SAWACHIKA KYO

While the duty of the Stealth Force was traditionally...well, stealth, it was rather fair to say that Kyo had no particular ability for subtle assignments. However, when it came to the matter of quickly removing structures, Kyo was something of an expert. His assistance had been requested, and he was all too proud that it had been allowed by his Captain.

Of course, while disassembling old wartime structures was all well and good, doing so by the ocean was simultaneously amazing and slightly baffling. Never in Kyo's life had he seen such a tremendous body of water, and it was rather loud, wasn't it? Ah, but how it made the air feel so soothing!

"Right, back to it!"

Removing his shirt to get a better breeze, Kyo redoubled his efforts. He had heard there was to be an inspection by a Seventh Division representative, so he felt he ought to make the place presentable before the sun dipped too low to work any further.

“Watch out! Get out of the way! Hollow incoming!”

And, as to make that warning a true statement, a bellowing creature, black body with a white mask for a face, could be seen in the distance on the beach approaching the site of deconstruction without hesitation. Truly, a strange occurrence this day. Even for a creature driven by only the need to feed, appearing in an area stacked with powerful spiritual energies is odd. Such energies should have warded off the Hollow. However, a second survey would reveal another figure not too far behind the Hollow. A gentleman, dressed in black, katana in hand. Any other Shinigami would recognize him as one instantly, but that does not explain why a Hollow is being chased towards other Gotei activities.

Suddenly, such an occurrence lost all meaning as the ground exploded where the Hollow once stood. If one harbored a keen eye, they would have noticed the sudden intrusion that had caused the sands of the beach to explode outwards, a small crater slowly filling all that remained. Stepping out of the crater, the woman that emerged looked far from pleased with the situation, and the man that ran up to her was sure to receive the brunt of her annoyance. No one could hear the short exchange between the two, but the man’s clearly distraught by it before he took off in the other direction, leaving the woman to approach the deconstruction effort.

Red hair, short, a look that’s both uncaring and peeved. Yep. It could be no one other than Elyss Kishimoto. How did she end up here? Somehow, a simple meet up ended with a wild Hollow chase, followed by some mandatory check up on some building project. This doesn’t help her with her special assignment at all, but it would make things complicated if she didn’t do as asked. No one is supposed to know about her task for the Captain Commander. Turning down anything without plausible reason would just be bad mannered. Any who, what’s she supposed to be doing anyway? Where’s the person she’s supposed to meet? There are a few about, but all of them aren't important.

SAWACHIKA KYO

Well, Kyo would have been perfectly willing to help with the matter of a Hollow inbound, but it seemed that issue had been resolved pretty handily before he'd even needed to get involved. That was just as well, honestly, seeing how behind schedule this whole cleanup already was. The Gotei had been all but removed from most of America for the better part of a year now, yet these battlegrounds in Florida were still squarely intact. He imagined the politics of their cooperation with other entities might have had something to do with it, but no matter.

As he noted the face that had actually handled the Hollow, however, Kyo took a moment to remember where he'd met her before. Ah, right, that had been in the Seventh, hadn't it? She must have been the one in question who'd been coming for this meeting. Just as well, that at least cut the time for introductions and the other needless chatter. Approaching her with a wave as he slipped his shirt back on, Kyo's grin was wide as always, not seeming remotely tired even after a full day's work.

"Elyss! Nice of you to stop by, though I didn't think you'd be showing up in conditions like that! Impressive work with that Hollow, by the way, I think most people could learn a thing or two from that. Take it you're the one coming down on Seventh Division business?"

He didn't actually wait for her to answer before he beckoned for her to follow, leading the way toward where most of the former invasion headquarters was still in the midst of being demolished. There was a lot of sensitive material, both in terms of intelligence and actual construction material, that couldn't just be torn down and left to fall into the ocean. It was a sensitive matter, and one that could only have been entrusted to the Sawachika.

Who’s this idiot without a shirt on? Oh, wait. It’s that one guy. Despite his lack of professionalism, it wasn’t hard for the redhead to place one and one together. There are certain features of a person that you don’t just forget. Huh? He has markings on his chest. Tattoos don’t come back if you rip the skin off, right? That’s not something that should have crossed her mind, but what can you do? All she can do is pretend to not be put off by what she’s seeing. The man really just put on a shirt and ran up to her like they’re buds. Well, they’re not not buds, so she shall allow his silliness, for now. They do have business to handle. It’s just surprising that he’s the one she has to meet with, which, honestly, isn’t that surprising considering he does do construction crap.

“Calm down. This is all last minute anyway. I was supposed to be on Hollow hunting duty anyway around here. Places like these are usually infested.”

However, that’s not entirely true. She’s not here to hunt Hollows. She’s hunting something else, but there have been no leads. The only thing off-putting is the lack of Hollows roaming around, as if something had picked off a lot of them. It wasn’t the other member she had met up with to get information from, so she’s ready to get back out and look around more, but, first, she has to deal with this. At least Kyo is getting on with things.

Looking around, she’s unsure what she’s even looking at. What makes this area important? Why does the Gotei need to tear it down? She has questions, but Kyo is going to explain the situation, yeah? That is why they’re both here. He better stop throwing compliments around about her doing her job and get on with it.

SAWACHIKA KYO

Well, it was for the best that Kyo had not been privy to the rather scathing review he'd received from Elyss internally, otherwise he might have been a bit offended. As it stood, however, he simply led the way through the old wartime headquarters with a confident demeanor, leading her into what had, at one time, been a crucial planning area for many of the battles in the southern United States.

"Can't say I'm surprised with the Gotei presence still around here. This was where a lot of the top people in the war effort stuck around, and we've been doing our best not to let anything from around here fall into the wrong hands. I figured you'd been assigned here to help run through the intel left behind."

Kyo led her into one of the most well-maintained areas of the old headquarters, a prefab shelter lined with quite a few file cabinets, several computers, and an old staging map laid across a large table that had been marked up several times. Of course, the whole place hadn't been touched in quite a while, but still.

"There's a lot of pretty sensitive record here, all things considered. Personnel records, dossiers, security details, you name it. I'd guess anyone who was involved in the war effort down here probably has some info in these files."

A lot of his commentary was registered as droning in her head. She doesn’t really care about what this place used to be, in all honesty. Nothing it was matters to what is going on today in her life. She shouldn’t be like that, though. It’s her job to care about things that doesn’t matter to her, so she should tune back in and stop thinking about her other assignment. Besides, she had almost missed some vital information.

“A lot of personal stuff, huh?”

Her thoughts went to work. Would it be possible for whomever she’s after to be somewhere in all this information. She wouldn’t really know from reading a bunch of documents unless there were keywords. Yeah. She has a few words she could look for to help focus down the list. However, considering this is information pertaining to the war, would she find something? That would mean their target was a factor in the war, and that would mean they’re after someone what was hired by an organization or something. Hmm…

“Let’s see this information. I’d like to read through it. Gauge the importance of it all.”

She’s not going to let her facial features change from what they are. Her excitement or curious is for her own indulgent. Besides, she doesn’t want him asking questions. He’s colorful, but not an idiot.

"Of course! Let me get it all organized for you, at least as much as I can. There was a lot of paperwork just left behind, so most of it will just end up getting destroyed before long. You looking for anything specific?"

Kyo wasn't really prying with the question, he was mostly just making normal conversation as he carried the boxes of files over to the central table for Elyss to look through. This was his whole job here, after all, so it made sense that he'd be willing to lend a hand with it. Her being a lovely lady certainly helped, but it wasn't exactly his primary motivation here.

"Once this is cleaned up, we should be able to finally get off Earth like the Captain Commander's been trying to get done for a while. You ever meet her?"

Meet who? The Captain Commander? Uh… Thinking back to their first encounter, that had involved Elyss apologizing for attacking her Captain and going awol. Then, their next encounter had involved Elyss accusing Abalia of being a heartless bitch and almost being killed for it. Now, the fact that she’s on a top secret assignment because the Captain Commander considers her a close friend and ally, just hit home about how bizarre the redhead is with her relationships. It doesn’t help that… Eh… Nevermind.

“Um… I know her… Anyway, get me things pertaining to this area. Considering things, I suppose I’ll start in Florida. We’re here, after all.”

How the Hell is she supposed to ask for information about Iceland and Florida without being suspicious? Maybe Kyo wouldn’t ask questions. However, she knows his big head is going to ponder.

SAWACHIKA KYO

"Gotcha, coming right up."

Despite his usual air of cheer, it was time for work now, and Kyo was nothing if not dedicated to his work. The vast majority of these files had been relatively poorly organized, in no small part because of the abrupt end to the war and the exceptionally unusual circumstances of the southern front. Now, however, they were all neatly organized among the many cabinets and boxes, and Kyo had before long set several of said plastic crates onto the largest table.

"All of these should be the records we have of anyone who was here in allied service. Gotei, Vastime, Lux Orior, and any of the freelancers who were here. It doesn't seem like there's much here in terms of Vandenreich, but they were mostly in the north from what I've gathered, so that's not surprising."

Kyo had made sure to tap the relevant boxes as he spoke the names of each affiliation, just to help Elyss along with following all the paperwork. There was a lot of it, after all, considering how large scale this front had actually been.

Oh. Okay. This is fine. She's just going to be here for a long time. She didn't want to ask for anything too specific and out of the way, but if she has to go through all of this, she might as well get everything she may need.

"Grab me anything about Iceland too."

That's a bit out there, but she'll need those probably. Even if she has no clue who anyone in these papers are, being able to connect names and faces tothe two locations may help narrow things down. Besides, how many people would have traveled between the two locations during and after the war?

"...Also, go find someone to get us something to eat. I'll need your help."

She didn't want to have to ask for his help, but this is going to take forever without another pair of hands. She'll just keep him ignorant to why she's doing this. He seems the type of guy to follow orders without questions, at times. Let this be one of those times.
