Looking for trouble Empty Looking for trouble

Eerie silence filled the area, no signs of life could be seen, it had looked like as if something had happened here but what it was Yoma held no idea. The city seemed to be in ruins, lacking in energy or spirit the world continued to be lost in a plague of darkness. The entire place gave off a dark and horrid feeling causing Yoma’s very soul to feel some type of pain. Yoma chose to come here for what reason? He arrived just curious of the location and the events that had happened here, wishing to learn more and break free from ignorance.

“Why? Why does this place give off a bad feeling what happened here?”

Yoma pondered as he moved around examination area to area looking for anything, a sign saying that someone is here. He didn’t like the feeling he got but also the feeling to be careful. Yoma knew it would be stupid but he decided to attract attention to himself. He started grabbing small pieces of rubble and tossing them with a small charge creating small little explosions but loud booms as if a set of fire crackers were going on.

Yoma knew he needed to open his mind to the ignorance that dwelled in him, That's why he was here. To learn and grow, obtain an experience only he can obtain. As yoma continued making noise being careful where he threw his small explosions. Yoma focused on what he would do if he encountered something. He no longer had a zanpakuto so all he had was his shunpo, kido, and basic abilities to rely on. So he had to figure out how to use these to their full extent in combat. He wanted to find the proper way to fight and use his power the only way to do this was through experience.

Yoma could feel the rumblings within his body. He knew this was a message from someone. His other half was warning him to be careful. Yoma had met someone he wanted to protect but for that he need strength. Which was one of the two reasons he was here to obtain experience and to obtain the strength someone achieve their dreams and goals. He was ready to face what came his way but he was starting to get a little bored he had been continuously making noise yet attracted nothing he didnt know if this was a good thing or not.

“Aww come on out someone, anyone or anything. If not that means coming here was pointless.”

Yoma gave a loud shout with his hands on his head messing up his hair.

Artist: Yoko Shimomura - Song: Fate of the Unknown - Word Count: 1,350

Where the hell was he? How the hell had he got here? These were just a few of many jumbled up questions floating inside of the Hero of Honor's head as he walked through the ransacked streets of Tampa in what could only be called a hellscape. Everything was destroyed, buildings in such an advance state of decay that one would wonder just how long this city had been abandoned, and streets crumbling away to reveal sand and dirt underneath. Steiner had seen a few places like this before in the Wastelands where he frequently trained and fought as a hero. This is what it felt like in a place that had seen its fair share of blood shed, oddly enough in most of those desolated areas he had fought in there were plenty of skeletons, but here there was nothing. No bodies, no signs of life, and the only sound around him was the sound of a light rain landing on the destroyed roads and abandoned buildings. "Just where the hell are all the people?", Steiner murmured as he paused in front of a store front with a shattered window, the contents just as abandoned as the city he was in.

He looked around a bit more, his mind in a state of confusion as to how he had even arrived here, let alone how this place had gotten so torn up in the first place. Yet there was no blood, no actual sign of combat outside of the buildings, and that worried Steiner a great deal more than the feeling of dread he was feeling from all around himself. There was an ominous feeling coming from all around him, it was almost like he was being watched by something that was just outside of his range of sight, and his body felt tense because he himself was on edge. One moment he had been in a warm bed in the woods in Vastime and the next minute he was in the middle of a city that looked like it had seen its' fair share of conflict. Yet even that was questionable as he couldn't tell if the city looked this way from neglect or from all out battle due to there being no actual signs of combat around that were visible to his eyes. "Still should be on guard...yelling out for people may not be the best option right now.", Steiner said to himself remembering all of the things Mirja had taught him in his short period of time as her pupil.

He wanted to prove his worth to her in any way that he could and he also didn't want to disappoint her either, but most importantly he wanted to show that he was a quick learner. His thought process was interrupted as a skittering noise drew attention to a nearby alleyway. Steiner immediately reached for his sword which was at his hip and began to march toward the sound of the noise with silent focus and poise. As he marched down the alleyway he noticed that the skittering had stopped, but in its' place he began to hear the sound of something crunching, and making sickening noises. Steiner continued to trek closer, drawing his blade from the sheathe, and making sure to keep his stance tight as he neared the location of the noise. It didn't take long for the young man to find himself in the presence of a true horror that he had not expected to see in any town or ever really. A semi-naked being crouched over the body of what looked like a young child, ripping into it with reckless abandonment and devouring its' flesh.

The child had long since died, but the being continued to munch on the flesh, and even disregarded the young hero's presence as it continued to devour its' prey. Steiner's eyes were wide with horror, but the man observed his target for weak points almost immediately. It appeared to be almost human, its body mostly skin and bone with a few sharp bone shards piercing the skin to form some kind of weapons that Steiner couldn't evaluate as effective or not. The creature seemed to be going through stages of being malnourished and that more than likely would make it an easy target to fight against. Steiner couldn't allow this kid's body to be desecrated even further and so began to make his steps forward toward the beast. But in the act of being angered by the sight before him and sizing up his opponent, Steiner had forgotten about his footing which in a rather quick way caused him to kick a small pebble forward. The reaction was almost instant, the being stopping its gorging to turn around, and face him in a matter of seconds.

Eyes sunken in, mouth barely hanging on, and a pair of mandible claws hanging from its mouth the face of a young woman grotesquely warped into some kind of monstrosity stared at him with hunger in its' eyes. The creature didn't waste time, running on all fours like some kind of dog revealing that the limbs had become jointed in all the wrong ways. Steiner jumped back, using his instincts more so than his tactical thinking to move away from the creature as it smashed its own face into the asphalt in front of him launching debris in different directions as it did so. Just what the hell is going on in this city!? Stein thought to himself as more skittering from all around him announced his earlier suspicions correctness. He was being watched and not by friendly eyes either. Steiner's eyes jumped around counting internally the amount of beasts crawling away along the walls. No, not beasts...people. These things at one point or another had been just as human as he was now, but now they were mutating, transforming into weird beasts with no identification as to what they had been before. Several of these creatures had evolved into hideous grotesque masses that found themselves rolling closer to him, others had become creature much like the one the young woman was becoming, a dog like insect like monster, and other seemed to watch from afar. The one's from afar were the most jarring to them, they had reached some kind of hideous mutation making them slightly more than a skeleton with wings. They were hideous as the bones of these beasts had mutated to serve some purpose or another and didn't even look human anymore.

He, however, did not have time to gawk in confusion at these beasts. He needed to escape and plan a way to fight these monsters, Stein didn't hesitate as he ran as far back as he could, dodging, and weaving his way through attacking monsters. Some ripped his jacket, while other's drew glancing blows causing either bruises or small scratches that bled a bit. Running into what looked like a small building with an un-busted window facing a nearby street, Stein picked up a stone with his still open hand and threw it at the window, shattering it. He dove through, rolling to his feet quickly only to come face to face with a familiar face. "Oh god...Yoma!?", Steiner shouted a bit at the red haired shinigami in front of him, looking back into the store, and seeing that a few of the beasts had followed him. The night air began to be filled by weird howling and hissing which sounded off to Steiner that more than likely that the whole city was now inhabited by weird monsters like the one's he had seen. "No time to talk...roast the things coming from the store! We need to find a safe place to plan a course of action!", he shouted pointing back from where he came as he took a few steps back and got into a fighting stance. He was relying on Yoma, something he didn't think he would ever do, but as of right now he didn't have a choice. He needed all the help he could get.

Looking for trouble Empty Re: Looking for trouble

Crack, Crack Crack, boom. That was all yoma heard continuously as repeated the same action over and over endlessly hoping to find some sort of sign of life. The singed dust the rocks blew back with the wind slightly dirtied yoma little by little. The fact of being dirty to this yoma didn’t matter as he was confused to events going on in the area and wanted to know more. A little dirt and grime meant nothing if he could help someone out here in an already destroyed area. As he continued to walk he could feel a rush of thoughts hit him. He didn’t expect his mind to start wandering together losing his focus. He trembled a bit as the words and thoughts harsh pierced into him. Words that challenged his new found sense of direction he had so recently acquired.

Could he become good enough to prove his worth to the world? Was he able to become stronger or would he remain weak forever? Was he even worthy to even try to protect someone he met and knew so little about?

These words made yoma completely halt in his steps he started to wonder if he should just give up here and do something else. Yet the words that flowed into his mind wouldn't stop. Words that challenged him more and more kept forming, increasing his self doubt. What came next was the voice he didn't expect to hear.

So are you deciding to quit already after all the help you received? Cowering over words you have pulled from your own conscience? Don’t make me laugh over your bullshit. That is if you really don’t care about the lives of others they can all die here.

Yoma was surprised his other self’s words were almost motivational. He knew his other self was harsh but knew that they both needed to keep moving in their own ways if they wanted to survive. Due to both their faults they had lost a part of themselves. Yoma laughed as he knew he didn't have to pin the blame on himself. He then wondered how long he had just been standing there in the same spot.

Quickly, as he regained himself a young male comes crashing through a window broken window that had been broken earlier. The man seemed to be aware of his actions and how to move his body. Yet yoma could hear the man state in disgust the phrase “oh god....yoma”. Yoma grew curious if he had met the man before and the energy that flowed off the man had not seem familiar so yoma guessed that may have met at one point but not himself exactly. Yet, as quickly as the man appeared he had shouted for yoma to act. Caines like beasts with a monstrous appearance and with insect like features quickly approached them. Yoma quickly pulled out a few rocks on the pouch on his side and pulled out some rocks. Quickly he threw the rocks in the direction of the beasts and had them explode into a cloud of dust. Then at a quick snap of his fingers he lit the cloud of dust ablaze with his power being careful to not the let the flames touch the male who had asked for his help. The male had told them that they needed to find a safe place so yoma quickly grabbed the male and flash stepped a small distance back from where he came from.

He guessed he would be safe back here as he found nothing here before and entered one of the buildings by heating the lock and causing it to bend so he can get inside and at least close the door back.

“Hey are you alright? You appear to be a mess” Yoma commented as he saw the man’s torn and beat up jacket. “So i hate to ask this out of the blue but do you know anything that's going on? I'm confused. This whole place seems to have gone quiet. Oh before i forget my name is Yoma Yazaki, but from the way of things you know that. So who are you? And why are you here?”

Yoma knew he had to be careful with the man, he seemed to have a distaste for him so he had to at least be polite. “The beasts shouldn’t follow us as i have sorta charred up the whole area up to the point where we met so if they do have a good nose that dust and flame exposition should throw off their senses. Hopefully.” Yoma’s words were focused but they held little confidence. Even he knew that if the beasts survived he had no idea what their status were and how many more were around. All he could hope for is that the smell of burning flames would confuse them some what and mask their scent.

He knew he couldn't expect much from the other person but the least he could do is help them and right the wrong his other self had done. Yoma felt strange as if something in the area was watching him. Looking around the room he saw nothing and relaxed a bit. Keeping himself ready to release his flames yoma decided to ask the man before another question.

“Any idea what course of action we should take now? There is no one in this town it seems except those monsters, where they came from i have no idea. Should we fight and move forwards? Or shall we just give up and run?”

Once again Yoma felt the eyes of something on him but he had no idea what is was. He knew it must be bad news if he kept feeling it over and over. He guess it was another monster. Deciding to release a wave of heat quickly to push anything back. Yoma knew why he had felt another set of eyes on him the house they were in had small insect like creatures hiding in the furniture and even in the cracks in the walls. When he pushed everything back with a wave of heat he had revealed a thousand of the cockroach like creatures. They held the ability to combine together and form a singular being made of a thousand of these things. Seemly being able to multiply in seconds. Yoma released his flames but seemly it didn't have much of an effect. The area that had been burnt was only replaced by more of the creatures yet the creatures that had been destroyed became something of a gel like acid melting what it came in contact with.

“First the monster beasts and now this, any ideas?”
