Saisei | The Vandereich's Newest Recruit

The dreary afternoon sun had found itself hidden away behind the day's rain clouds. The dark grey sky left an ominous backdrop for the City of Light, the gentle rain leaving much to desire in regards to the weather. It was Saisei's third, maybe fourth day on 'base' with the Vandenreich. Trying his best to grow accustomed to living near others still, the boy had found his way to one of the many outdoor training facilities the organization had built up on the island fortress.

Helle had asked Saisei to come to the facility early the day before, her intentions of guiding the boy in the right direction made very clear. While it was awkward listening to the orders of others, the young boy didn't mind. The Vandenreich would help him seek the answers he needed, surely he could trust anyone and everyone associated with the organization and Cyrus himself. Nevertheless, Saisei arrived on site with nothing but the clothes on his back. Surely he wouldn't need anything else with someone like Helle at the helm.

As bare and simple as the facility seemed, Saisei knew that it was built in order to help those under the organization's order. Clearly, they knew what they were doing. Despite the pouring rain, the field set out before Saisei was relatively dry, filled with little to no equipment to keep the grounds as clean as possible. If anything, those coming to the City of Light would be working with some type of equipment of their own so it made sense in the long run.

Helle was nowhere to be seen, whether that meant the boy was blind or she simply hadn't arrived meant very little to him. Thoughts of their training and possible practice raced through his mind, his body moving on its own as he made his way to take his first steps onto the field.

As generic as it looked, the field itself was special in a sense compared to what some may assume an outdoor facility would have. The floor to the field matched the exact floor immediately outside of its vicinity. Not just that, but the entire floor of the City of Light. Mineral in nature, something clearly special to the island fortress. The changed nothing for the boy as he warmed up quietly to himself, the pinging of the rain around him leaving a gentle click in his ears.

"Well, guess there's nothing to do but wait at this point right?"

Saisei muttered to himself quietly, picking his feet up and jogging in place a small bit before beginning to stretch out his legs. Helle would arrive any moment now and the boy would finally start his journey here with the Vandenreich.

Good things were on the way.

“Yes. Deliver these papers... All of them. Yes. Mhmm. Thank you.” Finally, the daily routine was completed. Disgracing herself by allowing her posture to fail in her seat, Helle’s emerald eyes focused on the ceiling right above her in respite. However, there is no rest for the weary. As one task is completed, another shall surely take its place. At least what is to come, hopefully, brings the woman some form of entertainment. Her eyes move to her lone window to watch the rain fall. Though, her sudden excitement moves her from her seat in mere moments of her gawking as her clothing begins to fall as she prepares herself to change.

The crunch of metal on wet crystalline ground announces her arrival to the training facilities they had agreed upon. Dressed accordingly for potential combat, one would call Helle’s preparations a bit overkill. There is doubt in her mind that Saisei would show the potential to injure her gravely during their session, but she has goals in her mind that she desires to achieve with the young man. This is why she appears decked in full armor, excluding her helmet. Due to the emptiness within, it is simply a matter of entering the same area and seeing Saisei stretching. It seems they will have the facility for themselves, no foul play involved. Nope. No special orders given at all.

“Ah, Saisei. Preparing for our session I see.” She announces her arrival with a fair call out as she steps closer. “Do be forewarned. I may leave thou unable to walk.” Her smile is small and sweet, but the aura around her is far from innocent. Yet, she moves herself away from him to the center of the room. “However, first off, we will begin with simple meditation, preparing the mind for the strain we shall be enacting upon it. Come and sit.”

Saisei | The King's Reincarnation

Despite the incessant fall of the rain, it couldn't be more telling when the Captain arrived on the scene. As per usual, her nature was as imposing as ever. If it weren't for the helmet being off for a change, Saisei would see little difference between her and a high ranking officer. The boy brought himself to a halt, straightening himself out again before jogging his way to Helle. He was ready, whether he liked it or not.

Whether a joke or not, Helle's words worried Saisei if only a little. He wasn't the strongest or the fastest but the young man knew how to take care of himself. Nevertheless, her comment on being unable to walk was one met with concern, he'd rather wake up in the morning with legs still intact.

"Y'know, nothin' beats findin' myself workin' out with others here in the City. Not really used to bein' around folks, ever since I left home I've been a bit of a lone wolf, as they would say."

Saisei met Helle's smile head on, smiling in return as he finally found himself planted directly in front of her. While he didn't know much of what to expect he knew he'd learn something or another. After all, with people like Helle and Cyrus heading the Vandenreich he was bound to learn a thing or two.

Meditation was first. Focusing wasn't exactly the boy's strong suit but Helle knew best, right? Shaking himself just a bit, the boy smiled once more before giving Helle the go signal.

"Whenever you're ready, lead the way Boss."

Saisei eased himself to the ground rather quickly, crossing his legs and straightening his spine. This was the extent of the boy's knowledge on meditation. To him, he saw many of the royalist sugiuarns practice meditation but never saw the real appeal behind it. He would follow orders however, for that was his role as a member of The Vandenreich. He had bosses, he had rules to follow.

“We all start one way or another. I was not known for my social aptitude during my youth. Though, look at me speak as if I am but a shriveled up shrewd. We both have many days before us.”

Helle rarely comes off as only being 4 years older than the teen displayed before her on the ground. Such minute details matter not however. Right now she is Saisei’s SubCaptain. Without delay, she moves herself behind the youngling looking over his posture and form. Hmm. She has the suspicion that this is not Saisei’s first time dealing with meditation. Still, this is not going to be a simple session where one will sit for hours focusing their mind for meaningless gain. No. Helle is a believer that, with action, comes growth. She has but only one goal in mind by having Saisei downed and cross legged.

“Good. Now, close your eyes and focus. Focus not on my voice or to your thoughts but focus inward. Every living being on this planet has Reiryoku within their body, no matter what shape it takes or how much they possess. What I desire is simple. Focus your mind on your inner energy and allow for it to coat your person. I have yet to witness your energy nor the strength of it. Do not hold back. Allow it all to express itself, and once I have sampled it, we will begin cultivating it and tending to it so it may grow.”

Surely, such a task is simple. Usually individuals show trouble in controlling keeping their energy in. Saisei, hopefully, will be able to allow Helle the chance to witness his energy near its purest expression. If not, Helle will simply have to change her approach to this situation.

Saisei | The King's Reincarnation

Helle was upfront with her instruction he seemed. With little time between comments, she noted what she wanted and felt was necessary from the young man. As one would, Saisei took her words to heart and responded in kind. His boss was clearly asking something from him, he would return.

"Yes Ma'am. You ask, I'll do."

Closing his eyes, the pink-haired boy took a deep breath in. Helle asked for Saisei to push everything from his mind. The world was a blank slate, the endless sea of black before him filled with nothing but that. Black. Helle asked for him to express himself as strongly and thoroughly as possible. Could Saisei truly do that?

While he and Helle may not be one in the same, Saisei knew that he would find himself looking to her for guidance. Letting the deep breath from before slowly escape his lips, the young man remained silent, the voidless sea before him gently coming into view. Without a word, energy began to ooze from his very being. Inch by inch, foot by foot, the amber-colored energy stretched far and wide. Each thing it came in to contact with found itself, whether living or not, gently enveloped in its grasp.

The once empty void of Saisei's mind became filled to the brim. While many things didn't take direct physical form, Saisei still identified each and every little detail of the one hundred yard span of his energy. The birds gently flying by in the afternoon rain, the men and women of the City. The world was open and as clear as ever to the boy, this was nothing new to him.

The flow of amber even lit the boy's Captain up like a beacon of light. Her armored figure, while not whole, was clearly shifting its way to and fro in his mind's eye. Saisei wasn't too sure if this is what she had asked for given her stance but nevertheless, he did what came to mind immediately. Honesty could only go so far.

"The City is pretty even in the dreary rain. I can imagine everyone feels the same who sticks around, huh?"

He looks peaceful. Helle’s inner thoughts did not control themselves. Of course, she would not comment so easily in such a manner, but it is hard to not find Saisei’s meekness admirable. He has given his entirety to following her orders and executing them to his best ability, the signs of a good soldier. However, soldiers are easy to comeby. What she wishes to discover is the young man underneath the eagerness, but all has its place, and now is not the place to try and excavate.

She has given him a simple task of exerting his spiritual energy. Helle did not know what to expect at first, but her mind quickly picks up on the sudden sprouting of his energy. It spilled forth applying pressure onto the world around them, even herself. She did not expect it to coat the air beyond the walls that surround them, but feeling it do so put a small smile on her face. There is room to grow of course, but Saisei has a developed energy that will not take much to nurture and blossom into something magnificent. However, after sampling it, Helle closed her eyes and allowed herself to truly experience it.

Strange, despite its invasiveness, Saisei’s energy seemed to only gravitate around the very edge of the world. It surveyed yet never intruded. She knows what he feels however. The world around them, coated by his presence, is as clear as day. Helle gave no response to his words besides a small nod that agreed with his observation. The City of Lights is rather beautiful in the rain. Though, it is after the rain that the city truly shows its brilliance, the sun’s light turning the city into a true world of light and color. Ah, it seems she has lost a bit of herself, Helle’s energy passively slipping from her person to intermingle with Saisei’s own. It is harmonious, an energy that flows like a river downstream slipping between Saisei’s energy but never trying to overcome. The richness and purity of it obviously way more intense than Saisei’s that, if truly exerted, would no doubt cause an individual of weakened resolve to choke and sputter.

“This, Saisei, is what you will become one day. I have no doubts in my mind. This comes with training, not only of the mind and body, but it requires resolve above all else. If you halfheartedly strive for whatever you are after, then, do not ever expect to reach it.”

Helle is quick to reem herself back in before her eyes open. “Now, let us begin. Rise and let us partake in an exhibition. I have measured your power. Let us move onto measuring your skill.” She turns away from him and walks a few yards away, turning back to face him, a serious expression painted on her face; her emerald eyes blazing with expectancy.

Saisei | The King's Reincarnation

While it was exactly for show, Saisei felt that using his energy for such a manner was always a spectacle. Taking his time and measuring out each and every inch of the fortress around him was as much a show as it was a tracking mechanic. Despite that, he was met with the oppressive force that was Helle's own. The young man rarely used his energy tracking for antagonistic reasons so of course he'd be overcome quickly by Helle and her boisterous spirit. Taking note and listening to his teacher well, he quieted himself down spiritually and stood.

"I hope I never come to that point. I learned early on in life that if I were to get anything done, it'd be through action. Nothing gets done when you fail to act, right? Failing is as bad as doin' nothin'."

What was a gentle smile on the boy's face quickly folded into a look of concern. Helle meant serious business. Well, anyone who looked to train someone beneath them would mean serious business, that didn't keep Saisei from feeling what seemed to be an overwhelming intensity from her.

Exhibition? What did the captain expect from such a fresh recruit? He couldn't believe what position he was being put in. Sure he wanted to train but from the sounds of it, Helle was hellbent on making this little training session go as far as it could for the young man. If an exhibition is what his boss wanted, Saisei could only oblige.

"Not exactly sure what ya mean ma'am but, as per usual you are the boss."

Saisei felt like attacking Helle was a bit out of the question, without really saying anything to him he didn't really know what she was looking for. Nevertheless, he had a few simple things in mind. The boy shifted his weight slightly to the left, digging his foot into the ground. The only ability Saisei could show for Helle would be one focused entirely on his energy.

Pressing his foot firmly against the marble flooring, the once whole ground began to silently crack beneath the weight of the boy's leg. The energy that previously enveloped the world around him in gentle amber now found itself entirely focused into Saisei's left leg. With yet another crack, the marble flooring finally gave way beneath the pressure exerted from the foot. Matching Helle's serious expression head on, he smiled.

"I'm not really sure what ya meant by an exhibition ma'am but hopefully this works for ya."

“Well, what I meant shall reveal itself.” Helle’s smile stayed as Saisei manipulated his own energy entirely into his leg. What a feat to crack the hardened floor of the training field. However, no compliments shall be given out for such. It is not the exertion of said energy that Helle desires to see at the moment. How it is used shall be her test for the young male.

Closing her eyes, Helle focused herself. It was nothing like Saisei’s. Instead of her energy piling within herself, the Reishi around her moved instead, commanded by her will alone. Into the floor before her it went coating the ground about her in a thin layer of Reishi that glowed a white coloring with a bluish outline. “First, I’ll test your reflexes.”

The floor cracked and split before four decently sized chunks erupting from the ground, a coat of Reishi around each chunk forming them into irregularly shaped balls. Hardening the Reishi around them, Helle’s eyes opened, her eyes brimming with power. “I hope you can keep up.” She chuckled out before directing her hand forward, arm outstretched, moments before the four chunks floating around her launched forward towards Saisei, each traveling at differing speeds.

Saisei | The King's Reincarnation

Before the boy had any real chance to speak up, Helle made her plan apparent. Saisei hadn't caught on to the fact she'd be putting him through a series of tests at first, but now, Helle made that abundantly clear. Saisei shuffled his feet as he back pedaled, releasing the previously stored energy in his leg and shifting it throughout his lower body. Skidding to a halt, he couldn't help let a playful smile escape. It had been a long, long time since Saisei was able to workout to his full potential. Maybe joining the Vandenreich had more perks than finding himself.

"What do you mean ke-" Cut off in an instant, the ground beneath the duo shifted to and fro before finally cracking. Crunch. The Reishi around the facility quickly came barreling forward, wrapping its way around the ground and separating it from its sheathe. As if she were sending a message, the massive boulders were a clear indication of Helle's seriousness. Alright, two can play at that game

"I'll try my best."

The energy build up from before was clearly intentionally from Saisei, his legs pulsating with the rather stable energy. Keeping his distance was the play, shuffling backward further in order to create a bit of distance from the slower boulders. Then, once reaching a satisfactory distance, Saisei planted his feet into the ground and rocketed forward, using the energy built up in his lower half to propel him.

The plan was simple to follow, the boy's body weight shifting from left to right as he sprinted forward. One jump to the left was enough to dodge the first boulder. The second, however, was another story. Just as fast as the first came and went, the second was already upon the boy. Quickly tripping over himself, Saisei plummeted to the ground, chest flat against the earth to 'dodge' the second boulder. With a snicker, he raised his head to peek towards Helle.

"Whoops, hehe..."

Saisei got up and dusted him off before bracing himself once more. The energy piled within his legs oozing its way upward to his upper body. Being fast wasn't everything it was cracked up to be, he'd need to be strong too. For that very reason, Saisei lowered himself into a stance that would prepare him for the next two boulders coming towards him.

"Fire at will, Boss."

What a slip. Helle would have allowed herself to laugh if she weren’t busy focusing on controlling the Reishi empowered rubble. Saisei managed to dodge two of them, the second in a weird way, but he’ll have to show much more prowess if he wished to survive this session without too many bruises. It seems things will only get interesting from here.

With a twitch of her finger, the other two balls of rubble fly forward, each curving in their path, one coming for his left, the other for his right. At the same time, Helle allowed for the other two pieces of rubble to float upwards above Saisei’s head as if in overwatch. If the male shows capable of dealing with the first two rubble, almost immediately, the ones above him will fall downwards forcing him to react to both at the same time. Either way, if he is hit or not, all four rubble will back off and begin floating around him erratically.

Now at this point, he will be forced to destroy the rubble or continuously dodge the relentless attack patterns Helle is attacking him with. Much like objects within a hurricane, the plan is to be as sporadic as possible as the rubble would enter into Saisei’s space before pulling out leaving it up to him to stay on his toes and keep his senses sharp: one from behind, another from the front, the same one from behind suddenly above him, followed by the other two coming at him from both sides. This will continue on and on until something extraordinary occurs.
