She didn't expect anything.

She understood what could possibly happen. Part of her was braced for it. Rejection, even as gentle and as apologetic as it would be if he were to do so. Was on the table at least, and she understood that. And yet, when he spoke, the further he went the more her heart was racing, and that calm expression shifted the slightest amount, and she managed to offer the softest curves of her lips. A warm smile as she knelt down, and listened to him. She didn't know how to explain what it is she felt as he expressed himself. Nervously backtracking as he struggled with uncertainty. Decisiveness was never his strong suit.

And yet, he managed to pull it together. And as he gave his answer, and made his request. She had her answer prepared, one she'd taken great care to prep for and preen. Was it strange that so savage a beast had readied so gentle a weapon to challenge him with?
Where once they had fought side by side with violence and ferocity, for him and him alone she had prepared a different kind of attack.

Leaning in, she gently pressed her lips to his.
Managing to suppress instincts of aggression and conquest, to deliver a soft, chaste, but meaningful kiss.
She didn't have it in her heart to shatter him with the ferocity she felt inside of her. But rather this kiss was a whisper that she knew his ears were too sensitive to bear, taking his lips for an ear and baring to him the message her heart sang:

Forever.

His heart beat a touch faster now. He didn't know what to expect. There were several wild ideas that threatened to fly into his head, and he wondered if he had truly expressed himself the way he desired. Even so, reality proved to be so much better. Without hesitation, her most effective attack had erased any and all doubt in his mind.

A kiss so gentle that it put all his worries aside. Time felt as though it froze for him then and there, and then... that's when he knew that this was where he genuinely wanted to be. In this moment alone, he wanted to be nowhere else but here. In response to the song her heart sung, Kenichi felt emboldened to answer with even greater certainty as he firmly wrapped his arms about her shoulders, deepening their kiss as he held her there. Normally, he probably would've voiced a request of some kind beforehand, but perhaps Sabre would applaud him for taking charge for once.

After all, this, this was his answer. He didn't want her to go away now. At this moment, he wanted her here in his arms. Nothing else mattered in the world right now than that. No greater joy could compare to right now. There was certainly something to be said about his recklessness up to this point, but that was a tale for another time. Right now, the only thing clouding his thoughts was her.
