» Personality:

Typically, Jessie is someone that keeps to herself and almost never bothers anyone. She just wants to be left alone, unless you have some sort of business with her then by all means. She runs a pretty successful gunsmithing business so she's no stranger to larger crowds, and handles the social aspect quite well. However, just because she can doesn't mean she likes to. The woman will go out of her way to offer a smile and be kind during her hours of work. While not exactly rude during her time off, it is her time off, so she would rather avoid and ignore and do the shit she likes: drink, smoke, sleep, fuck, clean her guns, and target shoot.

With the shitty state of the world, she doesn't really hold any one particular race responsible. The woman doesn't really care for any of them, not even the Quincy. For sure she doesn't trust a single one of the organizations. However she isn't stupid and she knows danger when she sees it. Jessie has become a bit more open to talks and negotiations during the last few years. Essentially she is willing to offer her assistance and loyalty to the organization that guarantees her security and that of her business. Of course, a little help in making her stronger so she can look after her own shit isn't bad either.

The woman doesn't care if she ends up aligning with the Gotei or Shadow Fall, the Vanguard, or heck, even Hueco Mundo. In the end, she has a business to run, and she's not quite immortal. She has learned that she has to look after herself as such has created a somewhat selfish view of the world. No one really cares about anything but their own problems, which is fair. It just means she has to look out for her best interests since no one else will.


III. Character History


» History

The woman was born in Arizona in the 1860s. It was a rough time for both men and women, but the brutality of it all would come to be of service in the years to come. Both her parents were pretty regular folk. They made just enough money to survive and raise a child, and not much more. Despite being a bit disheartened when they found out it was a girl and not a boy, her parents loved her dearly. Jessie's mom worked at a local cantina, and her father was a renowned gunsmith. During that time, it seemed like people were obsessed with money, much more than her parents thought they ought. It was almost as if they foresaw the troubling times that were to come in just a few decades. Granted it likely had to do with human nature, and the rush that power created, whether it was in battle or through economic affluence.

From an early age, Jessie seemed to take a liking more to things the boys did, than those she was expected to partake in. Dolls and dresses never quite fit her fancy. On the other hand she had a fascination for mechanical devices, specially guns. Before she was 10 she had already learned how to clean and fully disassemble just about every revolver and rifle commonly known at the time. In due time she would join her father in his gunsmithing business, and helped bring more customers and revenue for the family.

Things started to take a weird turn around the age of 12 or so. Jessie began seeing shadows and silhouettes no one else could really see. Eventually the fine lines changed into fully visible forms, most of which were large, menacing, and grotesque. Occasionally she would see total strangers in odd oriental outfits, but typically they were monsters that she’d hear howling in the distance. The girl had long given up on mentioning it to her parents or her neighbors. As soon as she noticed she was the only to see it, she figured out it was best to keep quiet. Otherwise she would be taken away from her family and imprisoned under the assumption of dementia or worse.

The situation just kept getting worse and worse as the months went by. Gunshots didn’t seem to harm them. Even when she used the heavier and larger bullets, the monsters would seem unflinched by it. She had been lucky that most times they had either left, perhaps for a tastier treat, or been driven off by one of the odd looking fellas in black dresses. At one point however, the number of monsters in her vicinity and the frequency had driven her on edge. Something about her or in her area kept drawing them in, and she didn’t know how to stop it or how to deal with them… until he appeared.

An old man with a gray beard and wrinkly face had been hired as the sheriff of the town. The last sheriff had been killed by what most believed had been criminal activity. However Jessie knew that the area was rather safe from criminals aside from the monstrous beasts. One day, when she was out delivering a gun she had helped her father fix, Jessie saw the Sheriff battling and taking down about three monsters he called Hollow. He was able to manifest a rifle into his hands that resembled a Winchester lever rifle. Some of the bullets however were rather odd in the sense that they produced a bright blue light. Others had some other extraordinary effects she couldn’t really describe or explain even if she tried.

The man explained to her that she was a Quincy, just like he was. He told her about their powers, the beings that existed in the world, and the means they had to protect themselves and others. The Sheriff’s name was John Marston. In her spare time, he taught her how to understand what she was a little more. Her father was simply told she was tending to his weapons, which was true in part, and Mr. Marston did pay. He gave her a Quincy cross and taught her the basics on how to use it. He explained that most Quincy relied on ranged weapons though that wasn’t always the case. Typically those of European and Oriental origin preferred the bow, though she didn’t have to do as they did. Marston for instance, preferred the rifle.
During the next few years the girl would work and train non stop. She devoted a large part of her day at the gunsmithing shop tending to her father’s workshop. The rest of her day was spent learning from the Sheriff and getting used to her power. She was most comfortable with revolvers, and that was the form her spirit weapon took. Initially it was odd and blue, but with the years it had finally started to look like the real thing. She had even managed to kill her first Hollow with it before she turned 16.

As she neared adulthood however, John warned her of the impending dangers. Her power was growing, and her energy was becoming far too noticeably to be in the same area as his. If she stayed she was likely to keep drawing larger numbers of Hollow to the area and place her parent’s live at risk, and that of others. Marston believed he was capable of tending to the town on his own, but that it was in her best interest to continue her live somewhere else; she needed to expand her horizons. A place where a larger number of spiritual beings resided would give her enough of a buffer to avoid being targeted most of the time or those around her. It would also allow her to potentially meet others like her, and continue to grow stronger.

In the end, she saw it as the right thing to do. She would have some more independence and privacy, plus it kept her family safe. Jessie was never concerned with being the strongest or the wealthiest out there. There was far too many people with the same goal, killing each other off constantly for that same singular purpose; not her. She was happy with getting a little better at combat, and learning a bit more about her skills everyday. The woman was delighted to open up her own gunsmithing shop in the southernmost areas of the United States, where it would last for hundreds of years, more or less.

Time had gone by far faster than she could have anticipated. She remembered once when minutes took forever, and now a century seemed as though it had only happened about a day or two ago. Her gunsmithing shop was still open and active. People still came in regularly wanting to have their weapons fixed or tuned to be better. Granted it wasn’t revolvers and lever rifles anymore. People came in with semi auto handguns, fully automatic rifles, grenade launchers, light machine guns, and so on. Honestly, she couldn’t really blame them. The last centuries had seen an upheaval in the spiritual world with countless of powerful beings taking over the order of things. In the end people had to try and defend themselves as best they could. A gun wouldn’t help any of them against a Demon or a Shinigami, but if it helped them feel more secure, at least it was a step forward.

It was around that time that the world around her was forced further into her life whether she liked it or not. During one violent encounter against a demon, she had lost her left arm from the elbow down. It was her skill and with the help and favor of others that she was able to craft a sort of replacement metal arm for her. It wasn’t as sightly as the real deal but it allowed her to function normally. Without any real true Quincy to guide her or teach her besides the basics she had learned from Marston many years ago, Jessie took her own twist on the Quincy powers. It made her unorthodox and formidable in her own ways, but likely very different and perhaps not as powerful as the fancy boys in white outfits. Essentially she learned how to create a sort of ginto bullet to use on her revolver, as well as condense and harness the reishi into small cylindrical tubes to use as a form of concussion grenades.

Jessie had learned how to control her energy a bit better as to not be a glowing beacon. She was known largely for her skill fixing guns, as well as her skill being able to make rather amazing trick shots with her revolver. She had purposely tried her best to stay away from groups like the Wandenreich, Shadowfall, the Vanguard, Hueco Mundo, or the Gotei. She had never been interesting in pledging allegiance to anything or anyone but herself. And while she had no intentions to enlist anywhere, the ever expanding growth of the different factions meant that sooner or later she would have to side with someone to stand a chance to survive along with her business. Everyone she knew was long dead. Jessie wasn’t a bad woman, but bad and evil were interpretations in the end. Both Shadowfall and the Gotei were evil from a certain point of view. Being a Quincy didn’t really make her more likely to join her kind. After all, her skills were unique and likely somewhat poor and unrefined compared to the elitist. In the end, Jessie would end up with that whom presented the best deal or offered the best bargain that guaranteed her safety, and the means to thrive in a fucked up world… somewhere she could grow stronger to fight another day.

IV. Equipment


» Equipment:

Quincy Cross: Originally gifted by Mr. Marston as a form of bracelet. Since then, the cross has been built into her left metal arm, so that it is with her at all times.

Quincy Bangle: The artifact that was given to weaker Quincy or those starting off. It allows them to absorb energy better and overall be a bit stronger than they typically would be without it. The bangle has been built into her left metal arm.

Reishi Grenades: These grenades don’t look like the typical ones seen in modern warfare, as that was the intended purpose. Jessie wanted to create something that while useful in combat, did not seem as intimidating to be carrying about; she has a business to run after all. The grenades look like cylindrical metal containers, made from a soul synthesized silver and some other mineral. They house condensed reishi inside that when tossed, and at her command, explodes in a strong wave of destructive reishi. The concussive force is enough to break through several feet of concrete and shatter human sized boulders. However, given the unusual and cumbersome shape they possess, Jessie is only able to carry a maximum of five grenades at a time to avoid looking like a walking dispenser.

Ginto Bullets: This is nothing really special but rather something to make her life a little easier. The ginto tubes that are considered archaic by most Quincy are actual put to great use with her. She grinded and smoothed out the tubes in her workshop, essentially making them look like a bullet. They’re rimmed and have a sort of bottleneck look towards the tip. It allows her to load up to six of them at a time into the cylinder of her revolver for their specific effects. After all, she can fire further and more accurately than she can throw them.

.44 Magnum Rounds: The go to for all sorts of non-spiritually powerful or mildly sensitive beings. The bullets are big, thick, and heavy, and known for having great power against ordinary creatures. Jessie usually uses them to target shoot or dispatch the fodder. Although they can prove to be difficult to shoot for most people given their massive recoil, she's able to shoot them with extreme ease.


V. Natural Abilities & Skills


» Skills:

Avid Shooter: Shooting is one of the two things [the other being working on guns], that Jessie has done the most. She has shot from afar, she has shot from up close; she has done it almost all. The girl has won countless prizes throughout the years in shooting tournaments. From clay pigeon shooting, to make belief zombie tournaments. Jessie is able to hit moving targets with incredible ease, and the amusing popularity of her trick shots have earned her a following as well.

Hirenkyaku: The girl is noticeable agile, being rather speedy and nimble for her form. She’s hardly anywhere close to being the fastest person she’s met, but the woman certainly surprises most. From the early days she learned its best to shoot from cover, or get somewhere the enemy has more difficulty killing you. As such she’s often seen darting all over the place, running quickly from side to, spiralling up or crashing down while shooting her revolver.

Mechanical Inclination: Although she kind of sucks with computer, the girl is amazing with what she considers more natural mechanical designs… If a gun exists, she likely knows how it works, how to clean it, and how to disassemble it. Her passion doesn’t extend to just guns however. She’s known to tinker with clocks, cars, motorcycles, and the sort.

Mean Left Hook: When she had her left arm replaced with the metal bionic one, she thought it would be a handicap. And while it was as far as being aesthetically different, it did come with some extra bonuses. Her grip on her left hand is much stronger than that on her right. The strength of her blows from her bionic arm are also considerably more powerful as well. And of course, getting hit or cut on the metal arm doesn’t really cause her any pain as it would on her right one.

VI. Quincy Skills & Abilities


» Quincy Skills:

Blut: Jessie found out about the basics of the types of Blut from John. While he taught her the most basic things about it, she learned the brunt of it on her own. It isn’t something that is highly specialized, but she has become efficient in it enough to use when the situation demands it. Whether it be its defensive or offensive form, she has been able to use the former to enhance the toughness of her skin, or the latter to increase the power of her shots. Of course, though she’s lacked the guidance to truly measure out where she’s at, she knows she still needs to learn a lot more to see the true benefit and potential from the ability.

Healing: The very last technique the woman was able to produce, her healing is tied somewhat closely to her Blut. It acts from within her body, connecting vessels and veins, and capillaries to the injured areas. In essence it allows her to heal a bit faster than others, though it cannot be compared to the high speed regeneration other races enjoy. There’s reason to believe she could improve on the technique if she becomes stronger, but for the time being it is somewhat limited. Although bruises and scratches heal extremely fast, cuts, even the smaller ones can take up to an extra post to heal. Larger cuts or noticeably trauma can take up to three posts to heal. And very serious injuries or open wounds can easily take up to five posts before they heal.

Reishi Bandana: With great power comes great responsibility, and with great poverty comes great need. There are times when Jessie has found herself unable to resist the temptations of a full bank or a delivery of expensive goods. Though not a common occurrence, she's not beyond stealing for the common good: she's the common good. To avoid being caught however she created a technique which manifests as a light blue bandana created out of reishi. It covers her face from the nose down, making it difficult for others to recognize her appearance thereafter. It also looks pretty badass.

Ginto: Ginto is essentially liquid reishi that is placed into small capsules to aid the Quincy in combat. For many years they have been seen as archaic and largely useless. They require far too many for truly powerful effects, and real Quincy are able to create large scale techniques of cataclysmic effects with only the reishi in their surrounding. However for normal people like Jessie, ginto are a godsend. After she learned how to improve on the capsule design to shape them into bullets, they became an integral portion of her arsenal. There are always six ginto bullets loaded on the cylinder of her revolver, though she keeps a couple of pouches with several rounds for a peace of mind.

Ginto Techniques

Size Matters: By firing one ginto, Jessie is able to enlarge it at will. The bullet will grow from its typical small size to be just as large as she is. The power of the bullet and the speed remain unchanged. The only thing that changes is its size. The effect can only be done once, so the bullet cannot be shrunken down once more after being enlarged.

Equilateral: When three ginto shots are fired at once, the woman is able to affect them so that they’re connected by bright blue reishi to form a sort of triangle. The size of the triangle is entirely dependent on how far she fires each shot from each other. Thought for the sake of time, the space between the triangle cannot exceed that of 20 meters. The inside is built like a net, as the technique is meant to try and snare the foe. If the opponent is touched by the triangle it will try to converge and wrap around the target to try and restrict the movement of the limb or area it hit. Of course, simply having more energy than her in the form of a higher tier will allow the opponent to free themselves with ease.

Trapper: Jessie will try to fire at a surface, like the ground, in an effort to make some sort of figure. It could be a circle, or a square, a rectangle, or even a pentagram. The idea was to make something similar to the attack the Quincy create with five of their seele; the Sprenger. Jessie only knew of the technique, but she didn’t know how to make it or the power necessary to do so effectively. Of course, her ginto version is nowhere near the power of a Sprenger, but it is still dangerous. The space within the figure she shoots would light up into the sky and blow up anything in its vicinity. The power of the technique is based on the complexity of the figure surrounding the opponent. For instance, a pentagram, which has five sides would be much more powerful than a triangle, which only has three. Unfortunately creating more difficult figures requires firing more ginto and trying to reload thereafter. Still, though the power pales in comparison to the Sprenger, it needs to be approached with caution.

Flame Round: When a ginto round is fired, Jessie can cause to implode on itself in mid air, releasing a burst of its blue reishi inside in a form of flame. The flame has the effect of obscuring sight. It also has a bit of a concussive effect, though it only manifests itself in the form of a push. Being a flame, it's capable of burning, and the heat emanating from it it's easily noticeable. The span of the flame is that of a foot if using only one ginto bullet, up to a maximum of six feet if using six ginto shots.

Regular Ginto Shots: Each ginto bullet is much more powerful than a single of her reishi bullets. They travel faster and hit harder too. Of course, unlike her reishi bullets which she can fire almost non stop, Jessie is limited to six ginto bullets before she has to eject the casings, and load the cylinder again with the highly concentrated ginto bullets.

» Spirit Weapon Abilities: Besides from being to fire her custom ginto, the spirit gun give a sort of oomph to the spirit bullets [the arrows for most other Quincy]. They don’t increase in power at all, but they travel just a tad bit faster than the arrows that would be fired from a bow. Essentially it makes the shots travel a bit faster than normal.
