Hook, line, and sinker. Coming from a fisherman's family clearly bore its fruit, and Ania, skilled as she was, demonstrated an incredible capacity to stretch those experiences over a variety of platforms. Her tongue was just as silver as the belly scales of a mackerel.

"De nehm's Ayla--Captain of dis' ship."

Ania stood tall and proud, with her chest puffed out to maximum.

"'Obbes, who' ye saw 'fore, is mah first meht. And you?"

Ania pointed her finger out, straight towards the siren, though with their proximity her finger simply pressed into the woman's chest.

"You are de' Quartermaster. If ye' have question, let me know."

HIROI KIGA

It's like playing cat and mouse. However, who's the mouse? Who's the cat? Does it matter? One of them is just plain stupid and gullible, and the other is just fooling around just because. Now, Hiroi isn't one for patting herself on the back, but she's definitely the smart one here. Why she got a name out of this girl and also has a free ticket to staying if she wants. All she has to do is help Ayla with whatever it is the girl wants. Is the girl's name even Ayla? Hiroi doesn't know. That's simply what it sounded like.

Now, the important question. A question so important that it made Hiroi's face scrunch up.

"What's a quartermaster?"

A good question, and frankly, one that Ania didn't quite know in it's greatest accuracy. Of course, that was something Ania wouldn't ever admit to, and in fact, the words she would blurt out would become the unequivocal truth of the matter that she'd adopt. Besides, Ania was the captain of this ship anyways--what she says, goes!

"De quartermaster gets de food foh' de crew. Dey also clean plates and deck. Ah, but, you also tell de rest of de crew when clean and get food too. De people person."

She nodded, affirmed in her decision, and then gestured off to the wayside, off the ship and to the plentiful open seas.

"Now! It's time foh' de quartermaster to work! Don' worry, your first day. I wait foh' you, and den I cook foh you myself."

Truly, she was a most magnanimous captain.

“You want Hiroi to fish.”

Well, she might not be the smartest, but she knows when she’s being hassled. Why should she have to get food for this girl? Being a quartermaster suck. Though, Hiroi seemed to lose care about her own issues with the situation as she got up and went to the edge of the boat. She's not going to actually fish for anything or jump back into the water. She'll just do this; energy forming in her hand. Then, bam! She threw it into the water and boom. A big ole explosion occurs and it's raining fish onto the deck. That should do it for the getting of the food. Hiroi's so freaking cool sometimes.

This was.... GODSEND! This wasn't a siren, this was an angel! Ania ran over to the back, screamed out for Lawrence to come to the deck, and started collecting all the fish into buckets and containers. Lawrence was first averse to the idea of coming back out, especially hearing the noise of fish slamming onto the boat--he assumed they were coming under fire or something; but, once he saw what was actually happening, the animal was just as excited as Ania. His large paws scrammed to store these fish in containers, and more importantly, straight into his mouth.

"What you doing? Put de fish away! We feast tonight!"

Ania's brain wracked over all the ways to cook the fish, all the different dishes and styles. Though they ran out of actual things to eat, there was plenty of seasonings stored on board. For how minimalist Lawrence and Ania for many other luxuries, they made plenty of room for ludicrous amounts of ways to dress their food. Techincally, whenever able, they tried loading things up with food too, but those were always the first to be run out of for some reason.

Once all the fish were put away--or eaten by Lawrence--Ania ran over to the siren and gave her a big, tight hug.

"You da best quartermaster I ever had!"

Frankly, if it wasn't for the dire circumstances, Ania would've been much more interested in marveling over the blast of energy.

Humorous? Yes. That is what she is feeling. Hiroi recognizes this feeling from the times she had watched travesty befall humanity or during the times she had witnessed little funny skits on a television. That's correct. Watching Ania run about with her pet left Hiroi with a small rumbling building in her chest, a laugh threatening to breach her stoic exterior. However, she simply kept herself tamed, only a small smile detailing her current mood. Though, she did not stir as she watched the smaller girl run over and embrace her. It is true that Hiroi is the best quartermaster, but such claims are hollow when one comes to understand that Ania never had one in the past.

Hiroi doesn't have a particular desire to spoil the small human on her person, nor did she sport any ill will. If anything, she is simply accepting the fact that she has done something morally correct. The sinister thoughts of hunger are loud, but she needs not attempt to feast on a measly human when they are surrounded by a constant stream of nutrition. The scaredy cat has done much to make the Danava feel her existence thirst for something to fill its void with the way he devoured what's meant to be saved for a meal. It is a wonder why these two have nothing to eat so often, but Hiroi cares not about it, for she finds herself entirely consumed by the idea of having a meal prepared by Ania.

"Thank you but let us save the charades for when we have had our fill and no longer teeter on the thin line between a full belly and starvation."

She just liked this siren better and better! The lady spoke unfathomable truths, nodding in excitement and heading over to the starboard side of the deck. Covered under a heavy draping tarp was a full blown grill. It was absurdly large, with many parts, but few things on the ship looked as pristine, clean, and frankly as expensive as this. It was, after all, one of Ania's prides and joys, the George Foreman Grillmaster 78k.

She flipped it open, wood already prepared inside. This masterpiece had self-lighting capabilities, and the wood went straight to burning. To her side, Lawrence trotted over with a bag in hand, dropped at her feet. She picked it up, rummaged through the contents, and pulled out a series of seasonings, tongs, skewers, and a few rags. Ania took the cloth that kept her hair back and tied it around her forehead. She went all out, battle uniform on the ready, prepared for anything.

The two of them went to work, with a sereneness and fluidity of teamwork that seemed like a dance; the waves of the ocean calmed to a tranquil stillness, like the universe stopped to watch the duo. Seamlessly, the fishes were washed, gutted, deboned, cut into a variety of styles. Some were skewered, some prepared like sashimi. Different seasonings were thrown on, all from unmarked containers--but a professional like Ania already had each one memorised.

The stars themselves held for a moment to admire the artistry, the speed and accuracy of each movement; the elegance and agility in which Lawrence occasionally stole spare pieces without Ania's awareness; the whipping of active flames that beyond belief spread to a uniform evenness; the consistency of colour, crust, and sizes of each skewer, each grill mark, each morsel of food.

An amount of time passed, or maybe no time at all, and the feast was prepared. An amount of food that covered the entirety of their whole deck. It seemed like there was more fish prepared than actual fish caught, but that was simply a matter of Ania's expert preparation. The girl stood, tall, proud, and smacked Lawrence on the head when he tried to go for the first bite.

"In honour of de new crewmate who caught de food, dey take bite first."

She gave an encouraging smile to her quartermaster and gestured for the siren to try it.

Waiting for a meal was never a specialty of Hiroi's. Despite her intentions of becoming a master at the art of cooking, she was rarely able to put up with it for long. A being such as herself lacked the tenacity to survive a kitchen full of food with smells that tempted normal people. For her, such a task proved practically impossible. However, she would not sully Ania's excitement with her own neediness. It would be unsavory of Hiroi. Still, the Danava's chin remained stained with drool the whole process. It became such a problem that Hiroi refused to even exist anywhere near the pair of goofballs as they worked. Slowly, she could feel herself reverting primally.

However, be it the grace of God or whatever, it soon became time to eat. Hiroi, for better or worse, had become a bit feral after the time wasted waiting for the multitudes of fish to be prepared. Claws bearing into her thighs, ripping her own skin and muscle to shreds as it regenerates only portrayed her frustration, but it took those simple words from Ania to send the woman into a frenzy. Containing herself just a bit to keep from eating everything before her, the one plate she chose was gone in a matter of seconds, lost within the abyss that is her mouth and stomach.

"Oh. For such a simple girl, your skills prove satisfactory."

Yes. Nothing is burnt. Everything is seasoned to a wondrous degree. In the hands of any of person, surely, Ania would be receiving praises that befits gods. For Hiroi, the Danava could only acknowledge that her food tastes better than the filth she devours daily. Her need for substance usually overcomes her ability to accurately taste her food, but that is a fault that existence deems her incapable of overcoming.

Mmm, yes, this is what truly appreciating and enjoying food looks like. Lawrence was all the same, one to haphazardly devour his meal with utmost savagery. It was only natural that Ania's understanding of how one really expressed utmost enjoyment and appreciation of food was in similar manners. Indeed, Ania was very fond of the cut of this siren's jib.

"M'food is de mos' satisfyin', quartermaster! I guarantee it!"

In similar fashion, Ania took to eating her own food, once in a while peeking over to her quartermaster in admiration and respect. The amount of food a person ate really told you a lot about their personality, and nobody that could enjoy themselves through the product of culinary expertise could ever be someone all too bad in Ania's book.

Just the three of them was all it took to totally finish all the food prepared. With a full stomache that inexplicably didn't bulge, and a face of tranquility, Ania lied on the floors of her deck. She beckoned Lawrence and her new quartermaster over to her by motioning to them with her hands. When Lawrence lied down next to her, Ania hugged him, preparing herself for the heartiest of naps.

"Dis is wat we do on de ship after good meal. Come join, you are wan of us now."

HIROI KIGA

Personality? Hiroi's personality is hungry. The woman exists only to forever quest to either sate or advanced the state of one's hunger. Though, Hiroi has never found herself keen on understanding the gnawing sensation that drove others to commit the actions they do. Whether it be a hunger for knowledge, sustenance, or power; Hiroi is a creature that's purpose is to nurture those desires in any shape she finds fit. However, she has always found herself estranged from mankind, a fault self-inflicted by her selfishness. She had no sentience at first, only hunting to conquer her never-ending desires, but now that she has a developed consciousness, she finds the world all too complicated.

Ania's actions are but one more complication. Why sleep out in the open in the middle of the sea? What if a creature dared to stir this ship? What if the weather turned unwelcoming? Hiroi never even bothered to question why a child dared brace these seas alone. That involved questions the young Danava knew would leave things even more complex. Though, Hiroi does not require sleep. Sleep is only necessary when Hiroi is unable to find any food for long periods of time.

"Sleep. I shall keep watch."

As thanks for the meal, Hiroi will escort Ania to the end of her journey over these waters. Once on shore, they may depart from one another. Hiroi found herself shifting back to her smaller form, wishing to reserve energy while she kept watch. Besides, she has many thoughts to organize.
