Crashing Waves and the Burning Abyss [Kanae, Tier]

Explosions in Soul Society don't magically make Hollow attacks in the Living Realm cease. This was largely to the advantage of Nagoshi Kanae, Captain of the Fourth, who didn't feel comfortable being cooped up in the Seireitei all day everyday. Even if meddlers like Kisuke Urahara were going to watch her every movement now, she still needed to let loose every once in a while; hence her current mission to hunt and defeat a group of Hollows on Earth.

Besides the fact she wanted to spread her wings a bit, Kanae took this mission because the Hollows in question apparently included a Menos Grande, more specifically an Adjuchas level Hollow. These sorts of monsters were rarely left to lower ranking members of the Gotei, and so she took it upon herself to be The Good Captain and help out some poor and innocent humans. The group of Hollows had been sighted on the outskirts of a small town with no Shinigami protector, terrifying the local populace and eventually garnering the attention of the Gotei.

It didn't take much time or effort for someone as experienced and skilled as Kanae to track these Hollows down. When she did she found them consorting with another being...an Arrancar. A tall man with an ebony Mohawk atop his head, and a dangerous-looking war hammer strapped to his back. More prey for us, Tosatsusha. thought Kanae as she eyed the group with a predator's glare.

Kanae launched from the shadows and unleashed a flurry of strikes against the assembled group, making quick work of the Hollows. She then turned her eyes to the Arrancar who had recovered from his initial shock and prepared to go on the offensive. Alas it would be for naught as Kanae deftly dodged his attack and followed up with a long swing of her Zanpakuto leading to the man losing his left arm and leg in an instant. The Arrancar tumbled to the ground in a heap, his blood soaking the ground around him, and he shouted at Kanae that she had no idea who she was messing with, and that they hadn't come for war.

With a smile, Kanae offered her prey a choice: Summon this terribly threatening figure he warned of and die quickly, or don't and be flayed alive. The choice was an easy one for the Mohawk'd Arrancar who swiftly opened a Garganta and waited, hope beyond hope she would come.

A strange sound accompanying a rapid movement greater than what a person should normally be capable of, though she had not witnessed it in many hundreds of years Kanae recognized what occurred. Apparently that portal had been a misdirection of some kind, evidenced by the strange woman who had saved the Arrancar she had meant to put to the sword. Kanae met the woman's dangerous emerald gaze with one of a cheerier violet. She was in a good mode, after all. Not every day does she get to butcher a bunch of pathetic Hollows and Arrancar.

Something about this Arrancar was different though as even Tosatsusha metaphorically sat forward in its seat and focused on the blond haired woman. She seemed of a different level altogether compared to the chaff they had slaughtered already. Her spiritual presence wasn't just more powerful, the Captain and her Zanpakuto could sense a greater will within her as well. She was like them in more ways than one, a predator among prey.

She's a dangerous one, Kanae. Maybe she'll be more fun to tear apart~!
Only one way to find out, Tosatsusha. Lets cut loose.

Kanae turned to face the intruder head-on, her Captain's haori fluttering lightly from a breeze as she did. She tilted her head as her vile, malicious spiritual pressure began expanding from her, matching the clear malevolence in her otherwise-pleasant voice "Oh? Dearie me, I'm always surprised when your kind...speaks. Like if a dog could speak. It's almost cute, in a way." A light chuckle left her lips before she continued on "As for adapting...to what? There's no adapting necessary, little Arrancar. I am the hunter. You are the prey. That will never change! Anyway, don't worry your little head about it lest my sword lop it from your impure, filthy body."

.....Huh? Desperation? questioned Kanae to herself, confused by the Arrancar's perception of her. It certainly was not the reaction she expected after openly insulting Tier and her entire species. She wasn't particularly concerned by her wording though. Kanae's focus was more on the potential strength of this Arrancar apparently unafraid of facing of a Gotei Captain.

The danger of such a foe was causing Kanae to be incredibly annoyed at the, in her eyes, completely ridiculous and asinine limiter seal on her power, the Gentei Reīn. She reached her hand into a pocket of her Shihakushō and pressed a button on a hidden device within before she spoke again to Tier "An uppity Arrancar talking back to a Gotei Captain? Arrogance is hardly alien to your kind, so I am not surprised. Does the little Arrancar have any last words? Perhaps a prayer for whatever it is you...people...worship?" she said, taunting the woman with a sneer of disdain on her face.

As her enemy was a Arrancar, Kanae wouldn't typically wait this long to attack. Her annoyance at the limiter seal grew with every passing second as it seemed to be taking Soul Society much longer than necessary to approve her limiter removal request, which she had requested preemptively to avoid getting taken advantage of in a weakened state. As her anger grew to a boiling point a BZZZT BZZZT suddenly rang from her pocket as a smothered voice eked out the words "Captain Nagoshi Kanae of the Fourth Division! Your Gentei Kaijyo has been authorized!", accompanied by a sudden burst of power as Kanae sprung forth and drew her Zanpakuto and swung it full-speed at Tier in a blistering iaijutsu attack. "That's all the time you get, Arrancar dog."

Upon having her opening salvo blocked Kanae took a step back and put her Zanpakuto away before addressing Tier again "Now who "reeks of desperation"? A Shinigami needs no reason to slay a Hollow. Prey has no right to question predators. Now, be a good girl and let me flay you."

True to her word Kanae pressed onward, drawing and swinging her Zanpakuto at Tier in a series of swift strikes meant to overwhelm her. With each increasingly fast attack a thin layer of green corrosive acid covered Tosatsusha before being released by her swings, a liquid powerful enough to begin burning holes into the landscape around the fighters. As she continued her assault against her opponent more and more of Kanae's malicious spiritual pressure spread across the battlefield like a plague of hate, further displaying the vicious Captain's nature even as she stopped caring about the half-dead Arrancar underling and focused entirely on Tier.

"You should worry less about the environment and more about whether you die quick or slow, little Arrancar."

Though powerful, Tier would likely find it increasingly painful and damaging to even be touched by Kanae's acid due to her level of durability. As for Kanae, she sensed the rapid buildup of energy within her target's weapon and responded by bringing her own hand up and casting a spell "Hadō #31. Shakkahō.". To counter Tier's Bala-level attacks, she released a series of crimson energy blasts from her left hand. The first collided with Tier's first, causing a small explosion that created separation between the two. Their following attacks collided as well, though with space between them neither would likely be caught in the blasts.

Standing around shooting beams of energy at people was not Kanae's style. It lacked the personal touch and feel of cleaving through her victims' flesh she was accustomed to. For this reason, she stopped shooting Shakkahō's before Tier stopped shooting her own blasts and began Flash Stepping forward, deftly dodging what came at her as she did. With a final Flash Step and a burst of speed, Kanae closed the distance between herself and her foe and brought her Zanpakuto down in a brutal swing meant to cleave through her entirety, starting from the top of her skull "Kudatsurakagi!"
