I. Basic Information» Name:
Croisima Kattalin» Nicknames:
Some call her Crow. Others might call her Kat. It just depends on what they feel like saying.» Appearance Age:
Early 20's» True Age:
Gotei United, Earth Affiliation» Appearance Description:
Most people who have met Croisima have always had one phrase in common amongst their descriptions of her. That phrase is quite simple: 'she looks like a punk'. This is not meant as an insult, in most cases. Truthfully, it is a rather apt description of Croisima's sense of style. Standing at the very average height of five feet and two inches, she isn't exactly an imposing figure. Nor does she really attempt to be. However, she doesn't really lean into being a feminine figure, which can be assumed to be because her own actual physical figure is rather slim. As a result of this, her haircut is rather odd--if only because of how it is parted.
In general, Croisima's hair goes down just past her chin when not styled. But, for some unknown reason, she styles it in such a way where the majority of her hair sweeps up and to the right, allowing it to frame her face. Her hairstyle isn't what makes people call her a punk, however. No, it is instead the way she dresses. No matter what outfit Croisima wears, there are a few particular accessories that are omnipresent. The most eye catching of these is her rather odd looking choker. The thing consists of a twelve inch wide black leather band, to which various pendants can be affixed. Typically, this consists of both a circular pendant and a diamond shaped one, which has another strip of black leather backing the whole thing. But they are not the only pendants that can be affixed to it. Aside from the omnipresent choker she also has a pair of stud earrings, which appear to be made of plain steel circles. These are worn no matter what she is wearing.
Other than these accessories, her sense of style causes her to wear mostly form fitting clothing in the darker shades of the color spectrum. These seem to be the only rules of what she has in her own wardrobe, as there are various types of jacket that can be found, ranging from the stereotypical leather jacket, all the way to modified bomber jackets and trenchcoats. » Appearance Picture:
I. Personality» Personality:
On the surface level, Croisima can definitely seem like the ideal person to be part of the Gotei's Earth Affiliation. She is a wildly confident woman, for starters. That overcomes a possible major hurdle in teaching. However, she is also very dedicated to making sure the things she is responsible for do in fact get done. And when it comes to most things, she seems to have seemingly boundless energy as well as determination, usually willing to keep pushing on when most everyone else would want to quit. Because of all of this, she has proven herself to be quite reliable, as she doesn't often give up on something. On top of this, she has also been shown to be a rather generous person, giving not only time, but money to the less fortunate.
Of course, she isn't perfect. For one, her generosity isn't as extensive when it comes to money than it is with time. She suffers from a moderate amount of hedonism, particularly when it comes to food and alcoholic drinks, and seems to have a difficult time balancing things out properly when it comes to these two things. And while she is indeed dedicated, it often goes too far, and becomes nothing more than stubborn insistence on continuing her current path, as she seems to function on a rather heavy degree of spite when it comes to proving herself. To that end, she also tends to be far more outspoken than she probably should be, leading to more than a few outbursts against her superiors. They aren't done out of spite, but it has gotten her in trouble quite a few times. » Likes:

I. Natural Abilities» Natural Abilities:
I. Racial Abilities» Racial Abilities: Way of The Hummingbird:
Because of the wildly different states of her Zanpakuto's sealed form and its Shikai, Croisima has found it to be a necessity to develop two different fighting styles for the two states of her sword. For the sealed state of Yamawaru, Croisima uses a fighting style she refers to as the way of the hummingbird. In this style, Croisima uses both the sheathe of Yamawaru in conjunction with Yamawaru itself. This style gains its name from the role Yamawaru's sheathe has in this style. In a sense, this style can be considered to be a style that attempts to blend a sword as well as a club and shield into a two weapon fighting style.
This is possible because of Yamawaru's sealed state's power. The entire sheathe acts as a tuning fork of sorts, emitting a hum when spun that generates a strong barrier. This allows the sheathe to be both a striking weapon, and a defensive one at the same time. The Way of The Hummingbird is a style that is very straightforward in comparison to many other styles. It has no set focus for how it operates, allowing for flexible combat. For example, one practitioner of this style might focus on the defensive aspects, learning how to more effectively block and parry. Another might focus entirely on striking with their sheathe, leading to a less outright lethal style. And yet another could focus on the pairing of blade and 'club', and develop their skills in this manner.
Croisima however, has no single focus. When using the sealed form of Yamawaru, she carries the sword in her dominant hand, and its sheathe in her off hand. The majority of attacks that Croisima might make lean towards use of the sword, typically for thrusts or slices. In this form of the style, her hand is both heavy and light. When needed, she applies heavy amounts of force, such as when delivering a thrust. But more often than not, one finds that Croisima's emphasis when striking with her blade is on speed. A speed at which can be considered on par with some of even the most well trained Iaido practitioners. When needing to work defensively, Croisima has shown a fair amount of skill in parrying strikes.
However, this is not her primary method of defense. Instead, she will lead with Yamawaru's sheathe, and spin the weapon. This creates the 'shield' aspect, as Yamawaru's sealed power creates a strong barrier when the sheathe is spun. Because of this, Croisima has demonstrated immensely dexterous fingers on both hands, allowing her to spin the sheathe with immense ease. This allows her to quickly create a barrier to block a strike, and then immediately stop the spin and counterattack with either of the weapons in her hands.
She is not afraid to use the metal sheathe of her zanpakuto for combat. However, these strikes tend to be focused more on interruptions or deflection when it is not the only weapon she uses. Should she be disarmed of Yamawaru, her combat style shifts to be entirely focused on using her sheathe as a weapon. In this scenario, she tends to be exceedingly heavy handed, delivering brutal strikes meant to shatter bone. This would normally be expected to leave one open to attack. However, this is not the case for Croisima. In this state, she has quite the capacity for defense, as all that is needed to produce the 'shield' aspect of her fighting style is to spin the sheathe in her hand, allowing for a quick, highly effective block. Unfortunately, without the blade, she is incapable of delivering a counterattack.
I. Sealed Zanpakutō» Zanpakutô Name:
Yamawaru (山笑う, Laughing Mountain).» Zanpakutô Spirit Appearance:
Yamawaru takes the form of a large eastern dragon, whose length at first seems immeasurable. However, this is merely a visual trick. When in close proximity to Yamawaru, it becomes clear that while she is very large, she is no larger than an adult dragon would normally be. Her scales take on an opal hue, and the hair of her mane takes on a golden color. However, this is not Yamawaru's only form. As she is indeed meant to carry a sword, she can exert her powers as a dragon to take on a human form. This form's shape is very befitting of her attitude.
When taking on a human form, Yamawaru appears as that of a small child, no older than perhaps thirteen. Her hair remains that shimmering gold, and her skin is as pale as opal. Her eyes shine like sapphire. This form is always seen to be wearing the outfit of a shrine maiden, and has the Zanpakuto strapped diagonally across her back, unlike in her normal form, in which the sword is never seen. she is very prideful and greedy. Way of The Mountain:
Shikai Fighting Style. » Zanpakutô Spirit Personality:
Zanpakuto reflect their weilders. This is true no matter what zanpakuto is being used. Yamawaru is no different. There are similarities and differences between her and her shinigami...but neither of them will admit it. Yamawaru may take on a powerful appearance, but she behaves like a spoiled brat and expects everything to revolve around her, stubbornly dismissing anything that would draw away from this expectation. Of course, this is why her domain is a mountain village. Just like Croisima, Yamawaru enjoys things she believes to be pleasurable.
Just one look at the treasure within her lair would be able to prove this, as it does not only contain money, but fine garments and even finer alcohol. However, she is not fully selfish. Like any childish being, she will reward those who bend the knee and placate her. However, she is not incapable of taking things seriously. When the need presents itself, Yamawaru proves to be rather sharp, in spite of her childish nature. » Inner World:
Yamawaru's domain is that of a mountain surrounded by a village. The village looks middle-classed and reasonably wealthy. Unsurprisingly, the village itself has a very deep Japanese aesthetic, and is rather surprisingly expansive, even being large enough to have both Shinto Shrines and Buddhist Temples. The village itself is built both at the foot of the mountain, and leading up the slope, with buildings becoming more and more sparse as one ascends.
The final thing that one would find upon ascending to the highest point above the village--which remains nowhere near the lair of Yamawaru, but is still within easy reach for her--is an altar with an open roof. The only thing in this altar is a Seisen Box which is always laden with coins, seemingly in payment to the spirit. Of course, this is admittedly unnecessary, as within the mountain is a horde of treasure befitting a dragon's lair. Where these coins come from is unknown, as she is the only being that exists in this world, save for Croisima and Toukeru.
As for the ambiance of the village and mountain itself, both places are immensely quiet. One could very easily hear their own heartbeat if they so desired. However, it is not with complete silence. If one listens carefully when the wind blows, they can hear the ever so faint sounds of laughter being carried upon the very wind itself. When Croisima is meant to encounter Yamawaru, the laughter has the pitch of that of a child. When she is to encounter Toukeru however, the laughter becomes warped and distorted. Along with this, the village and mountain find themselves blanketed in a thick fog. » Zanpakutô Appearance:
In it's sealed state, Yamawaru takes on the form of a katana that is of above average length, almost as if it were designed to be proportional to someone taller than it's user. That being said, it has several unique features. The first of these features is the gold cloth which is wrapped around a handle so white it almost seems to be glowing. The next truly unique feature is the Tsuba. Strangely enough, the tsuba takes on the shape of a six pointed star. Typically, this would be where the uniqueness of a Zanpakuto ends. However, there are two more oddities about Yamawaru. Firstly, the sheathe.
Whereas most are completely undecorated aside from strategic cloth wrappings to determine how the weapon is carried, Yamawaru has an ornate, golden star print running down both sides of the sheathe. And perhaps the second most odd part of all..the sheathe itself has an extra feature. At the bottom of the sheathe is a chain. Not a very large one. It is comprised of ten links in total, and does not appear to be overly thick. But it is there, and is very clearly part of the sheathe, as the chain that is attached to the sheathe melds seamlessly into it. However, this is not the biggest oddity. The biggest oddity would be what the sheathe is comprised of. While it has all of the dressings and appearance of a wooden sheathe, the sheathe of Yamawaru is actually comprised of metal, allowing for a far more potent sealed ability than would be allowed if the sheathe was only wooden.» Sealed Zanpakutô Power:
By taking the sheathe and spinning it by the chain, Yamawaru can generate a strong barrier in front of the spinning sheathe. The barrier will dissipate the moment the sheathe stops spinning. The reason for this lies in the method in which the barrier is generated. As the sheathe is spun, it releases a pitched hum, typically too high to be heard. This hum combines with both Croisima's Reiatsu and ambient Reishi in the air to create a shimmering, almost vibrating barrier.
I. Shikai» Shikai Release Phrase:
Tickle Til' They Giggle, Yamawaru [Melee Only]
Open Your Mouth, Yamawaru [Full Release]» Shikai Release Action:
Yamawaru is an odd type of Zanpakuto, due to the nature of the spirit within it. Because the spirit is a rather childish sort, and it has two different release phrases with degrees of power, the actions are different for each 'version' of the weapon.
[Melee Only] When activating the melee only form of Yamawaru, Croisima must take the weapon and spin it between her fingers in a counterclockwise manner. As it spins, the sheathe of Yamawaru disintegrates and forms into the chain, and the blade itself morphs into its new form.
[Full Power] When activating Yamawaru's full power, however, the release action is very different. Croisima must hold Yamawaru's sheathe out vertically in front of her before running the blade of Yamawaru along it, causing a reverberation, and activating the weapon's transformation. Should the weapon already be in the Melee Only form, however, she must spin the weapon by the very final link of the chain while stating the true release phrase.» Shikai Appearance:
Yamawaru's shikai takes on a very odd form. The weapon itself is very oversized, being nearly twice as tall as Croisima herself. The blade of the weapon makes up the majority of this size, and takes on the blade shape of a Dadao. The blade itself is exceptionally wide, so much so that if planted in the ground, Croisima is capable of hiding herself behind the width of the blade. As for the condition of the blade itself, it seems very well maintained, with no chips or notches in it.
The blade itself has a surprisingly large handle, which is fused to the spine of the blade, and extends far enough out from the blade of Yamawaru to be treated as a two handed or one handed weapon. This handle is pure white, wrapped in golden cloth, just like in its sealed state. However, unlike its sealed state, this handle has no tsuba or guard of any kind, as the handle is a single, unbroken piece which is fitted against the spine of the blade, bolted to it in several places to fit the handle properly.
The final trait of Yamawaru's shikai is a large chain that comes from the bottom of the handle. The chain seems to have no set length, always appearing to be as long or as short as Croisima needs. This chain also seems to be fused to the bottom of Yamawaru's handle, much like how the chain of the weapon's sealed state is fused to the sheathe. » Shikai Abilities:
Yamawaru could initially be mistaken for a melee-type zanpakuto, as its oversized form makes it incredibly powerful to swing and crush opponents with raw power. However, its physical aspects are only a side of its potency, as the user can release the zanpakuto under a secondary release phrase, allowing it to completely function as a melee zanpakuto to conceal its true nature.
The true nature of Yamawaru however is tied to its 'singing'. As the sword is swung it makes a screeching sound, typically this is done through either swinging it or spinning it on the chain. Those that hear the sound of this zanpakuto fall under an illusion that alters their perception of sound, causing all sounds to simply sound as laughter. Someone with higher focus or mental perception could naturally notice the issue, join the dots and realize but even so it can be difficult to deal with when one cannot tell whether the sounds coming from an opponent's mouth are an incantation or simple taunting on their part. Shikai Weaknesses:Large:
Yamawaru is cumbersome, not hard to wield as it is weightless for its wielder to use but its size will make it hard to use it tight spaces.Skill:
Using it as a ranged weapon requires a lot of skill on its wielder's part.Illusion Counter:
Yamawaru's illusion of changing all the sounds to laughter only applies whenever the blade is in motion, this is because of many microscopic holes along the blade that pass air through it. Because of this if one were to clog up the blade's tiny holes or prevent the sword from moving then the illusions wouldn't be able to materialise.Allies:
It affects allies as well.
» Bankai Release Phrase:
"Bankai. Close Your Eyes, Yamanemuru (山眠る, Sleeping Mountain)."
» Bankai Release Action: The user spins the shikai above their head, calling the release phrase before the bankai takes shape.
» Bankai Appearance: Upon using the activation phrase, the bankai takes the form as the chain and blade become a large serpentine dragon construct made of steel with a chain-link body that extend from the user's right arm which has become encased in an armored metal carapace. The dragon is about one-hundred meters long.
» Bankai Abilities: Yamanemuru's power takes the illusion based power of its shikai to new levels. Being so large the dragon is so difficult to stop the air from moving through its body, generating a permanent sound but unlike the laughter; it is a loud hum that reverberates around the battlefield. By hearing the sound a person's eyesight is frozen, not that their eyes do not move but the image that they saw becomes all the eyes can perceive until the humming stops.
The left arm armor filters reiatsu from leaving the body, making it harder to detect her somewhat but given that the right arm is still exposed the energy is still able to be detected possibly but much easier to conceal. While the target is incapacitated the dragon can attack as necessary.
» Bankai Weaknesses:
Hearing Based: A person that is deaf or destroys their ability to hear will become immune to the Bankai's ability.
Generation: The ability can be stopped by preventing the air from moving through the bankai. If it cannot generate a hum then the ability is null.
Energy Sensing: A person can still use other senses, including their ability to perceive energy, making it possible to potentially continue past it. The ability also does nothing to defeat a different form of visual perception such as echolocation.
I. Inner Hollow/Mask» Inner Hollow Name:
Toukeru» Inner Hollow Description: » Inner Hollow Personality:
Hollows by nature, are rather destructive forces. Inner hollows however, tend to be warped reflections of the people that they are within. This is the case with Toukeru. Comparing him to Croisima would be like looking in a carnival mirror. Where Croisima is generous and giving, Toukeru is very selfish. Where Croisima has a case of moderate hedonism, Toukeru shows to have seemingly limitless greed. Unlike Croisima, who fights for the sake of helping others, Toukeru fights simply because he enjoys hurting others.
While both Croisima and Toukeru are very confident, stubborn beings, Croisima's stubbornness comes from determination. Toukeru on the other hand is almost blindly stubborn, which had led to near endless clashes with Yamawaru when Croisima was younger, along with many attempts to take over Croisima's body. Like most inner hollows, Toukeru is a very abrasive sort, but not to the degree one might expect. He does have respect for the other beings he is forced to interact with, after all. But not so much that it would stay his tongue..yet. » Inner Hollow Powers and Traits:
Plasmic Acid: Fire. A substance known for being able to destroy most anything through sheer heat. A power that once upon a time might have gone to the shinigami that has fed his existence. Acid. A substance known for its corrosive potential. In theory, combining the traits of these two substances would be rather horrific for anything engulfed by it. This horrifying concoction is Toukeru's primary power. However, to call it Acidic Fire would be a touch misleading. True, the substance that he generates and manipulates appears for all that witness it to be flame.
Once upon a time, that was indeed all it was. However, Toukeru is the spawn of a hollow who was known for intense sadism. This has allowed for a far more potent acidic touch to be possessed, true. But over time, this caustic nature has engulfed his original power, which was to create fire. When this first happened, it was a very painful experience, and has left Toukeru's hands permanently scarred a deep purple. However, the results were well worth the pain. What once were mere flames are something entirely different now. If one is truly wishing to split hairs, what Toukeru controls now is not fire. It is an exceedingly potent acid that exists as the fourth state of matter: Plasma. Toukeru is capable of both generating and manipulating this substance with exceeding ease.
Caustic Existence: Most all hollows have a touch that is inherently acidic. For Toukeru however, this goes further than most. Toukeru's energy as an inner hollow and as a being is inherently toxic. This is because his entire being exists as the result of being the spawn of a hollow who was known for immense sadism, attached to a Shinigami. This has caused every ability that Toukeru has displayed to take on some kind of acidic quality, and has even granted control to abilities that would otherwise be passive, such as his Acidic Touch.
Modified Acidic Touch: Due to Toukeru's Caustic Existence, his Acidic Touch no longer a passive ability. It is instead an ability that he can activate. Because of this, it can be focused into individual parts of his body. However, his Acidic Touch is not only controllable because of his Caustic Existence, it is also wildly enhanced. As such, it is always one rank higher than what Croisima has access to.
Acid Generation: A subpower created by Toukeru's ability to control his acidic touch. By fully concentrating his acidic touch into one body part, he is able to produce an acid of similar viscosity to water, which he may use as he pleases. This liquid acid is less potent than his Plasmic Acid, however. It should be noted that he is also capable of focusing his acidic abilities inward, allowing him to breathe out a cloud of acid on the same level as this acid.
Enhanced Durability: Toukeru is a wildly stubborn and relentless being. As such, he has clashed with Yamawaru and Croisima many times in their younger years. He has always been able to recover due to being part of Croisima's soul and having access to regeneration as well. But over time, this has led to his body generating more and more durable flesh and bone every time, making Toukeru even harder to damage. » Hollow Mask Appearance: » Vizard Powers:
As well as all of the basic Hollow powers typically gained by donning a hollow mask, Croisima gains the following traits and abilities:
Caustic Energy Infusion: While donning her mask, Croisima's Reiatsu is infused with Toukeru's inherently caustic energy, adding a dissolving quality to any offensive or binding kido she casts, as well as giving her sword Acidic Qualities on par with his own. This is a passive power, as Toukeru and Croisima cannot change the nature of his Reiatsu. Because of this, Croisima's Reiatsu takes on a seemingly boiling quality.
Acid Generation: A power that has been reluctantly shared with Croisima. Donning her mask allows Croisima to utilize Toukeru's ability to generate liquid acid. She may generate the acid from any point of her body, and can use the acid as she desires. However, she may also generate it from Yamawaru, giving the blade far more potent Acidic Qualities.
Cero Disolución: While Croisima's normal Cero is indeed inherently caustic by the nature of the hollow energy used to create it, her own Reiatsu typically heavily dilutes it, making it do little more than leave behind slightly worse than normal burns. Cero Disolución was the solution created to fix this. To fire a normal Cero, Croisima gathers energy in the palm of her hand before creating a fist and swinging. Cero Disolución is fired differently from this.
Instead of making a fist, Croisima lays her entire hand flat, pointed at her target. The energy used to create her Cero engulfs her hand as she also generates Acid from the palm of her hand, mixing into the Cero to add a heavily caustic nature to it, making the burns left behind from being caught in it far more severe, and can even dissolve away skin and muscle from a sufficiently weak victim.
