Yaksha, The Überseele

Yaksha's fury continued to roll off in palpable waves, as many of his hairs returning to him as possible once the opponent made their move; the sword was hardly a small target, and Yaksha's ability account for and adjust in the face of very sudden changes was well known. He brought them towards himself, slamming into the ground around him in a manner like spider's legs, and causing him to rise further into the air, his wings spreading outwards as he folded his hands over his chest. He waited, with the poisonous patience of a snake waiting to see if someone they had warned off would enter their strike range, or leave.

Taptaptap. Yaksha's clawed fingers began to click and gently touch against the chitin covering his form. He watched with that quiet malice as the creature stepped out from a portal to a realm that he was beginning to grow sneakingly certain he knew the location of. He quietly squashed the reaction of revulsion and disgust that his very instinctual DNA screamed at him, at the sight of another demon using hollows as his plaything. He listened intently, letting that horrid demeanor hiding behind an urbane voice speak its poison.

Taptaptaptaptap. His wings twitched and flexed here and there, his body seeming to elongate and warp in places, looking like a wax mannequin left a little too close to the heat. As his fingers continued to press against his hip, that surface alone seemed to remain solid as the rest of him began to run and blur, white and red mixing into something that looked like it belonged in a horror film, or some horrid nightmare of time immemorable. His head had sank into some horrid blob that had no discernable anatomy, except for that one fucking clawed hand, tapping away at a single solid ridge of bone. As the mass of hollows feeding upon one another seemed to turn into a pool of tar, Yaksha himself looked as if he were reverting to little more than wax.

TAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAP No longer did the sound seem to be coming from the fingers, or any single portion of Yaksha. It was as if every single cell making up his body was vibrating at some frequency, or creating the sound of something desperately, patiently, calmly insisting to be let out. There was no force or passion behind that tapping sound, just a sense akin to a low-grade irritation that was not going to go away on its own. An itch that would quietly beg to be scratched until it was finally satiated. A persistent longing, for something that one couldn't even properly define. And still that horrible white churning mass seemed to be differentiating, evolving before the Vandenreich's very eyes.

Tap. Flap. Tap. Flap. Those wings, originally of leathery flesh and sinew like a dragon's, seemed to be retracting into the mass, only to be replaced by strange feathery wings that jutted out at impossible right angles, stiff and unyielding in a way that looked almost robotic. They shouldn't have been able to sustain the flight of any creature, much less one as massive as Yaksha, but physics hardly seemed to play a part here anymore. Yaksha was furious for the first time he could truly remember since becoming a vasto lorde, and every single soul within his being was telling him the same thing: That this was the only opportunty he'd have, in any meaningful capacity, to sever the destiny between demon and hollow, to leave the two free to go their own ways.

Taptap. Taptap. That strange, wretched sound continued, but now it had a strangely purposeful, rhythmic sense to it. Like someone was pounding out material on an anvil, turning pure raw potential into reality. Like somewhere, deep inside that mass that Yaksha had become, they were ripping out gobbets of not-being and turning them into being. Slowly, methodically, Yaksha was rewriting himself, as if he were trying to scribble in the margins of his life's story. A grotesque, and wholly impossible offense of the concept of the cycle, before the very eyes of the Vandenreich, as Yaksha smithed a new self. Now, strange shapes that resembled nothing moreso than halos seemed to be jutting from his shoulderblades, and around his torso.

Tap. TapTAP. Tap. TAPtap. No less purposeful, but now far more arrythmic, the creature seemed to be pulling its very being and impression from somewhere else. It was almost as if it were holding up the image in its minds eye for comparison to the current image it was working on, and trying to figure out the next step. Hands jutted from the mass, two of them, both remarkably human in appearance; five fingers, fully-defined joints and knuckles, a strangely smooth texture that almost made it seem like he was carved from marble. And perhaps it wasn't in fact an anvil, pounding out metal into shapes, but a chisel, excising the needless portions to be stowed away for later use, to become something else.

TaptaptapTAP. TaptapTAPTAPTAP. Faster and faster, as time went on, like the artist was growing more comfortable with their canvas, more pleased with the image in their imagination and how it'd transfer to reality, one could see it in real time now, those globs of white much solidifying and becoming something else. There was now a very real sense that they were seeking out particular points, then applying force with the precision and pinpoint accuracy of an icepick. Or a chisel. Ripping off bits of Yaksha, and now there were in fact scythes, two of them, wickedly sharp and with those same curious halos resting at the ends. One for each hand, and now it truly was looking like whatever this thing was, it was a work of art, not just some haphazard monstrosity, or even some organic weapon of mass destruction as Yaksha had been. This was something horrifying in its perfection, beautiful in its purpose and care, something that put the idea of a creator starkly in one's mind.

The difference was, this creator was creation, one and the same.

THWAP. THWAP. THWAP. One by one, heads popped forth from the mass that was now looking far more defined and realized, far more like something made by a mind that was either diseased in its depravity, or inflicted with a clarity that would have had them branded a witch in nearly any epoch. Each one appeared with a resounding noise not unlike that of a bell tolling, their expressions perfectly human, emotion clear to be read in those features. They were unmoving, unchanging, but each one encompassed mankind perfectly. They spoke a million words without ever opening their lips.

They were unbearably, crushingly, soul-searingly disappointed.

Tap. CRACK.
Not an anvil at all, not a statue, but an egg. The sudden understanding came in a flash of insight to everyone present as the last of the creature revealed itself, its lower body nothing more than a feathery mass similar to that of the wings it had formed a moment ago. Yaksha's hairs were gone, all retracted into this -thing- in some manner that the eye could hardly even notice with everything else that was going on with his body. This creature, this -thing- that had never existed in the history of man and could never exist after this one perfect moment, twirled both scythes with a slow, strange motion that was almost stilted in its performance, like it was getting used to the idea of using tools. Like a newborn, testing out walking for the first time.

"Do not speak of them as if you have any place within their numbers. I have come to guard them and bring them to the place I have prepared. You have no place in my Eden. Be still your forked tongue, for there can be but one snake in the garden. Your rebellion against my Heaven shall end here and now."

Yugiri

Looking outwards it seemed like there was another group of Vandenreich members, Yugiri sure would appreciate it if they hurried up. She only intended to be here to deal with the big guy, assuming this was him but it also wasn't like she needed to be the one to beat him. It had been so much time with the poor cannon fodder of this unit that she felt a little bad that that the other group had like two powerful individuals compared this one which had.. a hollow.

She didn't count herself at all either. After a sigh she thought about Ira, she couldn't really fight this thing with a little girl on her back, she didn't really want to put her down either.

"Alright, kid. You're not allowed to die."

Yugiri really meant the not dying part, she'd be really mad if she died since she had already taken on this kid as responsibility. When her things broke, she didn't like that one bit. This was no different even if there was a substantial difference between an object and the kid in her shoulder.

She backpeddled with the cover of another Kyokko to veil her presence with the smokescreen the demon generated himself. Might as well take the moment to hide Ira away from danger. From afar she wondered if she was seeing something that outdid even her own level of chuuni and that she thought, was weird. Oh well. She'd kill the hollow anyway afterwards, a good deed for the Gotei or something like that.

"Is this what she meant when she said I was a chuuni? I hope it's not. Heaven, Snake, blah blah. Ira, be a good girl and sit here, I'll erect a barrier too just don't do anything stupid. Right?"

ALASTAIR EISFLUCH | STERNRITTER

As the demonic mastermind revealed itself from amidst the mass of hollows, Alastair tightened his grip upon Falke. He'd dealt with plenty of such creatures throughout the war, enough to know that this was going to be an uphill struggle for him and his comrades, though it still did leave a growing pit of concern in his chest that the demon was bold enough to challenge them almost alone. Not to discredit the threat of a Gillian, which was dangerous enough to prove more than a match for him on any other day.

His first instinct, perhaps to his credit, was not to turn tail and hide though. He thought to look for the returned Ira, intending to see that they were kept safe and perhaps glean some insight into what their shinigami friend had in mind. Instead, he was left in the dust once more and then the inane tapping began.

Alastair considered himself a rather stoic individual, never one to openly baulk at a harrowing event, and yet even he could not help but break concentration as Yaksha took to the skies and transformed. He supposed he had asked the hollow to get creative, and this was certainly within that ballpark, but what the fuck was he even becoming? Was it a good thing? He seemed to be talking now like some superior lifeform and, whilst he was certainly towering above them, that did little to set the quincy's mind at ease about what might follow the resolution of this mission.

Alas, there was no time to waste contemplating future events, so he took a long breath and began to refocus his Reishi on his weapon. This posturing was probably not going to last much longer.

IRA HOLYFIELD

Ira really wanted to say something about this whole hullabaloo, but then he got yanked away by the little missy again. Not that he necessarily minded too much, she was nice to get held against and all, but still, he'd sort of wanted to at least try and be helpful. Ah well. Maybe not this time.

"Wasn't exactly plannin' on it, miss. I don't really know what's goin' on with Spike or Cristo Redentor over there, but the way I see it, maybe I'd rather not know, either. Doubt I'll be able to help much, so you don't need to worry about me skedaddling off anywhere."

Sitting down with crossed legs and resting his head on his hands, Ira let out an almost disappointed sigh at the whole situation. He hadn't really expected this situation to be easy or anything, far from it actually, but this was a bit more than he'd been expecting.

"You don't go dyin' out there either, yeah? Be a real shame if the pretty lady takin' all this responsibility for me went the way of all those other poor guys and gals that came with."

The Uprooter

What a splendorous display! Filled with childlike glee, the demon couldn’t help but wear an ugly smile on his face, showing all of his shiny, pointy, serrated, teeth. He could not help but clap his hands, once, before opening his arms wide as if accepting someone’s embrace. His laugh is demonic in nature, his tone boosted by an echoing that carried his laughter outward.

“Marvelous! You! Yaksha! You are marvelous! Are you sure you are not a demon?! You stake claim over the lives of others as if you are God! Then, I shall be their devil! I shall tempt them with sin. I shall spit in your face and scream ridicules unto you! If you are their Edan, I shall be their Tartarus! If you are Christ Almighty, I shall be Satan, Lucifer: The Fallen. I shall be your Usurper!”

He could not help but join in the charade before him. His glee is all too palpable. It is as if none of the others exist to him, for his attention is wholly on Yaksha’s boisterous transformation and exclamation. The foolish Hollow even turned its signature into that of a Quincy. Does he mock them as much as he mocks one’s religion? And they call him a demon? Ah, but what a wondrous fortress to cut down. He shall be the first felled by the blade that shall rule this world.

“LET US DANCE!”

With that as the only warning, wings unfurled from his back, leathery and drape-like. His sword is grabbed moments before he takes off into the sky, his blade ready and ripe to strike one of the many faces that Yaksha now sports. Demon magic exploded around his blade, coating it in energies that far surpass any creature they have faced by leagues of uncertain decibels. Any counter-attack will find itself met by even force, the demon proving a far worthy adversary.

Yugiri

"Pfft. Me, dying? Don't be silly."

She ignored the compliment, it would've made her blush if she wasn't trying to sound cool and at ease. It wouldn't be much good if she left the kid worried for her but Yugiri also didn't like to sound grim either. Couldn't these two shut up though? God, these two were awful. The things they said made her cringe and the way they played off each other were so frustrating to listen to. She was the chuuni, she wasn't this bad though, right? She'll just shut them up.

Yeah, as the demon took flight she did as well with her Shikko. The air around her was filled with the sound of crickets humming while she utilised the full extent of her speed to appear behind him with her zanpakuto drawn, she embedded the weapon in his back and let the effect of its sealed power sink into his body and slow down his body; nervous impulses, reflexes and even thoughts would begin to get sluggish.

Just enough that Yugiri could exploit it with her enhanced speed. Her hands wrapped around his wings and tore away, they looked sensitive and painful to be broken. It wasn't an action done with brute strength, she was purposely applying leverage to do the work on the joints and make them go limp if at all possible. The same way that his body would feel slowed down with her zanpakuto in his back, the pain wouldn't hit him immediately to finish off her action she grabbed for her zanpakuto and kicked off him as a launch platform to get distanced.

If it was successful, the whole offence took only a few seconds and the only signs that it had been her was the fact humming could still be heard from her silhouette a little ways away from him.

"Could you two please shut up? It's been a really annoying day and now I've got you to deal with."

They were both her enemies. For the moment she'd deal with the bigger threat, the demon. The hollow could wait, she didn't feel like she owed the Gotei or Abalia any favours but getting rid of a Vasto Lorde on Earth would probably benefit its denizens. Preferrably she'd have let them both fight, kill the winner while they were weak but this demon was strong and she didn't think Yaksha could handle it by himself so she'd help him for now.

ALASTAIR EISFLUCH | STERNRITTER

The sudden change of tact from the demon came as yet another surprise, but it was hardly the most extraordinary thing to happen in the past few minutes and so it hardly caused him to flinch. The moment for action was now, the shinigami was sharp enough to notice that first, and at least it might stop the flying monstrosities dramatic back and forth of rhetoric.

Yugiri's offensive had barely lasted long enough for him to call it that, but it had highlighted the beast's wings as a strategic target and he certainly agreed with that notion. If they could hamper its movement then perhaps the Vandenreich soldiers could pincushion it with a few volleys from their weapons and do some actual damage, that was the best thing to hope for as they stared down some rather dire odds.

"Jackson, have your men focus their fire on that chatty demon's wings and try to bring it back down to earth to give Yaksha the edge in the air. Delta two, we shall track that Gillian and give it something to think about before it wades into the fray."

He didn't know what exactly inspired him to keep giving orders but, ever since Jenkins' untimely end, no one in Delta 2 had bothered to challenge him when he had taken charge of the outfit - even Yaksha tolerated it in the loosest extent of the word.

So, with his command given, Alastair darted sideways with a short series of Hirenkyaku to lead the remainder of Delta 2 around to get a clear line of fire upon the Menos. It was certainly a large target, though it would take an inordinate amount of energy to lay it low after all the hollows it had just consumed to birth itself. He began by activating Blut Arterie and loosed the first Heilig Pfeil from Falke, aiming for the heart of the gigantic creature and, hopefully, the rest of his squadron would follow in turn.

Yaksha, The Überseele

The angelic creature that had taken Yaksha's place rose both scythes to the air, its hands moving in a strange, curious manner that brought to mind some sort of strange ritual; it hadn't spoken at all as the demon entered its own inane monologue, attempting to draw more and more comparisons between them, trying to become a foil to him. He normally would've laughed, but even that felt wrong at this moment. This thing had offended him so mortally, had decided to rehash something Yaksha had hoped to be done with long before this. The hollows were constantly, constantly under someone else's thumb. If not a demon's, or a shinigami's, another hollow.

Wasn't it finally fucking time they had a chance to decide for themselves for once? What they wanted to be, what they -believed- in? So many of them had simply come to believe that their powers defined them, that they only mattered in relation to who they could kill, and who could kill them. It made Yaksha ache, to his very core, always seeing these relationships go the same way. To know that his children were all struggling like this, and that absolutely no one but him cared about what -they- wanted. So as the demon approached, poised to strike, prepared to bat aside any defense, he did something unexpected.

Yaksha provided no defense, whatsoever. He opened his arms wide, retracting every vital organ and tendon from his torso, leaving it little more than a simple framework that kept him afloat; something hardly even needed given current physical form, a mere nod at human anatomy. The blade slid in, as he moved his chest and body to accept the blow, before wrapping one arm around the hand that had attempted to strike him, clasping it in place. His physical strength was far from spectacular, but it didn't really need to be; all he needed was to make sure that it would take more effort to move the blade than let it go entirely. Given his previous actions, it was likely he could control it telepathically, in some manner; this was fine as well, because it meant that he could keep the demon's focus on him, and ensure the others could do their jobs more effectively.

The weapon struck home, and Yaksha's free hand rose, scythe with it. And as it swooped down towards the demon's back, aiming to finish the cut that had been started by the sudden appearance of an ally from the Gotei, prepared to sever limb from mass, to turn this would-be graceful tempter into a clumsy, aching creature that would be ill-suited to stand before him, or anyone else once again, he simply let out a low, almost pained sigh.

"You misunderstand. I chose this form and this self to shame you. Your role was already patently obvious. Embracing it provides you no power."

He thought it humorous. What use is there to carnage without a bit of condescension? However, it seems despite their flashiness, his opponents did not share the same sentiment. One pesky individual thought to shut up his exchange with the giant floating Hollow. He felt a prick in his back, a blade resting between his shoulder blades. Suddenly, his muscles seemed to seize up as his blade sunk into Yaksha’s empty chest. That is when the demon noticed the pain from his back, one of his wings handled viciously until it snapped. However, as it broke, the Shinigami on his back would feel the wing instantly snap itself back into place despite her grip, the blade inside of Yaksha’s moving quickly despite the demon’s slowed reactions.

Seemingly spinning itself while inside Yaksha, the blade ripped itself free, both from the Hollow’s chest and demon’s hands as it spun underneath his arm and moved to slice cleanly through Yugiri unless she moved away. Then, its course continued in an upward circle as it collided with the scythe that aimed to gorge the demon’s back. Comically, the blade also struck the demon, batting him down towards the ground, out of the two assailants’ reach before soaring away itself after the falling demon. Whether Yugiri sat on his back still or not, the Zanpakuto that had entered his back had been pushed out by the excessive force used by the free willed sword, leaving the demon to catch himself moments before he crash-landed.

Rising from the minor pit created by his fall, the demon had no time to collect himself as arrows flew past and into his chest, the Quincy opening fire on his position. Annoyed, the demon pointed a finger, the Gillian charging a cero that would be let loose on the Quincy and cause them to scatter. Then, the Gillian began firing ceros at random all over the battlefield, knocking up dust due to disturbing the environment, a cloud of dust decorating the area.

Yugiri

Well if he regenerated then that was a problem, she didn't quite understand why he suddenly healed back. Yugiri did know it was a demon thing so maybe it was just because he was a demon. Oh well, that was still a bit of an issue and she couldn't just leave her zanpakuto embedded in his body either to try and slow down the process.

She was gone by this point already anyway, retreating away before the blade was allowed to hit her. His sword did appear to follow him which gave her a hint that he must be pretty fond of that blade, all she had to do was get it away from him. She didn't even know if it was anything special but frankly, he clearly liked to fight with a sword and if she could snatch it away and force him to fight her hand-to-hand then she felt much more confident.

Her eyes flicked to look at the gillian, it would be hard to get it to work as she wanted but if she could somehow coax the menos to utilise Negacion and conveniently have the demonic sword inside it then she could separate him from it but that was a lot of work and she didn't really know if his sword was that valuable to try and make happen.

So instead she just fired a shakkaho at the demon when it landed.
