Investigate Anaconda: Breach and Pray (Kokuto/Alastair)
Thu Nov 18, 2021 2:05 pm
Kokuto and Alastair would find themselves arriving in the streets of the small town of Anaconda. It was a pretty large town built so very close to the base of the mountains. And they themselves were only a few blocks from the facility itself. A fairly small building. Two stories tall and about half a block in area, it was hard to believe that it was a base of operations for anything. As Alastair had pointed out, Ehefra had managed to secure scans of the building itself, and both men would have with them, aside from the small squad of 5 Soldat, a small floating companion capable of projecting the layout of the building. They also had a pre-programmed ability to generate a person-sized reishi panel to be deployed as needed, be it for cover or any other reason that they might have for it.
The bottom floor was one large atrium with a set of stairs in the center. It was, however, generally entirely empty, and even looked abandoned and run down in the scans. The ACTUAL area of operations was up on the second door, accessible only by the large broken escalator in the center. Thanks to the scans, they would know that they could expect about 4-5 people in the upper level. There was an open area where the Escalator led up into, and then a hallway with about four rooms on either side. These rooms were in much better shape and seemed to be the actual space where this group operated.
A Secondary entrance was in the rear of the building which led down into the basement level. Unlike the other entrance, this one was more fortified and the scan had identified a number of storage areas as well as two to three targets. This area was ONLY accessible through the rear entrance short of making a new one. The details were a bit fuzzy, not the best since they had had to be a bit rushed given their limited timeframe, but it was still something.
Not only that, but each little Floating Companion also had a digital timer which counted down. Theirs read that they had about five minutes to figure out who would be assigned to which entrance, as well as how the soldat would be distributed between them. All five of them were assorted males with determined faces, though one or two of them seemed....anxious about the operation. It was all that could be spared as the rest were busy quietly evacuating the rest of the town.
All the same, a soft voice would be heard from the little cubes following both ritters.
"Please make your way to your positions, the operation will begin shortly. Once the Evacuation has been completed, additional Soldat would be rerouted to support you if necessary. Your Companion Cubes will also alert you of any updates or hazards. These cubes can be switched from voice notification to text by tapping the Companion. Good luck."
The little cubes would then resume floating in orbit around the pair, the timers continuing to tick down for when they were scheduled to begin. Enough time to come up with a strategy and move into position.

ALASTAIR EISFLUCH | Sternritter
Anaconda was a cold town, with a winter's chill rolling in from the nearby mountains, though Alastair had neglected the offer of supplementary cold-weather equipment. He had been conditioning his ability to withstand colder temperatures ever since his impromptu run-in with Director Armstrong, where his inability to properly manage his heat had left him rather dampened, and there was no finer testing ground than when out on an operation. Still, a frosty mist accompanied his breaths as he motioned for the Soldats to gather round.
The companion hummed as it projected an image of the target building, his hands quickly indicating towards the two different entrances. Alastair was hardly known to be a jovial person, but even what little emotion his face usually held had drained from it now.
"Welcome to Anaconda, gentlemen. I trust you have all read the mission briefing, you know what we are dealing with here. You three.." A nod in the direction of the assorted men to his left. "Will move with me towards the front door. We breach and go loud, rush the upstairs floor if we can. Do not give them the chance to realise what is happening until we are upon them. Soldat Rooks has command of the second team, the rest of you will be entering from the rear of the building. I leave it to the team leader to discuss further strategy with you all, but we will try to remain in contact throughout the operation. Communication is vital, if you find anything you believe to be mission-critical then you are to make it clear as soon as possible."
"I will stress again that our priority is to minimise casualties on all sides. Our scouts do not suggest these individuals are powerful, but they are certainly resourceful so do not underestimate them. The objective is to apprehend and secure all targets for extraction, lethal force is authorised but I hope it will not be necessary. Any Soldat deemed to be using excessive violence will face disciplinary action, this is your first and only warning."
"Soldat Rooks, any further comment you would like to share at this time?"

KOKUTO | DEVIL OF POWER
The frigid air of Anaconda hardly bothered Kokuto, an aura of heat and warmth emitting from his body and extending a couple of feet away from him. His eyes scanned the layout of the building that the companion provided again and again, his fingers idly toying with the broken remnants of the shackles around his wrists. While he certainly didn't show it, Kokuto felt a sense of dread and anxiety as time ticked down. Letting out a shaky exhale, Kokuto silently gathered with Alastair, seeing the two other Soldat's uncertainty.
Assigned to the rear entrance, his eyes focused on that section of the layout. A storage area, with around two or three confirmed targets inside. It was a lot more fortified, so that also begged the question of what was being stored in there. The likely answer was weapons or tools, but, whatever it was, the first thought was to make sure that he kept them away from it. Even if they weren't that strong or potentially lacked spiritual powers, restraining them and keeping them away from anything that might lead to an escape.
His eyes turned to Alastair at the mention of his surname, and Kokuto pondered for a moment.
"Hope for the best, prepare for the worst."
He paused, his eyes turning to the men who would be following him in this, then back to the projection.
"We're not gonna be doin' things too differently. Breach loud, don't give 'em a chance to react. Whatever's bein' stored in there, we don't wanna risk them gettin' their hands on it, before or after we've restrained 'em. I'll report our findings and status to Alast-- uh, Coordinator Eisfluch, once we've restrained all targets. We only have one shot, let's make it count."
He took a deep breath, shakily exhaling once again. He hoped he was doing a good job with this -- and he hoped above all else that this would go as smoothly as it could. The last thing he wanted was to end up leading these people to their deaths.

The Soldat looked from one man to the other, their gazes a mix of steely, nervous, and somewhere in between, including one who seemed to be frequently in the direction of Kokuto. All the same, they seemed to take Alastair's warning to heart. The pair had made their plans, split the group, and made it quite clear that their objective would be simple: Go in and blitz the targets. That's what they were here for weren't they? All the while, all around them other members of the Vandenreich in civilian clothing were in the process of setting up for evacuation as discretely as possible. Already a few hushed conversations were going on around them, and people began looking around, some of them even looking at the group with confusion as they were moved off the streets as calmly as could be managed.
All the same, with the splitting of the Soldat, each of them moving to rally behind their perspective Leaders, they seemed to be ready for the operation to begin! Some of them gripped their quincy crosses, others stared straight ahead and focused on the task ahead of them. One young man in particular took out his wallet, glancing at a photo in it with gentle earnest, as if hoping that he would see whoever was there again, before tucking it away and bracing himself.
Both groups were primed and ready to start moving. The two men had been fairly clear about their plans, and now all that was left was to head to the actual positions themselves. And as they spoke, they would notice that the timers were getting considerably low. The operation would be starting soon. However, the cubes both Pinged quietly before that familiar voice chimed in. Please proceed to your entry points as soon as possible. It chimed, contrary to the timer which read that they had a minute or two left. It seemed they would need to pick up the pace.
Off in the distance, a dull roar was heard. A hollow was somewhere out there.

Alastair looked to each of the men at his command, taking a particularly long moment as his eyes lingered on the man looking at an unseen photo. He allowed himself a moment to wonder what Sophie was doing at this exact moment. She was probably overseeing Ehefra on this very operation back at the command centre, which was comforting in its own way, but he would rather imagine she was cooped up in her flat worrying about something unimportant rather than losing sleep at his expense. It was the only real regret he had, that his taking of this mission could cause her some future distress.
There was not enough time to spare on such thoughts, though, as the cube chimed up to hurry him along. Sighing softly, one more misty exhale escaping his lips as he set the familiar to text notifications, Alastair motioned for his party to get ready. With two pairs flanking the entrance, Alastair and the young photographer on one side and the others across from them, he raised a hand and switched to his headpiece.
"Front team in position. Back team confirm, be ready to go on my count."
The distant Hollow cry was an unwelcome surprise, but they were ready to commit now. If it wanted to interfere with their operation then he hoped Reida and Vee were able to deal with it. If they tidied things up quickly then perhaps they would have time to deal with it, but that was a pipe dream right now.
Hearing the confirmation eventually come through from Kokuto, Alastair nodded to the man at the front of the pair across from him. A hand went to his ear before he raised it in the air and began to follow along visually with his countdown. His words were hushed, a whisper into the microphone and nothing more, but the tension that had been welling up in his chest was only growing.
"Breaching in five."
"Four."
"Three.."
"Two..."
"One...."
"Go go go!"
In tandem, Alastair and the man across from him swung out from their corners and rushed inside with the other men hot on their heels. They were making for the escalator with all haste, clearing whatever obstacles they could, but perhaps the enemy would engage them first. For now, that all remained to be seen.

KOKUTO | DEVIL OF POWER
Kokuto caught the glances made toward him, and he sighed quietly. It wasn't surprising that people were probably nervous to be around him, much less for him to be leading some of the soldiers, but damn if it didn't make Kokuto himself more nervous. He wanted to make sure that he did this right, and that everyone would go home safe. He could only hope that Ichijou or her mother weren't worrying about him while he was out here.
The notification from the familiar jarred him from his thoughts, and he gestured for those with him to follow as he made his way to the other entrance, lightly tapping the cube and switching it to text. He quietly made his way down the stairs to the basement entrance, lightly pressing his hand against the door. A quiet order came from the devil as they came to a stop.
"Stay behind me."
He turned his attention to his own headpiece, responding to Alastair with a simple, brief answer.
"We're ready, your call."
He turned around at hearing the distant cry of a Hollow, turning back to the door and mumbling curses under his breath. Now, of all times, a Hollow showed up. He hoped that the other two, Vee and Reida, were able to handle that. If not...things might get even more antsy than they already were. He didn't have time to worry about that, though, as Alastair's hushed whisper came through the microphone, and Kokuto's body tensed up. Chains slowly began to grow and manifest at the ends of the links at his wrists, and the man's hands coiled around them, his knuckles turning white as he held them with a vice grip.
Five.
Four.
Three.
Two...
One.
The moment that the first "go" was said, Kokuto's body surged forward, slamming the door open and charging into the basement area with the other two men as he threw the chain links forward, extending and seeking any targets in the room to attempt and restrain them -- or, at the very least, immobilize them.

With both teams in position, it was quick work for both Kokuto and Alastair's squads to make their ways to their respective breach points, And as that synchronized execution was carried out, those entry points would promptly be blown in.
The door in front of Alastair and his squad was almost immediately crumpled in, a poorly made chunk of wood that caved almost TOO easily as it was broken to pieces and scattered over the floor inside as the Coordinator and the squad all rushed into the building! Just as expected, the space ACTUALLY just opened up into a large atrium! The space was clearly very old and not well kept, and as the quincy charged up those stairs and began to head to their targets, Alastair would find that the floor suddenly crumpled beneath his feet, the rotted and aged wood simply breaking as the rest of the stairway creaked. But after that it was a straight shot toward the upper floor! At least at first.
Following the sudden loud noise, voices muffled in the distance could be heard upstairs. Voices that sounded panicked and surprised. Very suddenly, three men would burst from the doorway with weapons drawn. Two sidearms and a rifle pointed toward the group. "What the fuck they weren't supposed to come here! Take em out! VSM!" One man in particular cried out, the other two promptly yelling out 'VSM!' as they opened up, and suddenly the three raised their weapons to open fire on the group that was charging toward them. The three of them moved... like one would expect from perfectly normal humans. None of them particularly fast, honestly the only dangerous thing would be the bullets that soon would be heading their way! At least it seemed as much.
At the very same time, a shadow shot out from another door and leapt clean out and over the ledge! The man was shrouded in a vest and plaid shirt as well as what looked like heavy duty work pants and boots. A cowboy hat sat on top of his head and a gas mask obstructed his face. He was very clearly moving well beyond normal limits, setting himself up as probably the most dire threat.
Twisting in mid air and turning toward the group.....seemingly in slow motion? His body simply seemed to slow down as he peeled two sidearms from beneath a leather vest. He promptly fired at the group from the side! Even more the bullets didn't seem to slow down in the same way that the man did, adding to the number of rounds that were sent their way, the bullets fizzling into little plumes of blue reishi flame on impact, as if designed to burn through armor. Alastair, with the man's durability, would find that these rounds weren't designed to plow through bodies like one would expect, they would barely penetrate and honestly some might even be stopped by thicker materials, but the plumes of reishi flames would quickly begin to eat through material and start to burn flesh, even growing hot through his blut if he had that defensive layer active. While it wouldn't burn through immediately if left stuck to his body they would soon start burning through that defense!
As Kokuto burst through the basement door and launched his attack with his Chains, he'd hear a soft CLING as metal sounded off, thin wire catching on his chest and waist as he moved clean through a pair of trip wires. Two small cylinders would pop from the sides of the door itself, spinning briefly before they both promptly burst in a sudden deafening POP, one of the Soldat behind Kokuto knocked clean on his ass with an OOF as pennies shot from the explosives promptly would pepper Kokuto from both sides and bludgeon his ears with that loud bang! Of course, a man of his durability would find that the penny shrapnel was hardly lethal, especially since there was not TOO much force in the explosives themselves, but all the same he would likely feel the spray of hot heated metal pepper and likely even embed in his flesh as his sudden rush into the basement was met with abrupt repercussion.
"FUCK EM!" Came a shout from deeper inside the room, as son as those bombs went off, Kokuto would NOT find any open targets, and instead would find two large metal sheets of metal with eye slits welded into them, as well as ports through which rifles were poking out. The man would have a few seconds to react before the pair began firing on him, though he would find that if he launched his chains at the men themselves, those sheets of metal would keep them well protected from those cast chains. It seemed that of all the groups he had barged into those that were most prepared!

ALASTAIR EISFLUCH | Sternritter
Leaping up the crumbling stairs two at a time, Alastair was going to be the first to crest the summit when there was a sudden blur of activity from his flank. Hearing the goons call out, he was quick to activate his Blut Vene as he continued to advance. The sudden sensation of bullets slamming into his side that soon followed did give him some small comfort that his reactions were still up to scratch. That said, he was far from bulletproof and these reinforced rounds still bore through his uniform upon impact and began to burn away at his flesh. Grunting in indignation, he half-collapsed into the railing and made space for the man behind him to take the lead.
"Upwards and into them, do not get pinned down on the stairwell."
Doing what he could to quickly peel the heated metal from him, and his best to ignore the scalding pain that was his skin bubbling beneath his gloves, Alastair summoned his spiritual weapon and dropped to one knee. Holding Falke in his hand was a relief, and he took a deep breath as he drew back the spiritual strings. He was not aiming for anyone in particular though, not even the strange cowboy that was still descending in slow motion, rather he was looking up towards the roof of the atrium. The Heilig Pfiel began to glow, emitting more and more light as Alastair continued to channel Reishi into it until he released a Blitzfeuer into the centre of the room. Knowing it was not intended to impact any target, he poured much more reishi into it than he usually might. Hoping that the blinding light would at least buy his men the time they needed to clear the chokepoint that they now found themselves in.
"Subdue those three and then continue the sweep of the upstairs. I will deal with the pistoleer."
His gaze already averted to limit the self-effect of his own attack, Alastair finished off his command and then tumbled backwards further. Rolling himself over the railing until he was in a freefall, he tumbled for a moment as he struggled with the awkward angle of his descent. It was an intentional movement, though, as he had Wolke ready to stop his fall. All that remained now was to see what the cowboy did next, Alastair was still out in the open inviting the reishi manipulator to come to him, but there was little more of a plan beyond that.
Hopefully, Kokuto was having an easier time of it.

KOKUTO | DEVIL OF POWER
While Kokuto had been expecting some resistance, the sudden response was something he hadn't been expecting, as well as something he had dreaded. As his chains surged to find the targets, he heard the quiet sound going off and the wire breaking against his chest. His eyes widened, but he didn't have the time to turn around as a loud pop went off in his ears. The demon stumbled back a step as he was suddenly peppered from both sides by something hot and metallic.
It wasn't too damaging, but it was irritating. Despite this, he kept his body in front of the Soldat behind him. Even if they might have been able to take the damage, it was still better for someone like him to be in front and soak up the attacks. Kokuto's head raised as he heard a shout from within the room, seeing two large sheets of metal with slits and rifles on the front. Fuck! Kokuto's arm unhinged from his shoulder, tapping into Possessive Shifting to stretch his arm out and grab the door, it having been knocked off the hinges and flown a short distance away.
Pulling it back toward him, Kokuto held it in front of him and the other Soldat as the hail of gunfire began. It might not last long, but it was something to keep them all safe. Turning his head to the other Soldat, he shouted out an order above the noise, getting a hand ready as orange flames flickered to life on his palm.
"Get your weapons ready! We can't just sit here and do nothing, we have to retaliate!"
Without waiting for a response, Kokuto thrust his arm out from behind the makeshift barrier, unleashing a torrent of flames between any space that the metal sheets would have. The moment that the flames landed on the ground, they would quickly spread within the area. The flames were purposefully kept with a low-heat to prevent any serious damages, but he'd hoped that it would surprise them and send them into a panic, giving them an opening to get in the room and retaliate.
Regardless of whether or not they were put into a panic, Kokuto shouted another order before surging forward, holding the makeshift shield in front of him.
"Come on! We've come too far to get scared! I won't let you die!"
The Soldat, managing to get to their feet and ready their weapons, bows manifesting from their crosses, following Kokuto as he charged, nocking arrows and firing them from around the shield. Should he have gotten close enough or have the opportunity, Kokuto would punch through the shield on the far sides, allowing him to defend himself still while he reached for their rifles. He started jerking the weapons around to either get them out of their grips or hit them with their own guns and potentially knock them out.

As per their orders, Alastair's Soldat charged ahead! Bows were drawn and promptly charging forward! While the Soldat weren't anything special, they WERE much faster and tougher than normal humans! In no time, they were upon the small group of gun-toters and there was a brief spray of bullets! One of the Soldat dropped, knocked flat onto his back by the rounds which thankfully didn't seem to be the same type as the ones from the pistoleer. The other two set upon the small group of goons and attacked! One Soldat even peeling out a Seele Schneider and slicing clean through one of the weapons before knocking them to the ground! Soon the Soldat were struggling with the goons, slowly but steadily beginning to subdue them as their superior speed and strength won out!
As for Alastair's target, the man suddenly seemed to speed back up into normal time after somersaulting, landing deftly on his feet before spinning around and then flinching a bit when that arrow from the man went off! However that gas mask seemed to protect him from being blinded, and he raised his weapons. There was as soft crackle of green light from the man's shoes before suddenly WHOOSH! Alastair would find his personal space suddenly and aggressively invaded! A knee launching up to try and catch him in the center of his chest! The man was....slightly slower than Alastair, however the sudden burst speed of that crackle had been more than enough to disorient and potentially even cause a success in an attack aimed to knock the man over! Those twin pistols raised up to try and fire another spray of burning rounds into the Quincy at close range following the attack!
At Kokuto's end, that door would be peeled from the side and moved in JUST in time for that sudden aggressive spray of gunfire from the assault rifles to begin peppering it! One of them slowed, firing in small bursts aimed at Kokuto's feet while the other kept a fully automatic spray aimed straight at center mass to try and keep Kokuto from lowering the door to protect his feet!
Just as instructed the Soldat rushed in to file behind him! Notching their bows and using the man as a shield! However once Kokuto managed to launch those bursts of flames that spread across the floor, the two men behind the guns seemed to lose interest in staying behind their shields! Panicking, the paiur suddenly leapt away from their safe spots! One of them promptly getting nailed by an arrow,, knocking him to the ground where he yelled in panic as the flames burned him slightly! Even if they were low heat, it was still very unpleasant!
The second gunner managed to turn and bolt to the side, abandoning the guns tethered to the shields and promptly rushing to a wall, prying a little panel open and then spinning around! A small SMG in hand as he promptly began firing at the group with a yell, attempting to put on a last stand! Alas, while the man was fully armored just like his companion, based on his motions Kokuto would very quickly see that the man didn't seem very fast, downright he wasn't even fast for a normal human! And a loud huffing and puffing belied that the man was also a bit out of shape despite his bulk. It seemed that even though they had laid a trap, these were.... just normal humans!
As for Alastair's target, the man suddenly seemed to speed back up into normal time after somersaulting, landing deftly on his feet before spinning around and then flinching a bit when that arrow from the man went off!
