The fist connected with her mirage and appeared behind him immediately momo decided to take her plan into action as she was about to initiate another sealing spell to further increase their odds of winning but she immediately stopped was as she saw her strategy came with a price as the initial force of the punch had enough energy to cause a few buildings to crack and crumble, some souls were either decimated by the destructive winds or were sent back a dozen feet. However momo was taken abak as she felt a presence arise from the shadows a new figure appeared on the battlefield his appearance was that of an average human only this time he had a more sinister presence his frame was fairly well built with a natural skin tone flowing red hair, glowing triangular eyes, and a grin that hungered for blood.
Tendrils began to move uncontrollably as one of them pierced through the demons chest creating a clone of himself, the two figures spoke in complete unison now this was going to be trouble despite shunsui being in bankai Momo wonders if he can hold his own long enough until it dissipastes. But now she has to focus on whats in front of her which is the duplicate ready to attack at any moment, so momo decided to go the offensive and slice him with her sword in a diagnol way.

As he made his attack from the shadows Shunsui could immediately tell that he hadn’t succeeded in catching his opponent by surprise by the way he reacted. That was unfortunate, to say the least. He’d been hoping to make a fatal attack. Before he was able to connect though, the tendrils interfered once again, forcing his blade uselessly to the side and gripping it with their remarkable strength. At the same time more of the tendrils launched a new attack on his arm as it reached for his katana. Uninterested in losing his arm Shunsui dodged to the best of his ability although he couldn’t move his body much, as his wakizashi was held by the tendrils and he wasn’t letting go of another sword. Not in this battle. In fact the more he reflected on it the more he became determined that he would never again let either of his swords be taken from his. He would first die.
Narrowly avoiding the brunt of the damage from the tendrils, although he did receive another long shallow cut down the length of his forearm that bled profusely and hurt much more than it had any right to, Shunsui managed to get his hand on to his katana. Clutching it tightly and entering his Bankai he was pleased when the enemy backed off, leaving him with both blades in hand. His left arm would certainly be less useful than it normally was, but it was better than nothing, and he would make do as he always did. In the middle of this mini celebration though, Shunsui noticed that his opponent was performing some new technique unlike anything he’d ever seen before. In mere moments another of the invaders stood in front of him. Mayuri would certainly be interested in studying this one, with all of the tricks he kept pulling out of his sleeve. Maybe they were related somehow. The copy however, seemed to focus its attention on Momo, leaving him to face their original foe on his own. That was perfectly fine. He was done playing games now.
Facing his foe Shunsui began to recite the name of his bankai. It was already active, but more effects would present themselves once he’d done this.
“Katen Kyōkotsu: Karamatsu Shinjū”
The sky continued to darken as he finished speaking, reaching unnatural levels. At the same time Katen, one of his zanpakuto spirits began to manifest itself. At first she was almost translucent, but by the time she’d fully appeared she was extremely vivid, almost appearing too colorful. With the increased amount of power that Shunsui output while in his bankai his reiatsu became even more oppressive, and was easily visible swirling thickly in front of him like shadow. Katen had her head buried in his shoulder, and so from over his shoulder peeked her skull mask, unblinkingly vigilant.
“Ichidanme: Tameraikizu no Wakachiai”
With that Shunsui brought into effect the first of his bankai’s abilities. His target was the original invader, and the only thing he needed was line of sight. As he was already looking straight at his foe, the effect was immediate. They were now linked. Any injuries one received so too would the other. More than that though, their bodily states, in a physical sense, will remain equal for the duration of this ability. Shunsui imagined that the invader would be enjoying the way his arm felt right about now. Feeling at least slightly rejuvenated for the time being Shunsui once more launched a furious attack at his enemy. He could tell that his foe was weaker than he’d been initially due to splitting his body in two, which told him that if there were ever a time to go all out it was now. Needing no further encouragement he proceeded to do so. He had no idea how his ability would work now that there were two of the invader, but it mattered little. If he was able to damage the clone as well that would be and added benefit. If not, that was perfectly fine, it was what he expected in the first place.
Shunsui wondered how Momo was faring in her own battle, but presently he could do nothing to assist her, and he chose not to risk glancing towards her, as he needed to focus on his own fight. Hopefully though, she would remain uninjured. If not, he wouldn’t forget about this. He’d just have to rid himself of his own foe as quickly as possible, then he’d be able to assist Momo once more.
With his bankai active Shunsui could feel a considerable boost to his strength and speed, mainly due to the lesser amount of restraint he was inflicting onto himself. He had tried to cast it all off previously, but it was difficult to attack with his absolute full strength when he was still holding back his zanpakuto. Now that he was no longer doing so even swinging his blade through the air with a fraction of his power caused distant buildings to be obliterated completely, leaving behind nothing but dust. One negative side effect of possessing such power. The other was the toll it took on his body. Shunsui was sure he’d need some healing after this fight, and not just because of his arm. The sheer amount of energy he output very slowly tore his body apart as it was expelled. As strange as it sounded, after over two thousand years he still had much training to do. Mostly due to the fact that he’d been so incredibly lazy in his younger ... and not so younger, years. His body simply wasn’t ready to harness the full extent of his power, especially since he’d recently trained to increase his level of energy even further. It would take time for it to catch up.
Using his shunpo to once more rapidly traverse the distance between the two of them Shunsui would come at his opponent with blades crossed, then pull them both outwards with all of his might, attempting to deliver a gruesome wound to his opponents chest. Succeeding or failing he would proceed the same way. Shunsui would leave as little as possible for his foe to react, making as many attacks as possible in an attempt to gain the initiative. He realized that his opponents reactions were incredibly speedy, but no one, absolutely no one, was infallible. He’d been fighting long enough to know that by now. Perhaps if he could use his superior knowledge of swordsmanship to convince his foe of a feint he could land a real blow. With this in mind Shunsui would continuously attempt to create an opening for himself, and then stab his opponent through the middle of his chest.
Within his onslaught Shunsui would utilize a few of his shikai abilities, namely Bushōgoma, Kageoni, and Irooni at every opportunity, looking for any chance to gain an advantage. He was in no way attempting to fight morally, or by any code of honor. Any way he could injure his opponent was a perfectly acceptable one in his book, and that was reflected in his actions. Finally, after having gauged his foe’s reaction to various different kinds of feints and misdirection Shunsui would enact his strategy. He’d noticed that the invader had particular habits whenever reacting to his attacks, and would use everything he’d learned and seen in over 2500 years to exploit those habits, attempting to pierce his opponents chest as he’d decided earlier. He first unleashed a Bushōgoma towards his enemy’s face, then while he was preoccupied with that Shunsui feinted an attack with his katana towards the invaders lower midsection, but at the last second he pulled his arm back. He’d noticed that his opponent blocked very efficiently, and so this movement, he hoped, would allow him to slip past the block and access his opponents weaker areas from too close of a distance to be effectively defended against. If he were successful he would immediately twist and realign his katana so that the point was aimed at the invaders chest and the blade was aimed upwards, then he would thrust it towards his foe’s chest with all of his might in an attempt to end the battle here.
