The walls of Seireitei are made of stone called Sekkiseki (Spirit Reducing Stone), a material similar to magnetic lodestones known to negate all Reiryoku.  | RukongaiRukongai (流魂街, wandering soul city), is the largest portion of Soul Society and the most populated. It is divided into 320 districts (80 in North Rukongai, 80 in West Rukongai, etc.), each numbered in descending order on how far they are from the center; this results in the higher-numbered (and farther) districts decaying into slums. Thus, while District 1 is peaceful and lawful, much like the antiseptic lifestyle of early-Edo Era Kyoto, District 80 is a hardscrabble, violent,

Known by many as the afterlife, the Soul Society is a sprawling realm filled with pure souls overseen by the Gotei. From the walled city of the Seireitei to the wilds of the farthest Rukongai districts, both cities and places of nature alike exist in this realm. Only souls are able to enter and may not be permitted to leave unless enlisted among the ranks of the Shinigami. Given a proper way through the Garganta can give other beings such as Hollows access to this realm, only the bravest or most foolish of invaders would dare to with the extreme risk to their lives.
