What a boring, uneventful day to restock on - probably perfect. Between moving in, starting work, and other activities of varying annoyance levels, she almost didn't notice how dangerously low her food supply was getting. She really needed to stop eating out, always made her lose track... Either way, her need for snacks and other easy to prepare foods was dire, and that led her to the nearest convenience store.

Any onlookers would probably be struck with shock to see what looked to be a grade schooler come in and start taking shelves worth of snacks and quick things like instant ramen, eventually pulling a large bag of questionably nutritious items - not that her stomach discriminated in the slightest, food was food no matter how shitty for you it was to her. Taste was a whole other concern, but she didn't figure anything she picked up would be disgusting.

She'd grunt, pulling the tote full of items along with her, though perhaps she had packed a few too many things... That was okay, once she paid she had her own way home, but it was a matter of getting to the counter...

...Wait a minute, something's not right, she'd squint, looking to and fro for the odd (well, odd to her) presence, ...That's not what Shinigami smell like...

Her attention would soon be pulled to a blonde young man, appearing to be doing his own business - the source of the odd presence.

"Uh. Hey, blondie? Scuse me? Could you help me out?" She'd call out to him, nodding her head to the tote bag. Even if she naturally felt sussed out by a potential Shinigami in her midst, it never hurt to learn more.

Uriel Sancroix | Half Blood

Uriel stood out in most settings due to his height, being slightly over seven feet tall in his armor and just shy of it in civilian clothes. So it was only natural that some people approached him at times, for whatever reason. Some wished to speak with him, mostly due to his position with the Vandenreich, while others were just morbidly curious. Regardless of the reason he treated most people with respect and patience which was notable.

Today Uriel was at the store picking up some sundries and the like for Alastair, something he was sure others might do as well. But that didn’t mean he wouldn’t take the extra step to ensure his friend was recovering well, with very little resistance. He was persistent and bullheaded enough that he wouldn’t be dissuade.

He was currently debating between one type of toilet paper, or another, when some small child approached him. Oh they needed help?

“No problem, Kiddo. What you need help with?” He’d offer a smile, the special operations soldier almost like an actual beacon of sunshine.

Kiddo... Her brow twitched slightly at that age-old complaint, but she disregarded her feelings. All for the sake of getting this shiny guy's deal down...

"My bag's heavy.." She'd give him an awfully pitiful tone, looking down to the tote that was absolutely loaded with what was clearly junk food, "I ran outta snacks and food at home, so... I really need to pay for and get all of this back, but I don't wanna rip my only bag..."

She felt kind of gross using that same sad puppy tone she'd heard so many children speak to her with throughout her life, but it was done in hopes to buy his sympathies, and he certainly looked like the kind of guy who'd fall for that. Was she being manipulative? Probably, but for this potential Shinigami... She couldn't feel as bad.

Still... He was definitely fucking weird in some way behind that glowing exterior, she could feel it.

"You should get that one, by the way," She had noticed him looking at toilet paper, quickly recognizing one of the better ones and pointing them out to him. Hey, if she was going to be pitiful, might as well balance it out.

“Running out of food? Well that can’t be well. Who is your family, is everything alright? I’m sure we can probably set you up with some resources in the Vandenreich, maybe a food bank.”

It seemed that this child lived in a home which might be experiencing poverty, and that could simply not fly. It was not only his duty to ensure the denizens of the city of light prospered, but that they could seek the help they needed. And further more, as he inspected the bag it was filled with food which held very little nutrition. Oh no, not at all.

It was supremely easy for him to lift the tote bag which he did so with no issues. Unfortunately for lilotto, she had chosen perhaps one of the most objectively helpful people in the Vandenreich. So with that he would definitely see this entire thing to conclusion.

“You definitely need some more healthy stuff, here let’s find some. Some protein, oh man why would your parents send only you?” He’d inquire as he already had his head turning attempting to find something like rice, potatoes, and meats in order to actually give this child some healthy shit. Uriel being the nearly seven feet tall monster that he was towered over most the rows.

“Don’t worry, kiddo. I’ll make sure your folk get the help ya’ll need.”

A glowing smile. Yep.

The moment Uriel started going on about parents and family and food banks and crap was when Liltotto realized, she fucked up. He was a guy who actually cared, holy shit. Well, sure as shit was time to hard backpedal on the misdirection in that case.

"Oh, shit, jeeze," She'd casually belt out the swear, dawning whatever a look of embarrassment she could muster on her plain face, "I'm not a kid, man. I don't got any folks, it's just stuff for me..."

Despite trying to give a more awkward tone, she sounded a lot more stiff than nervous when addressing the mistake, "I just moved here... I didn't expect the store to be so far away from my place. Sorry for the confusion..."

Some nervous hairtwirling was thrown in as she'd look rather calmly to the side. Even if she wasn't a kid, if he was such a good guy he'd probably still want to help a young woman living by herself, yeah? Right... She could find out more about him either way.

She wasn’t a kid?

Now this was a unique situation, if only because he half believed her. She looked extremely young, and short. Then again most people looked short to him nowadays. A hum would leave his throat, the smile on his face dimming slightly as he thought. Finally he’d offer a small nod.

“Alright, do you have some I.D. to confirm who you are? Not to hassle you, but I rather not have a kid out alone.” It was a fair trade off to prove she wasn’t a kid, although after she chose to provide some I.D. or not he’d still offer to help.

“Alright, I can still help you. But you should definitely get some more things than junk food. That ain’t good for your teeth, or liver, ya know?” He’d comment in a soft french accent, but the smile would return to his face seemingly holding no issue with helping the young woman out. He was generally a nice, and helpful, person to those he could.

This guy asking for I.D.? Damn, he really was on that good boy pretty boy shit... Seeming a little disgruntled, the ever gnawing sensation her stomach not helping her mood by any means, she'd dig into one of her pockets before pulling out a rather old looking wallet, popping it open and showing the young man her current I.D. Sure, it didn't display her ACTUAL birthday, rather a far more reasonable age that would place her at about 25, but either way it clearly was her own I.D., short in her picture and everything.

However, she'd gently scoff at the idea of any food being bad for her. Nothing but hollows or demons would make her under the weather, but she couldn't tell this guy that,

"Look man, I just need to refresh my stockpile... It's nice that you're concerned for my health, but I know what I can eat," She'd shrug, "So, what's your name? Like, you had to have seen mine on the I.D., might as well give yours."

Uriel exams the I.D. with the attention to detail one might expect from an immigration and customs officers verifying this woman was not an illegal. It was soon revealed she was actually speaking the truth, she just looked like a child. Well he supposed that was uniquely possible, she was just so short. And literally looking like a child. He handed the I.D. back without much of a hassle at that point.

“Checks out.” He’d comment letting her know she had his approval for now. “Suit yourself. Those types of foods can be quite delicious.” He’d remark as he lifted up the bag once more. “Uriel Sancroix, Administrator within the Todgestalten.” He’d introduce himself.

“So what exactly can I help with? I’m committed now, so let’s do this.”

"Yeeeah. Exactly." She'd speak with narrowed eyes, crossing her arms. She couldn't be SUPER mad at him, but it was annoying to be scrutinized to such an extent, however such measures would be given some backing with the young man's introduction - Uriel Sancroix, the fucking Administrator of the Todgestalten.

"Well. Your questioning makes a lot of sense now if that's the case," Of course it was, no kid was going to go terribly far impersonating high-level personnel. Honestly she would've imagined an older individual being in a position such as that - but then again this Vandenreich was relatively young, of course their numbers would reflect that. Her biggest concern however, was that it only added to the mystery of this man; His presence reeked of both Shinigami and Quincy, and while she understood this Vandenreich was open to a diversity of paths, by implication alone this man's existence was strange yet interesting.

"I mean, bag's heavy; would be nice getting some help with getting it to the counter, and a walk home." She'd glance outside, "...Oh shit, yeah it's kinda late. Don't let me interrupt your own shopping, though an escort home by a guy like you would be reassuring..."

Pure bullshit, but it's what any small lady living alone in the city would say. She wasn't actually worried for her own safety, but it was reason enough to rope this guy into a conversation... Though she did wonder if he had peered at the recruit pool recently.

“It is my duty to protect the Vandenreich, from all threats seen and unseen.”

He’d offer a small smile to the short woman, his presence heavy in the air. There was a certain confidence and allure that came to the operator, as if he was completely assured in his role. Furthermore, he was confident in his ability to carry it out. Although she posed no threat to his role, he was certainly one of the best people to act as a protector.

“It’s fine, my shopping is sparse. Just picking up some supplies for a friend, but I would be remiss to allow someone in need to carry on without aide.” The man would remark with the courtesy and respect one might expect out a knight, rather than a man who made his paycheck conducting shadow operations for the Vandenreich. Even with his giant height, there was a level of disarmingness which he had.

“Let’s get you to the counter, hopefully the line won’t be long.”
