Target Practice [OPEN]
Mon 15 Feb 2016, 11:54 pm
It was the usual night time training session for Akiko, the small building that was set up for other shinigami that used ranged weaponry was empty at this time. She set the target to be stationary for now and pulled the gun from it's holster, the two barrels on top of each other formed the long rectangle like barrel. When took aim she looked down the barrel keeping gun steady as she held her breath briefly and fired at the target. The gun recoiled back but she had learned by now not to let it hit her in the head and she was slowly getting used to firing the weapon as her aim was better than what it was when she first became a shinigami.
The bullet flew at the target hitting it just where the shoulder meets the neck the automatic scoring system rated the shot as rather average. The highest score a person could get was a dead center head shot worth 1000 points, she got a rather low 134 points. She sighed and adjusted her aim a bit and fired another bullet that shot straight through the center of the wooden dummy's neck, a bit better...but not much as the shot would be fatal if left for too long. But not good enough as it was only 420 points. Akiko sighed and grunted as she fired again and again. 167, 240, 338...the scores were rather annoying but they seemed to have a purpose of motivating potential marksmen and marks-women. The red head kept firing over and over, getting more and more...terrible as she just grew more frustrated with her self.
She stopped and just sighed looking at the dummy, the multiple holes shot into it showed that if this was an actual target it'd be dead by now. She probably just needed more motivation. She worked well under stress so maybe something harder would push her to be better than what she was now. So she started the reflex test, dummy's would pop up at random and she'd have to shoot them as they appeared. She took deep breath, holding her weapon steady and as the first dummy appeared she quickly aimed and fired hitting it through the chest, then the next popped up far to her left and she quickly turned and fired at it. The bullet went straight through it's lower torso.
As she quickly reloaded the next two appeared and she had to aim and fire quickly, first one had it's right arm shot off, the second had a bullet straight through the neck. The dummy's started to appear in larger numbers and faster, she continued firing and hitting her targets, while she was far from being the best gunner, she certainly wasn't the worst. This also seemed to be a test of endurance as she had to keep adjusting her aim and angle to keep up with the targets as the continuously popped up. She soon finished the test as she hit the mechanism to stop it. She was against the wall, sweating and panting. She really needed to improve her self but at the same time, she hated sweating mostly because if others were around, people tend to stare when she wipes sweat from between her boobs. It was just annoying to see people stared at her. She took a deep breath and sat on the ground looking out to the moon and starry sky. The Seireitei was beautiful at night but she never really took the time to watch time go by at night. Because there was not life besides patrols.
She then heard the door open and someone walk in, she yawned and just waited to see who it was.

"To be truthful, i forgot that some shinigami use ranged weapons", said Kenta, entering the room unannounced. He saw the red headed women training her shot and was impressed with some of the shot placements. Then again, he knew nothing about marksmanship so who was he to judge. Every shot was as good as any other in his eyes. He approached the woman with a bright smile, extending a hand. "I'm Kenta Mariko, pleased to meet you. Wanna help each other train a bit?" Instantly as the words flew out of his mouth he knew this was a terrible idea. Kenta is a shinigami, fresh out of the academy, challenging a shinigami with a ranged weapon. There was no taking his idea back, so he would just bite the bullet, hopefully hypothetically. Kenta awaited an answer, and prayed that his shunpo was up to war with this womans aim. Well, it seemed that if the red headed woman were to accept, only time would tell. "My my, where are my mannaers. I forgot to ask your name which is......". Hopefully this would be a fun sparring session should she accept.

As Kenta entered the room speaking she blinked and looked to him and saw that he had his hand extended to her. She wasn't familiar with him and wasn't really keen on shaking a strangers hand and just stood. She examined him briefly and decided to at least introduce herself to the man "Sayuri, Akiko, nice to meet you Kenta-san, I don't think I've seen you here before but not a lot of people come here around this time anyway". She heard Ryuuta yawn and say something about the boy looking very weak. It wasn't something she wanted to think about really, maybe he was weak but maybe he wasn't.
Maybe a sparring match was what was needed, she really had to do more sparring with people. She thought about it a moment and smiled to him "I think a sparring match would be quite fun actually, though it's a bit to small of a room in here". She thought a moment longer and couldn't remember anywhere good for sparring without causing property damage that wasn't a squad house and she wasn't going to wake the other vizards up with her gunshots and kido. She took a breath and walked to the window leaning out it a bit "Nice night though isn't it?".
She then heard Ryuuta yawn again "Onee-san...it's late...can we just go to bed? I'd love to see you shoot this guy but it's sooooo....laaaaate". Akiko sighed and responded with her thoughts.
"You're a hollow Nii-chanm you don't need sleep". Ryuuta just laughed as they both knew that Ryuuta didn't need rest...at all. Then Akiko's Zanpakutō spirit spoke "Maybe you should both focus on finding somewhere to spar without breaking everything". They were both chatting and she sighed as she had to deal with 2 voices in her head.

The training grounds were usually quiet at night. Most of the Gotei kept to a strict morning or afternoon training regiment. Those who trained at night were a select few. The restless, the ambitious new mind and today the curious mind. Fine sandals disturbed the floors making them squeak softly on their nails. They never used to make that sound, only after the war had the floor boards been used to the point of ... squeak.
The footsteps stopped at the sound of two voices. A curious head turned the corner and soon found himself covering the doorway. There they were, the restless and the ambitious. Dressed in a black Gi and Hakama, Takiya stood by the doorway and in no way hiding his presence. "Sumimasen." In his left hand would be a ox-horn bow, strung tight but arrow-less. "Genji Serisawa, would any of you know where the arrows are?"
He had always been into archery but mostly as a leisure sport. However he wanted to know what it was like in actual combat. What better way than to come to the ranged grounds and put it to the test? His eyes always had an odd appearance, they weren't exactly dull but somewhat had the blind appearance in them. Yet the Sea-green eyes locked first on the young graduate and then, unbeknownst to Takiya, to the vizard with the guns.
Who they were, Takiya did not know. Who he was? Well it was pretty clear who he was. If they didn't know him by name and face then his Lieutenants badge would at least give them a clue. He wore it on his left arm. It was polished perfectly but it had clear signs of wear over the years. A chip there a scratch here, but the diplomat division flower was still visible and as always his Zanpakutō was strapped to his left.

Seeing the man walk in and Kenta seeming to go on his way she walked to Genji with a quiver of arrows offering it to him. She smiled to him as she seemed to cool of a bit by now, though her clothing might not be exactly ladylike she didn't really seem to care about opinions on her clothing. "Here you go, there's more over in the corner over there..so you use a bow, what's that like?". She was genuinely curious about using a bow, she had never used one and the closest thing is was a crossbow. She then wandered over to the wall, deciding to watch Genji to see if she could maybe learn something from watching him.
Her thoughts were on him for a moment though, he did look a bit like the kind to master more than one sort of weapon. So perhaps she could spar him some time but not at this time as she didn't want to reveal to many people that she was a vizard and perhaps be treated as less than a person and that had happened more than once and it did nothing but anger her and in some cases make her feel depressed. While she wasn't one to let things get to her she didn't want to be an outcast either just because she wore a hollow mask.
As she watched Genji she couldn't help but wonder if his Zanpakutō turned into a bow, if so...arrows could be shot out of the air...and it takes time to shoot an arrow while a gun is just load and go. She took a seat on one of the nearby chairs and yawned a bit as she realized it was now rather late in the night and it was at this time the moon would shine at it's brightest and she loved to watch the moon when she could. It made her feel at peace, like nothing was wrong in the world and that there was only going to be good happening from that point forward.
