Roses of the Past, Thorns of the Future [Private: Amphy/Pseu]
Fri Sep 11, 2020 1:00 am
Child of Eris
Artist: KAIRI - Song: Adrift in the Leaves
A past, centuries old, is one always so rich with memories; rich with fond times and even fonder memories. Of course, such pasts also possess thorns; barbs poisoned with pain and sorrow... But that is currently the future, the past to explore is that of two particular children of Eris; born at differing times. The elder of the two was Pseudologoi, a demon, thought to be a goddess in ancient greek, who had expertise over lies, falsehoods; deception. However, the second was Amphilogiai; the much younger, but quite adorable at times, sister to Pseu. She was a demon, also thought to be a goddess, who had dominion over disputes, altercations; conflict. A rather unlikely pair, indeed, but Amphy, the younger of the two, absolutely adored her elder sister; so much so she was always at her heel. Indeed, Amphy was quite likely annoying to Pseu, who likely put up with Amphilogiai just because her presence was useful for certain... activities. Of a non lewd variety, of course, but still of the type that made their relationship rather gray; in terms of morals. However, as the being lived, and as Pseu became more and more infuriated with Eris; life became more complex.
If one were to ask Amphilogiai what happened the day she and Amphy left their mother, Eris, she could not tell you the exact reason. She was the youngest at the time, and she had very little reason to dislike, nor despise, her mother; in fact, she had no clue why Pseu was so mad with Eris. Whatever the reason was, she did not question it; she simply followed her elder sister. She wished to be with Pseu, and where the woman went, so did Amphy. However, Amphy didn't know truly why her dear sister was so frustrated with their mother. What had she done? Was what Eris had done truly that bad?
Eventually, Amphy couldn't stand her curiosity no more; she needed to sate it. As she was following Pseu around, holding her hand to make sure she wouldn't get lost, she blurted out her question before any reasonable thought could stop her; mostly because she couldn't stand it anymore.
"Pseuuu! Why're you so angry at Mama? Did she hurt you? I just don't understand why you'd want to leave... But, I'll be with you~ So my big sis isn't alone~!"

THE LYING DEMON
Annoying.
The young woman was overall in a pretty bitter mood. Today failed to cheer her up, of course it failed. She was dealing with absolute nitwits all day, dull-brained fools that she extracted zero delight in playing with. Her subjects irritated her fully and completely, she felt as if she had truly completely broken their poor little ape minds considering how easy they were to twist around and bend to her will. Soft-minded, the lot of them - She had half a mind to just eat them already, but then she would just be reminded that their flesh would be as dull as their brains had become.
Eh, she'll figure something out, maybe it was some time for some fresh bodies to be welcomed into her company?
Within her stone-walled room, she was wasting her night hours writing some stupid poem. She had seen some mortals write them and honestly, with a few stealthy peeks, they weren't too horrible. Even if they were easy to wear thin, humans did have some novelty in their tinkering little hands...
Only candle light lit her study, the scratching of reed against papyrus was the only noise she made, until she heard the excitable pitter patter of little feet from the hall. Her heart sunk, eyes rolling, and a sigh escaped from her mouth - Those sounds were the call of the end to her silence, she knew that all too well at this point.
Without skipping a beat, her chair so easily twirled around to face her little sister, as small little fat-faced Amphy came tumbling in with that runny little mouth of her's. Despite her misery, a perfectly sweet smile was drawn on the pale woman's face as she would speak in the sweetest of tones,
"Ohh little Amphy~ That pretty little head of yours has so many silly little questions in it.. Come here."
She beckoned the younger of the two over, and once she had done so she would bring her up onto her lap, gently draping the smaller girl's lower body with two arms as Pseu would release a long, lasting sigh, leaning her head against Amphy's own,
"Bless your little heart, wanting to be there for me.. So sweet it'd give me a toothache."
She would reach up, pinching the younger one's cheeks like a doting mother, "..Aahh, but you mustn't worry about such silly things, you know? I'm not angry with Mother, we're just.. Having a little disagreement~"
She deeply inhaled, holding Amphilogiai close, as she released a soft sigh, "See? All will be fine.. Aren't you happier playing with me, anyway? What have you to worry about~?"

The youngest of her current siblings, Amphilogiai, did not know exactly what had caused such a rift between Pseu and Eris; what did Eris do? In her little mind, immature as it was, she didn't believe that Pseu could be part of the issue. Was it possible Pseu was? Oh certainly. However, Amphy was positively smitten with her sister; her naïve little mind wouldn't even bother comprehending, nor considering, the possibility. Which was why, when the youngest "goddess" was drawn to her sister's room, to have her question answered, she was overjoyed to find herself upon the lap of her elder sister. Giggles and squeaks escaped Amphy, endearing sounds that could possibly be grating to Pseu's ears; after all, Amphy was technically interrupting her silence.
The answers to her questions did no more than confuse Amphy further. What kind of disagreement were they having? Why should Amphy not worry about it? Indeed, Amphy loved her family, loved her mother Eris; but why shouldn't she worry about it? As her face scrunched up thanks to Pseu pinching her cheek, causing a slight bit of squirming, the little demon leaned into her sister oh so calmly; she quite adored her embrace. Even if Pseu may not feel the same about Amphy, Amphy could not help but love everything Pseu did with her.
Eventually, even after Pseu described just how sweet Amphy was, and of course after answering her questions, Amphy felt herself relax; relax so extremely as she nuzzled into her sister. Something about her felt... odd. Maybe it was because she was so young and couldn't understand her emotions; or maybe because her darling sister was convincing Amphy herself that it really was better to be with her than Eris. However, something in the back of Amphy's mind refused to let go of the thought that she loved her mother Eris; but she still loved Pseu too, and really wanted her to have company and be happy. So what was the problem with staying with her instead of going back to Mana? Nothing bad could possibly come of it~
"Huhh... I guess you have a point! And I mean, Mama is nice but... I do have wayyy more fun playing you with, sis! But..."
Amphy frowned some as she leaned into her sister quite lovingly, unable to disagree with her. After all, even if Amphy did love her mother a great deal, and liked playing with her the little she had; Pseu was indeed way more fun. However, the thought of leaving her mother still nagged horribly at the back of her mind; it made her painfully aware that she truly did love Eris, even if she wasn't exactly the greatest of mothers at times.
"Of course I'd much rather be with you, sis! But, will Mama be okay? I don't want her to be lonely either... But if you say all will be fine, I believe you! Cuz you're the best big sis ever~"
Amphy looked up at Pseu, the doubt clearing from her face as she gave her a huuuuge grin; she was clearly no longer quite as doubtful about her mother's state if she were to be left alone. However, it was clear that Amphy, despite her faults, despite her naivety, and despite everything else, she honestly and truly cared for Pseu far more than anyone could likely think. Luckily, Pseu did say everything would be fine.

THE LYING DEMON
Pseudologoi sighed and petted the younger demon's head as she prattled on with her silly little worries, sighing as she looked at the girl's head almost inspectingly, before holding her close to her chest,
"Amphy, she has our other siblings as well as all manner of followers. She won't be lonely in the slightest."
She seemed a little wistful, looking outside of the stone window to the night sky, stars flickering softly against the dark canvas of the infinite sky. The demon strongly desired independence and autonomy, and had felt fed up living under what she felt was her mother's shadow. Her decision to go off on her own was her's and her's alone - she felt herself capable of handling herself on her own, however Amphy just couldn't help but come along clinging to her. It was a nostalgic feeling, that Amphy gave her; Algos was just about as clingy as she.
It was natural, she supposed, lies did beget conflict and pain after all.. Perhaps there was just that natural cyclical connection in addition to their blood relations. Though, Amphy was much younger than Algos, and that had it's own hassles, however having someone who couldn't help but grasp so tightly to her and be in such awe of her mere existence fed her ego, just a bit.
"Alright you silly little creature, don't you think it's time for bed?"

Amphilogiai looked up at her elder sister from her place on her bosom; studying the face that Amphy enjoyed looking into. However, she couldn't see her sister's eyes at the moment, could not guess what she was thinking. A small nod was followed by Pseu's reassurance that Eris was going to be just fine without the two of them. Amphy would still miss her mother, and those of her siblings she was closest too; but she was with Pseu, after all, and Pseu was her most favoritest big sister. She gave her big sister a big, warm, goofy smile; one that Amphy seemed to be quite capable of giving at almost any time.
Indeed, perhaps it was that smile, maybe Amphy's company in general, that caused Pseu to allow Amphy to accompany her on what was to be a very, very long time away from home. And indeed, Amphy couldn't stand the thought of Pseu being alone either; and she desired to see the world at large with her sister. Gentle hums, and gentle breaths, could possibly have lead one to believe that Amphy had fallen asleep, content as she was in Pseu's arms; but, she was simply that, content and relaxed.
Perhaps indeed, such a natural connection of lies and conflict; lies and pain. Regardless of what those reasons were, with Amphy being among the youngest of her family, it was impossible for her to not be in awe of them; especially in awe of Pseu. How her powers work, how she is able to do such things on a daily basis, and even the simple effort of leaving home when barely any other child of Eris had done so. Soon, however, Pseu brought up quite a good point; one that was punctuated by a yawn from Amphy. Covered mouth or no, it was plain as day the little demon had yawned due to her being becoming tired as time rolled forward. She nodded up at her sister, speaking softly.
"Mmmmmn... I guess so, Pseu... C-Could you tuck me in. Please~?"
