Prologue

It was not the only time that he skipped class and there are two reasons; his position and his sister. Though there are times when his older sister, Aiko was helping him more than he helped her, Akio still pursues the mental ultimatum that one day, he will be a great help to his older sister. He stood by the sliding door of Aiko’s class, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms like a tough guy. His six-three height and muscular build going with his passive aggressive expression on his face emphasized to wannabe bullies that he is the kind of underclassman they do not want to mess around with. His dark-tan skin and his short, dark brown hair combed back often gave the impression that he is a delinquent without having to wear the uniform. His outfit was layered, even in the heat with white shirt, yellow vest, and a dark trench coat--all without sleeves, which are torn off or already were off to begin with—To make it more ridiculous, he has his gray pants rolled up into shorts as he wears white socks and dark dress shoes that matches his dark belt that has his fingerless, studded leather gloves hanging off of it. Like always, he wears a pair of over-the-ears headphones with shallow cups and fiber wires traveling down to his left pants pocket. While if he does not have his large muscles, he would be a clownish figure to behold, but because of his appearance, he is more of a punk down to the letter.
 

Interlude 1: Akio

Ring-a-ling-ding-ding-ding goes the bell and the Aiko’s classmates are running out. Aiko was the last one out because she takes her time and as she came out of the classroom, she notices Akio waiting for her. Akio gives her a confident smirk and holds up his right fist casually towards his older sister. Aiko smiles and bumps his fist with her right fist. With a smile, Aiko tries to convince Akio like before, “I’m going to be fine. I don’t need a bodyguard all the time.” Akio frowns to the gravity of his memory of what happened to her before, “If he is going to attack you again, I will be there to greet him. I will not repeat my last mistake of having you walk home alone last year.” Aiko gives a gentle nod and hands Akio her books and they begin to walk to Aiko’s next class. Aiko appears burdened by something as she warily asks Akio, “You still think Oniichi is to blame for my last year’s injury. You always have and it is not you.” Akio glares into the depth of the corridor as he tightens his grasp around the books, “Our parents are dead, making Oniichi our legal guardian and Oniichi does not have a heart. It is kill-this or kill-that with him and he even condescends us for not being tough enough to strike down demons without him.”
 
It was quiet between the two siblings as they continue down the corridor. For a moment, Akio daydreams about Michiko Hasegawa confessing her love for him and admiring him on how he treated his sister with such care. He glows with a goofy smile on his face with his mouth hanging open as his eyes are shut to imagine the moment. The moment that the two reach Aiko’s next classroom, he feels cock-blocked when Serah, a delinquent Quincy appears from behind Michiko. His eyes became overshadowed by his brow as a pair of very thin ribbons of tears washes down his cheeks as he bear his clenching teeth. He witnesses Serah and Michiko hugging each other, their breasts squished together and with a cute blush on Michiko’s face, she admitted that she belong to someone else and kisses Serah. Akio falls to his knees and holds his head with his two large hands and shouts, “Why, Hase-chan! Why!” Aiko turns around to see Akio leaping out of the second story window before pursuing him and stop at the window, “Aki-chan!” In the moment that Kokoiuma would open the door to her next class, Akio slams face-first into the cement with a cartoonish pop noise when a cartoon hits the ground after falling off a cliff, causing a small crater that looks like Akio’s face. Aiko looks down at her fallen brother and sighs, mumbling about having to see Michiko about Akio.
 
After a while, Akio removes his face from the cement panel and his face looks scuffed up all over and his nose was leaking out blood. His face is still moisturized by his tears of being crushed by a crush. He can clearly hear the students talking, despite the windows being closed as he quickly fixes himself with a single tissue stuck up his nose like a bull’s nose ring. He then triumphantly gets up, puts his fists against his hips and buck up his chest with a glory laugh. The students who witnessed the fall of a student realizes who he is and withdraws their interest immediately. Akio looks at the dispersing crowd with a sense of awkwardness freezing his pose. He can hear one student called him an idiot as Akio frowns with his mouth gaping opened. Ever since he came back from a conflict off-country with his older brother, he was given cold shoulders all around. He wondered about his drop in popularity as it was too steep to be normal. He opens a window and climbs through it into the first floor and closes it behind him. He looks to the left and to the right and see an empty corridor. He walks across the corridor to the door which was opened. Into the classroom, Akio stood like a giant among underclassmen, but his uneasy glancing and gaping frown said that he used to be the tough guy who cannot back down, but now was reduced to a shame among the three famous Gomoto Trio.
 

Interlude 1: Kokoiuma

Despite being slightly late to class, Akio produces a paper and pats it down onto the teacher’s desk as it contains his homework. When he looks around the classroom, he notices some interesting characters. The first one to catch his attention was a hybrid between a nun and a school girl. Her messed up red hair breathes with its exhausted mistress, who was trying to calm down. The moment that she looks into her mirror, she lets out a cute whine as she tries to fix her hair. Akio gives a wide-eyed pout as he normally has a weakness for cute things, enough of it that a girl like Kokoiuma and Michiko would be enough to make him fumble about the place. From his trench coat, a gray mouse scurries out and ascends to Akio’s right shoulder, carrying a student badge. It squeals to get Akio’s attention as Akio mutters, “Y-yeah…fund my job.” The mouse applies its left paw against its small forehead and tosses its badge like a Frisbee. As the mouse flies over the students’ head with the badge as its surfboard, Akio was going to walk his way to the girl, seeing that she is in distress and trying to hide her blushing face. UNTIL…

 

Interlude 1: Saver

Without a warning, a boy who was almost as tall as he is bursts through the window, causing the window to burst out towards a tree rather than into the classroom, which to Akio was reversed logic! Akio was obviously startled by this as he was leaning away from the scene with his right leg raised and bent towards his behind, both his hands are pointing the opposite direction from the scene with devil horns hand posing and a “what the flying hell?!” look on his face with wide eyes and a mouth shot opened and vertically narrowed. A dark-blue haired boy bursting in and giving the girl Akio is going to talk to a hairband which was what the girl was worried about. The boy introduces himself to the girl as Saver, who Akio has no idea who he was, but already was making moves which oddly does not bother Akio more than his entrance. The flying mouse finally lands on a vacant desk and lets out a, “chu!” for a shout to let Akio know that the vacant desk is his. However, Akio was going to stand up to the boy and represent the Judgment to remind him not to scare people like that. However…someone else was already angry at him.
 

Interlude 1: Naia Rosewood

Distracting himself away from the group, Akio notices a winged girl walking in with her head down. Her purple hair was covering her face while her draconic wings were folded instead of hidden, so perhaps she has trouble with that part. When she glances at Saver, Akio notices that like the nun, she is also very shy or was actually avoidant as she was seated at the back row. With a flower from her flower pot, the girl makes her way to Saver, which to Akio was close to a what-factor as Saver was getting the attention while Akio was taking the backseat of the moment. Akio relaxes his stance and turns around to see the teacher already has arrived to the desk. With a frown on his dried, scuffed up face with a nose ring made out of bloodied tissues, Akio locates his mouse and walks to the desk to attend class. Gossips around and round, Akio can hear students mumbling and whispering about Saver and the winged girl. The moment that the girl offers a flower to Saver, Akio was sitting at his desk with his gray mouse ready to take notes on its tiny notepad made by Oniichi for some odd reason that Akio cannot argue about.
 

Interlude 1: Amy

Remember the mentioning about someone else being angry? It turns out to be a blond chick with a body of an adult and a pair of blue eyes. She was currently working on something before Saver’s entrance and because of that, she was startled and ruined something. If anything to relate, she would be a greaser with a brain. ”You just pissed me off, kid. Why the hell are you jumping through windows anyway?? Give me one damn reason why I shouldn't, or I’m going to send you to your grave now.” Akio was clearly ready to jump into action should she try to start a fight. It is one thing to see his reputation going down the drain, but to see a student demanding death upon another person in this school is what gets Akio riled up enough want to see that person on the ground and confessing her defeat.
 

Interlude 1: Natalia

Moments after the teacher entered and the late bell rang, another adult-looking woman enters the scene with a chip on her shoulder. The teacher starts off with a reminder about tardiness, but was shot down to silence with a single look by the woman. Akio looks at her and his eyes are already halfway closed as he seen too many people having periods. Time to time, I do agree with U-sensei about the point of why would they allow people of different races other than the Quincy and Ziamichi around in school. Too many people from all kind of races are having a chip on their shoulder like it is a damn fad sellout and that is trouble for interracial relationships. People are hushing around the classroom as a bunch of kids and two grownups are in attendance of class.
 

Interlude 2: Kokoiuma

When looking back at the nun girl, she receives her hairband back and was surprised that she was looking at the boy who was bigger than her. Her face was quite red with embarrassment. She finally speaks as the girl with wings came up to Saver. She introduces herself as “Koko.” The moment that the winged girl has reached her destination, Koko was hiding herself again; she is obviously scared beyond her wits. Akio can associate with that when he was a little kid. Looking back into his memory, he can remember being so scared of his older brother, Oniichi that he would hide behind Aiko whenever he is passing by with his cold, passive look on his face. Now that is in the past, Akio feels that he could have just swoop in, punch the bad girls out of their PMS and hoist them off to Marisol’s office for detention. But for now, he wants to see how Saver would behave to all this.
 

Interlude 2: Saver

The moment Saver redirected the flower to Koko and telling the winged girl that Koko would want a friend, Akio was moved to tears as he holds his left fist up to his shoulder-height and grins beautifully. HE’S A MAN! Akio thought to himself out-loud. His face instantly changes to observant again as Saver answers to the mad greaser chick. In plain view, Akio can see that one, he gave Koko a teddy bear; two, he gave the mad greaser chick a piece of something that she was working on; and then three, he fixed the window. Defusing conflicts that quickly impresses Akio as he literally thought to himself, I’m okay with that. Before the class starts, Saver walks to his desk as Akio turns his view to the teacher, who is trying to start class.
 

Interlude 2: Naia Rosewood, Amy, and Natalia

After that moment, Akio notices that the second adult woman was sitting at the desk behind Koko’s desk and the greaser chick’s desk was next to the adult woman’s desk. But Akio believes it will come out alright because Saver did all this. Perhaps Saver should apply for the Judgment since he is already good at trying to defuse problems. As for the girl who identified herself as Naia, Akio can tell that her wings are draconic due to his experience in identifying various demons by their traits and draconic wings are one of the types of wings that demons have. Though it is clear that Akio can hear Naia’s whispering, he definitely heard the threats and the mumbling of the bad girls. Perhaps Naia, Saver and Koko are worth his time to connect, but he may have to talk to Zero about the two bad girls, so the Judgment knows that Akio will be watching them.
 

Epilogue

As Akio retraces his location, he realized something important. He is only three rows down from the greaser chick and a column off to the right of Koko’s column. Akio looks at his mouse as he whispers, “Nice landing, Chu-kun. A little closer would be nice.” The mouse named Chu proudly salutes to Akio with a “Chu” coming out as a word spoken by a gray mouse that is as high as Akio’s neck. Tied around his left bicep was his armband that signifies him as a member of Judgment, a team of peacekeepers in Karakura High School. Abruptly, Akio remembers something and gets up before saluting to the teacher like a soldier to an officer, “Gomoto Akio! I left my homework on your desk, sensei!” After being acknowledged by the teacher, Akio sits back down on his desk as a few students cannot help, but to giggle that the hulk of the class stood up and made a scene to tell the teacher that he left his homework on the teacher’s desk. But perhaps Akio wanted to introduce himself to Koko, Naia and Saver that way without having to annoy the teacher with him moving about. Though Chu’s existence was a mystery, Akio seems to treat it like a close friend.
