The news had broke through the SS that The Moon Base was under attack and the Vanguard needed help, help that would be welcomed from any corner, even the weakened Gotei would be accepted. Carter was slow to take up the call to arms and he wouldn't deny it, the night before the attack while everyone was whispering about a tense day coming he was out drinking and howling at the moon, the Captain had fallen on hard times. He had only ever felt connections to one women and for the better of his squad he abandoned her to her darkness and shortly after the Goddess of Madness herself inflicted such an unearthly pain upon the young boy he was beyond shocked had survived. His survival wasn't without scar though, a mental one that pushed tendrils of darkness deeper into his soul every time he denied his urges. When he wanted to drink and fight he drank and fought now so that the insanity that came if he ignored it would stay away.
So now the hung over young Captain found himself on the Vanguard Moon Base after the fighting had broke out, he was in a distant sector but he knew soon war would come, it always came. He could feel the energy of his sister further away and knew Cirno was fighting a hard match and he wanted to go help her because she was the closest to a family he ever had but he was afraid for her to see his inner darkness that Mana had inflicted upon him.No.
He thought, forcing himself to stay where he was, to hold his ground and focus on protecting the thousands of souls around him. Spirits such as Shinigami felt weakened slightly on the moon, it was further from Earth and even more so from the Soul Society. The boy could feel it, he was aware of it before coming here and knew that he would be hindered but it had to happen. He knew he wasn't as hampered as other like him since some of his power came form his angelic ability and from the training he had gathered from Cirno, with his elder sister being closer by than she had been in months he could feel a boost in power from her heavenly aura and with that boost the drain of being so far away from earth was almost balanced out.
That was good news and the next bit of good news came from his angelic being, whenever and enemy finally did show up they wouldn't know that someone was already here protecting this area, the seven angels had no spirit pressure, they appeared in all ways humans until they made themselves known and Carter was standing in a mass of frightened humans and spirits who were heading toward bunkers built for this exact instance.
His eyes scanned every angle, the golden orbs soaking in as many details as he could while his left hand rested on the hilt of his Zanpakutō hidden under a black robe like hoodie that the trendy teens would wear, having decided to ditch his Captain robes in favor of a surprise attack. This would allow him to watch the enemy who appeared when they finally did and think of a good opening move they wouldn't be ready for or know where it was coming from.
"Truth give me the strength to protect these souls, give me the power to strike down any enemy, and the speed to think quickly under pressure.
" The young white haired boy whispered, his words lost under the screams of scared children and sobs of frightened mothers. This would be a test the young Captain wasn't sure he was entirely ready for, his mind already stabbing him to just let these people find hell or heaven without him to protect him, urging him to just go get drunk and let Truth sort these people. With a frustrated sigh he pushed these thoughts down, knowing they would grow in power the more he ignored them until finally he went mad for a bit, hoping the insanity could be staved ff until he found someone to direct it toward.
