The Hunt... For Friendship! [Honey/Keiko]
Thu Jan 16, 2020 12:44 pm
A rather tall presence was hopping along the Rukongai this time of day, one with golden hair and a wolf tail and ears. Honey had set out with the goal to make a new friend. She had finished what she had to do for the day, and so far she wasn't called upon to do anything else, so she saw this as a free period before sunset. Honey's house was really starting to feel.. Quiet. She couldn't describe the feeling well, just that it was too quiet for her. She had approached several figures in the street, having premade some cards with common phrases to get the message across. She thought using her voice would scare people, after all.
Though it wasn't going too well, she either scared off the spirits who dwelled the streets, creeped them out with quietly following behind them, or just got people mad with her when she tried showing them cards. Some even thought she was trying to sell them something, which didn't really help her case. Did this stop Honey? No. She was determined to find someone who would stop and talk to her, even if it took hours!

Kuchiki Keiko
What? A card? Are they trying to sell her something? Keiko was walking along the rodes, making her way from Seventh Division back home. She just finished her shift at her internship, so the only thing to do now was go home and prepare for tomorrow. Given her distaste for staying home too long, she was always sure to make this walk back home long and leisurely, and admittedly that invited some troublemakers and unwanted presences here and there. This was a little new, though.
The intent was to take the card, politely give thanks but decline, and go back on her way. The difference this time was that the card didn't look like a flyer or anything. On it was a greeting message, given to her by a large, kemonomimi type person. What a strange troublemaker this one was. Oh well, noble propriety demanded that she at least return the greeting.
"H-hello?"

Honey was excited when someone finally stopped and acknowledged her! She didn't look or smell very strong, but Honey didn't care about shape or size that much when it came to treatment. While she didn't show much on her face, her tail was wagging like mad, as she pulled another premade card out, showing the much shorter girl,
"My name is Honami Morimoto, I normally go by Honey."
Her handwriting was surprisingly beautiful despite her appearance, very obviously cursive-inspired. Shuffling her cards, she pulled out another and presented it to her,
"May I have your name?"
Once more, another shuffle, she presented another card beside the previous one, "I'm trying to meet new people!"

Kuchiki Keiko
Why aren't they speaking? Keiko wanted to ask this allowed, but that seemed a bit presumptuous and rude. Keiko was sometimes curious to a fault, but she had manners. She was also a believer in returning gestures, actions, words, so on and so forth, so she almost started communicating with Honey by writing back. The only reason she didn't was the lack of writing utensils and a platform for it. So, instead, she just spoke normally.
"Uh, hi. My name's Kuchiki Keiko. Nice to meet you, Honey. Uh, isn't this a bit of a weird setting to do that, though? Go around meeting new people by just walking around the street and handing them cards with messages on them? Most people would get the wrong idea."
To be completely honest, Keiko wasn't sure of herself even while talking to Honey. This could still be a quirky ice-breaker that was going to lead into the fluffy woman trying to sell her something.

The instant the name 'Kuchiki' left the girl's lips did her knees touch the ground, nice and roughly as she meant to lower herself in the presence of such a family's member. Though Honey didn't really get the whole politics behind it, she knew for absolute certain that the Kuchikis had many strong members, and name recognition alone put her 'below' the girl in front of her.
Even with Keiko's explanation of how strange it was for her to run around handing people cards, Honey didn't quite get why it would be an issue. Writing was how she spoke, and it would be easier to just write basic greetings on cards to present to people, how was that weird? Of course she was having that whole conversation in her own head, but she only fully understood and worked with, 'Cards aren't okay'.
Instead, she pulled out her notepad from her bag, and began writing in it, having to flip through not many pages to find a clean one. A few pen scratches later, she presented the message on the page,
"This is how I talk. I do not understand how it is weird, but if cards are not okay, I will not use them ma'am!"
She nodded continuously as Keiko read the page, as if to indicate a 'yes, this is true!'. She'd tilt her head, awaiting a response, like one of those dogs tilting their head to indicate listening.

Kuchiki Keiko
Keiko practically jumped a little at Honey's sudden drop. This never really happened before. Some people did bow to her on first meet when she mentioned her name, which was typically most appropriate and respectable, but long past are the days of this sort of reverence. Soul Society had come a long way in regards to how they view nobles, that being much closer to how nobles are viewed in the Living Realm.
"H-hey, you can get up. Just a good bow would've been fine, but this--this is too much."
Keiko stepped forward to even pull Honey up by the elbows, the whole while looking around to make sure people weren't staring. Then, when Honey pulled out the notepad and wrote things out instead, the girl wore a bit of a troubled face.
"Can you not speak verbally? If you can't speak verbally, then the cards are fine. Also, you don't have to call me ma'am. Kuchiki-san will be fine."

Even if Honey was a tall sort of beast, she definitely didn't appear heavy, though when Keiko would merely try to pull her up by the elbows, Honey did not budge, even an inch. The difference in strength was clear, as Honey hardly struggled as Keiko tried to pull her up, the hybrid insisting on staying lower than her with a gentle shake of her head, her stray hair shifting around with her insistent head shaking.
Honey wrote, even if Keiko was trying her hardest to pull her up, and soon pointed at the lower part of the notepad's page that was previously clean,
"I am able to, however I do not do human speech tastefully. So I stay silent. If writing is fine, then I will write, ma'am. If Kuchiki-san is better than ma'am, then I will do Kuchiki-san, Kuchiki-san. I also will shrink if my current appearance is unsatisfactory."
Suddenly, within mere seconds did the hybrid turn from a 9 foot tall girl, to a form more resembling a young child, not too young to look babyish but not too old. And with her lapse in concentration to preventing Keiko from pushing her back up, did Keiko find herself to be raising this smaller version of the wolf woman.
Honey wagged her tail, despite her features not totally indicating happiness, as she held the notepad in her much smaller hands.

Thread is being auto-resolved. Keiko and Honey continued insisting their sides, the former on not being so subservient, the latter claiming it is necessary. Eventually, Keiko asserts that if Honey is looking for friends, and they do indeed become friends, then Honey cannot continue acting like there is a hierarchy between the two of them. Since that line of logic makes sense for the wolf-girl, she accepts, and the two affirm a newly established friendship.
