As his blade connected Law was surprised to see the extent of the damage. He hadn't expected to make contact with that attack, and he certainly hadn't expected to send Kai flying. Sometime's Law really didn't know his own strength. Perhaps he should have been a bit more careful. He had no intention of seriously injuring the human, but every once in a while it was just time to cut lose. Law stuck his blade in to the snow as Kai skidded to a stop, and looked on curiously, hoping to ascertain the injuries the other had sustained. Sparks continued to fly from the blade as it sat nestled in snow, apparently unperturbed by the change. The snow however, had seen better days, it was melted in patches all around where they'd been fighting, and now where Law had stuck his blade.
Law stayed where he was and simply watched as Kai popped his shoulder back in to place and regained his footing. He could hear the pop from where he was standing, and it echoed around them loudly, as did Kai's scream moments later. The human was certainly resourceful, some would have given up before trying that one out. As he met Kai's gaze though he could tell that the human had plenty of fight left in him. It was hard to imagine him accepting the offer of peace now.
When Kai spoke Law's suspicions were confirmed. They would continue then, that was fine by him. Law pulled his sword out of the snow, twirled it once, and then held it in both hands once more.
"A hero, huh? Fine by me kid, just don't complain when you get your ass kicked."
In truth Law wouldn't have respected anyone that had backed down at that moment. What Kai said hit the nail on the head. To agree to peace then meant to let Law do whatever he pleased. A real fighter stood up for themselves. He noticed that Kai was now equipped with nothing but his fists. They were covered in fire sure, but still they were his fists. Law would not be throwing away his weapon so easily. The electricity that coated his blade was weakening now, and he could see that he'd have only one more attack with it. Accepting this he made his move.
Law moved towards his opponent. Not using shunpo this time, not even running. He walked calmly ahead and waited to see what would be thrown at him next. He wasn't sure how much longer Kai was capable of fighting for normally, but the human seemed to be showing at least some signs of wear. He wondered if endurance was his advantage. He was obviously faster than Kai, but he'd also noticed that the human was almost certainly stronger than him. That was somewhat absurd when he thought about it, but it was what he'd observed. Some serious training was in order when he was done with this entire ordeal.

A small smile grew across Kai's face as his opponent responded to his statements borne from his roofless confidence and determination, both of which playing significant roles in his continued efforts to defeat the Shinigami. The man's ragged breaths began slowing and steadying as the momentary respite freed his body to recover enough for his mind to calm. As Law began walking toward him, Kai came up with an idea just dangerous and insane enough to work. From his current stance Kai brought his entire right side forward with a tremendous punch, causing a wide blast of more green fire to go reeling toward his foe at a rapid pace. While this flame obstructed his opponent's view of him Kai did the best he could to hide any and all traces of his spiritual pressure signature and launched himself at Law, moving as quick as he possibly could.
Within just a short moment Kai reached Law about a second after his fire blast would. With the aim of accomplishing his plan before his foe could really react, Kai continued moving at his maximum speed. His left hand shot up and attempted to grab onto the man's blade, the fire coating it acting as a limited countermeasure against the energy still surging along the weapon. Knowing it wouldn't be enough to protect injury, Kai attempted to land as heavy a punch as possible with his other hand square against his target's abdomen. This strike would also cause fire to shoot of his fist and spread across the man if it successfully landed. These actions would likely result in Kai sustaining serious damage, but he hoped his own attack would also be capable of doing the same to his foe. Now it was all up to how Law responded.
Bright green flame roared towards him, and Law quickly stepped to the left. A moment later however a punch shot from the fire, and Law felt his blade being grabbed. Reacting at the absolute limits of his ability Law focused his room in the area the punch was aimed at moments before it connected. Unfortunately this didn't do much to lessen the blow. That hadn't been his goal though, he had to make sure the fire didn't get on him. Instantly Law released the energy left in his blade as a massive force hit him square in the midsection. He remained on his feet, although only his heels touched the ground as he found himself reeling backwards until he slammed into a tree. Snow fell around him, and he heard a loud crack. Law brought his left hand up to feel his abdomen. A few of his ribs he suspected might be cracked, and he found himself out of breath, but he believed himself to still be in one piece.
Standing, Law noticed more pain. Twisted ankle, broken toe, dislocated finger, and his back was already bruising from where he'd smacked the tree. The finger he snapped back into place with a grimace, the others would have to be ignored for now. He made his way back to where he imagined Kai and he had been fighting last. With the snow it was hard to see very far ahead of him, and he wasn't sure that Kai would even still be in the same place. Even with his limited vision Law saw the flames burning not far off. The outskirts of their makeshift battleground. A moment later and he'd be standing back in the center of the flames. He held his zanpakuto in front of him ready for whatever came his way. The electricity had worn away from his blade by now, but a different energy seemed to be gathering along it now. It was not very dissimilar to electricity, but the energy was purple, and it acted slightly differently as it made its way up and down his sword.

As the miniature explosion occurred due to his own power this time, Kai just barely had enough time to pull both arms back to guard his face, an action which thankfully also saved his hand from being torn apart. Despite this last-second action, his left palm and fingers had been damaged quite severely by his enemy's electric energy. Though not entirely destroyed, he currently had very little feeling in his left hand and could barely move his digits. What mattered more to Kai though was the fact he landed a solid blow against Law. Having caused enough damage to send him reeling backward and potentially breaking bones, perhaps ribs if he got lucky, made receiving his own injuries in kind worth it. In fact Kai was even able to find a silver lining in the injuries he sustained. "At least the cold helps dull the pain."
From within the relative safety of rows of his flames, Kai stood waiting for his opponent to return. Considering what had already occurred here, he seriously doubted the Shinigami would walk away from the conflict; This assumption was proven correct in just a couple minutes once Law made his way back into the zone of fire Kai had created during the length of their battle. Face to face with his foe who had put up more of a fight than most enemies he met, Kai winced slightly from pain and grinned as he spoke to the man. "To make things fair I should get to phone a friend, I could really use a hand right about now." As he made his joke Kai lifted his damaged hand to emphasize. Despite the incredible pain it would cause, Kai tore a hanging piece of his pant leg off and wrapped it around his hand after physically forcing it into the shape of a fist, tied the cloth off, and once again took a combative stance with both arms raised. As a symbolic way of saying "I'm still in this", Kai lit a blazing ring of verdant flames around where he stood and waited for the next chapter of their bout to begin.
Hearing his opponent speak Law turned his head, now facing the other man once more. He’d made his way about halfway across the flame covered ground that had been created earlier before discovering Kai again. He did his best to display nothing of his injuries, as he always did in battle, regardless of whether or not he considered it to be serious combat. This, he did not consider to be serious combat. Just a bit of fun in a place removed from any other imaginable source of entertainment. Boys will be boys, after all.
From what he could tell, Kai had also received some less than minor injuries himself. He noticed the other man inspecting his hand, the one he’d so carelessly laid directly on Law’s blade. Perhaps that hadn’t been the wisest decision. His opponent still seemed to have a good deal of fight left in him though, as he didn’t appear defeated in any way, in fact he looked almost rejuvenated. That was fine by Law. Let this game go on for as long as it would, one didn’t find entertainment like this just anywhere. As Kai spoke to him with a grin on his face Law smirked. His opponent was busy tending to his wounds. In the meantime Law would have a bit of fun.
“I’m not in the habit of giving them out, sorry. Taking them away? That’s a different story.”
As he spoke these final words Law utilized his shunpo to the maximum effect he was capable of. Darting across the ground once more, hindered only slightly by the agony that tore through his midsection, Law aimed a new attack at his foe. Something he hadn’t seen yet. Law raised his Odachi, its long blade extending well in front of him, and charged at the same time as Kai lit his ring of fire. Along the blade, a familiar sight. Whereas earlier the length of the blade had been “coated” in electricity, it was now coated in an altogether different substance. It was a dark purple that resembled spiritual pressure somewhat, but there was a definite tangibility to it, and the way it moved was unnatural. In his life Law had never seen anything else that resembled this ability, so he assumed it was one of a kind. That meant it was always surprising. Just what he liked.
Making sure that his body was completely covered by his room, Law dashed through the flames and made his attack. He aimed his blade at Kai’s right arm. If he were to connect then the purple energy that had been coalescing around his blade would immediately disperse into Kai, and his arm would find itself no longer attached to his body. If successful he would catch the arm, thereby keeping Kai from immediately reattaching it. If not then he would simply defend himself and wait for the others next move.

Any down time to catch his breath was clearly gone as Kai's opponent once again started the fight back up. He was just thankful he had been able to wrap his fist fast enough to not be caught off guard as despite the Shinigami's speed Kai was starting to get used to his speed, making it easier to block and dodge. While still at a disadvantage, this change at least meant he could be a bit more proactive against the man. Being a bit of a brawler certainly helped as well, allowing Kai to make a guess about when Law would reach him and thus give him a better chance at successfully dodging his attack than earlier. By the time Law made it to Kai he had already begun shifting left. By pushing fire out of the side of his foot Kai was able to speed up his dodging movement to surpass what he was normally capable of. However this was hardly all he had up his sleeve even after everything that had already occurred.
Once Kai was sure his foe's blade was going to narrowly miss, he created a sphere of flame in his right palm which promptly began growing rapidly in size. By continuously pumping energy into the sphere Kai was able to make it expand to over three meters in diameter, potentially catching or enveloping Law who had brought himself within range of the attack. Regardless of whether it reached Law through growth, Kai launched it at the man immediately upon reaching maximum size. Upon impact the large sphere would explode into a six meter tall inferno before spreading across the ground just as Kai's earlier flames had. At this point the two combatants were in a green Hell which only seemed to be getting worse with time. Though the raging field of fire had long since gone out of control, Kai wasn't worried too badly about it causing widespread damage. If he won this battle he could deal with it after, and if he lost at least it would be difficult for Law to stick around after, or so he thought.
Refocusing on what was currently happening made Kai intently aware of his opponent's strengths. The man seemed to have an edge due to his raw speed and the fact the Warden still didn't really have a clue as to what his Zanpakutou was capable of. Due to this, Kai figured he would need to stay on the offensive or there was a good chance he could end up surprised or overwhelmed. Following this Kai leaned forward slightly and shot fire under his feet, launching him a solid three meters into the air. At this point he was in the middle of a forward flip, his right foot pointing directly at the sky. As he fell more flames spread from his leg, which sent a large wave of fire directly for Law. Once safely on the ground again Kai shot a fireball from his fist which was sent careening toward the Shinigami. This sphere was much more volatile than the wave. Once the wave of fire was close enough to Law the ball would collide with it, turning said wave into a much larger explosion of green flames which constantly spat out smaller embers shooting out across the battlefield. Once all was said and done Kai was standing with his knees bent and right hand gripping the more damaged arm, pain now really starting to interrupt his thoughts. With gritted teeth and heavy panting Kai waited for any kind of response from Law.
Law closed the distance between he and Kai in a mere moment, but he could see that the other was reacting more quickly than he had been previously. At the same time Law could see that Kai had been preparing his own assault, conjuring up another ball of flame, in his hand this time. He seemed to be feeding energy into it as at a constant rate, as it continued to grow .As Law swung through with his attack he could see that Kai had just barely managed to dodge it, the blade coming within inches of his skin, and that Kai's own attack had now grown immensely and had been fired in his direction. He was fairly close by this time, and he saw little room for dodging, and even if there were room he had too little time. Not sure exactly what would happen, he decided to try something new.
The green flames raged towards him at incredible speeds giving off a massive amount of heat. Concentrating only on his own body Law began using the abilities of his room to alter the state of his skin on a molecular level. This was nothing he'd ever attempted before and he had to think rapidly if he wanted to complete the effect in time to prevent himself catching on fire. His first train of though and main concern immediately was what could he actually change his skin into? He thought it over as quickly as he could under the circumstances, then with a stroke of insight came to his conclusion. He would become diamond.
Although he'd never manipulated his own body he'd done plenty of this kind of thing to random object plenty of times in the past, and it didn't turn out to be too much different. The only thing was that it felt slightly strange as his skin transformed. He could feel a strong tingling, the strangest sensation of all though was when an area had been completely transformed. It then lost all sense of feeling and it was almost as if he was watching someone or something else control his body. Before he had time to react further the flames engulfed him, roaring loudly as it scarred the landscape further.
Flames raged on all sides of him as Law looked down at his hands. He then checked over the various other parts of his body. He was completely engulfed, so he wasn't sure how well Kai could see him, but at the same time his speed would be moderately reduced, bringing him much closer to Kai's speed. A blitz would most likely not be his best option. With that fact in mind he kept his position, waiting to see what the other would do. Moments later the flames exploded around him, unleashing their energy in all directions. Had he been unprotected Law imagined he would have been severely burned. As he was now though, he felt little. A dull warmth, but that was all. The force knocked him around, likely damaging him in the process, but as he could feel no pain, at least if the damage was shallow enough, he took no notice.
Stepping out of the flames Law looked over towards his opponent and shot a quick smile his way. A brilliant gleam from his teeth would likely lead Kai to believe that he'd turned those to diamond as well, but in truth that wasn't the case. He was simply adamant about his dental hygiene. Moving at his new max speed without utilizing his shunpo Law moved towards Kai, this time making a downwards strike with all of his might which could prove lethal if Kai didn't block or dodge it. He suspected that the other wouldn't let his fun end so soon though. He would then launch into a flurry of blows, not more focused on offense than defense, as he thought himself completely impervious to any further injuries.
