Regardless of Warnings [Verdada, Sabriel]
Wed May 08, 2024 10:29 am
So goddamn close~
How close had she been lately? To gettin fuckin iced? It was pretty exciting, but at the same time, she couldn't continue her research like this now could she? Ahhh and thats where she got the idea.
To visit someone who seemed to be in a similar situation as her.
That's what got her on Sabriel's trail. Following that familiar spiritual pressure. That smile of hers widening as she stood at the edge of a tall building, sighing to herself as she slowly took a drag on her cigarette, the bloody remains of a hollow strewn across the rooftop. Well, not quite remains.
It was still alive, and regenerating so very slowly. IT's head and upper body, sans the other half and its arms, was still writhing next to her, her own savage strength having picked the creature apart, a lopsided little smile framed her lips as she glanced down at it's form. It's shaky spiritual pressure was flickering. A little something to get the arrancar's attention. One didn't just walk into a spider's web after all. She wanted to draw the woman out. Or maybe get her to try and run.
Oh that'd be pretty damn fun wouldn't it?
It'd been a while since she'd chased anyone.

A chuckle escaped the woman in question, arms folded across her shapely chest as she sensed the dire state of the Hollow nearby. She was leaning up against a building, curious as to just what was going on. The fact that the creature had not simply been put out of its misery made it rather apparent that there was more to the event than simply chance and Sabriel, as vain and self conceited as she was, could not help but ponder if it was supposed to be a challenge. To her. It was rather odd if true, as those who knew her could simply have thrown their underwear at her in order to capture the woman’s attention or something.
Her curiosity would get the better of her though and deciding to act upon the bait, the Arrancar would turn and Sonido away, attempting to draw whoever sought her into chasing. Calypso’s training had helped her to develop her speed and while she was still not exactly a genius with the ability, she felt as though she could keep her admirer at bay for a little bit. Honestly, she expected to be caught, which was just fine. Perhaps then she would get the full story as to what this was all about.
Her spiritual pressure, if it could give off an impression, would be this.
Come and get me.

No sooner had Sabriel flexed her spiritual pressure, which was more or less the universal 'come and get me' when it came to controlling it, than did the remains of the hollow suddenly become airborne. Flung with full strength and speed by Verdada, such that the creature's head popped as it sliced through a billboard, shattering into several sharp fragments before peppering the road. Not QUITE enough of a sharpshoot to actually hit the woman, but it was swiftly followed by the crackle of Verdada's arrival off in the distance, but of course she didn't break into a run just yet.
Instead, the woman raised an arm and smiled from ear to ear. Calling out to the other arrancar.
"Where do you think you're going?~ Is that any way to treat an acquaintance?~"

The voice was certainly familiar and Sabriel came to a stop, turning around to face her fellow Arrancar. She remembered their last encounter well enough although the dark haired woman did not recall Verdada being quite so showy with her violent side then. Still, the lavender eyes of Sabriel were quick to look over the woman, as she did to practically everyone she met. Just what was going through the cigarette smoker's head to be in such a murderous mood?
“Violent displays have never turned me on that much.” Sabriel replied with a small smirk, still eyeing the other woman. “I figured that after our last encounter, you would not be all that eager to meet me again. Still, I cannot say that it is unpleasant to see you again, my dear. What is it that made you so eager to see my flawless features again so soon?”

"Sabriellll~ You don't have to be so coy." Verdada chuckled softly, walking calmly towards the arrancar as they turned to speak with her. In no particular rush as she slowly corroded the distance between them. Ugh, she was reminded of why she'd responded to the woman the way she had before. What an unsavory phenotype. But that didn't matter for the time being, rather she held up a finger.
"I have been a bit inspired you see~ Well that and I've undergone a bit of growth. I won't bore you with the details. But my own ability to return to my true form in ressureccion was ... limited until very recently." She hummed as she slowly closed into Sabriel's personal space, and that smile of hers widened. "And you know, wouldn't you know it. I'm pretty special. I had ... NO idea what my powers were going to be. I've got no memories of ever being a normal hollow ya know?~ And so I didn't know what to expect. And now? I've finally been able to use them." She smiled all the wider.
"And so I've found myself very fascinated with the powers of other hollows. And I couldn't help but remember you~ So ....physically unimpressive. And yet unafraid of me." She leaned into Sabriel's personal space now and tilted her head to the side.
"I'm curious why that was~"

If Sabriel did not know any better, she would have thought that Verdada was complete and utterly stoned. Her fellow Arrancar could not have been any more different than from their first encounter which was most certainly intriguing. The last time they had met, she had considered the woman before her to be rather…devoid of certain aspects and honestly, the two were at completely opposite ends of the personality spectrum. Yet today, Sabriel could not help but find the woman’s change in persona rather fascinating.
Verdada was so close that Sabriel could smell the scent of her cigarettes but rather than move away, the lavender eyed woman did what she always did in such a situation. She reached out with a hand and placed it affectionately on the cheek of the other woman. If she slapped it away, so be it, she did not care.
“Congratulations are in order then and I certainly hope that you come to enjoy your new found strength.” She replied, sounding genuine enough. “You want to know why I was unafraid of you? The answer is simply that I am confident enough in my own abilities. I do not know what powers you have gained since our last meeting but tearing apart a Hollow like a wild beast is not even close to being enough to intimidate me. You can see that every day in Hueco Mundo.”
Leaning in as well so that her lips were mere inches from Verdada’s, she would add. “I can deal with brutes, you see, my powers are tailor made for them. I may not be the most powerful in terms of physical might but I can turn my greatest enemy into my most loyal worshipper if I desire it.”
She paused and spoke yet again, a smile gracing her lips. “You are a lot more attractive when you talk like that, you know? A little personality goes a long way.”

Verdada smirked slightly, but made no comment as the woman's hand shifted to her cheek. Simply speaking? She'd been on the job the last time they met. She was protecting the town for some cash, as well as the fact that she had been taking apart hollows to study them. She did not enjoy disruptions when she was working. But this particular location had no real value to her.
In that instant, Sabriel almost lost her hand, and most of her body. As for just a brief instant, the instinct to grab the woman's wrist, snap the bones in her grasp, and then stomp the woman into the pavement, coursed through her mind. After all, Sabriel was under the impression that she could stop her. So why not conduct an experiment and find out if she could? But alas~ She could not risk that. There was, after all, a chance that Sabriel was full of shit, and that the woman, along with whatever useful powers she held, would expire with such a sudden and vicious attack.
So instead, she reached up, and gently grasped the woman's wrist, and let her head gently cant to the side as she met the woman's little escort routine.
"Is that right? That is, exactly the kind of answer I'm looking for~" She chuckled, and gently tapped her finger along the woman's wrist.
"I have a proposition for you, Sabby. Why don't you go ahead and let me study you and your powers? I'd VERY much be fascinated with how you do what you do. I've always wanted a volunteer subject, yaknow?" She chuckled, and gently tightened her grip on Sabriel's wrist. Painfully enough as that smile of hers went even wider, and she gestured to the chunks of Hollow that were all over the pavement. "I really suck at handling the involuntary ones. Its soooo hard to be delicate when you're as strong as I am. So waddaya say?~ Will you be my lovely little subject?~" She asked sweetly, her head gently canting to the side as she did. The look in her eyes would be all the afirmation that Sabriel would need to understand this situation.
Either Sabriel would volunteer to cooperate. Or Verdada was going to tear her apart until she was forced to use her abilities.

The grip on her wrist was unpleasant to say the least and while Sabriel did not feel as though there was any lasting damage at that point, it was hardly enjoyable. Her expression hardened slightly but as usual, it did not seem to cause her to lose composure and the dark haired woman’s eyes merely flashed briefly with discomfort. She would of course prefer not to have to spend time later regenerating her body parts, as while she was fairly skilled with the ability, the Arrancar would rather be spending that time doing something more fun.
There was something else, a factor which perhaps oddly caused a slight knowing smile to cross the lips of the Arrancar. Had she not had this conversation with another a short time ago? Sabriel recalled her conversation with Catherine, another woman who seemed on the face of things to be rather…cold upon first meeting. There had been no beef between them or anything like that and just as Verdada was asking now, Catherine had asked the exact same thing, albeit without the threats. It seemed that her powers were a curiosity, a fact that brought Sabriel no shortage of amusement.
Returning her focus back to Verdada, she would answer, somehow still finding an opportunity for a little dry humour. “I would be more than happy to show off my powers if that is what you desire but that would be much easier to do without a broken wrist. You would have a lot more success using charm than threats with me, my dear. I am curious though as to why my powers in particular intrigue you so?”
A chuckle escaped her lips at that point, adding a second question to her first. “Do I get a reward for satiating your curiosity?”

Oh she could tell Sabriel didn't enjoy it. But that was necessary when it came to handling Arrancar. You had to be a bit firm. Especially when she had shown an inclination towards running. Still, at that question, she gave a smirk and lightly pressed her thumb onto the center of the woman's palm. Gently pushing their wrist back until it reached the very end of it's range of motion. She didn't push further, but there would definitely be tension along the length of the woman's forearm, which Verdada glance down toward.
"You're weak. I'm nothing to really write home about, but I have a feeling even some average Arrancar would probably fold you like a chair. But you seem pretty confident. Even pushing personal space. Hollows like you don't survive without having tricks. And tricks are my favorite." She stated simply, gently flicking her wrist, producing a smooth, white and brown feather, which she promptly slipped into Sabriels' hair behind her ear like a little decoration.
"You let me do my studying, and I'll see about what I can do to reward you. So long as it doesn't cause me long term trouble, I really don't mind what you ask for." She stated calmly. Oh she was fairly sure she had a decent idea of what Sabriel might want. Sure, there was the possibility of being proven wrong, but for the time being? She had no problem properly compensating for data. If there was one thing she'd learned from Ajora, it was that Information was far more valuable than temporary discomfort.

The pressure on her wrist and arm was becoming rather more painful now and Sabriel’s eye twitched with pain. Verdada certainly seemed to know enough about anatomy to be able to push to the brink without actually snapping her wrist. Musing to herself briefly, the dark haired woman had to admit that she knew very little about her fellow Arrancar in truth. Their first meeting had been rather brief and Verdada had not been in the mood to divulge much back then. Mind you, Sabriel had been rather more pushy than usual when pestering the woman, which no doubt had an effect as well.
“No doubt there are Arrancar out there who could probably do as you say but physical strength is not the be all and end all when it comes to power. If it were then the brutes would be at the top of the food chain but that is not how it is, whether it be in this realm or our own. How do I deal with such opponents? It is rather simple. I manipulate them in one way or another, whether it be through speech, my body or if neither of those options work, my powers.” Sabriel answered whimsically. “I can turn the most muscle bound Hollow into my slave with just a touch of one of my abilities. Long enough for me to use them for my own ends.”
She had no idea what the feather that Verdada produced was all about but for the time being, Sabriel left it where it was. It was rather sweet if nothing else although she could not help but feel slightly wary.
She did smile as the other woman agreed to compensate her for her time, chuckling in response. “You will not have to worry about long term entanglements, my dear, all I ask for is a taste of what I missed the last time we met.” The connotations did not require a mastery in intellect to figure out.
Assuming Verdada would let go of her wrist, Sabriel would fold her arms across her chest and ask. “So, what or more precisely whom do you suggest that I use my abilities on? What exactly is your method of research?”
