Part One: The Facts Within the Myth
____________________________________________________

☥Name: Alaricus, Samael. Alaricus, his surname, comes from the Latinized form of Visigothic Alaric, meaning "all-powerful; ruler of all." His first name, Samael, is the name of an archangel, a fallen angel, the Angel of Death or Poison, the accuser, seducer, and destroyer famously known as The Grim Reaper, a spirit that Samael deeply admires and aspires to be more like. This could attribute to his abominable kill count. His nickname and calling card, "Anax", is the Latin for "(tribal) king, lord, (military) leader". This is the only name he typically goes by, and he will demand to be called this on a regular basis. It makes him feel the sense of superiority and self-righteous justification that one would expect from the kind of man whom refers to himself as a God.

☥Titles: Over the centuries, Samael has gone by many names. The most prominently known in history, however, was his time in Greece, where he spun false tales of valor and amusement to create the legends they live by. Samael integrated himself into these legends, calling himself "Hades", or the God of the Underworld, as he had been born in a place of hell, fire, and brimstone, a place that he would describe to many in his years of storytelling. A place that would become the center of evil in many religions and myth. The god that the mortals know as "Hades" is actually Samael, a god by birth. The legends about Hades, however, are mostly untrue. He began going by his true name again sometime around 9 B.C.E

☥Age: No one can, or ever will, know how old Samael truly is. Some say he is as old as time itself, others say they have seen him as a child in the later times of both the Dark Ages and the French Revolution. Reports of sightings have dotted the centuries, stretching all the way back to before the roman empire, when some noted that he claimed to be a god, walking the world of mortals simply because it amuses him, spinning stories and legends of other gods that captivated the men of that era. However, he has to be even older than that, as modern-day spelunkers have discovered a few cave paintings that eerily resemble Samael.

☥Gender: Male
☥D.O.B: It has been confirmed that the exact "day" of Samael's birth was December 21st. However, the year and location are still unknown to most.
☥Zodiac: Sagittarius
☥Blood Type: O Negative
☥Sexuality: Straight, Polyamorous/Polygamous, Aromantic
☥Father: N/A
☥Mother: N/A
☥Siblings: N/A
☥Spouse: N/A
☥Children: N/A
☥Affiliation/Rank: Samael is and has always been affiliated with the Demon Race as a whole. No matter who he makes allegiances with, or who attempts to align with him, his first priority will always be his own kind at every turn, beyond a shadow of a doubt. As far as Ranking goes, Samael wouldn't classify himself under any sort of banner heading. If you asked him, he would answer simply: "I am the End of the Line."

Shifter Appearance Written: While Samael has chosen to take many a form over his long and expansive life, they typically have looked all around the same basic model and form. It is fascinating, really, if one looks down the history books at his various appearances as they've been recorded. One would find that they differ only slightly form to form. A subtle shape change here, a change of hair length there, but they're all strikingly similar.

To start, one must carefully observe his facial structure. From the jawline, chiseled and perfected, one might draw a sense of strength from his design. From his cheekbones, aligned to give him an appearance that is both refined and dignified, one might get the feeling or the air of royalty in some form or fashion. His eyes are shaped to be narrowly open, as if he's concentrating on something for a majority of his time. However, this is not necessarily an aggressive or intense look, as these concentrated eyes can give him character at times, and actually make him look quite kind. His brow is sculpted to be multi-faceted, allowing him to express himself using only his eyebrows with nary a word at all. His nose is pointed, but in the sense that it is not overly wide, and is, in fact, shaped perfectly to fit his face, as one would expect of a being who claims to be "perfect".

On to Physique. From the waist up, one might notice that Samael is extremely "toned" in a word. For a towering build such as his, standing at seven feet and one-half inches exactly, one might expect for it to be difficult keeping up physically, as one has more body mass to account for when planning, scheduling, and organizing workouts. However, Samael knows not the meaning of the word "difficult", or so he claims. He spends copious amounts of time making sure his body is always in tip-top condition, preferable and ready to engage should a combat situation arise. From abdominal muscled chiseled into what is commonly known as a "six-pack", to broad, strong pecs, and rippling toned muscles along the arms, and shoulders. Below the waist, the situation is the same. Leg muscles toned to the pinnacle. Another thing one might notice about Samael is the complete lack of hair anywhere on his body, save for atop his head and upon his brow. No facial hair, body hair, groin hair, or anything else of the sort. It is a peculiarity, the lack of follicle activity he displays, but nothing to be too disturbed about.

His hair, although changed many a time over his generations of life, has stayed the same for his past several lifetimes. This is due to a few choice compliments he received on the style. It was referred to as "noble" and "befitting of a man such as he". And thus, he kept it. If one were to look, one would notice that it looked almost as if it was SUPPOSED to be short. Jagged edges along the sides and back show that maybe it was supposed to come above or around the earlobes/upper jaw line. However, the banks, and parts of the hair itself, disprove this theory. The sweeping bangs alone show that he had no intention of hair that was entirely short. Along with this, many strands of his hair were spared at their original length, creating portions in the back that extend down to his neck, shoulders, and a couple to his shoulder-blades even. This.. unique hair style has been considered odd, even by those with weirder hair, to speak of. However, no one Samael had met would ever say such a thing to his face, for reasons that should be abundantly clear.

Next, his skin. Samael's skin is a oddity, in ways, because one could not consider it overtly pale OR overtly dark. While it is more on the white side, in persuasion, it is of darker tone and shade of said white hues. This creates a rather odd combination remaining which is hard to describe besides with the blanket header "off-white", which is used to describe most people that are of white descent, but whom are darker than they should be, to any degree. His skin appears without any flaw or blemish. You could spend hours, or days even, examining this man, and find nary a pimple nor any sort of mole or freckle at any point or place on his body. Although his musculature is defined, one would not find a single place where a vein would show, or a muscle would appear off in any way. Even the very skin itself seems to glow with an angelic-like radiance that one would only expect from a truly divine being, despite how deceptive this appearance is.

For his eyes, it is interesting to see a being whom looks so angelic and divine in nature carry such evil, burdened, and monstrous eyes. The typical yellow coloration that one would expect to see in some primitive beast, or at the very least, a hollow or vizard of some sort, when the mask is on and all traces of humanity have been wiped from the very fabric of existence. This expectation wouldn't be too far off in Samael's case. Despite his ethereal, or rather godlike appearance, his eyes truly disclose his realistic nature, and show beyond even a shadow of a doubt, the kind of person one would expect to find in Samael. Not a friend, not a lover, but a monster.

Next up on the general listings, of course, is the attire. Now, when you think of the "demon" title, what would you expect for one carrying it to wear? Heavy armor? Most certainly. At the very least, attire suiting of one who would be perusing the fires of hell itself? Definitely. However, Samael.. does not spring for such things. Instead, his attire resembles moreso that of a classy gentleman, or a pharaoh if he were to be transported into modern times. When in casual wear, Samael can be seen most simply in blue jeans, designer (of course) and made to fit him perfectly. Over this he would wear a grey, form-fitting t-shirt, also designer. Atop this, he wears a necklace, one that would typically be expected to be seen on a king of some kind. A hoop around the neck with stone, ovular attachments every inch or so, starting from the mid-point of the neck between the front and back, and growing in size as one gets closer to the front-center of the hoop, until it reaches the one singular peg in the center which is larger than the others. However, his formal attire is much different than this, and much more classy, truly fitting a man of his stature. Dressed to the nines, Samael's typical outfit is, quite simply, a suit. Pin-striped and three-piece, this suit is as elegant as they come. Pressed, form-fitting while still allowing agile movement, and without wrinkle or scuff, he owns several of these, all in different color palettes, for variation of course. As well as shined and clean shoes to match exactly.

Last, but certainly not least, the reiatsu of Samael. When viewing it as it flowed freely, if he allows it to do so, one might see a deep, burning red, with a black outline. Almost as if it were a demonic fire in its own right. However, if one were to look even closer, toward the surface (if there is such a thing) of the mass of energy, one would see another, extremely, extremely thin, layer of the same deep, burning red color, ebbing and flowing along with the rest of the mass of energy. His reiatsu does not flow in a regular pattern like most spiritual beings, surrounding one's body and stretching into the sky. Instead, his reiatsu randomly spikes everywhere when fully released, flaring and releasing random energy every which way if he isn't carefully monitoring and controlling it. When he does monitor and control it though, he can create the illusion that his abilities aren't much more than your average Joe's.

Summary:
☥Height: 215 cm (7'0½")
☥Weight: 93 kg (205 lbs)
☥Hair Color: Blinding White
☥Eye Color: An acidic, almost hollow or vizard-looking Yellow.
☥Reiatsu/Aura Color: A fiery, burning, deep red, mixed with a dense and desolate midnight black, surrounded by a thin layer of the same red as aforementioned.

True Appearance Written:
One of the things that seems incredible about Samael is that he completely lacks a true appearance in the traditional sort. He has no giant final form, or epic transformation into some lovecraftian horror. The entirety of his being is, in essence, energy itself. When not condensed into a Shifter form, or what have you, Samael's body is a floating mass of black energy. It's impossible to see through, and more dense than any recorded fog.

Even knowing that his body is thus, one might find it hard to process the fact that this mass has no discernable shape. The edges and contents of this deep, midnight black energy are always swirling and changing. At any moment it could be as small as a thumbtack, or as large as an ocean, with no end in sight. The only constant to this ever-changing form, regardless of shape and size, is a voice emenating from it. Or so one might hear.

Depending on the person, it might be possible for someone to hear one voice, or fifty voices. Each unique. Each antagonizing and taunting. Each as carnal, primordial, and evil as humanly (or inhumanly) possible. This is simply the nature of Samael, as is the nature of hell itself, or as one would expect a physical manifestation of hell to be.

Oddly enough, this mass of energy won't seem to have any reiatsu or spiritual signature on its own. Whether this is due to the sheer power that it possesses, or due to the fact that it could quite possibly be leaking energy and power so rapidly, randomly, and carelessly that it would be impossible to detect any coming FROM the mass still remains a mystery, even to those who have known Samael for centuries.

Personality

____________________________________________________

To explain the complexities and levels of one such as Samael, one must work as if one is baking a cake, crafting slowly, layer by layer. However, as opposed to baking, the examination of Samael will be in reverse, from the topmost layer, to the innermost.

On the top layer, one might actually be completely deceived by the ruse he puts on. Samael, on the surface, could at first actually seem like a benevolent ruler, or a mighty and just king. On the very top-most layer, one could see Samael as someone to easily get along with. He will act caring toward you. He will ask you how your day has been, he will ask if you require assistance with anything in your life, and if so, he will ask how he specifically might be of assistance to you. He will act kind and loving, helping the meek in their journey toward the stars, the rich in their journey for fulfillment, the poor in their journey for wealth, or whatever else might come his way. He is not mean, nor is he vicious, or cruel. He will smile, he will laugh, and he will care, genuinely. He will offer advice, he will offer council, and he will offer friendship and gifts.

The layer underneath this, though, is a tad on the explanatory side when it comes to WHY he partakes in these actions. You see, Samael believes that if more and more people are there are that adore him, and care for him, in increasingly growing numbers, then more and more people will be inclined to follow him blindly if he requires anything of them. This is manipulative on a very base level, but the fact of the matter is that people BELIEVE him. He is a master of faces, and is skillful to a frightening degree at making those around him have faith in whatever he wants them to believe. So convincing is this act that he managed to fool an entire race into believing in a polytheistic deity system that truly didn't exist for EONS, with a few SURVIVING believers even to this day and age. The fact of the matter is, Samael simply doesn't actually feel for those he tends to. He watches, he observes, he plans, and he coordinates silently, from the shadows. This extends to his enemies as well. Rare is the time indeed when Samael will actually show himself on the front lines of, or anywhere near, a battle, especially one that he would sense to be particularly gruesome. He prefers with an almost absolute-certainty the use of strategy, as if any battle, or a war in its entirety, were only a game.

Which brings us to our next layer. The gathering of "Servants", so to speak, in his benevolent act that he masterfully performs, is nothing more to him than a game of cat and mouse, or rather, a game of mouse trap if you'd prefer. In fact, Chess would be the closest comparison to the devious game he plays with all those around him, enemies and allies alike. 1.)Those who fall for the bait that is his kindness and generosity blindly, putting loyalty above all else, and giving up everything, including their free will, simply to do Samael's bidding.. Those are the pawns in this game. 2.)Those who are.. the wildcards, the odd ones who tend to move on their own with naught but suggestion from Samael, THEY are the knights. Those who will obey WITH a sense of free-will still intact. 3.) Those who stick to what they know, moving as they normally would, simply in a different direction than they might have otherwise. Those are the Rooks. 4.) Those who move in the path that is crooked, the one that constantly fights Samael's will and his plan, even though in the end they have no choice in any way, they are the Bishops. 5.) The one that Samael can rely on most, his ace in the hole, his final playing card before an inevitable big finale, this is his Queen. One who can move and act as they wish, without really needing to adhere to the plan at all for the sheer confidence Samael has in their ability to overcome any obstacle. 6.) And finally, grand finale personified. The one who only moves when absolutely necessary. The one who moves for one purpose, and one purpose only, to put an end to the game. THAT is Samael Alaricus, the King of the Board, in the simplest of terms.

This, of course, brings us to the final layer, the TRUE personality of "Anax".

Underneath it all, the games, the facades, the acting, Samael is a truly uncaring being. The only thing he even remotely feels for in the slightest is his own kind, and that is manifested in more of a protective instinct than anything else, as they ARE his kind, and he would die before he saw them destroyed. Regardless of the game, he does hold his race, and the preservation of such, above all else. To the point where it becomes difficult for him to focus on much of anything else when someone THREATENS that preservation.

Beyond his own kind, though, Samael holds a complete and total disregard for all life. Be it animal, vegetable, mineral, human, or spiritual, he simply holds no room in the shriveled husk that he possesses where normally a "heart" would be for any sort of recognition of life as an important concept. As far as he saw it, everything that lived, would eventually die. There was no use in attempting to prevent it, there was no use in trying to stop it, or delay it. And there was certainly no use in mourning those who had already succumbed to it.

In any other regard, Samael is the cold, unfeeling bastard that he promises himself to be at every turn. He will do anything and everything under the sun in the pursuit of his interests, his allegiances, and the interests of those in the demon hierarchy with him. Primarily, among the royalty and such, as those below don't necessary have things on their plates or in their focus which would be in any way relevant to Samael himself.

He truly does loathe battle. Not because he's weak, or afraid, or against violence as a whole, but simply because he despises the very idea of getting his own hands dirty. Of course, if he has to, if push comes to shove, he will without a moment's hesitation. However, if there's another alternative, or someone else that can fight while he does his best to avoid doing so, he will take that route, if only for the sake of avoiding any sort of conflict that may lead to having to take immediate action personally.

His own personal interests are of the more classy sort, if one could believe that. Samael enjoys classical music, played on vinyl, aged wine, and being surrounded by beautiful women who tend to his every need whilst he relaxes and thinks up new plans for the Demon race as a whole. Some might call this lazy behavior, Samael simply calls it enjoying the finer things in life, as he has spent too many years working, bleeding, and sweating to get where he currently is. He's done so much for himself, for the race, and for the royalty therein, that he sees himself as deserving of as much rest, relaxation, and the spoils of war as he can possibly get for himself. This doesn't mean he is completely apathetic, though. When there are things that need to be done, he's the very first to recognize them as needing such, and he'll be the first one to jump and make sure they get done. This is partly because he doesn't like relying on others, partly because he enjoys making sure that things get done, and also in part to the fact that he doesn't TRUST anyone else to get the job done.

Samael is truly a man of few words for those who he doesn't know in a personal setting. He likes to keep to himself to a degree, but not because he's introverted, or socially awkward, he just prefer to observe and study, rather than gab and lose focus when it comes to the important things, such as evaluating all of those around you to get the sort of information that one needs if one is trying to truly be "the most intelligent being in the room", as Samael tends to attempt to be quite often. For those who DO know him though, one of two options is possible.

On the one hand, if you're allied to him, Samael will put on a similar show to those he's attempting to will under his wing. He will offer you wine, women, and all the luxuries of his home and his position. He will talk to you as if you really are important, even though a majority of his personality contradicts the possibility of him believing such. However, even if it's all for show, it is still convincing to a degree, even to those who have known him, and known his personality, and his tendency to put on such acts.

On the other hand, if you are a known enemy of his, he will talk to you as a king talks to one in the stockade, or about to face the gallows. His speech, his actions, his very movements resonate with the energy of one who is utterly bored with whatever it is you're saying or doing, and completely uninterested in the "hows" and "whys", caring only to get you out of his sight as soon as possible. If you are there specifically to fight him, you will be treated to irritated actions, as he will protest at every turn until it is absolutely impossible to continue protesting. If you still insist, then he will, begrudgingly, combat you, but not without a high degree of irritation, and no small amount of prejudice toward you personally for wasting his time, energy, and combat prowess on a mere, insignificant welp. For that is what you must be to even dare intrude upon him, and his time to himself.

One thing that's characteristic to Samael is his smile. His lips will nearly always be at least partially upturned in some sort of happy, or at least amused, expression. Whether this is out of genuine amusement, or simply because he enjoys disturbing those around him, isn't really known. God help the one, however, who manages to make that smile leave his face. There are very few things that can irritate or anger Samael. Assuming one is equal to him at all is one of these things, as it is inconceivable to Samael for anyone to even reach him on the vastly superior level he believes himself to be on. Maggots overstepping their position is another one of these things. E.G. people from other organizations who broke orders to seek him out, or those in his own organization who decided that they wished to seek him when they had other duties to attend to, lest there be a VERY important reason.

Such things will show one an entirely different side of Samael. Gone is the noble prince who doesn't want to so much as dirty his hands. Gone is the smile, and the attitude of uncaring. When this point is passed, Samael will use every resource at his disposal simply and efficiently to annihilate the one who dared to cross his bad side from the very face of existence itself.

Part Two: The Myths Behind the Legend

____________________________________________________

The Sealed Form
____________________________________________________

Physical Attributes:

Frightening Natural Intelligence and Analytical Ability:
Samael's greatest weapon is his prodigious mind, possessing a genius-level intellect. He is capable of devising and executing strategies with incredible speed and precision. As a child, and even to this day, he is a brilliant chess player, besting any opponent who plays against him. He can manipulate people and factions with well-spoken speeches and clever deceptions, easily ensnaring multitudes of people into his web. This is, in part, because he's a true master of divulging the strengths, weaknesses, and such of those around him. Including the kinds of things that people find endearing, and the kinds of things that set people off.

Unfathomable Sword Skill:
Samael has had generations, eons even, to perfect his favorite and favored method of combat. He has studied every aspect and school of the blade. Anything from Kendo to Fencing, he has at least some knowledge of, and can replicate expertly in combat. It gets to the point where, even with large swords, Samael can strike quickly and lethally, aiming for vital points and important areas as a priority, aiming to disable and kill quickly, instead of simply slicing and attacking blindly. His precision and skill is terrifying to those who don't know the blade, and deadly to those who are weak to it.

Galactic Spiritual Output:
When not controlling or holding back the amount of spiritual energy that he puts out, Samael's natural reiatsu is on a level that some might consider insane. His spiritual output is.. enormous, to say the very least. With the potential to level city blocks, uproot trees, and toss any loose objects miles away, it becomes exceedingly difficult to find an opponent to face Samael who wouldn't be, at the very least, sweating a little from the pressure of his full reiatsu. Weak opponents wouldn't really be able to be near him at all, as his sheer power is enough to send some to their knees, and even cause some to pass out, or otherwise lose some sort of cognitive thought from simply being around him when his full power is being brought to bear.

The Four Immeasurables:

Most beings, when one talks about their power, will talk about one particular aspect of their natural attributes. For instance, you may have someone with extraordinary muscular structure. And for this, they will be known for their strength. For others, they may be well versed in the art of rapid movement, and will thusly be known for their speed. Samael's physicality works a bit differently than that. You see, Samael's guiding principle of "balance" effects his physicality as well. He has the potential to be known for being a master in any of four primary, core attributes. However, because of the need for balance, he is only able to have one of these active at any given time, making him seemingly unmatched in the specific area until he switches to another. He can switch between these with such ease and speed that some may be fooled into believing he is a true master of all, when in reality this isn't the case, though it is more than likely what he wishes them to believe. The truth of it is that he can only use one per post, and can only switch at the beginning of the next post. Switching more than once in a single post will burn him out. While it will allow him to use this combination for two posts, he will be unable to use any immeasurables after that second post, for the rest of the battle.

  • Tugevus (lit. "Strength"): Samael, when having the active immeasurable as "Tugevus", will have his physical and muscular strength augmented beyond what should be even remotely possible. Now, do not be mistaken, it isn't as if Samael becomes some giant, hulking creature or anything. His appearance and musculature doesn't seem to change in the slightest. However, anyone who assumes that this means he is completely unchanged will be met with a rude awakening at Samael's next attack. His physical strength in its entirety will have been DRASTICALLY augmented. Samael could, with a single punch, repeal an asteroid if it were about to hit the earth. Or, otherwise, he could easily level LARGE portions of the earth itself if he were to attack randomly. With a simple stomp, he could crack and crater the very earth below him. It all depends, at this point, on his own personal level of control, as any number of things are made possible through the sheer, raw, strength that Samael has when using this technique.

  • Kiirus (lit. "Speed"): "Kiirus", the second of the four Immeasurables, augments a different sort of physicality, Samael's footwork, and movement. In other words; his speed. Samael's natural movement speed, the speed in which he attacks, defends, or what have you. This isn't a steps technique, so to speak, as no real reiatsu output is involved, like in the case of the Hirenkyaku. It is simply his body being augmented to the point where his every movement is blindingly fast. When he so much as walks, the air around him might seem to vibrate from how fast his every fiber is moving. In fact, his speed is such in this state, that if one of a weaker persuasion than him attempted to block a move of his, they might not get the chance, as it's entirely possible that Samael had, in fact, already hit them, and their senses, untrained to that sort of speed and reaction time, couldn't possibly keep up, seeing an afterimage left behind as he moved, and attempting to block THAT, while the REAL Samael had already made his move.

  • Kaitse (lit. "Defense"): The third Immeasurable, "Kaitse", is an add-on.. of sorts, to the already present Akuma Kyodo. While Samael's speed and strength will both be gone, back to base level, his defense will have increased exponentially. One will find that, while utilizing this technique, cutting Samael at all will become increasingly difficult. Not impossible, mind you, but definitely a huge challenge for anyone under his own strength. Samael's willpower alone could get him through most any attack without so much as a wince to show if it effected him or not, however, with Kaitse active, his body will truly start to mirror that tolerance for brutality. Simply put, picture the most heavily fortified doom fortress you've ever seen, experienced, or heard of. Next, change the material of every wall, every floor, every nook and cranny into a dense Sekiseki rock. Finally, encase the whole thing into a protective casing made entirely of an adamantium-steel hybrid. That, roughly, would give you a picture of the sheer brutality Samael can withstand before his defenses break. Hell, flip the planet around and smack him with it, he *might* flinch. For those who specialize in destruction, these defenses don't seem nearly that impressive. But to those who aren't at the top of their offensive game, this ability is daunting.

  • Inimene (lit. "Soul"): The fourth, and final, of the Four Immeasurables, derives from the "Soul", or "Spirit", as shown by the name, "Inimene". This one is different from the others, as the thing it effects is not an OUTWARD principle, but an inward one. For this ability, imagine you had a kiddy-pool, or some other small wading-pool, and you decided that wasn't enough. So you bought a much larger more expansive pool. Deeper, and able to hold more water. This is a good reference for one to think of if one wants to understand, truly, how Samael's Inimene works. What this basically does is enhance his reiryoku, expanding his spiritual limitations to exponentially enhance the amount of reiatsu he has available for use at any given point, for any given ability. Deceptively, this does not increase his spiritual pressure, allowing any given opponent to believe that nothing at all has changed.

Equipment:

The Two Seals:
Samael's facade of the "noble King" is one that he follows to an almost obsessive degree. He has become so enamored with making people believe that he is really just, and simply "one of the people", that he has a set of seals that he places upon his own body. Each of these seals off a specific amount of his total power, and each is specially crafted to be placed and taken off at will. The placement for these is on his back, in the form of two tattoos, one on his upper back, across his shoulder blades, and one on his lower back, with the bottom of the circle on his waistline.

The Seal of Dukkha:
The first seal, the more complex of the two, is on his lower back, covering up a large majority of the skin and muscle. This seal contains trangular shapes, eclipsed and surrounded by a swirling and repeating set of three circles, all intertwined. This stands for Balance, and the true connection of all things. This seal takes Samael's total power and halves it, taking fifty percent of his available strength and sealing it away.

The Seal of Cessation:
The second seal, the more simple and understated one, is on his upper back, covering his shoulder blades, and meeting the top of the other sigil in the middle of his back. This seal's appearance is fondly known in some cultures as the "Sigil of Lilith". It is comprised of three cross-shapes, meeting an h-type tail in the middle. This seal takes the half of his power that is already drained from the first seal, and halves it again, leaving Samael with only one-fourth, or twenty-five percent, of his total strength while this seal is active.

The Theravadin:

The Theravadin is a set of Runes, so to speak. These can be placed virtually anywhere (temporarily, of course, they're not permanent) by Samael with a burst of reiatsu, and a singular word spoken from betwixt his lips. (The name of the Summon, usually.) Once a rune is placed, Samael can summon forth creatures of his own design from them. Each appearing with a burst of light, differing in color based on the Rune in use. Samael can use one of each rune at a time, but he IS able to have ALL of his runes on the battlefield at one time. These are, above all, his own personal militant force, for use as he sees fit.

  • Naraka:

Appearance: The "Naraka" are, in the most simple way to put it, giants. Crafted from stone and spirit, the Naraka are massive, hundred-fifty-foot-tall creatures, shaped in a vaguely-human type design, although their body is completely stone in appearance. From the random mountain-type peaks jutting from their shoulders, to the thick, granite-like stone that makes up what could be discerned as "facial features", such as a Brow, or expressions of anger, or other such things. These creatures, while the arrangement of the stone sometimes varies, have two things in common: Black, swirling, soul-less voids of energy where their eyes should be, and the complete and utter lack of a mouth. The rune used to summon these is that of an Infinity Sign, seemingly merged with an assortment of Triangles to make an odd-looking rune.

    The Rune:

Samael "Anax" Alaricus [Project App][HEAVY WIP] Lamen_741_1

Abilities: The Naraka are known for pure, destructive energy, with seemingly no regard for technique, speed, or thought. The Naraka have strength, and size, on their side, easily able to level large portions of any given city if summoned. They are extremely durable, able to take a multitude of ceros, up to a total of two Gran Rey from the Segunda Espada, before they collapse. However, the drawbacks to this are that they really are extremely slow, lumbering beings. The Naraka are easily outmaneuvered, as they don't think before attacking. Beyond this, The Naraka cannot be re-summoned until after the thread is over once they are defeated, meaning the number that Samael starts with, is the number he has to stick with.

  • Preta:

Appearance: The "Preta" are ghost-like beings, ethereal in appearance. nature, and movement. Each is roughly humanoid in shape, but with missing limbs, or chunks taken out of them at random places, or other such things. They glow with the expected, ghostly, sickening green-ish color, with eyes that glow the same, containing washed-out pupils that blend in with the irises around them. They all carry a one-handed weapon of some kind, whether it be a mace, a sword, or what have you. The rune that summons these appears to be a circular shape, containing various symbols, all roughly Lunar in nature.

    The Rune:

Samael "Anax" Alaricus [Project App][HEAVY WIP] Sigil_2_b_w_by_FargonNemeloc

Abilities: Unlike the Naraka, the Preta do not have monstrous strength. Instead, they opt for speed of movement, and sheer sword skill. Each individual unit has an extensive combat experience, being able to keep up on an even-keel with adepts and advanced users of their weapons, but being outshined by Masters. As barely-constructed beings, the Preta's defenses are very weak. Basically, as soon as an attack from an opponent makes contact with them, they dissolve into nothing. Samael may summon more, but it is a constant tax on his reiatsu for him to do so.

Number of Units on the Field: 100 (500 in an Event Thread)

  • Animalia:

Appearance: The Animalia are a different form of attack-breed for Samael's uses, as opposed to the previously mentioned beings. The Animalia are just that, animals. Specifically, wolf-ish, dog-like beings that appear to have spawned from the very bleakest and most desolate depths of Hell itself. On the whole, the Animalia appear as a normal strong husky-type dog would. Broad shoulders, powerful muscles, thick fur (deep black in coloration), et cetera. The differences, and the reason it's referred to as a Hellish appearance, becomes apparent almost immediately, however. Down the spines of these nightmarish beings, one will find pure hellfire, making a line, following the path of the vertebrae, and jetting up at random. In the eyes, you will find only that same fire, burning eternally in the sockets. The rune for summoning these appears to be almost alien-like in origin, with tentacle-like bone appendages and an oval-shaped "head" of sorts. When the Animalia die, Samael is able to summon more, but he can only summon up to five replacements for fallen ones, after that, he cannot summon more for the rest of the battle.

    The Animalia:

    The Rune:

Samael "Anax" Alaricus [Project App][HEAVY WIP] Sigil+of+the+Three+Lobed+Burning+Eye

Abilities: The Animalia are useful for sheer speed and viciousness, above all else. With ease, they will duck attacks, slide through enemy ranks, and attempt to terminate the intended target with extreme and unshakeable prejudice. The Jaws of Life don't have as strong a grip as the jaws of these eldritch horrors, and their bites carries an excruciatingly painful burning sensation on whoever the poor soul was who got bitten by one. Beyond their jaw strength, burning bite, vicious attitude, and blinding speed, The Animalia are also useful for plain obedience. They will do whatever Samael commands, no matter what it may be, with no rebellion or protest. This is seen by Samael as an endearing trait, as he finds blind obedience respectable, and rather entertaining, above all else. This obedience is, in fact, saved specifically FOR Samael, or those he deems Worthy, at the very least. A major downside, however, is that the Animalia are rather weak to those who have strength as a primary attribute. As they are, by all means, undead, their bones are very weak, and easily shattered by one able to do so.

  • Brahma:

Appearance: The Brahma are hard to describe in any sort of context. The main reason for this is the fact that they are, technically, shapeless. They start out as pure energy, and then morph into a vaguely humanoid shape. From this shape, they can morph to be as large or as small as they wish to be, with their maximum size limit at about 300 feet. The Brahma, when in a humanoid shape, take the appearance of men, bald and clothes-less, with no genitalia anywhere in sight. The skin of these beings will glow a medium blue, and their eyes will glow with an eerie white. On the center of their forehead is a circle with a dot in the center, almost like a target, one might say. The Rune for summoning these beings looks like a creature from the same origins as many horrors of the deep, or any other such place. Vaguely skull-like in appearance, the appendages that branch off from it are anything but welcoming, and are a good warning to any opponents that something wicked is coming.

    The Rune:

Samael "Anax" Alaricus [Project App][HEAVY WIP] Cthulhu_sigil

Abilities: The main ability set of these beings is pure, cosmic power. Not only do they possess the strength of the Naraka, and the speed of the Preta and the Animalia, they also possess the same loyalty as the Animalia, obeying every last one of Samael's commands to the letter. They are extremely powerful, and should not be taken lightly, as their combat prowess alone is a formidable match for some. Beyond this, they also have a special ability unseen in any of Samael's other summons. With a point of the index finger toward the sky, the Brahma can summon down a beam of cosmic energy, striking with the force of a neutron bomb (or, roughly a Cero Oscuras), directly on whatever the Brahma is looking at, or otherwise attacking, in that moment. The primary downside to the Brahma's power, is also the most glaringly obvious. The circle on their forehead is their true weak spot. Hit it, and you don't really have to fight them. They'll shut down instantaneously. And once they're gone, they're gone until the end of the battle, no re-summoning allowed for these.

Samsāra (Sanskrit: संसार) (in Tibetan called 'khor ba (pronounced kɔrwɔ [IPA] in many Tibetan dialects), meaning "continuous flow"): One of Samael's main items of equipment, and perhaps his favorite out of all of them, is his Samsara. The "Samsara" is a blade, roughly a meter or so in length. The style of the blade itself is much how one would picture the Royal and Regal blades of old to appear, with the blade's point in the dead-center, as opposed to curved like a traditional Japanese blade. At the base of the blade, it spikes slightly in both the left and right directions, creating a barb of sorts. On and below this is a twisted, branch-like pattern, atop an ornate design (the crest of Samael's house and kingdom). Below this is the Guard, which extends, much like the barbs, in both the left and right direction. The darker, grey steel has claw-like curves up and down the guard, each decorated with an ornate, almost Gaelic-type design. Next, the grip. The Guard is linked to the grip by another curled pattern, of a lighter coloration than the guard itself. The grip is, by all accounts, standard. Except, of course, for the chain-mesh pattern that adorns the entirety of it. At the base of the grip is an inverted flower-type attachment, with steel "petals" and a ruby in the center as the "stigma". This blade was custom-made for Samael himself, eons ago, and is his favorite piece of weaponry in any universe. Though he has seen other weapons, his Samsara is still his favorite, by far. Beyond just LOOKING pretty, it also has a few.. special traits of its own that Samael quite enjoys.

Samael "Anax" Alaricus [Project App][HEAVY WIP] AngelsSword_zps8591cc1d

  • Spiritual Makeup: The essence of Samsara, the core, and the very design of it, is comprised entirely of spiritual particles, woven in and out and threaded and infused into a metal, combined with Sekiseki. The result of this is that Samael's blade can not only fight on par with blades of a much higher strength from opponents who have vastly powerful weapons of their own. This also helps prevent Samsara from breaking, as the spiritual particles can compress and strengthen to harden the blade itself. Beyond this, it also allows Samael to summon the blade at will, keeping the spiritual particles that make it up floating around him normally, until he has need of it, at which point they will all converge in his hand to make the blade itself. It can be summoned and un-summoned in this matter at any point.

  • Absolute Domination: Much like a Shinigami's Zanpakutō, Samael's Samsara is bound to his soul. However, it runs more deeply than a simple connection. Samsara is infused with his own, specific spiritual signature. When Samael touches the hilt of Samsara, his own spiritual energy is read by the blade, and the blade becomes operable. When Samael ISN'T touching the blade, when it isn't his spiritual energy that is being detected or read, the blade becomes nigh unusable. Not only is Samael able to break it apart or reform it at will anyway, but also, like the Mjolnir of legend, Samael's blade becomes infinitely more heavy when he isn't touching it. Without Samael's spiritual signature infused into it, the Samsara will weigh billions of pounds. So much so that if Samael were to drop Samsara, the impact on the ground, and the surrounding area, could be extremely devastating, especially from any great height. This also has the secondary effect of the blade being extremely difficult, if not impossible, for anyone to pick up but himself, as the huge weight of the blade is too much for almost any opponent.

    Spoiler:
  • Absolute Constant Velocity: Absolute constant velocity (or ACV for short) is a rather interesting power that isn't too commonly found. First of all, it requires motion in a swing from the sword to properly work. By charging his sword with an intense amount of reiatsu, the blade will begin to glow brightly and illuminate in a dark red colour. Following this, any motion or strike that Samael does with the blade can slice through anything it touches, not being able to stop until the slash as reached it's end or Samael has decided to stop mid swing. This is a powerful technique utilized by few people, allowing them to slash through anything without meeting resistance at all. Slice through metal? Samael's sword slash could go through it like it was nothing but air. The same goes for Seki-seki stone, the material that borders Seireitei as a defense mechanism. Although it needs to be noted that such attacks do not work so directly on weapons that are apart of someone; such as a Zanpakutō or spirit weapon. Any other weapon, this works with great effect, but a zanapakuto or something similar? It isn't likely to cut through it. Although this doesn't mean it won't be extremely damaging to the person behind it. Why would it be damaging? As they are stopping an, apparent, 'unstoppable force' it would be difficult to instant stop it by a simple block. To be struck by this sword technique in a block could very well launch you across the landscape and injure yourself by other means. On some cases, Samael has shown to be able to slice Zanpakutō in half (with permission of the said character) as well as Quincies Spirit Weapons.

Drawbacks: One of the major drawbacks to this ability has been covered, being that he cannot fully slice through an opponents Zanpakutō, only occasionally working as it is bound to their soul and considered a part of themselves. Not only this, but it becomes dangerous to Samael in some other aspects as he might be able to slice up the environment unwillingly, causing an unstable structure for them to fight in. Eg, if he was fighting in a city; he might coincidently slice open buildings whilst swinging his sword crazily, and end up burying himself in rubble from the buildings. Finally, to use such an ability he must sacrifice a portion of his defense; meaning that to use this unstoppable blade technique, it is needed that he pushes more energy into the blade, rather than his actual body. Which, for example, will leave him defenseless to say, a punch or a sword slash if he were to get hit, becoming much more injured that he normally would whilst this is active.

The Three Jewels:

The three Jewels are.. containers, of a sort. Each contains a different set of magics and information, to achieve a desired effect whenever the Jewels are used. Samael can summon them out of seemingly thin air, although he usually has them somewhere on his person if he's in his own realm, as he uses them for his own amusement.

  • Life: The Jewel of Life is one of Samael's favorite tools for his facade, if nothing more. The Jewel of Life has the ability to bring any object that is dead, back to life. Now, this doesn't include sentient beings of a higher-thinking nature. (E.G. Humans, Demons, Iramasha, Shinigami, et cetera.), and it DEFINITELY doesn't work on himself. However, it DOES include animals, and CAN include low-level hollows (below the Adjuchas level). All he has to do is have it touching some part of his own body. Once this step has been reached, he can simply mutter the word "Vita" (lit. "Life"), and whatever object he places his hands on will regain the life it once had. For example, if someone brought a plant to him, or crops, or a prized vegetable or fruit of some sort, Samael could use the JOL to revive it to full and untouched nature. For animals, and hollows, this becomes a bit more complicated. He can save the body, certainly, but the JOL is unable to salvage the "soul" of such beasts. For animals and hollows alike, any self-thinking or questioning or intelligence will be gone from whatever he revives. In its place will be a mindless beast, only able to act on instinct, and unable to so much as hold any sort of judgement for the fine line between what it is and isn't capable of doing.

  • Alteration: The Jewel of Alteration is one that Samael uses quite often when in an area that would be considered by himself, if not others, to be unworthy of him. Using the Jewel of Alteration, Samael can morph and terraform the surrounding environment, with a diameter of two miles. Anything (non-sentient) that is present in this area, he can alter, change, move, twist, bend, and shape to his will and design. This is especially useful when Samael is in a desolate or barren area, or if he needs an area re-shaped to meet certain conditions, such as if he wants to fight on a Mountain range for dramatic effect, or if he doesn't like the way the buildings around him are placed, if they might pose a threat once they've fallen. However, there are some limitations to this. 1.) He cannot forcefully move anyone sentient. Meaning, if someone's standing on a specific piece of ground, he cannot move that piece of ground. He can alter the makeup of it (e.g. make it a snow-type terrain, or change the material it's made from) but he can't move it. 2.) He cannot make any alterations that would DIRECTLY affect an opponent. (e.g. He cannot alter the ground below an opponent to be magma, or a black hole, or some other such nonsense. On the same note, he cannot alter the environment in a way that would negatively effect the opponent, such as making the whole area water or ice-based if the opponent is of a fiery persuasion. Also, he cannot alter the terrain in a way that would hurt the opponent indirectly, such as if he altered the world around them so a building was hanging over the opponent, only to then fall on them.) 3.) Finally, he cannot alter any terrain that has been protected or sealed off by another, or any terrain that has defenses on it to prevent such alterations. To use the JOA, the same rule applies as for the JOL. It MUST be touching his body somewhere. After this, Samael simply has to speak the word "Novo" (lit. "Change"). Once he does this, the two-mile diameter is activated, and Samael can edit the world around him as he pictures the new appearance to look within his head.

  • Death: The Jewel of Death is one that Samael typically uses moreso for intimidation than anything. The Jewel of Death works under the same principle as the Jewel of Life, but on a larger scale. When using the Jewel of Death, an unseen circle of energy (about 20 feet in diameter) will form around Samael's feet. Anything non-sentient within this circle will slowly shrivel, and die. This means plant-life, animals, bacteria, low-level hollows, and even ambient reiatsu will slowly die in a corruption-type of state. The circle itself extends upward as well, as high as a skyscraper is tall, roughly two hundred and fifty feet. Within the circle itself, the distance from Samael matters quite a bit. The farther something is from him, the slower the decaying process is. The closer something gets, the stronger the rotting becomes. The stronger the thing that enters the field is, the less it'll be effected by it. But the opposite is also true. This means that a weaker thing, such as a tree, or a hollow, or even a cero of any normal strength, could quite possibly be completely corroded and dispersed before it even reaches Samael himself. Like anything, this has drawbacks. The first of these is the very fact that opponents will not be effected by this. Only things of a non-sentient nature will truly be subject to this technique. The second is the range. Twenty-feet across may sound like a lot, but when attacks are very strong, traveling very fast, they have the potential to bypass the field entirely. Just like the other two Jewels, this one MUST be touching his body for it to have any effect. Once it is, Samael can utter "Mortem" (lit. "Death"), and the energy field will activate.

Unique Abilities:

Wine Manipulation:

The first ability Samael commands is an interesting sort of control-type technique. Some people have the ability to control elements, or energy, or even more specific things like strains of certain bacterium, or steel compounds. While Samael does not have an advanced level of control over any of these things, he DOES have control over one thing in particular: Wine. Red, preferably. While he can control white, he tends to stick to using this ability on red wine, as he believes it to be more refined, and he sees it as having a more nice aesthetic than white wine.

The full scale of his control includes: Forming weapons out of hardened liquid that are good to block one attack before dissolving, forming it into spikes and other such things to attack opponents from the environment around him, using it to shape seals and other such incantations, multiplying the quantity of it, et cetera. One of his most proud uses of this is using it to create a bubble, potentially around the opponent, if they aren't quick enough to dodge it, which can have a drowning effect if they cannot get out quickly enough, although the bubble is comparatively weak to his other abilities, as it is more of a distraction than anything.

He can also transmogrify wine into water, and vice versa, at will. However, this only works on water that has come from the surrounding environment. If it is created by an opponent, he can't use this effect on it.

The Middle Way:

An ability unique to Samael's own being, and one that he has spent generations perfecting, The Middle Way is one of the defining traits of Samael. It is, quite possibly, one of his strongest and most developed techniques, despite being an ability useable from even a base, sealed level.

To start the explanation of this ability, one must truly start by explaining the essence of Samael himself. You see, when he condenses himself into a shifter form, the being that is made is created for one purpose, and one purpose alone: Balance. He is made to be the line between the meek and the strong, between the low, and the high.

Because of this need for balance, Samael's spiritual energy channels itself in a rather.. odd sense when focused through The Middle Way.

The way that most spiritual particles move and materialize is through microscopic vibration. One of the biggest advantages of the Quincy arsenal is the Seele Schneider, which vibrates at a faster rate, allowing them to easily slice through things, beings, and other things crafted from spiritual energy. Samael's spiritual energy, when used in The Middle Way, and channeled through his hands, is unique in the regard that it vibrates the OPPOSITE way.

What this basically entails, is that anything with a spiritual signature, any thing that has been altered using spiritual energy, Samael's "Middle Way" will create the antithesis of. It will adjust based on the energy signature it is making contact with to create a negation technique that makes spiritual energy basically useless against him.

This isn't a technique that removes things from existence, or anything of the sort. In fact, if anything, one could call it more or less a "recycling" technique. What it does, in essence, is return anything that has been altered or crafted from spiritual energy into its first and most basic form, keeping the base elements while removing the tampering that has occured.

For example, if an opponent was an earth-type elemental user, they could feasibly imbue the ground with their spiritual energy, or take control over a section of the ground, to attempt to attack him. If they took this path, Samael could swipe his hand against the earth that they use against him. His spiritual energy, channeled through The Middle Way, would reverse the alteration to the earth, returning the earth into the simplistic, non-altered form that it previously was. It works with multiple things, however. If one used fire from the world around him to pelt him, in an attempt to burn him, he could easily use The Middle Way to remove any traces of spiritual alteration to the flames, returning them to basic flames which would then fall uselessly to the ground, or simply fizzle out if they're in an environment in which flames shouldn't exist in the first place.

Another example of this would be those such as the Arrancar, who use Cero, or the Shinigami, who use Kidō. Even though they aren't utilizing the world around them for such techniques, they still transform energy into something that it shouldn't naturally be, an offensive ability. If an arrancar were to fire a cero at Samael, and Samael managed to use his Middle Way technique on it, the Cero would seem to dissolve, returning into its most pure form, the Reishi and Reiatsu that it was comprised of, and the same rule applies for Kidō.

In a more specific example, this also works against those who alter Spacial Alteration. If one had the ability to warp the space around them, create portals, or whatever else might fall under this header, Samael would simply have to channel this ability into whatever alteration was made, be it directly into a portal, or what have you. When he does this, that specific section of Space will return to its normal and unchanged form, before the alteration was made.

The other, and final, usage for this, and the one that Samael uses far less often, is.. less apparent to those who would see this ability in use, even those who could guess or discern how the ability worked, or how Samael used it. To use this final technique, Samael must meet a certain set of conditions and prerequisites. First, his opponent has to be in a released form. So, for instance, if he was fighting a Shinigami, they would have to have already released their blade into the Shikai or Bankai release for this ability to take effect. Second, Samael himself must sacrifice anywhere between one-sixteenth, and three-fourths, of his total available reiatsu for the remainder of the battle if he is to use it. Third, Samael must make direct contact to establish a circuit for this specific use. Meaning, he has to have at least one, if not both hands, directly on the opponent's weapon. When each and every one of these conditions are met, Samael can actually use this ability on the reiatsu of the opponent themselves. With considerable effort, Samael can use the same reverse-particle effect to reverse the effects of the opponent's release, and on the air around them, as well as the opponent. By doing this, he will effectively re-seal the opponent's abilities into their original form, (E.G. Re-seal a bankai or shikai back into the sealed blade) a technique he does not use often, or lightly, simply because of how taxing it is on his own person, and how difficult it is to achieve. He CAN do this multiple times, if the opponent has multiple spirits or releases. (E.G. Seal a Ziamichi form back to its original after re-sealing a shikai). The number of times he can do this, however, is based on the strength of the opponent.

Now, like any technique, The Middle Way has drawbacks.

For starters, he can only channel this ability through things he touches with his HANDS, specifically. Thusly, if one were to hit him with an attack in the head, or torso, or legs, or back, or whatever other part might be assaulted, then he wouldn't be able to use this technique on it at all.

Secondly, if his hands are COVERED in any way, (E.G, gloves, pockets, cloth, tissue, wrappings, whatever one might think of) then this ability will NOT be able to work. He can ONLY use The Middle Way if there is no obstacle between the intended target and his hands.

Thirdly, this ONLY works on ENERGY and ELEMENTAL-type abilities. Things born OF something else, things made FROM something else USING reiatsu. Things such as cero, Kidō, or the altered earth elements. If one were to attack him using PHYSICAL means, such as Hand-To-Hand combat, or Swordsmanship, or other such methods, he would be unable to use this ability to prevent anything coming at him, as none of the attacks that would be hitting him would be at all born of something else, it is all up to the wielder's skill at that point.

And lastly, for the drawbacks of the final ability of The Middle Way. The conditions for using it, in their own respect, are a drawback. It is vastly difficult to lay one's bare hands on an opponent's weapon, especially if that opponent is equal or superior to Samael in strength, this could prove considerably harder than against a weaker opponent. The stronger the opponent is, the more reiatsu Samael has to use to contain their power. Opponents far weaker than him may require barely any, such as an eighth, or a sixteenth, judging on the sheer power gap. Opponents ON his level could take up to HALF of his available reiatsu simply to seal. Opponents ABOVE his level might take three-fourths, or sometimes, in rare cases, even more, depending on the sheer level of power they put out. Another disadvantage to this comes in the form of the sheer variation in enemies. For instance, if one's released state didn't HAVE a weapon (e.g. a Shinigami who's bankai imbued them with some sort of ability, and removed a weapon from the equation entirely) then Samael has nothing to channel The Middle Way through, thus rendering this ability useless. Another example of this is the possibility for an opponent to create MANY weapons in a released state. If there is no "original" weapon linked back to the owner, Samael cannot use this ability. If Samael channels his reiatsu through the wrong weapon, or a duplicate of some kind, he still suffers the reiatsu loss, but without the opponent being sealed. Another major drawback is the fact that Samael has to pay the reiatsu cost for EVERY time he does this. Meaning that if he seals a shikai that takes one-fourth of his reiatsu, and then seals a Kyuu Kyou that takes half of his reiatsu, then Samael is short a total of three-fourths of his available reiatsu, with no way to get it back until the battle has ended. Another drawback to this ability is the fact that Samael's sealing process only works at its best if the form he's sealing has a reiatsu output, or is effecting the outward world in some way. For those such as Ichigo Kurosaki, the circumstances change somewhat. In the instance of his bankai, he COMPRESSES all of the power of bankai into a smaller, thinner blade for more INTERNAL power. This kind of ability, or release, is more difficult for Samael to seal, as it takes more of his reiatsu to get past the compression, since the density of spiritual pressure in his opponent would create a wall, of sorts, that he would have to breach first. The final drawback, and one of the most obvious ones, is the simple fact that even once he's SEALED a form, there's no way for him to KEEP it sealed. For instance, if he sealed a Shinigami's shikai, the Shinigami in question could EASILY re-release their sword back to the Shikai state. The only downside for them would be the added strain.

The Noble Eightfold Path:

The Noble Eightfold Path is a series of abilities that Samael has access to. Some of them are active, some of them are passive, but they all help him toward his ultimate goal of becoming one who is truly ascended. Each is termed after a "correct" way to live one's life. Buddhists believe that the concepts of these eight abilities can prevent one from experiencing suffering.

  • Samyag Dṛṣṭi: The first of the Eight is "Samyag Drsti", or "Right View". This is a passive ability that affects, primarily, Samael's eyesight, and higher brain function. In essence, any illusion, or haze, or fog, or technique of the sort, will be useless against him. Anything that could alter his view, his mind, or his emotions, will be disregarded, and ignored, as if Samael doesn't even know it is there. This is because the concept of the "Right View" is focused solely on viewing reality as it is, not just as it appears to be. Because of this, Samael will always see the true reality, and the truth of what is really around him. Constructs of illusion, imagination, or anything related to dreams will not be viewed by him. Neither will constructs or abilities made to leech off of his fear, greed, or what have you. The drawback to this, is that if an ally creates such a thing that would otherwise help him, he would be truly unable to view it, or experience it.

  • Samyag Saṃkalpa: The second branch of the Eightfold Path is "Samyag Samkalpa", or "Right Intention", and is described as intention of renunciation, freedom and harmlessness. It is an active ability, meant to aid allies. What this means, as far as the ability itself goes, is that Samael can remove de-buffing and negative status-type effects from those around him. Be it poison, burning, freezing, immobilization, or what have you. This extends, even, to mental effects. Such as if an ally is burdened by an illusion, or by fear or doubt if brought on by an opponent. The major downside to this comes in two parts. The first is that he CANNOT use this on himself. ONLY those allied with him. The second is that once he has removed an effect, or set of effects, he cannot prevent them from being applied again. So if the opponent managed to use the same move successfully twice in succession, there is nothing Samael could do about it except for remove it again, if his attention isn't otherwise occupied.

  • Samyag Vāc: the "Samyag Vac", or "Right Speech", is also a passive ability. It's a special sort of reiatsu, a true silver-tongue. It infuses itself into Samael's speech, and makes his words sound more appealing to your average listener. The more personal he gets with what he's discussing, the more appealing it is to whomever it is he's being so personal with. This isn't mind-control, and it isn't really illusion. It's car-salesman tactic, to the extreme, so to speak. He mixes his own gift for appealing to others, with this ability, and those with weak hearts and minds are easily swayed if he acts in a convincing manner. However, those who are strong of will, sound of mind, and unshakeable in heart will find themselves unaffected by this ability in its entirety.

  • Samyag Karman: This ability, translating roughly to "Right Action", is conceptualized as "acting in a non-harmful way". This is an active ability, and a bit of a sneaky one at that. At will, Samael can make his outputting spiritual energy void itself, so to speak. None of his spiritual attacks will do any damage, his spiritual pressure will have no effect, and his physical attacks and defenses will seem to weaken considerably. This is all a ruse, however. Another tool of manipulation. It is intended for one purpose only, to fool an opponent into believing, foolishly, that they're winning. It gives them hope, so that Samael may then crush it.

  • Samyag Ajīvana: "A non-harmful livelihood" is the description of the "Samyag Ajivana", or "Right Livelihood." This isn't really an ability, per se. It is simply a reminder to Samael that he must mix his work with his enjoyment and satisfaction. This reminder allows him to wind down, have a glass of wine, and relax every once in a while.

  • Samyag Vyāyāma: Samael's "Samyag Vyayama" or "Right Effort", is a passive ability that strengthens the effects of his other Eightfold Branches, based on how involved he is in a battle. If he is barely trying, the abilities will reflect that, and weaken in impact considerably. If he is really giving it his all, the abilities will reflect that as well, and strengthen to their full potential in the blink of an eye.

  • Samyag Smṛti: This ability is more introspective. The "Samyag Smrti", or "Right Mindfulness", is a stabilizing ability. The description of it is the "awareness to see things for what they are with clear consciousness; being aware of the present reality within oneself, without any craving or aversion" What this essentially means, is that Samael will rarely, if ever, be burdened by his past. He cannot fall into grieving, or give in to a vice or an addiction. He cannot give into anger, nor can he become a mindless beast, so long as this ability is active. It keeps his head and his heart clear, and allows him to focus on the tasks at hand, truly.

  • Samyag Samādhi: And finally, one of the most simplistic of the eight, and yet possibly one of the most useful. The "Samyag Samadhi", or "Right Concentration", is described as "correct meditation or concentration". This is an active ability that allows Samael's meditation to do a whole lot more than just what Zen teachings would lead you to believe. When meditating, Samael's fatigue will drain rapidly. While this is impractical to use in a combat situation, it is extremely useful between battles, as Samael can replenish and rest himself before entering into another fight, or into another high-stress situation of any sort.

The Dharmakāya (Sanskrit: धर्म काय; Pali: धम्म कय, lit. "truth body" or "reality body"):

Most higher level demons, and some higher level folk in the hoi polloi in general, will have some form or technique that is crafted specifically to aid in the extension of their life. Moreso, some have ways of preventing death, to an extent, as no one is truly immortal. For most demons who utilize the skill of Death Energy, they can make use of a form of Semi-Immortality simply from the Death Energy itself. Samael, however, has never been versed in this skill. This is, in fact, because he has his own type of semi-immortality. Not only does this list a set of requirements and prerequisites needed to end his life, but it also has a very specific win condition. This provides him with security, and also an alternative way to taunt those he opposes, stating that none of them can kill him. And, in honesty, they usually can't. Unless these win conditions are fulfilled, Samael will simply keep regenerating, as if no damage was done to him at all, no matter the extent of the damage. He also will never age, remaining to appear the same for, basically, ever. The conditions to actually end his existence are as follows:

  • Fatigue: The first step to ending the Dharmakāya is, in fact, the most simple of them all. All one has to do for step one is to tire Samael out, or in other words, exhaust him. Now, this doesn't mean out of breath, or just "tired". This means, primarily, that his resources have to be exhausted. Meaning, he has to be spent, spiritually. He has to be exhausted and fatigued, physically. Along with this, he also needs to be unstable, mentally. (E.G. If he's fighting a losing battle and can't understand it, or if his opponent fights against all odds without any sign of fear or understanding about Samael's true power, that sort of thing.)

  • Stemming the Flow: Step two is a tad more elaborate. Once Samael has been sufficiently fatigued, the opponent(s) must find a way to prevent his spiritual energy from flowing at full strength. Meaning, they have to find a sort of blocker. Think like a drain plug. It has to keep the natural flow from occurring. There are, of course, several ways to do this. First, one could use a seal to prevent his reiatsu from flowing. Or, a Kidō of some sort, if one were to know or create one effective in this area. Second, if one's ability had a reiatsu draining or stemming capability, they could very well use it to meet the requirement of this condition. And third, if one had an item they could place on Samael to limit or seal his spiritual energy, they could use that, as well. And the list goes on. If one can find a way, they can use it for this.

  • Total Immobilization: The third step to ending Samael's being is actually completely restraining his movement. This won't be easy, by any means, as he is a fighter, but it must be done. This can be accomplished by any method necessary. Meaning, if one wanted to use strong ropes, chains, ties, or other such things to restrain him, they could. If one wanted to use a powerful binding Kidō or other spell to restrain him, they could. If one wanted to use weapons to pin limbs of his to the ground, they could. Et cetera. As long as his limbs and torso are kept stationary, then this condition is fulfilled and met, and one can then properly move on to the next step.

  • The Symbol and the Seal: The next step is a tad on the interesting side. Once Samael has been fatigued, had his reiatsu limited or sealed, and bound, one must then use their own weapons to further the process. With any object sharp enough to cut Samael's skin, used by anyone strong enough to get through his natural defenses, one must carve a cross into Samael's torso. Starting at the collarbone, the first line will go down all the way to his waistline. The second line will start where the socket of his left shoulder is, and travel across to his right shoulder. This MUST be done in this order. Up to down, left to right. If it isn't, the cuts will disappear, and one will have to re-try. The same goes for if the cuts go too long (e.g. if someone started at the juggular, or arm. Not too long by a couple inches, like different points on the waist, just too long by a reasonable amount to be considered such.) or if there are any other marks left at this time by the opponent's blade. When this cross is made, it will glow with a bright, eerie red, and begin to flash in time with Samael's heartbeat. The beating will grow faster, and louder, until there is a high pitched screeching noise that tears the air asunder. When the scream dissipates, one might notice that Samael's spiritual signature is gone completely. At this point, it is completely sealed within Samael's own self, unable for him to use, for the remainder of the thread. Whether or not the opponent finishes the process.

  • The Two Vitals: The penultimate step in this process is one that might bring some form of vindication to those who have been fighting Samael. Once he is bound, and sealed, this becomes a lot easier, as his spiritual defenses will be mostly, if not completely, gone from the sealing process. At this point, the opponent simply has to stab Samael twice. Once, directly in the center of the forehead, and once in the chest, right over the heart (the wound should occur in the center of the cross that was made. Whatever weapon is used to make these wounds MUST stay in place during this step and the final step in the process. Meaning, basically, that opponents with only one weapon at their disposal must find another way to make the second wound. Whether it be using Hakuda, or another sort of technique. As long as it can do stabbing-type damage, it's sufficient to fulfill this requirement.

  • "And The Meek Shall Inherit The Earth": The final step makes the whole process.. complex, somewhat. It basically means that Samael cannot be killed by one singular opponent. This step is a paradox in itself. It takes someone of a large strength to truly combat him at full strength. Given all of his millennium of experience, and his multiple combat qualifications, one might find it nigh impossible to fight him effectively if one isn't powerful. However, the paradox lies in the fact that once one has gotten to this step, only a WEAK opponent can kill him, and end it once and for all. Weak, meaning an opponent who's tier is at or under the level of 2-1. When such a person is in the area at this critical point of the process, they simply need to sever Samael's neck entirely with any sharp, blade-type weapon or object, which they will find exceedingly easy at this point and time with his defenses so low. When this is done, the process will be complete. Samael will be removed from existence, and the process of ending his defense will be complete. Now, no one said it would be completely easy. Samael still has tricks up his sleeve, to be sure, and at this stage, it's even more apparent, as even though he's bound, sealed, and by all accounts should already be dead, as long as he is able, he will fight to convince those around him not to carry out the final step of the process. Whether it be targeting the emotional, mental, or what have you. He will do all that he can.

Now, one might wonder how anyone could discover any of this process, as it would most likely be too elaborate for simple guesswork. There is a way to find out the steps, but they're not as simple as just reading a file of his, or searching for information in an archive somewhere. If one has an ear in Demon World, or any sort of presence there (be it a spy, a bug, or even themselves if they're allied, or a double agent of some sort ) one can learn quite easily that Samael has Six Trustees. People who he's entrusted each with ONE step of the process. These trustees were chosen personally by him, and are as follows:

  • 1.) Schrodinger Yuudeshi - "Fatigue"
  • 2.) Reigen Akogi - "Stemming the Flow"
  • 3.) Edward Elric - "Total Immobilization"
  • 4.) Cupcake - "The Symbol and the Seal"
  • 5.) Dragon Slayer - "The Two Vitals"
  • 6.) Mana Asthavon - "And the Meek Shall Inherit the Earth"

Each one of these six knows one piece, and the place in the process it goes. Meaning, anyone who wants to use this process on Samael must first go through these six, learning each piece of the puzzle along the way.

Part Two: The Myths Behind the Legend (Cont.)
____________________________________________________

Death's Energy
____________________________________________________

Death's Energy Traits: Samael has full usage and prowess with the Death Energy traits present in this thread. WITH THE EXCEPTION, of course, of Semi-Immortality, as he has his own variant of that. (See: The Dharmakāya)

Death's Energy Class: [To Be Decided by Frost]

Death's Energy Powers:

Spiritual Rot:

The first ability that Samael can utilize with his death's energy is a more interpersonal one, and one that, at first, might seem a bit on the quixotic side. Within his Death Energy field, the reiatsu that Samael himself puts out will start to decay and rot, collapsing in on itself and essentially disappearing from existence as it ceases to be present in the world. This, however, is not the case, and is mostly just for show, as a purely cosmetic effect of this ability.

In reality, what Samael does with this ability is recycle his reiatsu. When materialized in the outside world, Samael can dismantle and dissolve it, returning it to his own being and being able to use it later. This may seem pointless, at first, as he would be able to use it anyway from an ability standpoint. However, as with anything, there is a method to the madness.

One useful trait of this is for if Samael has already loosed an ability of his own. As simple as it is to use said ability, it is just as simple for him to dismantle it entirely, returning the energy that it contained into himself. This can be used for one of two purposes: 1.) To trick the enemy into believing that they are strong enough for Samael's attacks to dissolve before said attacks reach them, or 2.) To psych the opponent out, making them think an attack is going to come from one direction, when in reality it's simply to grab their attention as he plans another attack entirely.

The other useful trait of this ability is if he is facing opponents such as Quincy, or others who take spiritual energy and use it as a weapon. If Samael's spiritual energy is used against him, or used to fuel an attack, he can simply dissolve his spiritual energy, taking it back for himself, and removing whatever strength it added to the ability it was used to fuel. This is moreso for personal security than anything, as his sense of higher-being makes it shameful in his eyes for him to ever allow his own power to be used against him.

An Acidic Touch:

The Corrupted Defense:

The Void:

The Arhat: A True Ascension
____________________________________________________

Forgoing the Demon normalcy of having a multitude of forms and transformations, Samael has, instead, devoted all of his time, energy, and effort into the use of one form. Over his many millennia of existence, he has worked primarily, if not exclusively, on making sure that this transformation of his is the "end all, be all" of his true power. This is a form that he only uses in moments of true desperation, as his normal self-assured attitude will swear up and down that he can best any opponent without even needing to enter a form. Sometimes, though, the need arises to enter this state. Samael will do this for one of two reasons. 1.) His opponent knows of his weaknesses, and is on the verge of besting Samael. Or 2.) His opponent has proven to be his combat equal, or has offended him in some great manner, in which case Samael will use this form for the sake of utterly annihilating their very existence from the face of creation. He will refer to this form simply as "Mokushiroku" (lit. "The Apocalypse"), as he truly believes himself capable of ending most existence within this form.

To enter this form, Samael has to have sufficient cause to do so. He cannot do so for the fun of it, nor can he do so for entertainment, or for any variation that would fall under the blanket header of "just for fun". He has to have a probable cause, so to speak, before he will be able to transform. Not only this, but he must also have had sufficient time (roughly fifteen posts) to passively gather enough reishi from the surrounding area to properly support the energy needed to release this form. However, this wait time can be accelerated and cut down if Samael is hit with an attack with enough reishi and reiatsu power within to give a jumpstart, of sorts. It's almost like jumping a vehicle. Put enough power into it, and once the sparks fly, bam, it's up and running.

The "ritual" of sorts for entering this form begins with Samael summoning his blade. Once he's done so, he spins it around, so that the sharp end is parallel to his arm, and facing his own body. Raising his arm until it is horizonal with the ground, Samael will slowly start moving his arm forward, until his blade touches his body. At this point, Samael will shove his arm forward violently, creating a large gash from one shoulder-blade to the other shoulder-blade on Samael's back. Once he does this, the blade will once again evaporate, and a pair of red angel-type wings, created solely from Samael's blood and reiatsu, will sprout from his back. While these wings are out, he is unable to use any of his offensive maneuvers whatsoever. He can dodge, block, or what have you, but he is unable to attack. While in this state, Samael must recite a chant, line by line, with each line in a separate post. If he says more than one line in a single post, the entire process will unravel, and he will have to start from square one. However, the lines do not have to be in succession. He can say one, talk to his allies or opponents, and then say the next line in a following post. So long as all are said, the conditions for them are lax. The chant goes as follows:

"Et ego pastor erit..
Mi, creatorem tuum..
Potestatem dedit fructum descendit de manu tua..
Pedibus meis, utque celer explere mandata tua...
Sic fluent fluvius egrediebatur ad te
Animas et turgens est semper..
In nomine meo princeps conditor Deus..."

One he has finished this chant (7 posts worth of dialogue, roughly), the blood-wings will straighten, and a burst of air and energy will radiate in a sphere from Samael with intent to shove anyone near him away. After this, the wings will wrap around him, cocooning him in blood as his spiritual energy flares up to its fullest extent, trapped within the cocoon as it begins beating, much like a heart would. After three beats, the energy flares so brightly that even sealed inside the cocoon, it is blinding to most outside of the capsule. When this flare occurs, the cocoon will begin twisting, morphing, and cracking violently, in ways no being should be able to withstand, before expanding exponentially, to the size of a large house. Once the expansion is complete, there is dead silence for but a moment.. until the heartbeat sound is once again heard. Except, this time, it is much louder. More prominent. It is deeper in tone, as a heavy object colliding with brute force into the ground would be, and slower as well now. After exactly five beats, the blood will begin to evaporate into the air, singing, burning, and crumpling into ash, as burnt paper would, leaving behind a dense cloud of smoke. From out of this haze..

Samael's true self will emerge..

The Appearance of the Evolved:

The main thing that changes about Samael, one would notice almost immediately, is his stature. Before, Samael was tall, sure. Leaned, and toned, definitely. However, upon entering the Arhat, his former stature is put to shame on an insane degree. Not only does he gain a full two feet in height, now standing at a towering nine feet and one-half inches, he also gains a considerable amount of musculature and body mass, his entire form seemingly made entirely of muscle at this point. His shoulders have broadened, his entire body has widened, and his legs and arms have grown in circumference and length considerably. Another odd effect to his form is his skin, which has gone from its usual color to a dark, almost charcoal grey color that covers his whole body.

I rage because of the heart.
