The Forsaken Past [Magnolia/Angel]
Tue Jul 03, 2018 9:56 pm
Magnolia Everfrost
Song: UNKNOWN - Artist: UNKNOWN - Words: 1012
The ground was charred and cracked. There was not a soul in sight upon this desolate, dried earth. Many places of the earth had become like this, so forlorn and neglected. Call it a paradigm shift that occured in the wrong direction, however after the occupation of the demons that had already begun to invade the realm like a plague the world which originally had been so. . lovely had simply degraded into a working pile of shit--functional, but decaying. Debauchery was around every corner, lies and deceit seemed to have replaced the natural morality that the world thrived on for so long. Nothing was changing, everything was simply running amok and sweeping it under the guise of order. It was such irrationalities that plagued the land had already reached a threshold.
Yet, even here in the quagmire of chaos there seemed to be rays of rationality. Sitting upon the broken husk of a building, dust and broken windows adorning every surface, coating every jagged broken edge of glass-- was a girl whose eyes shone like the loveliest shade of gold, and whose golden hair was lustrous in the decrepity that surrounded it. She seemed to be staring, a beacon of normality in the ruined landscape of calamity, those eyes shining like beacons as the dust had rose in the form clouds from a subtle eastern wind. Those eyes seemed to be searching for something, or someone.
”Why did you extend an invitation to a stranger? You know that you are plenty strong to acheive the goals you wish to acheive. “
Magnolia’s lips quirked into the faintest of smiles, the appearance of it hidden underneath the cloud of dust that was lazily trailing through the air; shifting like smoke. It seemed as if this place was as far removed from civilization as it could be, the very dredges of a bygone era of prosperity--an era in which the supernatural had been but a dream. You could still see swing-sets broken and in states of disrepair, their rusted shells, the plastic housings long since gone testaments of a time that children simply could be children--unfettered by the domes of energy and the guards that blocked the fringes of habitable society from the monsters and heathens that now had plagued this world.
Golden eyes swept through the broken wreckage and couldn’t help wondering what this place looked like in it’s prime. What people lived here, what lives had played out in this place. Who had it nurtured, and who ultimately had it shunned? There were so many marks of history that were laid bare here. The bones of animals; probably household pets that had starved after going wild for many generations when the bigger, less “meaty” predators had taken over. Not even rats seemed to remain here, the land had long since be scounged bare by the scavengers that had lived here for hundreds of years before they either died out or moved on.
Magnolia had pulled from her back her big-bear sword. The large naginata resting flat-side against her knee as she pulled out a cloth and covered it in oil and slowly began to take care of the blade. She had nothing better to do after all seeing as she was awaiting the other person to appear. Each stroke of her hand and the cloth seemed to polish the dull, honed edge of her blade--slowly bringing it to a sparkle as she waited in the dusty gloom, of this forsaken town.

The Shinigami Doll
Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road
The Doll had received an invitation by one of the most unlikely of guests. It came from Magnolia, a Shinigami of peculiar power and whose origins held a lot of promise to the fate of the world, given the ubiquitous nature of hers. Though the very details of Black World were still shrouded in mystery to those of this realm, enough information was known to a select few to create sufficient curiosity. Angel was among the ones whose research had led her eventually to open up research on the matter, and the potential benefits and drawbacks of delving deeper into it. As a result, she was delighted at a chance to meet the woman that for all intents and purposes, was a stranger to her. The Doll knew as much of Magnolia as a close acquaintance given her massive data file, but as far as she knew, they had never met.
Contrary to the belief however, the two not only knew each other previously, but had even worked alongside one another once upon a time. From a time long lost in Angel’s memory, back when she went by the name of Crystal, her life as a pure Shinigami had made them both cross paths. At the time, Magnolia was a Lieutenant and Crystal was a third seat of different squads. Not long after her then coworker had left Seireitei, Crystal went up to become the Captain of the R&D. However, both those memories and the ones that led to Angel’s creation were still cleverly hidden treasures the Doll could perhaps discover someday. As for their meeting, although the Shinigami was likely to notice some familiarity with the nature of her energy, pin pointing its origin and identity to a singular being among so many was frankly out of her reach.
“We have to go Teddy,” said Angel with a smile as she waved her partner on.
“Nah, I’m good,” joked Ted as he played with something out and away from sight. “Maybe next ti-.”
He didn’t seem to be too keen on going, but he wasn’t allowed to finish either way. Before he could utter the last few words, a golden light of reishi enveloped them, with their next steps being somewhere very far away. The teddy bear would indeed finish his words, but he too would notice the location they had traveled to was very different from the clean cozy look of her lab. The area was desolate, almost like a sort of wasteland. There was seemingly no life in their vicinity save for Angel’s and possibly the individual they were there to see. As for Ted, there were more than a few reasons why he came along in some of her trips. Beyond very basic combat capabilities, he was of great use given the multitude of functions he possessed. Despite his behavior and his more unstable and unpredictable of antics, he was actually pretty nice. More importantly, among all her droids, Angel had developed a sort of affection for the creature. Little did she know that part of it stemmed from her previous life, where her creation had meant as much to her as the child she never had.
“Hey, you can’t be doing that,” said Ted as he turned to see the blonde they were there to meet. “Holy tits, I mean, Christ!” As he turned, a small glass container with several tube-like extensions gave off a sort of white smoke of dubious origins. It was difficult to discern what it was, for as soon as Magnolia laid her eyes on it Ted would have tossed it and smashed it into the ground.
“I, I have a glandular problem,” said Teddy. “It helps with my glaucoma. Anyways, got a name sugar ti-.“
“Ted!” interrupted Angel as she walked before him. “Be serious.”
The teddy bears behavior was often erratic and his words didn’t make much sense either; not to Angel anyways. A droid couldn’t have a glandular problem or glaucoma. Whatever his deal was, the Doll would approach Magnolia, extending her hand towards the general area her energy seemed to originate from. The blindfold still covered her eyes, mostly a sign of her blindness. Still, it was clear her other senses and energy pooled together to at the very least give her some form of situational awareness and help her function decently.
“I’m Angel. Nice to meet you Magnolia. Please forgive my companion.”
Her hand was still outstretched, making an effort to be as delicate with her grip as she could. For as powerful as the Shinigami could be, the Doll had miscalculated her own physical strength quite a few times, leading to rather unfortunate circumstances. As she did this, from behind one of her thighs, the teddy bear procured a phone as he sneaked a couple pictures of the blonde before Angel, a lecherous smile adorning his expression. Had they taken the time to check, they would’ve noticed he was actually sending very particular pictures with very specific angles of his latest find, to his old pal, Kyu.
