quite a bit.

While Hijikata's first thought had been to clarify that his "threat" hadn't been about going back to the Gotei 13 and telling on her like a child but more to just get her to fight him, he wisely decided against that course of action. Not only would that serve no purpose now that everything was rather clear, but, well... it would have been completely childish and would only show that he hadn't paid Yoruichi's words any thought and was still acting upon pride. Of course, even if he had wanted to respond as such, Yoruichi's quick movements after her speech really left him no time to respond to her; as soon the feline was... floating at eye level with him. Yeah, as if the talking cat part had not been enough, once the levitation was added into the mix, it really did become a rather bizarre encounter. Still, the situation was still serious enough, and after letting out a soft sigh, he bowed slightly to the floating feline. "Yes, I understand" he replied clearly before standing back up and watching as the feline landed gracefully on its paws. To be honest, Hijikata really didn't have a problem with laying aside his pride in this moment, as Yoruichi had been completely correct; he had come here seeking out her help to train. Hell, if the request hadn't been something as completely outlandish he probably would have accepted her terms without a fuss. Then again, when looking at this situation from any perspective than Hijikata's own, it was quite humorous just how much Yoruichi had been able to affect him, both now and in their previous encounter, with only a few words. Given his typical interactions with women, it actually became even more hilarious; though being the punch line to the joke it was unlikely that he would ever fully appreciate it.

As the still Feline Yoruichi asked for some of his clothes, Hijikata was initially confused. Thankfully this confusion did not last long, for as soon as the smoke erupted around her feline form it was quite clear why she was asking. Well, he didn't actually know that the transformation back to her human form would leave Yoruichi with a lack of clothing, but at least now it made sense that she was asking for a garment of clothing to wear. Not wasting any time, though mainly in an attempt to show that he was indeed more than willing to listen to her, Hijikata removed his light blue haori in one fluid motion before placing it in the hand outstretched from the cloud of smoke. "Not to be prideful again, but... well, I've never quite seen a situation where humility and suicide were so closely related in my defense" he spoke, this time in a much more jovial tone as he waited for the smoke to fully clear. This was not an attempt to have the last word so to say, as he was quite sure Yoruichi would have more to say, but more to try and help lighten the mood... and to prove that he did at least have some sense of humor. Of course, while Hijikata wasn't quite sure how Yoruichi was going to react once she was in her human form, he at least thought that it would be better to try and restart things on a better foot.

A Quick Beginning

Well, well, Hijikata's life would be spared this day by the gracious Yoruichi Shihouin, as he managed to provide cover for the woman's lady parts. He was swift with the handover, and from what she could see was not trying to peer through the smoke like a pervert. Albeit, he was flustered the tiniest bit, which made her wonder if he was actually averse to seeing her body au naturel; a mischievous note for her to jot down in her mind for later use. For now though, the cloud of mist was fading and quickly revealing her dark chocolate skin. She was granted an article of clothing and now it was time to put it to use. The problem here was that Hijikata had come for speed training, so she couldn't really imagine herself moving fast in...this. The sky blue Haori of his was long and flowing, easily able to caress the ground had she worn it normally, and not even remotely aerodynamic. Luckily there was an easy fix to that, and Yoruichi did not hesitate to apply it. Both of her hands grasped firmly onto one edge of the soft fabric and pulled it mercilessly apart, creating a loud ripping sound as the robe was divided in two. She repeated this process another time, so quick that its owner would hardly even have time to create a facial expression to react to the now shredded Haori. Some part of her dared the man to so much as grumble over its state, just so she could lash out at him as she was so anxious to do. But first thing was first, something needed to cover her up, because the smoke was no longer accomplishing that task.

After a moment or two of wrapping the light blue patches around her and tying it soundly against her form, Yoruichi would be cordially covered: One long strip was wrapped horizontally across her chest, no lower nor higher than the breast as it tied up into a neat knot at the back. It left a minuscule view of the uppermost line of her cleavage to see, and an unhindered view of her smooth stomach where the slightest outline of abdominal muscles could be seen. Yoruichi had to use several pieces to cover up the area of her groin—One wrapped around her waist like a skirt that hardly made it a quarter the of way down her long legs, and a pair of them each tied around the length of her thighs. Awkwardly, this protected her privates from scrutiny from every angle except for one directly underneath her, and she could feel the slight breeze between her legs telling her so. Thankfully the opening view was incredibly small, and there was not going to be a situation that Yoruichi would allow for Hijikata to peek underneath. Finally, a couple small strips would be tied into the woman's bedridden violet hair as she collected a good majority of it into a compact bun at the back of her head. Only a couple short wayward locks would be left out to hang down behind her ears to nip at her shoulders or back. The rest of the frayed clothing would be discarded upon the dirty pavement of the alleyway, which would only slow her down if she tried to make use of it.

"You're a Captain, Toshizo Hijikata. Act like one," she commanded, her tone staunch as she adapted the mentor's state of mind.. Now this was a pair of shoes she hadn't worn in a long time, and yet she stepped back into them with ease to find that they fit perfectly. It may have been strange to Toshizo, who had only ever seen Yoruichi's lighthearted nature before to suddenly feel a change in the aura about her; authoritative. She would stretch her arms back and swing them around to work out the various kinks she had developed from being lazy for too long, crane her neck back and shake her legs out. Yoruichi, a former Captain herself, knew more or less why she had been chosen by this man to assist him, and generally the only reason anyone ever did venture outside of the comforts of Seireitei to seek out training from her. She was the fastest person alive, and no one could take that title away from her; that's why she was still even relevant to the people up there. "Now, don't tell me what it is you want to train. Show me." And with those words the woman's stance dropped low with bent legs, arms held up in front of her in preparation for the first strike. Her muscles quivered with strength, tensed with potential speed. The look that developed in her eyes was terrifying in a way of its own, intimidating. Hijikata could tell with one look and be sure that this training was going to be rock hard.
